I’ve noticed many people complain about negative interactions with staff but for every negative there are many positives that don’t get written. Personally, I had some specific needs and Vanessa went above and beyond to accommodate. Big thanks!

Well, where do I start.
10 if I could for sure!

Many complain if things are not to their liking but few put positives out where they are deserved. This place is a beautiful Gem in the heart of Jasper. An original hotel that has been renovated and kept pristine. Ontop of all that, they are renovating again. They really are valuing this beauty and it's character/quality.
Such a find.

The service is amazing as they always want to please.
Manager Vanessa is Amazing and such a kind soul that works so hard for us all. Her team under her leadership are all incredible that keeps it a positive beautiful place. They are all real people that laugh with you and appreciate you. Now if you ask for something and they can't provide, it's because they can't but they always rise to the occasion for their great customers. Staffing and supply is tough. No need to be mean, as vinegar doesn't catch flies but honey does.

We are regular patrons/ customers there at the Whistlers Inn and the Whistle Stop Pub. We travel 3.5hrs multiple times a year to be there. This is the only hotel in the heart of Jasper and everything is within walking distance. This town is not over developed as to maintain the authentic mountain town feel.

Parking is an issue as the town has squeezed and surrounded the Inn, but there is plenty of parking across or just down the street that the staff will help you with. Ask them. Just pull up, drop luggage off to check in and park after. All a short walk. The so called parking close to the Hotel, the town charges rental for and stalls are so few, the spots are reserved for higher priced suites that pay $$$. This makes sense as they are not cheap at all.

All in all, it's absolutely amazing, and then, its crowned off with the roof top hottubs that no one else can boast about. We will stay no place else as we have been spoiled by The Whistlers Inn staff, service, amenities, and convenience.

Thank you to Whistlers Inn.
We appreciate you GREATLY.

Sincerely,
~Thomas and Suzanne

Jasper is a tiny summer seasonal resort town. Most money businesses make relies on summer tourism with minimal winter activities and access. Its resources are limited, and the many restrictions on the town for expansion imposed by Parks Canada to sustain the environmental impact on the area do not allow for glitzy expenditures to modernize the buildings. There are many newer places on the outskirts of the town, but you will need to either drive into downtown or walk the distance to and from.

This was our first of many visits to Jasper. We wanted to stay close to downtown and experience the town on this trip. We will remain outside Jasper for future trips as we have explored the whole town. We will take in the many hiking trails in the surrounding areas. If you want the high-end experience - stay in Banff. But we were in Jasper to hike and explore. We only needed a place to clean up and rest in the evenings between hiking and exploring.

Keeping this in mind, I will tell you about our experience at the Whistlers Inn.

We stayed 3 nights at the Whistlers Inn. It is located in the heart of Downtown Jasper, across from the Jasper Information Center and Train Station. It is within walking distance of the whole town. There are a lot of restaurants, historical buildings, and shopping within 5 minutes. The hotel is dated. But keep in mind what I said above. If you want glamour and glitz - go to Banff.

Parking on-site is limited. We arrived pretty late, so we had to unload the car and then drive it to a public parking spot, which was closer to walk to than to drive to. However, being guests at the hotel, our parking at the lot was covered. The next day, we were able to snag a spot at the hotel from someone who left.

The room we were in was small and dated. However, the bed, linens, and room cleanliness were excellent. The room had a small fridge to keep our water bottles in for daily hikes and outings. The room also had air conditioning. This is a must, especially as the summers in Alberta are beginning to get warmer and sleeping in a hot room is not relaxing. The air conditioning kept the room very comfortable even when the daytime temperature was 30C, and nighttime temperature was hovering in the high teens. The staff was attentive and pleasant to deal with. Only once did we feel that there was a small attitude from one of the front desk people, but we put it off as being young and new to the industry.

We did not eat at the hotel as we ate our meals at the many other restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Overall, we were glad to have chosen the Whistlers Inn. The clean room, location in the town, and the AC made it worth our first stay in Jasper.

TL;DR: clean rooms, great location, terrible customer service (Keith), unwillingness to improve (Vanessa), street parking on your own (paid by the hotel), old mattress, too expensive for what it offers

We were initially surprised to learn that they reserve the on premises parking spots to the suite guests. This wasn’t specified anywhere when we booked. Because it was raining, this was very upsetting as we only found a spot on the street 3 blocks away. Keith, the receptionist, was very rude from the start and couldn’t care less about the situation. They had suites available at the time so a parking spot on the building was available, but he kept saying it was full. At one point he even mentioned that he couldn’t give us the spot because he didn’t want to be yelled at later, in a passive aggressive tone. The only thing he asked is if we were willing to pay the difference and get a suite instead. When we asked to see the manager he said no one was on site at the time and that was it. It was the worst customer service I’ve seen.
Checking more reviews later on revealed that this is a recurring problem, along with other issues we noticed as well. Considering that the general manager Vanessa has been in charge for over 26 years, it looks like they don’t really care about it and know that guests will show up regardless because Jasper is a hot destination
The room is decent, old, but clean (the carpet could use some renovation as it’s very stained). A lot of noise can be heard, both from the street and inside the hotel.
If you enjoy cuddling, the mattress will be perfect for you, as it is so deformed that you and your partner will always fall to the center together
Location is awesome, short walk distance to pretty much anywhere of interest in the city

Well priced compared to many other hotels nearby. Ample parking, easy check in and very comfortable rooms. Staff all helpful- laundrette nearby which is very good! Plenty of places to eat nearby within walking distance

Amazing location, right downtown and walk-able to everything you need in Jasper. Parking isn't right on site, but they will pay for ONE vehicle per room and the lot is only about 2 blocks away. Rooftop hot tubs are a really really nice touch and were clean. One hot tub is quite hot, the other not so much - great to have that variety. Views from up there are beautiful. Staff are friendly. Room is average, clean but a bit outdated and could use some maintenance. One elevator. Would stay again for the location alone, but it is definitely nothing fancy.

