This is the best museum of dead gophers I have ever been to! Totally worth a visit if you like to see dead rodents displayed in various diaramas. My personal favorite was the blacksmith gopher.
Finally had a chance to stop by this quirky little museum. We enjoyed checking out all the dioramas, and the volunteer was very informative and helpful. Love the map by the front door that shows where visitors are from! It's a fairly tiny building, but it's still a ton of fun and worth the visit.
Definitely stop in and check out this unique museum. Took us about 10 minutes in total to look through it and ask a few questions. Free admission, accepts donations.
Thoroughly pleasant, quirky novelty stop-off point. The lady who was working was a great, friendly storyteller and kindly recommended some good places for lunch (which we followed up on and were not disappointed).
This is exactly what I thought it would be. A small museum with taxidermied gophers in dioramas. If you have any thought that you would probably like it, you will definitely 100% like it. It is small town nerd fun. I recommend it.
Well worth the drive to good old Torrington AB, truely an experience you will never find anywhere else. World class and world famous! Will visit for years to come!
My friends and I came to check out the World Famous Gopher Hole museum and we’re not disappointed! Had some laughs and got to explore the town of Torrington! Shout out to the amazing Otto who came to open up the museum on a day it was closed and then showing us his lovely garden while we were out searching for the gopher hydrants. 10/10 recommend if your ever in the Torrington area
Pretty goofy and fun place for a quick visit. Entry is by donation. I really enjoyed the paintings and objects put into the backgrounds of the displays.
I am writing this review based on what our U11 hockey team had to say. IT WAS AWESOME! The kids absolutely loved the gopher displays and it seemed the most popular one was the gopher with guns. We would like to extend a huge thank you for the owner/staff opening the doors out of season so that everyone could enjoy this piece of Alberta history! We were there on the weekend of Feb 3,4,5th.
