I went in for one slice of pizza and a pop. He convinced me that if I bought two it would be a deal which is fine I like deals and then when I was leaving, he gave me a third slice for free I was like great what’s it cost? I was expecting under 10 bucks. It was $14. I went in there for one slice and one pop. Thanks for the deal bud and then when I left to eat the pizza probably the worst pizza I’ve had in years and luckily for me. There was a washroom nearby never go back to Vern’s again it’s been 10 years since I’ve had Vern’s last time I had it it was awesome, talk about going downhill. Soggy crust and ripped off tummy’s still rolling.
Man, where do I even get started on this embarrasment of a place? This place used to be decent, great food and at a fair price. Oppossed to now being an overpriced glorified compost bin. If I spend 5 dollars on fries, you would think the least I could get is not a bunch of old cold food packed in a mini plastic plate right? Just mind blown how people could actually spend an overpriced amount of money on something made that amount of effort.
Holy MEAT! Thanks, Mr. Vern! I’ll be back! At first I thought the prices were really expensive but when I see what I got for a 12 inch pizza that would feed four fully grown man no problem!
Ordered for delivery last night- first time trying Vern’s but heard a lot of hype so wanted to see what it was all about. We just ordered a simple pepperoni pizza and the cheese sticks. Super underwhelming. Soggy crust, no flavor on the cheese sticks and the pizza honestly tasted like frozen stuff you’d get from the grocery store. Maybe an off night? Can’t say I’d be back.
This is still pretty good and dont mind paying the price, i have been going here more off than on so i have seen subtle changes on quality, but not nearly enough to stop going AND will suggest goung there.
Make customers wait to long for pizza (more than 45 min). Owner offers pop (less $5) for that mistaken that is an insult my time. It was my first time and will be last time until change the owner.
Luke warm cool upon delivery arrived in 45 min so it must be fresh right? Guess not.used to be the best now Chinese bought it must be the only reason. Switching back to Chinese Chicago deep dish at least it's hot when I get it.
Slices keep getting smaller and price goes higher everytime i go here. Theyre selling short and charging morePizza is alright but wont be going there again
The pizza was really nice and i always like this place, but be careful with the guy who delivers the pizza, idk if he doesn't know how to do math or he is just trying to do some extra money by fooling you and give you less change.i gave him $100 bill for a pizza that was about $38 and he was giving me $45 in exchange.do the math.it's not the first time he did this so i was ready this time, maybe he just doesn't know how to do math and you need to help him and remind him of the real exchange he should give you
Vern's used to be one of my favorite pizza places in the whole city, and unfortunately I have to say that they've fallen from that spot. Their customer service has dropped significantly, the quality of their pizza has dropped slightly, and while I understand inflation but their prices aren't worthwhile to me anymore. I feel that the quantity of food to what you pay is just not worth it. My most recent visit was also quite disappointing on the customer service front, whichever younger staff were "working" were quite rude, extremely slow, and just weren't showing any care for the job or the business. Sad to say it'll be a while before I come back.
Pizza was ordered, called 3 times to find it, 3rd call was an hour and a half after order was placed, verns would not compensate. They canceled the order with out delivery. Very poor customer service. Especially when the delivery location is 6 mins away. Will never order from them in Calgary again.
If I could give no stars I would. They sent the wrong pizza again. They said that it was skip the dishes fault. Skip the dishes doesnt make the pizza. We order the same pizza every time, there is no way a veggie pizza sounds like anything like a Terex pizza.
My Second best friend sent an Awesome pizza for my 62nd birthday. Thank you kindly for accommodating his unusual request. He knew I 'd probably have to celebrate a bit tonight.
Best pizza in the city the meat and cheese go on layer after layer after layer it's not ground ground up and sprinkled around the dough and if your thinking something simple like a dbl pepperoni think again in its normal state it's buy the pound already and 4 times what youre probably use to getting if you haven't tried their pizza it's a must there's very few in the city that can compare.
I ordered last night got the confirmation email and waited to no avail no food ever showed up not even a call saying they weren't coming just to bad I can't rate this place a zero
I ordered an 18” T Rex and an order of dry ribs online at 6: 54 P. M. ($63.22) It said it would be ready by 7: 38. I called them at 8: 10 to inquire as to where my order was. The guy on the phone didn’t even sound concerned. He told me that the guy just left. I heard another person in the background say that he’d be here in about 8 minutes. Needless to say he didn’t arrive until 8: 32. Of course the food wasn’t even lukewarm. A lot of money for cold food. Oh and did I mention that this isn’t the first time this has happened. Two orders ago they forgot to cook it in the first place. When I called they proceeded to tell me that I didn’t even put in an order. Very disappointing.
Follow up. I called Vern’s corporate office and of course I got their voicemail. #CRICKETS That’s some way to run a business. One thing I noticed in these reviews is that not many bad reviews have a reply. That speaks volumes right there.
