Welch's Chocolate Shop

Neat place to visit, LOTS to look at and all the wares are very nicely displayed. Downside - it’s cash only (heard someone say the ATM is set to $7/withdrawl - which is awfully high….) AND some pretty steep product pricing (even for a tourist area) makes it a little hard to swallow…. That said - the ice cream was really good, waffle cone was crisp and what I’d expected, and the candy and fudge looked delicious. I’d come back for another cone after a good hike in the park.

Cash only? Really? Can we have some audit in this place please?
I'm from a "tourist" country, I can easily distinguish if establishments see customers as "they will be here only once, I won't see them again so this is my chance to make some money". This place is one of them.

I never write negative reviews, especially for small businesses that are trying to make a living. But this place is horrible! Do not go to this place. Their coffee sucks. Pastry is OK. Cash only. They will overcharge you. The lady 'sounds' sweet but she's just scamming you. I AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Owned by a Scorpion Lady. Went to buy 2 good looking peanut butter cups, owner asked if I wanted the sugar ones versus the sugar free ones I pointed out. I opted for the sugar ones. After leaving I realized she just sold me 2 Reese's big cup peanut butter cups! Exactly same wrapper, consistency, flavor, it was unmistakable to me that it was Reese's! Despicable sales practices.

Overpriced… I poured a small slushy. Found out it cost $6.25. Had to use ATM machine to take money out and was charged $2.00. $8.25 slushy

To be honest, I echo prior reviewers in that the chocolate shop looks dusty, stale and overpriced, but I really wanted a piece of fresh pie and the pie shop did not disappoint. Had strawberry rhubarb and the pastry was super fresh and delicious. In the pie shop I’d stick with the pie, though, the other items didn’t look as enticing or fresh. Tea was fine. It’s pricey, but everything in Waterton is. The cash-only requirement is well posted in a few spots so you can’t miss it. Frustrating, but if you don’t want to pay cash there are other options in town that take cards. I can’t speak to others’ exchange rate concerns as I paid in CDN. The proprietor was very friendly and considerate when I was there.

While visiting Waterton we stopped in for dessert. Apple pie with Carmel sauce was absolutely delicious. Such a neat little bakery and candy shop. And ice cream was delicious too. A must if you are visiting Waterton.

The ice cream was old and freezer burnt. Had two different flavors, both were old.

Cash only.

Just don’t worth the money. We went inside for 2 little piece of chocolate with almonds and we spent over $20. That was insane. There is no price posted. For sure we won’t come back!

The candy shop not so much, but the coffee part has good coffee (drip) and the cougar tracks are very tasty. The raspberry shortbread thing good too.

Honestly couldn't even eat most the chocolate I bought because they were either cracked or not capped properly.one extra star for the customer service, because it was very friendly. But definitely does not make up for the product.
