We just had the most delicious meal at Wild Thyme. I had the ravioli with rose sauce, the kids had alfredo and ravioli, my husband had the alfredo special with chicken and mushrooms, my father had the chicken cacciatore and my stepmom had the alfredo. Every single dish was cooked perfectly. My Dad said the chicken cacciatore was the best italian food he’d ever eaten.
Mike, the owner, chef and server, was friendly, kind and efficient as always.
I regret not taking pictures of our meals but they smelled so wonderful we had begun eating before I even stopped to think of a photo!
My niece said the restaurant was “very cozy and her favourite food place ever” (she’s 6:)
We used to eat here regularly until we had our son and this was such a nice treat to have dinner here again.
My husband and I were looking for a place to have lunch. We came across this lovely place and decided to try it. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. It's small with seating for 25 people. The decor is antique and has a pretty fireplace. The server was prompt and very nice. The food was very fresh and tasty. I had a Caesar salad, French onion soup, and 1 Italian meatball. My husband had a turkey sandwich with minestrone soup and 1 meatball. We will definitely come back if we are in the area. Great place!
Tried the Wild Thyme Cafe for the first time last weekend. The food is so delicious! We ordered the chicken pasta Alfredo and the lasagna, and we can’t wait to try more items on the menu. It tastes like genuine Italian - very very FRESH. Our pasta staple from now on in the town of Nanton. We noticed the menu was not online so we meant to take a snapshot of it… but then forgot! So I will add it later after our next visit.
Small town Italian restaurant with excellent food. The owner was the only person in the restaurant and he cooked and served us an impeccable dinner complete with a very tasty home baked strawberry and rhubarb pie. I highly recommend stopping here when visiting the very quaint and beautiful town of Nanton.
OMG we had lunch here today! Ceaser salad and bruschetta to start and cannelloni for our main Even if you don’t live near here, take a drive out, you won’t be disappointed all homemade
Amazing little restaurant in Nanton. The burgers are good, but the pasta is outstanding. My sister had the cannelloni and it was spectacular. I hadthe chicken parm, which was also excellent.
The owner also makes homeade pies that are qorth saving room for. Better than my Mom's apple pie lol.
Cant recommended this place enough. If you're in Calgary its worth the drive down.
Nice and cozy atmosphere, that great decor, fireplace and artwork. There is also seating for the warmer months outside, easy access from hwy 2.portion sizes could be a bit bigger, but all in all was a great little stop while in Nanton, AB
Stopped into this place after sampling some local brewery tasting rooms. Wasn't expecting the best Cannelloni I've ever had. Loved the Ceasar salad starter as well. Owner is a really nice fella. Told us some stories from Italy. Great experience. Will visit again.
2 orders of escargot would have feed the four of us. French onion soup, spaghetti and meat sauce, cannelloni, ravioli 4 cheese in cream sauce. The wine the of owner suggested went extremely well with our dinner. The owner was the only staff there. He did everything. Highly recommend if you're driving Nanton, stop and eat there. Next time I'm out that way I'll stop fo a bite.
I ordered the bison burger and it was so tough that it was even difficult to cut with a knife. It made the burgers you can buy at 7 11 taste gourmet in comparison. The only reason this review got one star is because the potatoes that came with it were good. The very worst burger I've ever had by far
Worst meal I have had in years! Got the chicken ceaser ($20) and it came out with soggy romaine, gross dressing (don’t even think it was ceaser dressing), no croutons, no bacon, the chicken tasted like it was boiled or microwaved and way too salty. Gross and overpriced
Wasn’t expecting Italian meal when we stopped into the Wild Thyme Cafe for lunch while driving through Nanton this week, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had chicken cacciatore and chicken parmigiana, both excellent. The only thing I would like to see is a selection of local Alberta craft beers. I’ll be stopping in again.
Prices are steep. We got the wrong starter tasted really good. The guy was nice. Presentation was lacking. Was just raviolis floating in sauce. There was too much sauce, and it was rather thin and hard to eat. Didn't cling to the raviolis. I would've appreciated garlic toast with my pasta, especially at 21 dollars. At 21 dollars I expect cheese.
