I took the Intermediate Pottery Wheel class with Diane and I had a blast! My experience with pottery was extremely limited, but Diane was very patient and explained all the actions she was taking. All the participants in my class were really friendly and easy to get along with.

It's worth every penny, and I'm looking forward to taking more classes!

Great value for money. We always love the fun of building an addition to our winter village in clay

The facilities and the staff are top notch here. I registered for a wheel basics course, which had incredible value! The quality of instruction was great — classes were well-paced and there was plenty of time for individual help if you need it. Will definitely return for more!

I love the space and courses that the city holds. You lack of nothing here; inspiration is right at the front door!

My girl has taken 2 classes for art. One was a drawing class and the other was a mixed class where they did clay, paper mache, painting, and more. She really enjoyed it.the instructor was very friendly!

Wildflower is a city-owned gem that too few people know about. My kids have taken numerous classes here in art, drama, and dance. Wildflower offers adult classes too, plus a nice variety of "family art classes" that parents/grandparents/etc.can take with their kids. I haven't had the time chance to take any adult classes yet but I definitely intend to when my kiddos are older. The student art on display from their adult classes is really impressive.

We love this place! High quality instruction, great facility, and very reasonable prices. The teachers are accomplished in their fields AND actually know how to teach, with strong curriculums. That's harder to find than it ought to be. One look at the quality of current student art on display and you know these programs are teaching real skills, not just passing time with fluffy projects.

The programs are found through the City of Calgary recreation guide. Get the pdf or paper copy if the guide -do NOT use the fancy online filter for finding classes because it will typically only show about 80% of the classes available, if and when it works at all. The city revamped the system over a year ago and only made it worse, ugh beaurocracies. Anyway, the latest pdf of the guide is always easy to find with Google. If the city's online registration system is down (it almost always works for me but some parents don't even try anymore) just phone them, or pop by the school if you can. The staff are terrific.

Anyhow the classes are all about 8-10 weeks long, and offered every season during the school year. They have summer camps, plus other programs over spring break, teachers convention, some at Christmas, etc.

I really appreciate being able to put my kids in a dance class without the big financial commitment of dance schools. My girls love dance but aren't super serious about it yet. The city's dance classes are a far less expensive alternative because there is no big show, no costumes to buy, and no requirements for just the right bodysuit etc etc. And classes are only 1 season -sometimes a full year just isn't practical.

For dance and drama, the last class is always open to families to come watch so they get to perform but in a really low key way.
