Washrooms were clean (no showers). Dish washing station had hot and cold water, and a counter. Campfire wood available in each campground loop. Fire permit was automatically added to campsite booking through Parks Canada - so we paid for a fire permit for nights that we didn’t have fires (I’ve never experienced this type of permit method in any other Parks Canada site. Yoho’s fire permits are optional, just get one at the gate before you burn). Little privacy due to mountain pine beetle damage mitigation. Friendly staff. Gatehouse is open late (10pm).

Great campground with beautiful large sites. There are a few that have had trees removed, but if you get any of the ones that back on to the river, you'll love it. Also provides good access to Mount Edith Cavell / Angel Glacier.
11 August 2023 10:23
Great campground but only downfall is no showers. The bathrooms have flushing toilets and electrical outlets. Not tons of trees but close to the river.
Felt safe.

Excellent site for camping. Fire pit, woods, bench for sitting, drinking water facility, food storage area, clean washrooms and quite atmosphere. Strongly recommended for family trip. I will suggest come for minimum two days because once you setup the camp, it’s worthy to stay couple of days instead spent one night.
15 October 2022 2:47
The campground is ok, lots of sites. Washrooms and playground on site. But there is no shower and there are a lot of stumps sticking upr right at the edges of the campsites which makes it very tricky to get into some of them
29 September 2022 12:45
Very ugly place. The pine Beatle went through and took out all the trees. Looks like a war zone. Absolutely no privacy between sites. No shade at all. Very bare and desolate. Not at all what we were looking for in a campground. No showers anywhere but, bathroom was clean. We were supposed to stay 3 nights but left after 1.
24 September 2022 0:28
Pros:
- Quiet
- Spacious between sites
- Fire wood included with site (unlimited)
- Clean-ish bathrooms
- Outdoor wash sinks on every bathroom
- Quiet hour is not enforced if you are keeping quiet and not disturbing anyone

Cons:
- Hardly any privacy between sites from lack of trees
- No showers
- A little bit of a drive away from Jasper
- Could be more washrooms

I don't think I would come back as I personally like to have trees around me and more privacy. There are better campgrounds in the Jasper area.
23 September 2022 4:20
Camping prêt de Jasper et pas trop collé de l'autoroute. Toutefois, il n'y a pas de douche.
Il n'a pas non plus d'arbres. J'ignore pourquoi, mais c'est très éclaircie.
18 September 2022 22:57
Located a bit off the highway this is a great campground for those who care more about a scenic campground and less about amenities. It does have portable water and decent washrooms. C loop has some spots close to the river and better views of surrounding mountains, while D loop has more trees and privacy between spots. Most spots are good sized. There is some highway noise but it is better than the other campgrounds closer to Jasper. Nice river trail along campground.
18 September 2022 18:50
Nice campground but some spots are a little hard to get into. Well spread out and lots of trails to explore.
15 September 2022 8:31
Way nicer places to camp in AB than here. Yes, the site was quite large and fit our camper, BUT, at a 90' turn to the pavement with leftover stumps and a poorly placed site post, and a steep ditch on the opposite side of the street, it was near impossible to get in here with a 5th-wheel. The picnic table wouldn't pass a safety inspection. When we arrived, nails sticking out, loose boards and wanting to fall over every time you sat down. It is quite obvious that Trudope's budget did not balance itself, and Albertans are being made to pay the price again. At $40/ night all in, you are basically making a mortgage payment for NO SERVICES!
13 September 2022 22:12
Nice place with spectacular views. Good service. Missed electrical hookup. And would be nice with a couple of more dumping stations. The ended up with a line at the dumping sight.
27 August 2022 10:03
I, a senior, needed a safe place to park for 1 night. I slept in back of SUV. I had no food, did not hv fire, no electricity, no BBQ, and did not use table. I was charged 30 plus. Plus park fee earlier. Campground prices crazy high. The site was nice but really to sleep in car and not uses services. Washroom was clean.
30 July 2022 20:20
Crowded but safe, river side walkway amazing. But I love to be in close to nature then people (no offence). So might not select next time.
It was so clean there and well maintained. Thanks to the staff.
21 July 2022 5:43
I'm only going to give this a 2 because I really prefer privacy when I camp. Unfortunately, a lot of the trees were removed from the campground and some parts were very desolate.

Beautiful location and had a gorgeous walk along the trail that runs between the river and campground. I stayed in loop A and it wasn't the worst. Mixed feelings.
15 July 2022 10:30
Great campground if you dont need showers. We loved the river next to us and the forrest-like area.

