We chose here for the gluten free options for the family. It is just as good as the regular stuff. My grandma was really happy to be able to have onion rings again. We got the cod fish and chips family meal.
For sure, one of the best fish and chip shops in the city. To start off, I ordered the Boston clam chowder, and it was a treat to eat, homey and smooth, good for the cold weather. Then the cod came, very fresh, crisp and very light to eat. Chips were also crispy and moist. The coleslaw was well balanced and really compliments the dish as a whole. Definitely a place to recommend and will come back for sure.
We've had their fish and chips three times now. This was the first time we managed to eat in the restaurant. We already thought that the fish and chips were very good, but eating in the restaurant elevated the experience to excellent. Very friendly service.
Update: Still fantastic food and friendly service.
Took my wife here for dinner and it was one of my best fish & chips experiences. The food is clean and crisp and the servers are very friendly. Highly recommend.
We went March 12th, we tried the Boston Clam Chowder. The soup had a bad aftertaste to it and totally lacked the featured clams (lots of filler potatoes though). We ordered the Cod Fish & Chips. We all believed the fish had been sliced into 1/3rds (was really really thin piece of fish) on mine 4 inches in the middle had no fish. Gravy was good.
This fish and chip restaurant is amazing, best fish since we moved here from Nova Scotia, excellent service from Kelly and had our appetizers served by Jay who was nothing but polite excellent all around experience, will definitely return
Went in for an early dinner and had a great experience. The staff were really friendly, and the food came out quickly. I got the cod full meal deal and it was really good
Oh we enjoy fishing here the calamari and mushy pea appetizers are really good. And the one piece with chips is plenty for a meal, if you do two pieces with an appetizer it is way too much. Friendly staff that is good at the service side of things. The beer is excellent for a British pub. It is nice. Very clean.
The Halibut was on point. So was the homemade English sticky Toffee pudding. Very good. However. The fries were out of a frozen bag. The slaw was decent.but not quite (too much Dill). The service was absolutely quick and attentive. The wonderful woman at the bar (Kelly) made me an absolutely wonderful drink. Overall, I will visit again. Modern world catering, when I was looking for old school.
This is the best haddock fish and chips I have found in Edmonton and would make any maritimer proud awesome food and great service from Kelly and Jay. We will be back for more delicious.
Dined in for lunch, both ordered the 1 piece pollack and chips (fries) meal deal which came with coleslaw and a can of pop or coffee. The batter was light, non greasy and deliciously crisp as too the chips. Fish and chips piping hot, coleslaw flavourful and a decent serving size too. Service was timely, friendly waitress checked on us a few times. Nice ambience and clean look to the restaurant. Ladies toilets all functioning and clean. Price reasonable. Highly recommend this location on 51 Ave and 105st Edmonton.
My parents were visiting from Lethbridge, where they don't have a good gluten free option for fish & chips, but Winston's is now a staple when they visit.
Oh my goodness. I travelled from Vancouver island and just couldn’t wait to give this place a try. I had heard so many great things about the place and every one was true. Incredibly fresh haddock and the batter was one of the best I’ve tried. Keep up the great work Jay. Was a please meeting you and will be back!
Hi stopped in finally after moving from mississauga. Nice place-great staff.got take out had a beer while waiting.halibut meal w pieces and chips-delicious but 1 piece was half the size of the other! A burrito and a hockey puck.i will go again.pricey but tasty.
Very disappointed, this is supposed to be an authentic british fish and chip shop, what i got was was cavendish frozen french fries from costco and chewy rubbery fish that was obviously frozen but battered onsite.very average and unforgivable that a so called fish and chip shop doesnt even serve chips.frozen french fries are not chips and if you dont know the difference you should open a burger place instead.the owner, to his credit, offered to not charge me for the meal, I paid the $58 as we had eaten most of the fish but I have to say if you are too lazy to peel a potato then you are in the wrong business.
We stopped in for supper on a Sat night. Place was bustling with what seemed to be regular customers. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was absolutely spot on. We both had Alaskan Pollock. Coleslaw was fresh and delicious. Cozy, friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Definitely will make the trip back for more.
Great restaurant with really good service. Fish and chips is very good here, large portions of fish and fantastic gravy for the fries, over all I was very impressed!
Took 45 minutes to get a 3 piece. Way to much batter and fish wasn't even cooked through. So dissapoimted. Still trying to find a legit British fish and chips.
Winston's Fish & Chips is the first restaurant my wife and I have been to, since dine in was re-allowed. We we’re definitely not disappointed. The restaurant was busy and yet we still got our food in a timely manner. As for the food, I can honestly say that we have found our favourite fish and chips and related restaurant. The portions are generous and tasty. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a good English fish and chips. And yes I’m British so I’m fussy when it comes to fish and chips. My wife had the deep fried oysters and she devoured them, so I’m going to presume that they were great too.
Tried out Winston's food truck at Kingsway Mall yesterday and it was some of the best fish and chips I have had. Great service, generous portions, lots of different condiments and everything tasted really good. Will definitely check out their restaurant and see what else they have on the menu. Highly recommend!
So sad it took me 4 years to find a good fish and chips place.and I managed to find one just as good as my favorite back home. Service was great owner was nice and the FOOD WAS AWESOME. So hard to find a place that does amazing beer free batter. Good portion sizes and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back. My new favorite fish and chips place.
Owner was friendly, gave great history on the place and recipie. The fish was amazing, a tad on greasy side and the bigger pieces were a little more mushy inside then I'd love but over all the experience was 5*. Tartar sauce was made in house and amazing, and the fries were the ones with the crispy exterior. Can't wait to go back.
Had the 2 piece Haddock full meal deal and even though it was delivery the fish was crisp and fresh and the fries were as well. Definitely made me feel like I was back in the UK eating yummy fish and chips especially with the vinegar glaze to add extra authenticity.
Possibly the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. The service was excellent. Our food was prepared promptly and to perfection. The portions were excellent and so were the staff. We even had a brief encounter with the owner, who was a remarkable man. The encounter was very refreshing and much-needed. I would highly recommend eating here to anyone.
By far the best fish and chips we have found west of Nova Scotia. Great serving staff and the owner was an absolute delight. We will be back multiple times. Can't belive it took us so long to find you.
