Where does one start & finish? The level of care was overwhelming. From the time you walk in the door to having your visit completed these folks know how to treat people. I’m extremely grateful & blessed to have crossed paths with every one of the Professionals at Visionmax Eye Center.

Very recently I had a SMILE procedure at this clinic and the experience was very positive from the start to finish. Courteous and professional staff and very experienced and helpful doctors.

Prior to the procedure, they performed a thorough exam to determine my eligibility. Dr. Teliani explained things very well and answered all my questions. Perhaps, that's why I did not feel nervous at all when preparing for the procedure.

Dr. Senekal performed the operation, and it went smoothly and painless. During the operation, he kept telling me what was happening, which made me feel very safe and relaxed.

Now, I wanted to share the following for those who might have similar considerations. Initially, I was considering to do the SMILE in a Southern European country, to save some money. Now after the fact, I am glad that I opted for the Vision Eye Centre in Edmonton. Here is why:
• Dr. Teliani explained to me the option to do a mono type of SMILE. Meaning that I would be able to see not only long distance, but also my near vision would not suffer much. For those aged 40 years and older, correcting long distance vision through an ordinary SMILE may affect ability to read up-close. The "mono" type option was not explained to me at the overseas clinics that simply said that I would need reading glasses after the SMILE.
• After the surgery, I did a follow-up exam at my home-town clinic. The verdict from my optometrist was that the surgery was done in a perfect way and “by the book”. He could compare my results to those of his other patients who had done SMILE surgery in South Korea. So, the quality of Vision Eye Centre procedure was well on par with some of the best clinics in the world.
• The clinic prescribed to me some eye drops for post operation use. I knew that the eye drops were approved by Health Canada, which was important for me. Had I chosen the operation overseas, I would not have been comfortable getting medicines with foreign labels.
So, I definitely recommend the Vision Eye Centre to anyone considering vision correction procedure.

I was losing my sight due to cataracts. Dr. Senekel & the staff gave me perfect vision, better than I ever had.
The time frame from 1st contact to cataract surgery was under 2 weeks. The results were instant and priceless. All of the staff were great. The actual surgery for both eyes was 30 minutes. I now don't need glasses. Everything I look at is bright, well defined and with vibrant colors. The clinic is modern, spotless, & with the best equipment. I have my vision & my life back thanks to Visionmax.

After much questioning and research by myself, I decided to go ahead with Refractive lens exchange surgery. It's been just over 2 weeks since my surgery. I now have 20/20 vision and I'm gathering all my glasses and readers to hand down to others.
Staff at Visionmax were very knowledgeable and answered all my presurgery questions. Dr. Senekal was very personal and assured me that I would be very happy with the results. During surgery, he explained everything he was doing as he went along.
I actually see a younger looking face looking back at me in the mirror. Since my eyes aren't straining to see, they are probably more relaxed.
Everyone's is different but this was certainly the right choice for me.

I have a LASIK and It was painless, definitely recommend this place for eye surgery, they use the latest technology and the measurement was super spot on and accurate. The assessment was totally worth it and the doctor was patient and thorough during consultations. They have the machine that examines the eye pressures and checking the inner side of your eyeball to detect if there is abnormalities inside of your eyeball. I was scared and anxious because of the injury in my childhood on my right eyeball. The clinic was clean and modern feel, the staffs were great too and makes me feel calm during the surgery day. I can enjoy non prescription sunglasses and summer now. Pretty sure I can see better now!

Very thorough initial eye exam to evaluate which surgical option was best for me. Most of my exams were carried out by Donna who is extremely proffesional and efficient. Very flexible to set up appointments and surgery within my tight schedule. I was able to see better than ever as soon as 24 hours post EVO ICL surgery (20/15 vision!). I am one week post surgery and very happy I had it done here. 100% recommended.

Recently I received a Refractive Lens Exchange, performed by Dr. Senekal. It's difficult to find words to do justice to the experience. Let me try.

His staff handled the preparatory process smoothly, graciously and efficiently. An extremely skilled surgeon exchanged both lenses, yet he was constantly attentive to my needs. Both lens exchanges were completely painless. Then I had the wondrous aftermath of having the quality of my vision (back to that of my youth) restored to me. That people travel from near and far to his centre makes perfect sense to me. I consider him a leader in his field.

