I go here all the time, and I’m sorry I haven’t done a review sooner. This store is always super helpful and the staff are always friendly. I will continue to frequent this location and go out of my way if I need to to come here instead of somewhere else.
Had to edit my old review.guy I spoke with in Festool area nearly called me an idiot about something I read online, and left to make a call in mid conversation. Extremely odd, rude, and unintelligent. Please be more selective about hiring your staff.
The staff here are all fantastic and the selection is great! I have a couple Windsor Plywood locations closer to me but I go out of my way to visit this location. Can’t recommend it enough!
I had a great experience at this store. The customer service was fantastic and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They took the time to educate me on how to get things done and had a good selection of products. I would highly recommend this store to other DIYers. Great job, keep up the good work!
First time here and very happy with the large selection of material and service provided by the staff, they are very helpful. Special thanks to Mark and Myles who did a great job.
Have been using Windor Plywood in Canada since the 1960's with my grandpa. This place keeps the tradition of not always best price but the best quality of assorted wood products.
My wife and I just finished building a library in our home. We purchased all our wood at Windsor Plywood. There were many trips there and the service was second to none. They know their product, have good prices, a great selection of exotic hardwoods and had recommendations that made the project easier. Thank you Allison, Myles, Mark and Laurence. All of your helped make this project a great success. I can highly recommend this store for your woodwork projects!
I'm rebuilding my house after a fire and went in to this location to get some doors. I'm somewhere in between "hapless homeowner" and "full time contractor", so I'm not completely new to things but also am not familiar with all the "this is how it's usually done" that they take for granted.
A bunch of things went wrong with my order, and their only response is basically "you signed off on it". Which, sure, I did. However, things were put into the order I specifically said I didn't want (janky ball latches for double closet doors), and for some reason the rough opening measurements I brought in were followed for all but one pair of closet doors, which they just took and thought "well here's the number so that's what we're using". That means that for my ~34" rough opening, they supplied two 34" doors. Why that one only? No reason, that's just what they did.
And because "I signed off on it", despite their invoices being confusing at best, and literally not itemized, (shop labour is put at a minute count but no price attached) (ball latches not having a price listed) (etc), they're trying to get an extra 20% on the order to fix it.
Then because they threw the ball latches in, I have to rebuy all my double door head jambs because they machined out for the strike plates.that I'm not going to use.
So far so good. They are storing my order until I can arrange pick up. Pricing was very competitive. Geoff in sales knocked it out of the park. Great job guys.
I came in half an hour to close and all the employees I talked to were pleasant, interested, and willing to help with everything I needed. The selection of wood is fantastic, as to be expected, and there was a ton of variety even within the same species; plenty of options for any project.
I had to buy 3 bedroom doors that were 30 years old, Cody was great finding us the same doors and had them ordered and ready for the deadline I needed, they even went over and above and picked up my doors from my house to save time. Thank you Cody and your team
These guys are awesome, a real pleasure to deal with. My experience shopping at Windsor was excellent. Service and quality is more than I would ever expect. So different then going to the box stores.
Was looking for some cabinet grade plywood, Windsor plywood has a large selection of different types and thicknesses. Was anle to make a quick decision and purchase. Sales guy was very helpful-he carried the product to my vehicle and loaded it. Many thanks!
What an incredible gem this store is. A huge selection of rare and fantastic wood, great prices on all kinds of hardware and lumber, and without a doubt the BEST customer service I think I have ever experienced anywhere.if I could give Windsor 6 stars, they would be the one business to deserve it. I have completely stopped going anywhere else for my needs, and make the drive out from Canmore anytime I need something else. Windsor simply cannot be beat.
Wonderful place to buy hardwood and supplies. Largest selection of rare or semi rare hardwoods in Calgary! Friendly staff and non pushy sales, always willing to help with what you're trying to build. Prices for hardwood are in line with Canadian standards as the quality is great.
Finally started looking for wood not supplied by the big box stores.
Shopped around at 5 other wood suppliers in Calgary. Some I was able to get assistance after some effort, others not at all
At Windsor plywood West I was immediately assisted with my project. I had all my measurements in both total feet and in the board lengths I'd need. Cody helped me out and even got everything cut down to fit in my vehicle.
I was in on a weekday and everyone that works there seemed to be eager to help.
Turns out I had my measurements wrong. I screwed up. I went back in and was assisted with my problem and fully satisfied beyond expectations.
Called ahead to get an idea on how to DIY stain my deck; and then showed up maybe 30mins later and the staff had already prepared a complete kit for staining my deck. Everything I needed and a ton of suggestions for items I should consider. The best thing about it was that I had to go to a big brand name depot to get a pressure washer and the line up was crazy crazy long in these covid times - probably shouldn't write a review about great service and skipping the crowds because then people will be flocking here instead:)
Great store with pretty good selection but lately I've had quite a few troubles with orders so make sure you triple check they order the right thing for you since they ordered the wrong hinges for me two times in a row. The third time they did get it right but when I picked them up the guy tried to tell me the hinges he ordered in (for the 3rd time) which were finally the half overlay soft close were the same as the ones I returned which were full overlay. I had to point out the difference to him and got no apology or discount for having to go there 3 times and wait over two weeks even tho I ordered what I wanted correctly the first time. It was a small order and probably quite a bit of hassle for them but ultimately it was on them and they could have handled it a little better from a service standpoint. I'll still go back but probably avoid ordering things in.
Went in with an idea - to make a quilt rack. My usual - no idea what wood to use, no idea what colour stain I wanted. From the moment I stepped in the store the guys (all of them, not just a stand-out one or two) at Windsor Plywood were super friendly and helpful (unlike the big box stores who shall remain nameless). They helped me with the wood I needed without getting cranky when I wanted to pick the boards I wanted (not at the front of the pile of course.). They were so accommodating with my 'analysis paralysis' over choosing a stain that they made a sample board with a scrap of the wood I chose, with the colours of stains I was debating over. AMAZING! They also solved a problem I was having with how to cover the ugly screw holes. From the minute I stepped in to the minute I left, I felt truly valued as a customer. Although the store is a pain to get to (way to go City of Calgary for making roads so easy), they now have a customer for life with this weekend project gal!
I was looking for some wood panels and I was assisted by one of the most helpful customer service staff I've ever met. He suggested multiple options, pointed out where I could save money and cut the boards down for me in minutes. Prices were amazing too.
Every time I shop here, I wonder why I ever go to the big box stores.
Excellent staff.quality product.fair pricing. Their top notch customer service is something that is getting harder to find out there but is what will keep people coming back. Windsor West is my new go to!
I purchased $150, they gave $8 discount, but they charged for 2 wood cuts, which is not fit in my car. Usuallly no other like home depot etc never charged. Except that every thing was good.
Awesome store for all your unique lumber & wood working needs. Very knowledgeable staff, who are willing and eager to help you the second you walk through the door.
Amazing selection of exotic wood. Reasonably priced and extremely helpful staff. Anything related to finishing carpentry. Whether you are a pro or a hobby carpenter, it seems like a great place to get your supplies.
Today I dropped into Windsor to purchase some plywood and I asked for assistance from the young lady at the desk named Cindy. She started off aggressively answering my questions when I asked for other options she proceeded to be critical and assuming. I then asked her if she could show me where the nails were and in a bullying tone said “I don’t sell nails! ” I tend to never post however today’s experience needs to be addressed it really reflects on this business and it doesn’t deserve it. I been coming to Windsor for 7 years at this location and never had a bad experience in past.