Wapiti and Whistlers campground are not as private as Wabasso.
29 October 2021 0:31
Great little campground. A little bit of a drive to town, and lacking in certain amneties (compared to Whistlers), but offers a quieter camping experience and direct access to the Athabas River.
23 October 2021 7:23
We stayed in the B loop and the lack of trees made it feel like overflow. The facilities were awesome, the wood was stocked and the background was great. Wabasso is on 93a and is ideally located for Mt. EDITH and a few of the park field stops. I would book in the A loop. So.e of the local sights near wabasso. Are attached
11 October 2021 19:30
VERY clean washrooms with running HOT water folks!
Polite and knowledgeable bilingual parkies, and lots of pre chopped fire wood. This was an awesome stay, and we will be back for sure if we head out Jasper way again. The Athabasca river running right by our site was magnificent with the sun set. 10/10 recommend.
28 September 2021 20:38
Really great campground. We were in the tents only loop and right on the river. The views were amazing and it was wonderful to easily access the river and go walking and skipping rocks. Free firewood in a large pile. Flushing toilets. No showers unfortunately. Huge stalls with lots of privacy. Staff was very friendly. Very large campground. Some stalls up top looked wide open and close together so I probably wouldn't enjoy it there. Will definitely come back!
22 September 2021 20:25
Great location with no Highway traffic noise and a beautiful view of the Athabasca river and surrounding mountains.

There is cell coverage throughout the campground, so no worries about getting in touch with people during an emergency.

All of the toilets are flush toilets in heated buildings, and they even have dishwashing stations outside. No showers, but the hot water is great and we did see some people enjoying portable showers.

There is plenty of free firewood, including small bits for kindling. The fire pits include small grilles for cooking, although the grills cannot be moved.

Tree cover was good in the first and second A loops, but the last A loop is completely open with tiny sites crammed close together. We didn't explore the other loops.

I would definitely camp here again!
22 September 2021 3:32
It is wide open and minimal trees, not much for privacy. You do not hear the road.

The cooking shelter has working electrical outlets, and the bathrooms are clean.
20 September 2021 16:50
Nice camping ground. Moderate privacy and free camp fire woods!