This morning I watched a mischievous squirrel at play in our backyard and marvelled at being able to see the individual hairs on its tail. I feel younger and I have a sense of my future that now seems to be wider and again filled with possibilities.

My husband and I both had the refractive lens exchange surgery done in March and April 2022, it has now been 4 months and we are ecstatic with the outcome. After wearing glasses for over 50 years with high prescription and bifocal lenses it is truly a miracle to now have 20/20 vision and not need glasses anymore. Our experience with VisionMax was seamless from the first communication, all the staff was friendly and very professional. Needless to say, we were nervous with the procedure and had plenty of questions which were all promptly and patiently addressed and there was absolutely no pressure. I was originally a little hesitant to proceed with laser eye surgery because I heard about the painful healing process, however, my experience from start to finish was seamless and painless! The nurses, as well as the doctors, were very informative and comforting through the entire process. From the professionalism, as well as kindness recieved from all departments in the office - receptionists, technicians, counsellors, nurses, as well as the doctors (Dr. Senekal and Dr. Teliani), I wouldn't recommend any other clinic to have the Smile procedure done!

Not recommend this place for anything let alone lasik. They are not competent and very sketchy on judging regarding a candidate results. I had to basically rely on outside optomoterist to give results

20/20 vision in less than 24 hours! I woke up this morning being able to see clearly for the first time that I can remember. The staff and facility were amazing. Impressive state of the art technology. Dr. Senekal was kind and gently walked me through the whole surgery. Completely life changing freedom.

I had SMILE surgery by Dr. Senekal very recently. It is amazing being able to see without my glasses, but it was even more amazing being cared for by this staff! Even with the difficulties due to covid, dates and timing ran smoothly. Everyone who works here is truly kind and caring and repeatedly asked if I had questions/needed anything/checked in prior to surgery to make sure I had everything ready. I felt like the team took my eye health extremely seriously and ran extra tests to make sure I was a good candidate for surgery. The entire team at this clinic are so, so good. Dr Senekal was amazing. I didn't think I was nervous until I walked into the OR. He talked through the whole procedure, to the point where I wondered if we were lasering yet (nearly done in actuality). So, so good. I traveled to VisionMax Edmonton from Kelowna for Refactive eye surgery and it was the best decision I've made in years. Dr. Senekal spent 10 minutes per eye and it was totally painless and comfortable. Much easier than a simple teeth cleaning at the dentist. The offices of VisionMax are modern with all the best technology for eye care. The staff are extremely pleasant and professional. The day after surgery my vision was better than its ever been. I can now read the fine print on the back of the toothpaste tube. Print that I previously thought no-one could read. I can set my ibooks to the smallest print size and read it with ease. I had SMILE eye surgery last week and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The facility is beautiful, all the staff were so friendly, and the services were conducted flawlessly. There was no waiting time or delays at all - which seems atypical for a medical office!

The staff clearly enjoy their jobs. Both Dr. Senekal and Dr. Teliani maintained their professionalism while also interacting with me in a family-like manner. I was so well taken care of.

As for my eyes, 10/10 would recommend SMILE. My vision was instantly improved. Even a few hours after surgery, I felt I had close to perfect vision. I’ve had zero complications in my healing process, and the clinic has been great at follow up.

I am an out of town client (drove from Grande Prairie for my procedure) and they gave great attention to the fact that I wanted to make the most of my trip with no need to travel back and forth for multiple appointment dates. I was in and out in 3 days!

If you’re on the fence about private eye care, I 100% recommend Visionmax.

They were professional in their communications, but have limited laser surgery dates. They only do them on Thursday, and these are subject to change based on surgeon request, which can make coordinating hard if you live outside Edmonton. I was trying to come in for a consultation appointment and surgery date (I live 5 hours away), and had tentatively lined up a surgery date that would work well with my job. The surgery date was cancelled a little over a month before, which didn't leave a lot of time to try and rebook elsewhere for my desired surgery dates. Nothing bad to say about my interactions with the staff, but be aware of this if you are trying to book from outside of Edmonton.

