One of my favourite parts of fish Creek. We also just held a memorial for my cousin there. It's beautiful and close to the river. Definitely recommend.
Votiers Flats is just a small bit of the trail system comprising Fish Creek Provincial Park. No matter how long a walk you want to have, you can create one using the myriad of loops, paved pathways, mountain bike paths, and hiking paths. It's a beautiful little forested nook hidden within the city. If you are going in winter, be warned that because it's not a city park, the paths are not maintained, meaning that snow accumulates on the trails and areas may be icy. Carrying crampons is advised during peak ice times such as spring. Fish Creek is definitely one of our favorite spots to take a walk, with or without our pups. It's usually relatively quiet compared to other parks in the city.
85% speeding, ringing cyclists on SHARED path. Much like most parks in Calgary, minimal/no seoaration.with signs warning to use paths at own risk! Meanwhile noisy transit train speeds by at edge of park. Not a good time. Not recommended for walkers.
Beautiful area but I wouldn't recommend the area right off of the parking lot to go rollerblading. A lot of roots coming through pavement at the bottom of the hill. Wipe out is almost inevitable. Nicer flatter areas past that though.
This place is great to take a walk by the water, take in some nature, have a few draws, etc. My kid fell in the water today. Water was pretty cold, but she's a tough little sprog. Some day camp areas, probably good for dogs? Not sure. Not my department.
The perfect spot to begin your walk, jog, bike, hike etc. It's one of the original sections of the park so the concrete sections of the pathway are not perfect for skating perhaps but it's absolutely beautiful and otherwise very well maintained. Votier's connects to all other sections of Fish Creek and the Greenway Pathway so if you're feeling ambitious, you can literally circle the city from here. Very peaceful and highly recommended. Calgarians are extremely lucky to have this area and pathway system at our disposal. Enjoy!
It's a big park to walk and enjoy nature and to ride your bike in. The park also has restaurants and basically everything including great views of the river.
One of the best views of a sunset in the park. The trees are starting to turn yellow and as they begin to add reds as well, the sunsets will be like flames
