The front lobby is nicely done. I can't say so much about the buildings the rooms are in. Dated and in need of renovations. Maybe it was because we were in a pet friendly building, but for $250 a night, I expected more. There are no phones in the rooms and no one at the front desk overnight. I ended up calling the emergency number on their voice-mail at 3 am, as it sounded like a child was being tortured next door. Nothing was done, and the only option I was given the following morning was another room in the same building, directly under the screaming child, and right beside the entrance. I ended up requesting a refund for the next night that I had paid for and went home early. Very disappointed. Do better.

The highlight of my stay was the warm welcome I received from the front desk staff, particularly Matt. His friendly demeanor and genuine interest in our plans and hiking preferences made us feel valued as guests.

Matt went above and beyond by providing us with a wealth of hiking recommendations. He took the time to write down the trail names for us, which was extremely helpful. His knowledge of the area and enthusiasm for outdoor activities added a personal touch to our stay.

The room we stayed in offered good value for the price we paid. While it may not have been the most luxurious accommodation I've experienced, it had all the essential amenities one would need for a comfortable stay. The room provided shampoo, conditioner, paper cups, a fridge, and a microwave, among other conveniences. However, it's worth noting that slippers, toothpaste, and toothbrushes were not provided, so remember to bring your own.

The worst hotel stay ever!

1. Check-in time was supposed to be at 4: 00pm. But the rooms were not ready at check-in time. Not only my family, but so many other families just had to wait for a long time until their rooms got ready.
My family was able to ckeck in at 5: 00pm.

2. The mattress was all broken and sinking into the centre. I wonder if prison mattresses are any worse than this.

3. When my wife was taking a shower at around 10pm, hot water just stopped.
I called the front desk and they said casually, "Because many people are taking a shower at the same time" as if it was no big deal.
My wife had to finish her shower with freezing cold water and suffered.

Paying over 300 CAD and this is what you get. LOL

I advise you to think again before you make a reservation.

This hotel needs new staff, new management, and insect control. The WLLR was always our favorite place to stay in Waterton because of its clean rooms, friendly staff, and location BUT after one night, we decided to cancel our second night due to the rude way we were treated when we expressed legitimate concerns. We had LIVE insects in our room! Insects that popped out from behind the beds, the walls, and the door to the hallway. The receptionist avoided all of our calls, and the issue was not resolved after several attempts were made by me and my husband. We finally decided to leave and returned the keys the following morning where a receptionist gave us a business card to contact the manager. It's been a month now, and the manager has not returned any of our emails or phone calls. Where's the manager Cameron?

I booked a deluxe 2 bed room back in July for my sisters wedding for august. The money was taken out of my credit card the day I booked it in July. We get into our room to find out another family was placed in our room due to their reservations being messed up. My family was then moved to a small motel with 30 bucks off… I’m beyond disappointed as this was the highlight of our family summer… and to have us been dealt with so poorly sucks as well…

I wish I had read more reviews of this place. Run down buildings, no way to contact front desk.and no hot water at all. I tried to shower numerous times but nothing. Figured maybe we would go have a hot tub. OOPS not in service! How hard is it to update their website? We booked this room BECAUSE of the hot tub. When we checked out, there was 2 other guests checking out also had similar experiences with the water. Sorry but I won't return. For the price of the room, I should be able to shower at anytime, including peak use times. Clearly the owners know the issues because they respond to the reviews with the same empty platitudes over and over again. Maybe they should put the same effort into fixing the issues as they do commenting on reviews.

The property is located just in the middle of waterton and everything is in close proximity. You can walk to Cameron falls and there is a park for the kids just across the street.

The property is very old/dated and need major upgrades/updates and major professional cleaning. The carpets were so dirty that I didn't even feel like walking on it bare foot- without socks or shoes. One of the bathroom towel was dirty. Setting up the temperature (AC and heat) was challenging.

When I checked out, the front desk employee asked me how was everything and I started telling her about the issues (as written above) she didn't even let me finish and said "have a good day and your receipt will be in your Expedia account".

Most of the hotels have few extra pillows when you book a room with 2 queen beds (typically 6-8 pillows). They had only 4 pillows so it was very uncomfortable to sit and watch TV or phone. The facial tissue box was empty and no extra toilet paper rolls.

You expect more when you are paying $280/night/room and I had booked two rooms.