Spent a couple days in Whilsters Inn. Staff are brilliant, rooms super spacious, parking so handy too. Whistle stop bar really fun too!

This is the 1st hotel I have seen in my life where ALL reception personnel does not greet the guests. Every single time. Prepare for a nightmare at this woefully mismanaged hotel, where even the senior receptionist is clueless about customer service. They send a 20-year-old with a thick English accent, who displays shocking apathy when my wife raises concerns about the room reeking of cigarette smoke. Instead of addressing the issue, he bluntly denies any odor, disregarding our valid complaint. But that's just the beginning of this dreadful ordeal—the hallways are an assault on the senses, with their repugnant stench and grimy, old carpets. The room itself is a time capsule of outdated furniture, resembling a museum exhibit. Oh, and let's not forget the pitiful state of the electrical outlets that can't even hold a charger properly. Prepare for sleepless nights on rock-like mattresses. And don't even think about receiving basic toiletries—this place is too stingy to provide them. Avoid this travesty at all costs!

Great hotel. Shame weather was so hot whilst we were there as couldn't use hot tub due to heat!

What a disgraceful hotel experience! Are the staff allergic to politeness? Apparently so! Prepare yourself for the pinnacle of unprofessionalism and inhospitality when you step foot into this establishment. It's an absolute rarity to be ignored upon entering a hotel, but here they've perfected it. The receptionists, who are supposed to be the face of hospitality, couldn't care less about acknowledging guests. It's evident they hire clueless temporary European employees who lack any inkling of experience in the industry. The entire hotel screams outdated, and don't even think about finding a plastic bag in the ice bucket! To top it off, they're too stingy to provide enough towels and toiletries. Clearly, customer care is a foreign concept to this place. What a disappointment!

Aside from the prime location, the staff are attentive and rooms here are great value for money. Haters gonna hate but this place is solid all around. Great management in a tough labour environment.

Perfect and central location. The room was really big and beautiful, very rustic and typical of the mountains. It included all the comforts: shower, bathtub, toiletries, TV, fridge. It costs a bit considering it's a 3 star but obviously it's high season so that's to be expected.

Good location. Fair rooms and good staff. Only problem was limited parking onsite and we had to park inner by municipal parking but you don't have to pay for parking as hotel covers it.
26 June 2023 13:43
VERY NOISY! Paper thin walls, ceiling creaking from the room above when someone is walking. Good luck getting a restful sleep day or night!
10 parking spots on site for the whole building. Poor customer service from the lady at reception during checkout.

Except the location everything was ok ok.room were outdated. NO MICROWAVE in the room at all.all beds and pillows needs to be updated.very old funky smell.for that price needs to be little clean and need upgrade.specially bed pillows and carpet.

Very central, located directly opposite the train station. Everything is very clean, but also very noisy. The heating and air conditioning system are getting on in years and should be replaced. Very friendly staff.

Hottub has great views. Hotel/Inn was what is expected from a location like Whistler, good food, service and a big price.
01 June 2023 7:59
Nice and clean hotel and big room. Very friendly staff. If the in-house car park is full, the hotel will organize a car park in the area.
28 May 2023 20:57
Room directly above the bar with outside terrace.
1x glazed. No chance of one or two quiet nights. Actually, you sleep in the bar.if you could sleep. In addition, it is located at a crossroads. All night long cars that absolutely have to go with too much gas. Definitely: never again

We arrived before check in. They were able to set us up with free local parking. Great pub. Didn't try the restaurant as there are so many to try in Jasper. Room was excellent and included a fridge and great view of the railyard and mountains. Hot tub looked amazing. Kinda easier to shower in your room than at the tubs though.

Great location, quick check in, was able to score parking but its limited. Rooms are what I expected (Older but in good condition) but very clean. They have 2 roof top hot tubs which come in handy after a long day of walking and hiking. Brewery just a 2 min walk away was also nice. The small detail that I loved was housekeeping putting the glasses in the fridge, magnificent touch! Bathroom and the shower are clean and maintained.

I cannot stress this enough. You guys were a godsend in one of the hardest times for my family. I cannot express enough just how appreciative we are of you guys. Thank you so much for permitting our pet to stay with us in lieu of the evacuation order for our hometown. We couldn't find much else for vacancies and yeah this is kind of a frazzled mess of a review - sorry about that, it has been an ordeal. Also Lea was an incredible help on the phone during all of this and she deserves a raise for sure. Thank you, God bless you all!

Fair priced with very clean rooms. Loved the rooftop hot tubs. Nice place to stay in Jasper.

Was pleasantly surprise by this hotel. Room was very clean and finishing were older, but it was very comfortable. Enjoyed the mini fridge in the room and the room was very large in size. Only downside was there’s extremely limited parking at the back and the closest parking lot is 3 minutes away walking. Kind of annoying when unloading your stuff but not the biggest deal. I stopped in the pub attached to the hotel for a pint and some food, food was very good, chill vibe in the pub as well. However it got very loud outside around 1am from people who were partying I had earplugs so I was fine but if that bothers you just keep that in mind around the weekend
