Velvet Cafe

Fabulous sandwich! I wasn't even that hungry (ok, a little) and this shop/bistro/café is a great find. Definitely a destination. Locals are very fortunate.

This is a little Cafe that I discovered during YYC Hot Chocolate Fest. It's Delicious. It has vegan and omnivore options and a little "store boutique" of other local sellers on shelves around for you to look at while they make your coffee.
They have a really good local following too. Truly an amazing hidden gem.

We just found this local hidden jem! We moved in the Mount pleasant community last year and I am so happy I found this little café at a walkable distance. Don’t be fooled by the dated look of the place & branding (and their social media), the food is absolutely delicious and there’s vegetarian and healthy options on the menu. Decadent sandwiches and beautiful salads, daily specials, amazing pickled vegetables and frozen meals to go. There’s a little boutique section, a patio to sit outside in the summer and everything is local. They are serving Fratello coffee and selling the beans. We ordered several items and were very pleased with everything. The maple pork belly sandwich, the lemon blueberry muffin, the coffee, the chickpea salad and the pickled carrots/cucumbers were so tasty but my favorite was the daily special: Lion’s mane mushroom penne with smoked pecans. So creative and absolutely delicious. It reminded me of going on a walk in the forest, every bite was different but each and every single mouthful was delightful. Earthy, smoky, creamy, nutty, savory. I am very impressed with the chef and was pleasantly surprised by that level of gastronomy from a little understated corner café. I will make this new found local treasure a regular spot for my family and I.

I love Velvet Cafe! Their mochas are made with homemade chocolate ganache and are the best in the city. Their sandwiches, croissants and meals are always delicious too. Highly recommend!

High quality ingredients made into amazing snacks and meals by top end chefs. Also a nice selection of local products.

Great place for a quiet and delicious cup of coffee or your favorite beverage. The onion soup was tasty and the ice cappuccino was delicious! The patio was cute and protected from wind and rain by a clear plexi-glass. I'll be back!

I started visiting Velvet at the beginning of the pandemic. First a coffee here or there, then breakfasts, then lunches, then their frozen take home goods. Fantastic, high quality food and great service. My wife and I stop by at least once a week.

I stopped in this morning for the first time, their white chocolate lavender mocha might be the most delicious thing I’ve ever drank. Super cute cafe and friendly staff too. I’ll be back)

Coffee, service, food. All amazing! I ordered the egg muffin pancetta. I thought the price was a little high, but then I ate it and it was totally worth the price. Will order again.

This place is awesome for its salads. Adam fixed up a nutritious green salad for me that I enjoyed it thoroughly & so did my customers. Cleanliness & friendliness is their motto. Keep it up guys.

I've never been disappointed. Chef has a great lunch special that changes daily.
The prices are very reasonable.
Vegan, vegetarian, gluten, dairy, friendly. Sometimes these can be difficult but it's not a restaurant.

My neighborhood coffee joint. I probably had an Americano Misto to go. It was noonish on Saturday. Great to see how busy they are.

Good quality coffee and really goodunch. No frills and Hugh quality. Vegan options available. A step up from your average neighbourhood cafe due to the quality of the food and coffee.

Really good coffee! We bought the dark roast drip coffee and we highly recommend it - for those just looking for a good cup of coffee and nothing fancy!
The breakfast wraps were really good (egg, sausage and aged cheddar).
We would go back and would recommend it to others!

While walking up the front door, my friend and I were hit with the aroma of coffee. It was our first time there even though we had been driving past it for years. Cute decor and everything you would expect from a cafe. We wanted to ask for one of their sandwiches, but since the server warned us that it might take 10 minutes to make, we decided to go with the shepard's pie. Honestly it was not worth it for $12, but it's a small business so we understand. Will probably go back to try a sandwich.

What a great spot. A small but delicious menu. The white chocolate latté was decadently good. Highly recommended for a quick and satisfying lunch.

Hand made, quality, cooked with care- Adam asked “Do you like Artichokes” I sure do now! I was blown away at how indredibly flavourful my meal was. A Terrific, clean and warm-inviting cafe that I will be recommending to friends and family. Ran by two lovely people and some friendly staff. Great Pricing- Great Local Business. Kudos.

Favourite Sandwich Shop in Calgary! Delicious and fresh. I have taken family here for the last three years and everyone agrees that this is the best tasting sandwich they have had.

Great owner operated local business. My go-to spot anytime I'm closeby. Fresh, homemade food and quality that is always consistent. We also use Velvet for catering services which our attendees have always been impressed with. Owner Adam goes above and beyond to make sure you are looked after. Been coming here for years

The chef is always striving to curate his menu to the best of his abilities and it really shows. Very sophisticated flavours in their sandwiches and their pickles are super yummy.