We orderd our pizza at 5pm for a dilvery time for 7 pm. On new years. Well we did not get it untill 9pm. They charged us more than what we normally pay for the same pizza and size but refused to pay that price. We started to eat the pizza and found out that it was twice as spicy as it should have been and now my kids won't eat it as it was suppose to be 1/2 spicy not the whole thing. So for this reason i will no longer get pizza from verns pizza. The old owner was wayyyy better
Love the fresh dough. We love how thin the meat is sliced, even though there is a good amount of meat and toppings. Everything was fresh and tasty. I appreciate the ongoing consistency, so when you order you know exactly what your going to get. Everytime!
We paid $84 NOT including tip for two pizzas (? !). They were delivered missing one of the ingredients we requested (extra sauce). Not only missing the EXTRA, but missing all the sauce entirely. Sounds odd, I know, but I have photos of this.
When I called the shop they said they would offer a 15% discount for next time instead of making it right.
Why would you ever think there would be a next time after this?
Love the Trex pizza I have ordered the whole pizza to my home and picked up slices in person. The only problem I have ever had is 1 out of 10 times the dough is raw in the pizzas ordered. Staff is friendly and prices are fair. If you don't have a punch card ask for one so you can get a free slice after you buy 8 or 10 i can't remember which it is.
After a major Skip the dishes fiasco Verns Pizza really stepped up and helped correct the issues. Awesome customer service from the manager staff and delivery people. Oh and as far as I'm concerned Verns has one of the best pizzas. Lots of toppings lots of cheese and as far as I'm concerned the best sauce are any pizza you can buy delivered. I've been ordering verns from when Gord Watson bought the first franchise in Saskatoon in the late 80''s. Still number 1 to me.
I'm surprised its taken me so long to try verns! The pizza tbh was beyond my expectations. It almost reminds me of a thick Reuben sandwhich. Thinly sliced meat and they put a good amount on, with the cheese, its a beaut of pie. Ribs are also very good, but I think over priced. Besides that, highly recommend, will buy again
The pizza was burnt, they did not listen to our ordering instructions for meat on one half side of the pizza and veggies on the other and it took 1.5 hours for them to deliver it. Not happy about the quality and feel that we did not get our money's worth.
Probably one of the worst pizzas I have ever eaten.the crust was so thin I had to use a fork.taboo for pizza also ordered salt and pepper ribs.so hard next time I'll go to the mall and eat.because this food is below mall food dont waste your money.
The food and service were ahead of my expectations. I really liked the vibes of this restaurant. First-rate restaurant to take the family out for lunch.
The toppings were as abundant as I remember from my last Vern's, and the sauce tasted the same, if not a little less strong on the oregano. My issue was with the crust; the bottom of the pizza was quite thin, unable to withstand the weight of everything on top of it.
We have enjoyed this pizza in the past. This time the lasagna was bland and the toppings on the pizzas were wrong (both pizzas and salty). Called back and all we got was an argument. To bad, I would have given them the benefit of the doubt, but not now
We used to love Vern's. Then we ordered pizza and lasagna for lunch today. We spent around $90 on feeding our family to come across hairs in both the pizzas and lasagna. When we called we got an Oh and sorry and we were told we could have a free lasagna next time. We told them there wouldn't be a next time and again there was an oh and another sorry. There was no offer of money back to the credit card we paid with or an offer of new items sent to us.so not only are we out the money we spent at verns we're out the money we had to spend on new pizza because we promised our kids pizza for lunch. We will NOT ORDER from Vern's again.
It's a nice change of pace for pizza. For the uninitiated, Vern's whole schtick is that they load the pizza with TONS of toppings under the cheese, making for incredibly hefty slices. This means that you don't get that crispiness you get with toppings on top of the cheese and the bottom is a little greasy, but you do get a really filling slice. More then that, I'm a fan of how light and fluffy the crust is, and the flavorful sauce. It's not for everyone, but it's a nice treat every once in awhile. Just don't try and eat more then one slice!
We have ordered from them a couple of times now for our staff lunches and the pizza's are awesome! Delivery driver is always very friendly when he drops off. Thanks Vern's!
We moved from Calgary to Airdrie about 10 years ago and loved Vern's then. Today we were in the area and decided to grab the T-Rex. While it tasted ok, almost $30 for a medium with less than 1/2 the toppings then it used to have seems like poor value.
Lots of toppings, a lil stingy on the cheese and pizza sauce. Pricey, but tastes good. I'd go back but not for a lil while. I still say Varsity Pizza is the best
The lady behind the counter did a double pick both sides of her nose. Then wiped it into her hand towel. Then went in the back and cut the next guys pizza. Not a return customer.
Not bad Pizza. Very thick Pizza with a lot of meat. The dry ribs was disappointing it was overcooked too dry for my taste. But the pizza flavor pretty good. Much better than other franchise Pizza Joint such as Pizza Hut Pizza 73.
Great pizza point. Pizzas are loaded with toppings and the sauce is great! You know a pizza is good when it has so many toppings it's easier to eat with a knife and fork!
Pizza is great, Has been for over 20 years. But the lasagna tastes like it is made with ketchup. Had an issue with a Skip the Dishes order but Vern's did their best to make it right, and very quickly