We did not use any public bathroom.
Good size of camp ground with partial shadow.
If you want to plan to go to Edith cavell trial then it is a perfect campground
14 September 2021 18:43
No comfort stations (no showers) and no dish washing station or grey water dumping area. We were here for a few days so this was pretty frustrating. A lot of trees have been cut down due to the western pine beetle, so there is not very much privacy at the campsites. It was as if we were sharing one big site with the people beside us.
01 September 2021 1:14
No privacy at most sites but easily made up for with the great views. I had a riverside site next to a huge whirlpool and it was a great experience!
28 August 2021 4:51
Free fire wood, wasn't strict about 11pm fire out but all groups around us were quiet and respectful. Some great spots by the river.
24 August 2021 11:32
I stayed there Friday night and it was very disappointing. I should have snapped a pic. All the tress are cut/burnt down so there is no privacy. It looks like you're camping in the badlands. I know it's not the campgrounds fault, but wanted to leave a recent and honest review. Free wood was great and the hiking trails are really nice, but that is all this campground has going. Oh and full, clean bathrooms (but that's not a personal selling feature). Sites are small and very close together. ZERO privacy at this time.
19 August 2021 5:43
Lots of fire wood. Good facilities but very little trees in the dry camping area. Still a great holiday.
14 August 2021 5:17
Very clean bathrooms, beautiful campground right off the river, cell service if needed. Definitely going back
12 August 2021 17:30
Bien. Magnifique rivière et emplacement très tranquille. Malheureusement, Très peu d'arbre sur les terrains (plusieurs ont été coupé a cause d'une maladie) et aucune douche.
26 July 2021 21:15
Lovely Campground! We stayed in Loop A. If you are tenting, it's advisable to stay in this loop in one of the sites overlooking the river. Lots of privacy between sites. Flush toilets are clean. Power sockets in cooking shelters. Lots of firewood. Didn't see any wildlife on the campground except an elk.
21 July 2021 13:02
The campsite looks devestated as the dead pines (from pine beetle infestation) are being cut down, leaving large open swathes. Not as much privacy as you would hope from a federal campground. The sites are set up awkwardly, with the power situated in illogical spots. On plus side: great washrooms with flush toilets, paved roadway keeping down the dust, unlimited firewood ($8/day mandatory fee), and cell coverage giving access to the internet.
11 July 2021 15:56
Very nice campground, clean bathrooms, with hot water and normal flush toilets. Fresh water and free firewood.
04 July 2021 2:04
Off the beaten path, was delightful non the less.
Came from Edmonton to visit my Aunty and Uncle in A13!
05 November 2020 5:12
Excellent campground. Right off the Athabasca River with a long walking path next to it! Fit our huge camper perfectly! Lots of trees, running water in the bathrooms, but no showers. Employees are super friendly and helpful. Will go again.
24 October 2020 8:32
Wabasso requires good parking skills due to the fact that some spots are really hard to put a trailer on it. There was a small space to park between the trees. Leveling it was also hard. Staff was friendly. You can easily hear the Athabasca river from the campsite. Around 9 AM there were caribou close to the campground road.
22 October 2020 20:48
We had a great time camping here.amazing night sky views for astronomers. Beautiful location. The campsites are clean and we'll maintained. Lots of animals especially cayotes so keep your dogs on leash all the time. The bathrooms are very neat and are cleaned twice a day I think. They also have a fire permit with which you get wood as well. The logs are pretty big so you may want to get an axe to break it up. Great place to stay would highly recommend.
14 September 2020 4:28
Nice calm quite campground 20km outside of town right on the river with decent trails. It's a sad to see most of the trees are dead from the pine beetle. Clear skies create stunning night views at this location
27 November 2019 16:41
Enjoyed our time here, the campground was quiet in September, the campground staff was friendly. We had a spot right by the river, which also has a trail along it so that you can see a bit more. There were not showers at this campground.
23 October 2019 22:28
Great campground with nice bathrooms, firewood provided and nice big campsites with lots of trees and privacy.
22 October 2019 18:22
The privacy is not bad, the sites are clean and well organized, bathrooms are modern, clean and in good repair. Unlimited firewood per night for $8. The Athabaskan river sounds loud at night when the world is silent. Can hear the trucks on the highway in morning and evening. There are no showers at this campground. I rate this as 3.5 out of 5. Not bad, not perfect. Get a shower and it’s a 4, make it more private and it’s close to 5. Has a playground for kids too! Forgot to mention that.
20 October 2019 0:13
Campsite are large and private with bathroom facilities close by. Really enjoyed camping here. The path along the river is beautiful and accessible right our campsite.
07 October 2019 10:06
It is very Noisy at Night not sure what the sound was, maybe Construction not sure why they were letting them work at night
04 October 2019 7:53
Stayed here for 3 nights, there was no showers, they had a 3 unit restriction (which is incredibly inconvenient) parked vehicle off to the side, the parks Canada employee put a “friendly ticket” on the dash and passive aggressively parked there vehicle close by until we moved, we left for the day and came back to find logs placed in our parking spot and then they required us to park our car 4km away from the campsite, I would not recommend this camp site to anybody I know
03 October 2019 20:27
No showers makes a difference, bit that's the only downside.

Well, rather than the pine beetle which has destroyed 90% of the trees in the area. Leaving an open, vast Feild.

Still, the sites are nice. The quality is good. Location feels far more rustic than other sites. I would recommend.
27 September 2019 11:34
Very nice. We were comfortable in our tent. There were mostly camp trailers and mobile homes here in September.
26 September 2019 11:54
Camps are well kept, bathrooms and such, not good about the place is no showers, and the majority of rv spots are no power serviced.
31 August 2019 14:54
Stayed in the electric loop D for Canada day. Nice trails around campground by river. Road in is brand new.
30 August 2019 19:04
Very well maintained grounds as well as restroom facilities. Ample space at each campsite. The staff were friendly and helpful getting you checked in
30 August 2019 6:09
There were two 20 something kids working at the kiosk. They were exceptionally rude and aggressive with my family.
26 August 2019 12:57
We stayed here 2 nights on A52 in August. Staff and facilities are great. Very private sites (for car camping.) Really great views along the river. 4 stars because they have no showers.
19 August 2019 1:40
Lovely campground. Widely-spaced sites offering reasonable privacy. Very clean, basic washrooms. Unlimited firewood, with purchase of a burning permit ($8.80 per day), made for nice long campfires. PC staff were present and (as always) knowledgeable, helpful, and were appreciated in their active efforts to keep the bears away. Would be 5 stars if there were showers on site, but we used the showers at the town pool ($4.60 pp), which were just fine.