Today was my 2nd cataract surgery at this clinic in a week with Dr. Chan. His team is amazing. They are courteous, accommodating to cowards, professional and extremely efficient. My surgeries thus far, and it’s only been 3 days since the first and the second today, have proven so successful and I am so happy with my results. Dr. Chan did my daughters cataract surgery 3 years ago when she wa only 27 and hers too has been an incredible story. Each time I go outside I am in total awe of the beauty of the fall. I highly recommend Dr. Chan and his team, I only have good things to say about them. Thank you for giving me my vision back!

Extremely satisfied with the outcome of the iol surgery. I did both of my eyes due to the high prescriptions and wanting to get rid of the thick glasses, and on 1y postoperative checkup they have noticed that lense on my left eye has shifted a bit so I was sent to 2nd corrective surgery. Staff is very professional and helpful to get answers to all of my questions and concerns. All the best goes for Dr. Telliani and dr. Senekal, they're professionalls in their field.

How do I even begin, I've always been terrified of going to optometrists and ophthalmologists because I didn't want to think about how blind I am without my glasses and the fact I rub my eyes a lot. From the first time I've called, the staffs have all been extremely friendly and helpful. I was not "just a patient" at this centre, I was treated like an unique individual, all the staffs would call me by my name whenever I walked into the centre or when I called, they would remember little things about me, and that made me feel very special. I ended up choosing ICL. Usually the lens can take up to 3 months to arrive not accounting for all the different checkup and appointment times, but I got my surgery really fast. I am super thrilled with the results. I used to scare myself with all the potential ICL side effects and complications before the surgery, but frankly, I had none of that. Dr Senekal is the best ophthalmologist in my opinion and his bedside manner is superb. He and his team made me feel relaxed when I was so terrified of the surgery that I pretty much forgot my own name. The entire surgery was painless. I never thought I would be saying this about a surgery that involved getting poked in the eye, but if it's with Dr Senekal, I would gladly go through the surgery again and again. Thank you again everyone for giving me my new eyesight, I was able to change my bad habit of constantly rubbing my eyes and I have set a new goal of protecting my eyes as well as I can. I simply can't say enough great things about Visionmax and I would encourage anyone who is hesitating to go as soon as possible, because my only regret is not doing this earlier!:)

I had the ICL surgery for both eyes done Dec 3/20 by Dr. Senekal and could not be happier. I had glasses since I was a young kid for >20 years and my prescription was very high. Dr. Teliani looked at all my assessments and options for corrective surgery. She answered all my questions and made sure I was well informed. I was very anxious before and during the procedure but the staff were excellent and Dr. Senekal just kept reminding me the breathe (honestly that really helped). The procedure was pretty quick and honestly not as bad as I thought it was going to be. By my next day follow up I could see better than 20/20 with only mild discomfort/strain to my eyes. I am so happy I had this done and would recommend Visionmax for anyone looking to have corrective eye surgery. Thank you so much!

I had the SMILE surgery about 6 months ago. I do not live in Edmonton, but Vision Max was accommodating in booking my appointments at times that permitted travel and made my stay as short as possible.

The whole team was great especially the surgeon, very personable staff with lots of smiles. I had Dr. Senekal.

24hours after surgery I’d say I was 80% vision progressively improving to 100% 2 weeks post surgery to 20/15 in each eye. (Better then 20/20)

To be liberated of the hassle of glasses is incredible. Dry eyes and glare during night driving has not been a notable increase, these were the things that worried me the most. My eyes are definitely more sensitive to sunlight so just make sure I always have my sunglasses (witch should be worn anyways in the sun).

10/10 recommended the SMILE surgery at Vision Max.

I was referred for cataract surgery for both eyes to VisionMax by my optometrist at Capital Vision Care at Southgate Mall in early 2020. During my first visit I had about 8 eye tests on different machines, and met with Carissa, one of the patient counsellors. She did a fantastic job explaining everything involved, and has a natural ability to put a patient at ease. (She is also very patient herself, allowing many questions to be asked!)