Not impressed tonight but we just arrived so we'll chat with staff tomorrow. Room next to us is full and very loud, even at 1130pm which is frustrating normally but more so when it keeps tired kids up. Found water bottle lids strewn behind beds along with lots of dust (did not pull bed out, it's set like that). Then found an empty cooler can, I assume from last guests on the kitchen chair. Especially in Covid times, we expect the room to be extra clean and finding dirty beverage containers etc does not give confidence were in a clean room. * Update* added photos of dirty, pans in cupboard. Found them when we went to cook breakfast. Washed them also as there is a note in the kitchen advising of a $30 fee for unwashed dishes. No oven mitts in room or dish towels, asked front desk, got bath mats to use. Better than nothing I guess. We did report mess to staff at front, they did apologize and assured me housekeeping would be notified. Also, updated to 2 stars as we will freely admit the beds are comfy. So if the mess and bizarre kitchen stocking/cleaning doesn't matter to you, you'll sleep well.

We stayed there for 3days and 2 nights, we been choosing this hotel since then when we want to visit waterton park, but this year we had a disappointment experience first the front desk every time we ask I don’t know if they are tired or not in the mood of talking to us but the other guest i just observe they are nice I didn’t even complain to them since the day we arrived but this facility change a lot since last 2 year that we stayed,

1.front desk not accommodating and approachable
2. The rooms are not totally clean but they are okay overall
3. No housekeeping they said if you are not staying for more than 5days,
4. Some people in front desk is not friendly and if you ask them they kinda treat you not nice (i know they are busy but thats why hotel have front desk to assist their guest on what they need)
5. No phones, not convenient with the guest

I hope their attitude in people will change, you had a great spot and property for sure of that but please always be sensitive to your guest.i hope management will have actions to their staff, we loved staying here but out next trip
Here we are probably not coming back.

Multiple buildings to this hotel but of course my building didn't have the name or room numbers visible from the parking lot. Very poor setup. Large enough room with 2 queen beds but only 1 chair. Had to take turns sitting. No phone in room. No service unless requested. No breakfast included. Girl at check-in was not that friendly or helpful. Will probably not return here.

This was our first trip to Waterton and we loved it! Our room was absolutely perfect for bringing our pooch as we had a screen door that opened out into a green area. Two andorak chairs were outside the room so we could all sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Our room was super clean and the beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would definitely go back there again!

Rooms were a little dated. Did love the deep tub and bathroom upgrades. Liked the no cleaning unless asked. The staff were friendly and very accommodating.
Right close to downtown Waterton, Parks visitors center and play place.

Unfortunately my friends and I didn't even get the opportunity to stay with this hotel given the horrible service that we experienced just as we booked our reservation - nor will we be looking to ever book with them again for two reasons:

1. Inflexible and Unsympathetic Response to Unforeseen Circumstances:

We booked a reservation at Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort through Expedia for the May long weekend, but unfortunately Alberta has been experiencing horrible forest fires whereby it's been advised to stay inside given air quality being deemed as a huge concern for health risks. Given the unforeseen circumstances, I was hoping this hotel would consider my courteous email and request for cancellation especially with 62 hours notice in advance. I am a Customer Service Manager myself and understand the importance of abiding by company policy and cancellation policies, but I also understand the importance of using good judgement and being flexible with policies in the spirit of goodwill & customer service when issues arise that don't necessarily fit neatly under policy regulation.

2. Blame-Shifting and Lack of Accountability:

Before realizing I had to contact Expedia directly to go through the process of cancellation, I had actually called the hotel directly to see if a refund was possible or even a credit to stay with them in the future - the response was "we are handcuffed by Expedia so we can't make any decisions about the refund and you need to contact Expedia directly as it is up to them". Even though I found that bizarre, I abided and reached out to Expedia. After explaining the situation to Expedia, one of their supervisors took over immediately to do their best to try and help me with a refund. What I learnt, was that it was not in fact up to Expedia, as they called Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort directly to plead my case and ask for a refund or credit for the future which WLLR then denied. If you're going to stick by your company policies, don't blame your inability to provide a refund on another organization when you have full control over the refund, extremely cowardly.

We arrived on a Friday. Our bathroom garbage was full from the last guests, our bathroom tub full of hair. We needed to request toilet paper in less than 12 hours apon arival, and had no soap to do dishes. After the cancelation period ended for our reservation we were informed we couldn't access the pool or hot tub.

We stayed here September 2022 and I’ve been struggling with what to write for this review. The 3.9 stars is very mis-leading, it must be an average of ratings over time. I don’t ask for much when it comes to accommodations except for cleanliness. This place did not meet my expectations for cleanliness. When we walked into the building there were very visible crumbs and stains on the carpet. The most noticeable was the wads of suspected old gum stuck to the hallway carpet.

