I stayed at the Galen Loft apartments by Westcorp for 4 months this summer. The unit itself is nice and as the pictures were presented. However, BEWARE OF THE HIDDEN FEES.

I spoke to Yifan for a month before my move in regarding my vehicle being at the apartment. She sent the lease, took all my information about my vehicle and nothing was mentioned that it would be $135 additional per month to park until an hour before I moved in. At this point I was driving up from Calgary to Edmonton which she was aware of and I had no choice other than to pay the amount. Highly unethical to send the parking agreement at this point. She also did not mention that the parking garage would be a 10 minute walk from my apartment.

Management is only responsive and wanting to reach out when it comes to collecting rent and when it benefits themselves. I emailed and called over 10 times for linens for my pull out couch. No response and sent yo a call centre for all their buildings. Never received any linens nor a response despite being told they’d be waiting outside my room for me many time. I had make this request a second time a month later for which I didn’t receive a response for a number of days. However, they finally delivered them 2 days after my guest arrived.

There is a hidden linen cleaning fee of $50 no matter the condition of your at the time of departure.

The damage deposit of $500 will not be fully reimbursed no matter the condition of your room. The gentleman who came to do my inspection was shocked how clean my apartment was and only found a small scuff in the closet that was there when I moved in and some minor food burns inside the stove caps (very reasonable for a 4 month stay). He claimed that normally the apartments are trashed and that mine is one of the cleanest he’s ever seen. $150 of cleaning fee was deducted. Ridiculous considering the state of the room and the time I’d put in to clean it throughly. Not to mention he was 45 minutes late to the inspection without notice, making me late for work that day. He called me 30 minutes after the appointment time to let me know he got busy with other tenants.

We run a business and are housing 20 employees in Edmonton next summer. We were planning on giving our business to Westcorp, however after this experience, we will be looking elsewhere for housing. We are highly disappointed with the way they treat their guests and the continuous unexpected charges

I live with westcorp as my property managers in greisbach for over 5 years now and they have been great since day one. Friendly easy to deal with staff. Their maintance team handles and fixes problems very fast. Great all around experience. I would recommend them to anyone.