I was put on a waiting list, and when a cancellation occurred, I was called and scheduled for right eye cataract surgery on 03 Nov 2020 and left eye on 04 Nov 2020. Predictably, I was nervous and anxious about having surgery on my eyes. I had a preliminary meeting with Carissa at the end of October, and then on 03 Nov, I went for my first surgery. In the pre-op room, Dr Botha, the anesthetist, put me at ease and prepared my eye for surgery with various eye drops and blood pressure and blood sugar checks. She also has a natural ability to put one at ease. After a short period of time, I was called into the operating room. I was placed in a "chair" that leaned back, and had a warm blanket placed over me. There were two assistants in the room, Kim and Ellie (I hope I remembered their names correctly.) Both of them also helped put me at ease. Dr Senekal entered, and the surgery started. He talked throughout the surgery, explaining each action being done to my eye. His "bedside manner" was impecable. Suddenly, it was over. I couldn't believe how quick it went. Also, no pain or discomfort of any kind. Shortly thereafter I met with Dr Stephanie and then Dr Teliani, the optometrist, to check my eye post-surgery.

The next day was my left eye, and everything went smoothly as well. Subsequently I have been using various eyedrops, following directions to do so for six weeks after surgery. Dr Teliani confirmed that my vision is now 20/20. After wearing glasses for >23 years, suddenly I don't need them anymore!

I cannot speak more highly of VisionMax and its staff. Absolutely committed professionals who treat their patients with total respect and dignity. I sincerely want to thank Drs Senekal, Teliani, Stephanie, and Botha, as well as all the other staff who were so helpful and integral to the success of my cataract surgeries. So thank you to the doctors, and to Carissa, Shawna, Kim, Ellie, and anyone else whose name I may have missed.

I would not hesitate to highly recommend VisionMax Evey Centre and its staff if you are considering getting surgeries done on your eyes. You could not be in better hands! If I could give them a six-star rating, I would do so.

I came to this center legally blind, without a clue if my eyes could be fixed. They took the time to evaluate all options, I was informed of every possible procedure for my condition and a solution was found for my eyesight. The doctors are top notch and the Refractive Lens Exchange procedure I got gave me the best eyesight I have ever had.

Had an outstanding experience with Dr. Senekal and his team. I went in with many concerns regarding the process and outcome of refractive surgery but these were quickly alleviated. I underwent the relex SMILE procedure a week ago and am currently experiencing the best vision of my life, with very few to none of minor and common side effects many claim to experience post op. I got the SMILE procedure done in March 2018. I was super hesitant to get eye surgery to correct my horrible vision. I was approx -7.00 with an astigmatism and everything. But being a mom and very active in sports and water activities with my kids, something had to be done. My contacts couldn’t hold out the whole day because my eyes would get so dry by dinner time. And with kids grabbing my glasses constantly, etc it was time. The day of the procedure I was really nervous. But I went in and Dr Senekal as incredible. He talks to you constantly to keep you calm and that made the world of a difference. After the surgery, it did take time to recover. Although I could see improvement, it didn’t happen overnight like some people may say. Due to having very poor vision to start with, I had a lot of swelling (not visible for the general public to notice). I even felt a little discouraged because many people told me they could see right away. But not me. It was like looking through fog for about a week or so. Maybe even a little longer, but I could still see enough to drive. As the swelling went down, my vision continued to improve. The funniest was being able to see the top letter on the regular eye tests you get haha! By the end of the first month, I had corrected from 20/400 vision to 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other! It was AMAZING! And I would do it again knowing how incredible the results are. Even the dryness isn’t near what it was when I had glasses. I can see better at night than when I wore contacts too. Completely amazing. And Dr Senekal is up to date with the latest procedures too which makes it an added bonus. Great and friendly staff too. I only have positive things to say. The SMILE procedure is life changing! The only regret I have is not doing it sooner.

Very professional staff and care. Thankfully they honored the surgery done when they were called Gimbel (same surgeon), so I could get my one year check up post op. I'd give it 5 stars, but the fact that I found out about the name and address change after calling Gimbel in Calgary to book my one year follow up from surgery after I couldn't find Gimbel in Edmonton seemed a bit sketchy. They seem to have been moving around Edmonton lately quite a bit which is odd (they used to be on Kingsway then South West Edmonton, and now this location with a new name). This is also a little unsettling. As for the surgery done under Gimbel, it was a very simple and reassuring experience. 5 star Gimbel, uncertain stars Visionmax. If they continue to honor my surgery, and provide reassurance of their permanence, I'll adjust my review next year.