When we opened the door to our room we noticed pet hair on the floor and stains on the entryway furniture. The ceiling fan had a visible layer of dust on it, we were careful not to run it during our stay. The bathroom vanity had visible permanent stains.

There was a dog in the building that barked consistently all day. It was left un-attended for almost the entire day. Their owner came back around 11pm in which the barking stopped.

We paid the same price as other lodges in the area but had a much better experience at the other lodges. This was a last minute trip and we had no choice but to book different accommodations due to low availability.

The room was nice and roomy. I'd say the location was great, but with the exception of the Prince of Wales, all the hotels were within 5 minute leisurely walk from one another.
There was NO maid service for our entire stay! We were there for 3 full days and 4 nights, no service! We were given clean towels, and morning coffee packs if we went to the lobby to ask for them. (but should I have to ask to have the tub washed out, garbage emptied? Why not leave the cleaners available under the sink? And the toilet paper?)
We paid over $300/day. No value for your buck, here.

The only good thing was the location! Here for a conference and thank goodness we didn’t pay out of pocket. First time I had to go right away and pick up cleaning supplies and clean the bathroom myself. The furniture is old and dated but it should be clean! Hair in tub and it was obvious the tub and sick were dirty! The smell of urine permeated the air but after my detailed cleaning… it was to my satisfaction. When you wipe the bathroom floor with disinfectant wipes and they are yellow! Yes… great location but that’s it!?

Despite knowing that there rooms are not fully functioning well. They still let their guests stay. There excuse was it is because it was fully booked. $800+ is a rip off even if u get 10% discount with so many problems in that room.

Hope you will be able to fix this problem and do not let future guests stay in a room with lots of problems.

1. The bathroom sink was clogged
2. The door screen was broken
3. The window has a cracked (so the air condition/heater comes out through that crack)

Other than that location was great everything is nearby.

Rooms were quiet, comfortable, and spacious enough. The staff was very welcoming. I doubt there is a location in all of Waterton that lacks a view, but waking up to mountains, wildlife, and the lake every morning was just what we needed. 10/10 would stay again.

Definitely a bit of a run-of-the-mill hotel. The room was definitely huge as we had a three queen room (two regular Queens and one Murphy bed) that also had a kitchenette. However, I think they have major staffing issues as they weren't doing any housekeeping which wasn't a big deal for us as we were only staying the one night but along with that, they were over an hour late for our check-in and the gal who told me that she would call didn't call. The other issue is that the pool and fitness area was out of order so we couldn't get a workout in. Definitely room for improvement.

It was wonderful journey to Waterton National Park. Very beautiful place. Kudos to Canada parks for preserving this gem. Worth it

Nothing good to say about this dumpy hotel. $280 a night for an old rundown dirty room with stains (maybe blood) all over the floor, and a shower that’s rotted out and growing black mold. No room cleanings during your stay due to “Covid”, get serious that excuse is long gone. The garbage in the entrance to our building was full of something that was rancid so we called and asked them to change it out but it never got done. The slum lords of this hotel should be ashamed of themselves for charging this much money for such a place.

Wifi non-existent, RCA tv's don't work with the supplied remote (which they said has been an ongoing issue for 5 months), you have to manually turn it on and adjust the volume on the set. Ceiling in restaurant is failing down and the restaurant is still open, ceiling otherwise is yellow and stained. Spider sacs visible hanging from previously mentioned ceiling in restaurant. Buildings need a serious refresh and they should be embarrassed at the rates for this facility and the state of the accommodations. Staff are friendly, maintenance fella was kind and helpful but the buildings need updating or this fella is going to run out of steam. Overall, unless there is a refresh, we wont be back.

Hotel staff did not have room ready when we arrived, we could only check in at 5: 15p.m.
The room smelt really bad of body odor, bed mattresses were very soft.
Asked for a crib, they said yes, but provided a play pen.
Not very happy with our stay, it was very disappointing.

But for $260 a disappointment. Place needs an update, seemed pretty clean but kind of run down. Sat down in the restaurant for dinner, syrup all over the floor under our feet, I was given the wrong meal and never asked if I’d like another drink. Not classy. Would have been fine for $100. Not $260.

After being moved from the Kilmorey Lodge (they were delayed in their opening), we were not sure what our accommodations would be like at the Waterton Lakes Lodge. Unfortunately, we were not overly impressed from the beginning. We arrived to find that there would be no housekeeping services for the time of our stay, the pool and gym areas were not open, and there were limited reservations for breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. We were not offered any form of compensation to our room rate which turned out to be $450 per night. While the room we were assigned was recently renovated, clean and the beds comfortable, it was a very strange and cramped layout (door opened to a large murphy bed and there was no living room space in a three bed/kitchenette). What we did find out later, is that the resort doubles as staff housing for people working in Waterton, which would explain the packing in of beds. There was a very small outdoor space, but no furniture to sit outside the room. For the price, can't say we were really impressed. We won't be back.

