Asked for decaffeinated coffe and got caffeinated one. How do I know? Shaking for past few hours. I wish they could pay more attention to those requests.
September 2023 It would appear that the music situation was adjusted. The selection of radio station is better, no more thumby rock, Volume on the patio is now lower to the point where one can have a conversation or simply quiet time. Thanks to management. Although no music would be much nicer. Now we can enjoy the fabulous coffee at Waves in relative peace again! Update, July 2023: In response to the kind words from the owner about my recent update, I had to pay them another visit. Cleanliness was definitely improved. Music unfortunately continues to be a challenge, especially on the patio. There are new umbrellas which makes the patio inviting on warm days but the chairs are mostly empty because of the silly music relentlessly playing. It interferes with the ambience outside so much that there are always more customers inside than outside no matter how nice the weather is. For the life of me, I don't understand why a coffee place like this must play any music at all. In Italy where espresso was invented you never hear music at all in any Cafe. People don't go-to a Cafe to hear music and certainly will not stop coming if there is no music. There are those however, like me, who will stop coming because of the music. Update: May 2023 I had to update this review, sadly downwards. My origonal review was 5 stars. However I now give it 3 stars only. While the coffee drinks are still very good, the space is not kept as clean and tidy as before, with seemingly always overflowing garbage can outside, dirty floors and coffee stains on the patio. Washrooms are not as clean as they used to be. Even the music is loud now and rather annoying selection. Too bad. I am no longer a big fan. In my origonal review I picked Waves espresso drinks as the best in edmonton. That did not change much but this west side location has deteriorated and i can no longer recommend it. If they do not pay attention to cleanliness and do something with the loud music I am not going back.
Founded in 2005 at Hastings and Richards Street in downtown Vancouver, Waves has been blazing the trail with superbly fresh brewed coffee, a commitment to local craftsmanship and community, and incomparable service.
Today there are 26 Waves across British Columbia and Alberta and with more to come.
Best mochas in the city.i get the dark chocolate but they also have milk and white options.lots of non-dairy milk alternatives and fun drinks choices. All the pastries are individually wrapped in plastic which is too bad.i imagine there's a better way to save on plastic. The baristas are friendly and bring your drink to you. Overall look of the place could be improved but can't complain with the taste of the drinks!
I love Waves. It's great how you can fully customize your drinks including what chocolate you want used. Reasonable prices. Lots of cozy seating. Clean bathrooms. The staff are also super friendly and helpful.
Yes. They have lactose free milk! For y'all wondering but too nervous to call haha! First time there today, it was very nice. The coffee was delicious, nice and strong too. And they had lots of syrup flavors, and a variety of ways to make your coffee. Price was decent, cheaper than Starbucks.
Such friendly staff, and relaxed atmosphere. I had a lavender frapp and it was such a beautiful purple colour. It was so tasty. Also apparently on Wednesdays you can upsize your drink for free. It’s such a cute cozy vibe there. They’re also got a lot of fun summer drinks available now. Only thing is I wish they were open earlier in the day.
The coffee is great but the prices are crazy. They apparently raised their prices 0.40/each for ice coffee without changing their signs so they’re just charging people more than they’re advertising. I guess people aren’t questioning it? But when my total was $10 instead of $7 something it didn’t make any sense.
For $4.35 they should be offering more than a waves size which is equivalent to a standard medium.
I like it here but it’s hard to justify the cost for straight coffee.
I appreciate the owners thorough response so I am changing my review from 3 to 4 stars.
While the coffee and smoothies were good, the price is a bit ridiculous. Not only that but the girl at the drive thru mumbled the entire time making it hard to understand her, and the wait once we got up was 5 minutes. Bit crazy when there wasn't anyone inside or in front of us.
For the price I might just go to Tim hortons for my coffee and stick with McDonalds smoothies.
My gf worked here when they first opened, she quit after seeing the manager trim mould off sandwiches and still serving them.years ago and havent been there since but i would skip this location.
Great little place. Caught up with a friend here and I can say they have fantastic drinks! Ice coffees are amazing! However their food not so much. I have a vegitarian wrap and I can say it's not worth the price. Lacks flavour.
Poor service, told creams nd sugar at the counter, go there and no sugar and no cream, wait 5 minutes at counter again to ask again, barista soooo annoyed with.
Finally made it into Waves after considering it for several years, I was not disappointed in any way. The coffee was good a long with the selections being plenty. Service was friendly and efficient. Atmosphere was accommodating. Will definitely be back and probably use the drive through