Dr. Senekal and his staff were so friendly and helpful throughout the entire process! From the booking and assessments to the post op exams, great to deal with. For the actual surgery I had SMILE surgery and Dr. Senekal was amazing! Made me feel so comfortable and at ease. As for the vision correction, BEST decision I have ever made! So happy with my results and what a gift to be able to see properly without glasses or contacts anymore, with better than 20/20 vision! Highly recommend anyone considering this to go for it and with Dr Senekal!

All staff were very professional & friendly before, during & after surgery. Surgery was quick & painless, recovery was very fast with hardly any pain and no complications. I love not needing glasses or contacts after having a very strong prescription for 35 years. I highly recommend the SMILE procedure for anyone who can get it, wish I had done it many years ago

I was always nervous about having eye work done because of the fear of going blind. Having Dr. Daniel Senekal was amazing, he was talking to me about the whole process as he was going along to help me relax. It has been almost 2 years now and i still say it's one of the best decisions I ever made. Thank you to everyone at visionmax eye center.

I don't often write reviews or lengthy ones at that. However, I figured whoever takes the time to read this is seriously considering a life altering procedure. I have been wearing glasses/contacts over 10 years now with my most recent prescription of -3.5 in contacts that happen to get worse every year for the last 10 years. I broke my glasses for the last time in December 2019. Fed up & annoyed, I called Visionmax to inquire about corrective eye surgery. The staff is so great, patient, informative, put up with all my questions, anxiety and skepticism. Confident after my conversation, I booked my consultation appointment for their next availability. (More of a series of tests to see if you are in fact eligible for the surgery) I went in for my consultation / tests to see if I was a suitable candidate, had a wonderful technician named Matthew and concluded that I was eligible for the SMILE surgery! Only 3 days later I went in for surgery. The surgery was about 15 min/eye and 100% painless. You don't feel any thing. The recovery is very brief and simple. One month later here I am writing this review happy to announce that I couldn't be happier with my experience and results of my corrective eye surgery. I would 1000% recommend Dr. Daniel Senekal & Nohad Teliani and the whole Visionmax team for all and any of your eye needs.

I am very happy to have had my cataract surgery at Visionmax. I was impressed with the clinic and the technology they have. Everyone provided me with detailed information, from the pre and post op instructions, to what the machines were testing. During the surgery, Dr. Senekal told me exactly what would be happening, so I was less nervous. He is amazing. Kudos also to tech Maria and nurse Ron for their friendliness and professionalism. Definitely recommend this centre.

I had the SMILE corrective surgery performed by Dr. Senekal. The entire experience far exceeded my expectations. He was very reassuring and professional - I was very nervous heading into the surgery, and all of the staff treated you like a guest, very warm, welcoming and caring. Within 20 hours my vision was 20/20, and I was able to drive 2 hours home without my glasses! If I had to do it all over again, I would go back to Dr. Senekal and his amazing staff in a heart beat.

I have just done my right and left eyes cataract surgeries in Visionmax clinic. Dr. Daniel Senekal is amusing. The surgeries were great and I could see things clear 4 hours after the surgeries without glasses. Dr. Nohad Teliani is wonderful optometrist who performed the post reviews of my eyes after the two surgeries. She also referred me to have other eye specialist for my eyes muscle alignment. The clinic is so clean and tidy. More spacious than the old office (Gimbel Eye Center). The staffs are very helpful and always wear smiles on their faces. Thank a lot for the great service. Keep the efforts helping people to fix their eye sight!

This is about 4 years overdue but eh.
I had Dr. Kaye as my surgeon, and everything felt extremely rushed, I was super tense and my eyes were not cooperating (kept closing due to reflex) and I could tell he was getting frustrated. Threw this device on my eye and away he went. Not overly happy with the experience. My eyes were done fairly well, with the exception of several black dots.

I hear there's a really good doc moving here named Dr. Baillargeon - really good guy and great clinical skill. Would definitely go here if i lived in Edmonton!