Clerks at the front desk are not welcoming, not smiling and give the impression you are a burden. The room was "clean" despite the carpet which left black marks under your feet. AC in the room did not work properly. The beds are terrible. On the checkout, the clerk never asked if we were satisfied of our stay or anything else, again showed a complete "don't care" attitude. The only thing that worked well was the restaurant. Courteous staff and understanding with allergies concerns. All in all, I can't recommend this place, disappointing compared to the competitors. I will not go back.

Clean rooms with a cool layout and a cozy rustic feel. Jordan at the front desk was very welcoming & competent checking us in. It was clearly a busy & somewhat stressful day but they were still incredibly kind (and calmer than I would have been!) in the face of it all.

Great stay in the perfect location. The building we were in seemed a little tired but the room was large, clean and had an amazing bathroom. Nothing is inexpensive anymore but this place was worth it.

Was excited to return to WLL as we really enjoyed our stay 20 years ago.but were sadly very disappointed. We had booked a 2 queen pet friendly room well in advance and paid 1 nights deposit in advance. We arrived around 3: 30 (a little earlier than our 4pm check in time). The room was not cleaned yet and they offered to call us when it was. That was fine as we were early. They called at 3: 56 to say the room was now ready, which we appreciated.

Once we got our keys to the room we headed over. The entrance way to the building was littered with 4-5 pieces of old chewed gum stuck to the exterior of the building and the ledge. The gum was STILL there 2 days later when we left.it was in plain veiw of anyone entering the building so I winder why cleaning staff did not remove it.

We entered the building and headed up the stairs to our room. The entire building smelt like the Taco shop located on the main level. Not a very nice scent to smell for 3 days.

We entered the room and I felt like I had stepped back in time 20 years.the room was old, outdated and obviously has had zero upgrades in 20 years since our last visit. I am ok with a dated room, when maintained. This room has not been maintained.
- The cupbaord to the bar fridge was broken
- the bar frudge freezer was in serious need of defrosting
- the lampshades and the headboard of the bed were dirty and dusty - the design engraved in the headboard had a thick layer of old dust/dirt.
- the window sill had a mystery spill on it that had obviously not been cleaned from the previous guests (or longer? Looked like it could have been chocolate milk or something? Gross either way)
- the TV remote only worked to change the channel, you had to use the control panel on the tv to adjust the volume or turn it off or on, when the maintance man came he did not fix, just commented that 'they have been having issues with these tv's.
- and we had no WIFI. Being this was a working vacation WIFI was vital. We called the front desk and they sent someone to look at it.after about an hour they just gave us the WIFI login and password to the Taco restaurant downstairs (the only positive about staying over the Taco shop).
- the recycle bin still had previous occupants items in it.
- the kleenex box in the washroom was empty
- the carpets were stained very noticably
- the beds were like marshmellows.and if you sat on the edge you quickly sank to the bedframe.
- I actually slept on top of the covers as I was genuinely concerned about the cleanliness of what lay under the covers.

When asked how my visit was upon check out I replied 'It was ok' hoping to start a dialogue with the clerk. She did not respond. Once I recieved my final bill I decided to mention the cleanliness of the room to her, she did not seem all that interested and just replied " Oh we have hired new cleaning staff and they are still training, so they probably missed a few things". And that was it. She did not seem to care much so I did not bring up the rest of my concerns.

Sadly the only positive about this PRICEY hotel is its location. Nwxt time we visit Waterton we will seek out better quality accomadations even if it means staying a little farther away from the townsite.

It is a hotel. The layout is quite interesting, having several different buildings with multiple floors. The service is excellent, and by far the best location, central to everything in town. Loved our trip last year, and planning to go again. WLLR is my first choice for hotel next time we go. The convenience of the restaurant in the main building serving breakfast is a bonus. Didn't get to use the leisure centre because it was under maintenance though.

Stayed here for 3 nights, the place is walking distance to everything in town, the room was clean, the beds were comfy, the front desk staff was friendly, the wifi was not stellar, but I don't think anywhere in Waterton is. I would stay here again

We had our wedding reception at Vimy’s!
The coordinator Sherry was amazing and took excellent care of us and our wedding guests!
The hotel team was very conscientious and helpful!
