I had a Tuesday night dining experience here with 4 of my friends. It was outstanding! Every dish ordered looked and tasted amazing. I had the gnocchi with oil/garlic sauce and sausage - and I cannot even express how delicious it was. Homemade 1000% and a large portion. So it was valued well. The service was top notch, food came out in good time, and everything was so fresh. You should go!
Villa Maria has special signature dishes recommended to customers. The Ravioli rose sauce with mushrooms and veal Parmigiana were delicious, huge portions. Tiramisu is the best.
I was part of a group of 12 that had a fantastic lunch at this great restaurant! Danny is a very friendly and entertaining host. The food was all delicious and the dessert was "to die for". I will be back soon!
I went here for my birthday dinner after a recommendation from a friend. It was the worst Italian food I’ve ever had. We had the Caprese salad which came with under ripe beefsteak tomatoes. The bruschetta was under seasoned. My husband ordered the steak with roasted vegetables. The steak was over cooked and not seasoned, and once we found a hair among the vegetables we stopped eating it. We ordered a side of Alfredo pasta which was easily identified as boxed pasta and bottled sauce. At least I got to take home the remains of my $15 bottle of wine that I paid $45 for. Would not recommend.
They at least comp’d the main meal when we told them about the hair
Sadly, we did not enjoy our experience at Villa Maria's. When they first opened, their food was magnificent. The presentation was beautiful and the owner friendly. We have seen that quality change over the years. I ordered Bruschetta as an appetizer and the Squash Ravioli as my main dish. The Bruschetta was flavorless. I can understand that at this time of year in Alberta, it would be difficult to get wonderful tomatoes but there was no care in making sure there were enough of the other ingredients that make a beautiful Bruschetta pop. No discernable basil, hardly any garlic, where was the parmesan the Balsamic vinegar! And my dish was coated with oil (and I don't think even a good one). The bread was dry and slightly burnt. One clunky slice of bread covered in tasteless tomatoes. That is what came to my table quite a while after we ordered it. The Ravioli appearance was drab, but massively DELICIOUS. The pasta was homade, and the flavors were wonderful. The chefs pasta making is a bit clunky, but her flavors here were sublime. It is the only thing that puts even one star on this review. I might have shared this with the owner, but he went to every single table welcoming customers more than once.except to our table. I don't know why we did not warrant a welcome, but there it is. The service was friendly if inattentive. The restaurant is aiming for fine dining, so everything should measure up to that, not just the price.
Excellent Valentines dinner. Great menu and service. Might have to make it an annual affair, with of course visits in between. We chose 2 appetizers, salad to share, a pasta dish, entree, and 2 desserts, (the chocolate covered strawberries were amazing), along with wine and a special coffee (Spanish coffee, the best!). Always friendly intimate service. Thank you Villa Maria.
Danny and his staff are fantastic. This is a great place for casual dining. It's worth the drive out from Calgary. The Caesar salad is second to none, the pasta comes with great portions, and the quality of food and presentation is amazing. The bruschetta melts in your mouth. Probably the best Italian place in the region. Thanks for an amazing experience Danny. I am definitely coming back and thanks to my good friend John who recommended this place.
A no-frills, small town Ma & Pa restaurant with limited vegetarian options (basically creating your own meatless option). Found it was a decent meal with some good sauce options.
Amazing Italian restaurant the food was superb and Danny the host was such a nice friendly person making you feel home from home. Compliments to the chef Maria the food was 5 star
Wonderful dining experience! Friendly attentive staff! Love the portion sizes, gluten free options are great. Gluten free fried shrimp are best anywhere! Love this nugget in our backyard!
I eat at great restaurants around North America and this little gem is at the top of my list for Italian food. The sauces are amazing, well, everything we’ve tried is amazing. The service is great too. Highly recommend a trip out there for an amazing meal!
Great little restaurant, delicious food and wonderful staff it was enjoyed and raved by the whole family and we will definitely be coming back again! Best alfredo sauce I've ever had, you should consider selling it by the jar to customers and local grocery stores. I would buy it and recommend it to all my friends and family.
My family and I enjoyed our dishes so much we even ordered an extra to take home to experience it again. Everything was extremely fresh and cooked with a real passion and to perfection. Sauces and garnishes were fresh, authentic and even the desserts are made from scratch. We will be returning. The owner was a great host and his service was above and beyond. Highly recommend!
Danny and Maria are amazing, the food is amazing and so tasty! Their lobster ravioli was so good and filling. I will drive 45 minutes any day to have a meal From their restaurant. They treat you like family!
Had a wonderful meal here both of our meals were excellent. Prices are comparable to other places but the food was extraordinary with good service. We will definitely be back to try something new on the menu.
Great fresh homemade food. The desserts are even freshly made. The tiramissu was amazing. We went for new years eve they even had hats and had decorated. The staff where amazing. This is worth the 40 min drive from calgary.
Service was awesome. Food was even better. Fresh ingredients. We went for new years eve. Totally work the drive from Calgary. Loved it. Gotta try it. The will not disappoint.
Would definitely recommend to anyone who's asks! It was very busy which created a nice atmosphere and pleasant place to be. The servers were all very polite and pleasant, and the pasta portions were very large. It was very busy our server hardly had time to take our order, but still an amazing experience. Will definitely be back
I had spaghetti and meatballs and was not happy. The sause tasted like it came from a can and the meatballs tasted like they came from Costco. There was no spices at all and lt was definitely not worth $23. The service was fine but that's all I can say good.
