Feel like an express line. Not happy with the results they provided they did not give us options.

We brought our Bull Mastiff here to be neutered. After surgery it was clear he had an infection. We brought him back to see Dr. Olatayo who was dismissive and condescending of our concerns. They stated that it was a simple allergic reaction. Two days later we had to bring our dog to another vet as we knew something was not right. He did have an infection and required antibiotics. The disrespect and disregard we received for our concern was negligent at best. We will not be going to this clinic again.

From the ease of the online booking feature, to walking in the door, to the follow-up.

Recently, my pets and I have switched vet clinics after a couple deal-breaker negative experiences with our long-time previous vet clinic.

My 4 month old collie puppy was pestering a painful tail injury and his cone was causing him tremendous stress.

Our first day walking into the clinic we were greeted at the front desk of the safely spacious and very clean, modern lobby by a couple of smiling and friendly staff who checked us in and made sure we knew what the next step was.
My puppy was weighed and doted on with a couple treats and lots of pets.

Next we met with Dr Van Boxtel who came into the room a burst of sunshine, friendliness and professionalism. I didn't feel like my questions and back story was taking up her time and I really felt heard for the first time since my pup started experiencing these excruciating symptoms.
Collies and other herding breeds usually have an MDR1 gene that can make even basic medications fatal and Dr Van Boxtel pulled up a chair right there and thoroughly double-checked that the antibiotics and pain killers she wanted to prescribe would be safe for my dog.

Next she brought him back to the treatment room where he was given mildly sedating medication to make him comfortable as his poor tail was derided. Hydrotherapy and a secure comfortable bandage was placed and we followed up daily for about a week (And continue to do so every few days now) We've even seen Dr Sheffield a couple times now so that my dog's treatment plan doesn't need to get interrupted by staffing shift changes. (Dr Sheffield is as friendly and professional and thorough in her communication as well!)

My dog's tail isn't at risk of amputation anymore and I attribute that directly to the care and communication of the staff at VCA Calgary Trail Animal Hospital.

Pain management is just as important to them as it is to me and my dog and my pup happily trots in for his daily treatments that would otherwise be traumatizing and agonizing.

He flops down while I pay our invoice each time and the darling staff, go and snuggle him and give him belly rubs and love.

Going to the vet sucks. It's expensive. It's stressful. It's not a good time - but having a clinic that truly seems to value you, your time and your pet's comfort just makes the whole experience SO much easier.

Just had my rabbit spayed here. Very happy with the experience, my rabbit is recovering well!
Dr. Van Boxtel is very professional and compassionate!

We love Dr. Van Boxtel she has taken amazing care of our animals over the past 10 years!
We love the clinic and would highly recommend Dr. Van Boxtel she is honest, caring and truly wants the best for our beloved pets.

Went to get my bordercolie stitched up as another dog bit her on her leg. I waited for 4 hours had about 6 people go ahead of me and they proceeded to tell me another 2 hours. At that point I decided to leave as I had work in the morning and it was 2am. She is now having trouble walking because they prioritized a dog who ate something they weren’t supposed to, 2 dogs who had seizers that day, not there at the vet, etc. Not happy at all as I have a dog who is in constant pain and who cannot walk at all.

We have been coming to VCA for years and have always had good experiences. Today was very different. The Vet we met with was very arrogant and made my entire family feel guilty about our level of care we provide for our aging feline.
He was condescending at every turn and even "hushed" my wife as she was making soothing sounds for our 20 year old cat while he tried to take a urine sample from the (his words) "very difficult patient". Way to go Doc.

My little dog went and got into some chocolate that was forgotten in the living room. These guys were super awesome about seeing him promptly and doing all the procedures necessary to have him barking at literally everything that moves within a few hours. Nice staff, clean office, overall a great experience.

Staff forgot vital notes to give our pet antihistamines before shots. We were encouraged to upgrade our pet insurance to $127/month to help pay for a procedure that after paying for 5 months they ended up not being able to do the procedure, costing us excessive and unnecessary fees.

I would avoid this particular location.

Really wonderful vets. I've seen three here and each person was lovely in their own way. Even when getting bad news or on bad days the experience was always made better by the people who worked here. Thank you for helping my senior dog pass peacefully. My vet even gave her a big hug on her way out. ️

I am extremely happy with the care my rabbit received here. He had a case of GI stasis and they were able to see him right away! Dr. Van Boxtel really knows her stuff! The staff are warm and welcoming and they really helped me out with my rabbits urgent care. I highly recommend.

