West Edmonton Bottle Depot

There’s no machine counting the cans and stuff you give them, so don’t expect to get your moneys worth; they eyeball everything. Also, they don’t ‘take’ glass, so they’ll happily take the bottles off of you, but won’t give you anything for it. Avoid this place

These people aren’t counting accurately. I just brought my bottles and cans back and watched them put 6 cans in the bin several time and they only added as if they put 5.

I grew tired of the bottle depot near me and decided to check out a different one (this one) recently.

What I liked:
- Website mentions that if you are ever in doubt about the accuracy of the count, you can ask to see the security footage
- If you have a lot of bottles, they have shopping carts available
- There are ~5 (or 6?) bottle-counting stations available, so you just have to wait in line for a light to flash then go to that station
- Relatively clean (I did not notice a smell)
- The attendant was very diligent while counting my bottles -he did not rush; he took his time counting the bottles carefully- and his count was the same as mine
- The attendant provides you with a receipt that you then take over to a scanner, which dispenses the money to you (like at the self-checkout machine at the grocery store)
- The money dispensed was newer coins, and all Canadian money (no US coins)
- An older man (owner?) assisted me with figuring out what to do with the receipt, as I had no idea what I was supposed to do with it

What I didn't like:
- Some customers gave off Costco-parking-lot type energy (aggressive), like they had to beat you to the depot entrance
- Parking is kind of willy-nilly
- Website mentions that you can sort, pre-count your bottles, then bag and tag them, but the attendant just asks you to dump the bags and doesn't ask whether you've pre-counted the bottles
- Typo: website mentions that "Containers over 1L are All Containers 1 litre or less in size"

Overall, my first visit was a good one and I will return.

Whenever I visit, the staff is always kind and honest. Even when they are tired, they smile without showing it and quickly handle everything.

They always do a fare count. Best bottle depot around. I've cashed in $1400 in bottles this month and they have always been consistent. It's better because the person who counts your bottles is not the person who pays you so there is no way for the counter to rip you off and keep your money. Great job west end bottle depot.

Staff is polite, fast, and accurate on their counts

This bottle Depot is my favorite one. I have been coming here ever since I moved to Edmonton 10 years ago. Even when I was living in Saint albert for many years I would still drive to this depo on the west end just to return my bottles. I have tried a couple other ones over the years and none have compared to here.the staff is friendly and will always greet you with a smile. Right to the time you walk away. This place does not rip you off. I have counted all my cans many times before I even go here and my amount of empties I had come up with.they counted the same amount and yes of course give or take a couple of cans. The line goes really fast. They always have every window open. Inside and out the place is clean. There is lots of buggies so you never have to wait for them and they all work and are clean. So if you want to find a great place here it is you found it

You have to count the bottles with them, because they are fools. And it is better to pass in other techniques.

Unfriendly container receivers. Naturally, they can cheat on the number of bottles in their favor. I do not advise.

Thanks so much for taking back all those bottles. Really appreciated with all the friendly and very very hard working people. I went here for first time and it was not difficult at all to find out what to do, just simply load your bottles to a cart and bring it to a counter, get the cash code and exchange for money. I put tips for them as they were working hard. Will come back when mine is full again.

It was excellent service, very fast counting, just a few minutes in line, very friendly people.

I've been going here for yrs and they ripped me off once and I thought once is once.
Then it happened again, so I talked with management. We looked on the cameras and all it shows is their hands moving an amount that's it.
So they said they are not ripping off! No more for me, as I will go else where.
So I went to winterburn and received more money for what I had and friendlier staff and cleaner. Winterburn from now on for me
