Quite pricey in comparison to other local options, however their terms and policy for recovery are great and their communication/reporting systems are easy to follow. Customer service was quite prompt (within a day). I also appreciated being able to browse through all the recovered folders and visually see what was recovered. I just found their pricing system to be a little steep and you have to pay a $95 “assessment fee” for them to say “we’ll give it a shot and see”. The assessment fee doesn’t assess anything …

Communication, professionalism, and friendliness was top-notch from the beginning of the process to the end.

Dear Recovery Data Team,

I am writing to you regarding my recent experience with your company, and I must say, I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I have received.

On November 23rd, 2022, I contacted your company to inquire about recovering data from my hard disk. After discussing the matter with one of your representatives over the phone, I was asked to send my hard disk to you so that you could provide an estimate of the cost.

Upon receiving the estimate of $4400, I made the decision not to proceed with your services due to the high cost. I then asked your company to return the hard disk to me. Unfortunately, I was informed that the hard disk was lost while in your possession.

I cannot stress enough how devastating this situation is for me and my company. The hard disk contained valuable and confidential information, including banking and customer data that has been accumulated over the last 15 years. It is unimaginable to think that all of this data is now lost.

Furthermore, I must express my disappointment with the unprofessional manner in which your company has handled this matter. I have been going back and forth with your management, but my phone calls have been ignored, and my emails remain unanswered.

I am writing to you today to express my deep concern about this matter and to request that your company take immediate steps to rectify the situation. As mentioned in my previous emails, I believe that it is in the best interest of both parties to resolve this issue before any legal action is taken.

Please note that the case number for this matter is 490510, and I urge you to give this matter your utmost attention.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Although I made the decision not to follow through with the service (due to my situation), I did this as a fully informed choice because of how well the staff communicated every detail, and addressed every question I had.

I really appreciate how responsive and clear Jonathan was throughout the entire data recovery process. He worked with me through budget, my many questions along the way, and ultimately made sure that although my data couldn't be entirely recovered that everything that could be done had been. He responded to all emails and calls very quickly and with friendly patience which was appreciated in the rough situation and time crunch for getting the data back

Very Professional. Lost my photos in a back-up drive. I try by any means to recover the data, until I contacted WeRecoverData recovery data. They are the only one that manage to do it.

The hard drive on our iMac failed earlier this year and after multiple attempts to recover the data on my own, an online search led me to WeRecoverData. The process of dropping off my drive, the ease of following the process online, the transparency of the estimate, and options for payment were timely, and handled very professionally. The best news is.they recovered our (what we thought to us was) lost data! Thanks to the team that handled the case! Having a hard drive fail is not a pleasant experience and I hope that it doesn't happen to us again, but if it does, I know where I will send it for recovery!

After getting an approximate estimate of $800-$1200 on the phone to recover data from a MacBook that wouldn't power on, I received a official estimate of $4000.

I absolutely do not recommend WeRecoverData. Here is my experience that led to this conclusion:
- I wanted to stay local so I chose a company I believed was. WeRecoverData had a local phone number and showed up on maps with a physical local address. When I called, they talked as if they were here in Edmonton. They confirmed for me where their location was and invited me to come by to drop our USB off. It wasn't until I was there that it became clear that they simply hired some third party company to receive drives and send them off to some other centralized location. The person was rude and difficult and could not answer my questions about WeRecoverData or their business. There were no signs and communication was terrible with no explanation about the process, they asked questions that I had already supplied through my online form request, etc.etc. I immediately began to regret my decision to go with these guys, but I had already paid the required fee so I didn't have much of a choice at that point.
- Before I received the assessment results, I received an email from WeRecoverData inviting me to come back to their website because they could tell from my web browser history that I had been on their website. I was stunned. How could they know my web browser history? I called my own company's IT and they said it was a scam and they were BSing me. My IT could give me no explanation why any company would say that and assured me they did not have access to my web browser history. I suspect they used my email that I submitted in the online form in order to send me the email. But why on earth would any company say something like that? It just smells rotten. I wrote to them to challenge their practice and requested an explanation and received no response.
- When the assessment came back, it came with a detailed description that felt more like reading an infomercial about their proprietary processes, etc.etc.trying to build up "the sell" before they told me the price and what was actually wrong with it. They eventually got to the point and asked for $2,000-$3,500 to fix my flash drive through their proprietary process. Of course, I was floored with the price as in my call there wasn't even a hint that it could end up being in that ballpark. Just unreal. At the bottom of the page I can then select the options of how I want to proceed or if I want to surrender the $100 assessment fee and have the drive sent back. That is what I selected.
- After making that selection, I received no acknowledgement, no email, nothing at all confirming that they would be returning my drive. I waited several days and when there was still nothing, I reached out by email again and asked them to send it back. Rather than confirm they would return it, I received another long email trying to pressure me into agreeing to their fee because they are so awesome and proprietary and no one else has the ability to recover my data, and I really need to spend that if I want my data etc.etc. I said no and again reiterated my request for them to return my drive and they finally agreed to send my drive back. This time they actually did.

But this is what put me over the edge: I took it to another local place here in Edmonton. They did a free assessment and, over the phone, gave me the ballpark quote of $20 for a simple problem or up to $450 for the worst case scenario. We used them and the cost came in even less.

There is absolutely nothing that can justify WeRecoverData's pricing and practices that I experienced. In my view, they are unethical and exploitative. I would strongly advise you go somewhere else.