We always have a positive experience. Friendly staff and our pups loven them.well one more than the other haha.

My skinny pigs needed some care, Boss Hogg, Rico and Sauve. I found a vet that was exceptional! The ladies at the front got me in ASAP and I received a warm welcome and quick check in when I got there, the care from the Dr.put my mind at ease. I was hesitant on bringing 3 pigs in but as it turned out the care and the cost will keep me coming back. I give my 5 star approval on my first visit to this office! Lisa

My little Hedgie Lestat and my kitten Hades both loooove Dr Van Boxtel! Can be pricey here, but the care is always top notch and I don't have many options for exotic pet vets so I don't mind

Very kind and accommodating staff. The vets here really care about the wellbeing of your animals and personal situations

They are super human beings first off, very caring and very knowledgeable. I have brought 2 animals there for many services and I am very impressed. Sadly I had to let an animal go and they have so much compassion and understanding.

My poor little Bronco got sick, then diagnosed with diabetes. The doctors and staff here saved my Cat's Life. He's healthy and stable now. And they always touch base to check up on him to ensure he's doing great.

The VCA is my number one choice! Thank You!

Amazing vets, amazing staff, had a very sick cat in distress, Rufus, & they would check in with us on a daily basis, they were only 1 call away for any help we needed, very organized, prompt & highly trained in Feline health issues. Rufus wasn't the most cooperative patient but they had no problem in working with him thru his illness & helped us to help him every step of the way. We never felt alone as this was a very stressful situation for the entire family. They provided us with training to administer his IV, pills & his feeding method. We are absolutely convinced that they saved Rufus's life and we have now found our forever vet, THANK YOU!

VCA calgary trail is so amazing, the front lady named Sam is always so helpful and friendly. She treats us and our animals like family, reason we keep coming back. Thanks VCA and Sam

They took very good care of my kitten and she was better in a couple days. Very friendly staff and very welcoming!

I have never stepped inside this business, but it is a great place to bring your pets for medical needs.

The doctor was very patient and helpful with my rabbit. She took the time to clarify all the questions I had about the treatment and general care.

We have brought our 2 cats here a few times now and are very happy with the level of care and service we have received. All the staff we have dealt with have been great, and the veterinarians have been understanding of our concerns and caring towards our cats. I'm very happy to keep bringing our cats here!

I would like to send out a big thank you to Dr. VanBoxtel thank you for going above and beyond today with Liam. I very much appreciated the help with getting him back in the kennel today and continuing the exam even though I should have called ahead and got some sedative beforehand. I was pretty anxious the whole time, I think animals in general sense that. I very much appreciated the service today, thank you so so much!

In this place they take care of my cat, they have very good service, very efficient and a payment plan suitable for each individual.

Over the past 15 years, I have been bringing my dog to the Calgary Trail animal hospital. Up until now, my experience has been positive. Unfortunately, my recent visit to VCA has left me feeling very mislead about the services that were pushed onto me unnecessarily.

I received several emails reminding me that my dog had an upcoming appointment. I called the office and had a discussion with the receptionist, stating that I only wanted to bring my dog in if he was due for shots that were absolutely needed, not optional. Due to COVID-19 financial circumstances, I was not interested in optional shots for my dog. Furthermore, I had no concerns about my dog's current state of health, so going in for a routine check-up that costs over $100 was not an absolute necessity at this time. I was reassured that this upcoming appointment was necessary for my dog and that there were some shots that needed to be updated. As a result, I went in for my appointment.

During the exam, the vet reviewed the records on the computer and asked me if I wanted any of the shots she indicated. Again, I asked if these were mandatory and she said no. Due to finances, I opted out just as I had explained initially. After the vet completed the basic check-up, I was told I had to pay the full cost of the bill, despite not having any of the vaccines done.

I am very disappointed in the fact that I was mislead and that there was a lack of honesty with billing. Additionally, I had a difficult time dealing with the staff about my concerns as clearly they were not addressed. Again, I would not have taken my dog in for the appointment in the first place, as I had no concerns. Therefore, I have decided to take my business elsewhere as I am not interested in dealing with VCA's untrustworthy services.

A word of caution to (potential) clients of VCA: please be sure to ask questions before you get any services done - you could end up with a bill that you weren't expecting!

Made me spend 4 1/2 hours outside in my car with a kitten I had found while camping that was starving and dehydrated only to be told it will be taken from me and placed at the SPCA and I can apply for him.
They could have taken him when I arrived if they never intended to let me leave with him. I was willing to cover all costs, not looking for a free service.
Heart broken and disgusted with this whole process. Would never go here ever.