If you ever pass through Nanton, take the time to stop here for a bite to eat! Its a really beautiful little place. The owner is so nice and there are some wonderful options for you to choose from! Everything from pasta, sandwhiches, desserts, coffee to boozy drinks!
The owner extended his work hours for us. How gracious of him. Service was excellent. The food serving was huge and absolutely delicious. It was cozy inside. The owner took time to talk to us. I highly recommend this restaurant/cafe when you visit Nanton.
Fabulous food. Friendly owner. Great home cooked flavors. Dessert pie and meat ball were both awesome. Rose sauce on the spagetti was the best we have ever had.
I have to so it is best italian food they serve. The pasta come with rich olive oil that some garlic taste. The onion soup is soft and tasty. Oil on the top keep it warm longer time. Will back next time.
What an adorably cute little restaurant in Nanton. Simple menu of good basics that are super delicious. The (what I suspect is the owner) is so so friendly. Quiet. Intimate. COVID friendly. I’m so happy I was driving through and found this little place. Also authentic Italian preserves and art are for sale. Really enjoyed this little gem.
Absolutely horrible! I really want local businesses to thrive but I’ve been disappointed twice at this restaurant. The first time I ordered lasagna and it was still cold in the middle, not cool but almost frozen cold. I can let that slide but then I ordered a burger…. I swear that the meat had expired, maybe not quite rotten but it was bad. It was the worst burger I’ve ever had. I know I shouldn’t expect an Italian restaurant to be great at burgers but that was $19 for rancid meat. Overpriced garbage is what you can expect.
Very good food, and the atmosphere is really neat. I like how they did up the place, and really good portion sizes. Gems like these are why getting out of the city every once in while really pays off!
This place is incredible. It may not look like much but I will 100% drive down from North Calgary just eat the food here. My god, it's delicious and the owner is so friendly. Stop here if you get the chance, you won't regret it.
True Italian food. We passed by and stopped, only order app. But other tables order came out the portion size is great. Will go back again to update the star.
Such a lovely little Cafe! We were travelling back from Waterton National Park to Calgary and needed coffee.this place was exactly what we needed. Coffee was amazing and such a friendly owner. The food looked awesome will definitely be going for lunch next time we pass through!
Amazing food. Had a pizza and some pie. Walked in and saw the lil ol Italian man, knew it was gonna be good. Didn't disappoint, will definitely be back!
I like everything about Wild Thyme. Even the drive out from Calgary and especially the food. My favourite is the Caesar Salad, I have no idea how it is so fresh every time.
Amazing Fettucini! And all made and served by the owner. If in Nanton, this is a must go place as their food and desserts are truly amazing! The price/portion rate is very generous!
My husband and I had the sirloin burgers they were so good. I loved the pan fried potatoes instead of fries. Our daughter had the Cannelloni she loved it. Loved our server he was great
Great staff, great food. Large portions for there spaghetti and lasanga. I try to stop by on my way home every once in a while to bring some home for my wife and I.
Good food and service, but the prices are unworldly, unless you're eating off of the daily specials menu. $25/plate for a simple chicken dinner, $30+/plate for just about anything steak, in small town Nanton, come on, I'd expect prices like that from a much higher end restaurant in a big city. I'm not surprised that business is for sale.
So dang good! We ordered a pepperoni pizza, as well as chicken and beef pot pies and lasagna to go. If you want legitimate pepperoni on your pizza - go here. None of that lil, thin stuff - this is the real deal!
I felt oddly protective of the older Italian gentleman running the place - so sweet and kind and best of all, he makes great food! It’s been difficult for them not having customers in the restaurant (due to COVID closures) but they’re doing their best by offering takeout and household items. The lasagna was made fresh that morning and it was a delicious dinner, even after reheating. Lastly, the meat pies were the best we’ve ever had!
Go support local and enjoy all the amazing food Wild Thyme offers! Definitely worth a stop on your way heading through or around Nanton.
Stopped in about 10 years ago and the food was fantastic. Stopped in a couple years later and food was only average. Recently stopped in again hoping for an improvement and was not disappointed. Food was fresh and portions were decent and service was good. Pizza was excellent! The pizza sauce was very tasty, tomato'e but not acidic like most. The chicken parmigiana was also exceptionally well prepared and, again, the sauce was fantastic! Definitely worth the drive for a romantic and rustic experience.