Sammy our guinea pig was very sick with his back teeth causing problems. The vet was very gentle and helpful and now Sammy is fit and well and back to his usual self. Thank you!

Friendly staff! They are fantastic with my dogs, and always inquire about them when I stop by for medication refills etc.

My partner and I brought our hamster, chickpea, here when she wasn't doing well. Unfortunately due to old age she had likely developed cancer and we decided a couple days later to put her to sleep. Dr. Ogle and the rest of the staff here were really great in supporting that decision, answering all our questions and making it a comfortable and gentle process for us and little chickpea. Often times people think small animals are not as important as a cat or a dog, but I've never gotten that feeling from any of the staff here. I would highly recommend Dr. Ogle to anyone looking for a great vet to take there rodents to.

We always feel welcome and well taken care of here by all staff from receptionists to vets. They are genuinely interested and caring towards us and our pet. Would recommend.

I brought in my 14 week chihuahua puppy when she had an ear problem, I could not be happier with how we were treated by the staff and the vet. A few days later my little girl is causing all sorts of trouble again I would highly recommend anyone taking their pets here

They are amazing! They helped me through loved my much loved pet, and I received very kind cards from them. Now that I've decided to have another fur baby, they were my first choice for check up's!

Took our cat here for the first time this past week. The staff were all very kind and I appreciated the way the veterinarian explained what she was doing and would also let us know the different options and costs of everything. She followed up with a phone call after investigative blood work:) I would definitely feel confident bringing our kitty back again in the future!

Took our bird in on such short notice and actually LOOKED her over rather then saying she was fine. I had went to 2 vets within Edmonton and both wouldnt even really look at my bird. They lofted her wings and said "shes okay"
But VCA vet hospital not only TOOK her in but they EXAMINED her thoroughly. They listened to her heart beating, they used the microscope for her eyes. Lifted her wings, swabbed her beak ect.and came back with a flu like for birds. THAT COULD KILL HER.where other vets couldnt give a rat's a$$
These ladies here immediately went into action but taking blood, getting her set up and on some meds.
Not only did they do an amazing job in such a shirt period of time, but they also checked in on us.by giving US a call to see how she was! Such a great loving vet hospital that I truly recommend.

Was just quoted DOUBLE from a previous surgery.

My cat had 3 teeth extractions 2.5 years ago at another Edmonton Vet clinic, totalling just under $900 for dental exam, blood analysis, IV fluids, anesthesia, teeth removal, nail clippings, etc. Upon receiving a recommendation to inquire at VCA - their quote was over $1700!


I recognize clinics will have varying degrees of price points, but this cost differential is absolutely EGREGIOUS! #shocking #cashgrab

My favourite vet place. I have a lot of trust in my vet Dr. Kosolofski and staff. I highly recommend her. She is super patient, kind and professional. She takes good care of my girl Doodle every time we come there. And reception just adores her. There is lots of care in this place. I also used to have a bunny named Ginger who had past away a couple years ago and they did a very professional job in handling it. Had good services a little bit pricy but really worth it for the little guy.

Beautiful clinic, with wonderful staff always greet you when you walk in and helpful and friendly. Loved taking my kitty here for neutering, made sure I felt comfortable with procedure and even sent photos upon recovery from surgery to me! Wonderful staff and vet clinic!

The staff there are thorough and patient. They have done so much to care for my animals over the years and I am thankful.

I had a hedgehog named Murphy. A couple months ago I had to put him down because he had a tumor. The vet I took him to sent me a card with his little paw prints in it and today I got a card in the mail saying that they made a donation to the Edmonton Humane Society in his name. This clinic went above and beyond when it came to his care. If you have a cat, dog or exotic animal, take them to VCA animal clinic on Calgary Trail. They are absolutely amazing and I have to thank them for all that they did.

The staff are very helpful here. We have never had any issues. They treat our cat like it's one of there own.

When they were Calgary trail pet hospital I LOVEDDDDD them. But since they’ve changed to VCA. The vets and techs are ok. But having to deal with the reception staff is a god damn NIGHTMARE. Hard to work with, always changing price on customers without a valid reason. Disrespectful & racist. If you’re not white, expect to be disrespected,
All they care about is money, money and more money.

Staff are second to none. Great people, really great vets. We have been clients for 10 years. Only reason for 4 stars is that now they are part of vca they are insurance churners. Bring your wallet if you don't have pet insurance.

Everyone's always super professional and the Vets are great but I constantly feel like I'm being pushed for sales
