I have been to multiple gyms but I've never experienced how tricky this place is. I asked to pause my membership and then I would come back to reactivate it. It was reactivated without my knowledge and then I owed over $650.00 to a gym I wasn't even using. I was told if I don't pay they would go to a collection agency. Its fine if I owe that money and I had the chance to actually utilize the gym but I was being charged without knowing I still had an active membership.
Best gym experience, friendly people, workers and great equipment and not too busy, membership rates are competitive and great and the gym even features a sauna and an extra floor for people with vip+ membership. Definetely reccomend anyone looking for a gym downtown choose this one for sure
Got a skin infection from the red light therapy chair. This gym is filthy! Stay away, the staff are rude, with no clue of the ethics of dealing with the public. Snotty 20 yr. Olds.
Great affordability, good equipment and fully equipped, great staffing and customer service in general but if you’re a person that needs to take a shower after working out, this gym might not be the one for you because you can’t adjust the water temperature at all, I had waited for up to 5 mins for hot water and when the hot water finally comes out it’s steaming hot, I have taken cold waters too. I hope this 2023 WG+15 resolution is to upgrade the shower system because it absolutely sucks.
Update: The crowd changed in the past month and I couldn’t handle it anymore, I moved to another gym and it’s definitely an upgrade.
The gym alright nothing special. I moved to a different city and I was told they would process the membership cancellation back in August. Rather than cancelling they kept charging me the weekly fee and when I brought it to their attention they just ignored my emails. Lame customer service
I canceled my membership about a year ago. No records in their computer about it. They requested a cancellation letter that I did not have because it was never issued during COVID time. Even worst, I followed up the cancellation by phone. I left consistently messages that of course “they do not have records for”. World Gym Plus 15 never cancelled my membership and continued charging me weekly fees over a year to my credit card. When I received a notification to my email about outstanding fees, I personally went to the office to explain my case to the manager. He chose to not believe the costumer and surprisingly never offered to return any of the money withdrawn during a year, Even worst, to make the cancellation effective he charged additional “outstanding fees”. Shame on you World Gym Plus 15 for taking the money from my credit card over a year. Please do not allow automatic payments from your accounts or credit cards. That is almost allowing a thieve to enter your home….
While finishing my workout the new personal trainer introduced themselves speaking about new services while exiting the gym, no problem. But then decided to criticize how I workout and said "especially you" pretty much implying that I need personal training from one exercise preformed. Never asked for his opinion nor wanted it or else I would seek for personal training services on my own time. This was right infront of my friend and other staff members. Made me feel super uncomfortable and little does he know my history in the gym. Not impressed by the way to obtain clientele. I am no body builder but I am decently in shape. I wonder how they will treat other clients that are less in shape than I am. Will be cancelling my membership tomorrow. Otherwise gym is pretty quiet compared to others and has a decent amount of machines.
Great gym! I’ve yet to see the gym not be immaculately kept, staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Two standout employees are Jacob and Alex, always warm welcomes for both gentlemen, keen to help with anything to help patrons. Keep it up World Gym!
I switched to this gym from GoodLife. I really enjoy it here. Less busy and they still have most of the regular machines you need. Good free weight section. Friendly staff. Love my new gym
Signed up this week online without having to go in and talk to anyone about "My Goals". Membership rates clearly posted on the website, another huge plus. The club and equipment is new and it's not super busy at 7: 15am when I arrive. Any staff I have dealt with have been excellent. Club is spotless clean.
MI GUSTA MUUUUUCHO! Staff is BEST EVER at any gym I've ever been to! The facility AND staff MAKE this place el numero UNO! BEST gym in all the city of Calgary. None compares. This place is on top. ️️️
Signing up with World Gym +15 was one of the best things I have ever done, clean, not crowded, unreal pricing and very friendly staff! Minoo my personal trainer helped me achieve my goals so far and I love our sessions! What I really like about her is that she knows how to motivate me, she makes each of my training sessions challenging but rewarding. I would have no hesitation in recommending her as your personal trainer if you want to achieve your fitness and health goals.
Just signed up to this gym and i can't be more excited. I had one of the managers (Morgan) assist me and she did an over the top job. She was easy going, nice to talk to and helped me with all my questions i had about the facility. Not only was she nice, but experience in the fitness industry as well. Asking me which machines i was looking for and showing me some i have never seen before. Thanks again Morgan and i will be seeing you around!:)
Folks, I REALLY question the fine print on the 'no term' contract. 'Enrolment' fee is $100 vs $50, and after giving notice to cancel (which I can't do via email, phone, do in person.hmmm, so how could I cancel?) I'd still be obligated to pay for 8 more weeks after cancelling. There are so many hooks to squeeze extra money out of customers, as much as it would be an immensely convenient location I just can't do it. I'll stay where I'm at.
This gym is hands down the best gym in the downtown area! Everything is brand new and so clean. They have Hot Yoga, Spin & Classes with your very own coach for only $20 a week. You can’t beat it! Would highly recommend.
Awesome gym! New, lots of equipment and room to work in. The staff here are very welcoming and helpful. Before signing up, one of their employees, Keith, gave me a tour and actually took the time to listen to what I like doing. He tailored the tour to the stuff I was interested in and got me pumped over trying some of the classes. It’s rare that someone else’s enthusiasm gets me excited to go to the gym more often, but thanks Keith!
Worth the switch from Bankers Hall Club (for me). Read further if you are considering switching yourself.
My conclusion is world gym is 25% worse than bankers, but 66% cheaper therefore it is worth the move for me…. BUT if you like to do classes then you might as well stay at Bankers because the membership with classes and towel service at World is only 20% cheaper ($20 a week + $5 towel service) and it’s is just not as good of a gym. I’m on the most basic membership for $5 a week but I added the towel service for an additional $5 a week.
World Gym: • NO TEMP ADJUST ON SHOWERS. It’s like the old school gym locker room push button shower with no temp control. This is the worst part of the gym I would say. It’s also on kind of a lukewarm setting right now. • Only plain old soap is available in locker room sinks and showers, no other products • Equipment is all brand new, but it’s a bit cheaper quality than Bankers • More equipment selection and tons of cardio equipment • Water fountain is at far end of gym near change rooms instead of central • No small towels for out on the gym floor • If you get higher tier memberships you get free tanning and hydro massage. Tanning part is really strange to me, how is this healthy? • Not at all busy during lunch, but maybe just because it is new? • Music is pretty loud and aggressive, sometimes it’s hard to drown out with my headphones depending where I am in the gym. • Sauna instead of steam room • No laundry service • No squash
Overall I can get pretty much the same workouts in at World Gym as I can at Bankers Hall club, so the significantly cheaper price makes it totally worth it.
Updating my review after dealing with one of the managers. She was extremely accommodating and helped make my experience at world gym great. Thanks Morgan!
Recently transferred to this gym and man all I can say is it is outstanding, from the new equipment to the really friendly and personable front desk staff that will always make you feel welcome. Unreal pricing with all the amenities that you get. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that lives/works in the downtown area
One of the best gyms I have been at in a long time! Great location for anyone who’s working in the downtown Calgary area. I love the layout of the gym the people working here are always super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend for anyone who is looking to switch gyms in the downtown area.
I've been signed up for about 3 weeks now and I really like the gym. The equipment is new, everything is very clean and the staff are really friendly. I'd definitely recommend.
I really like this gym so far. I would really love if this gym was also open on Sundays, and even a bit earlier on Saturdays. Maybe this could happen as time goes on as the gym is still new.
Poorly ran. Tried to contact the manager via email she didn’t reply. They have a kleptomaniac as an employee. Great amenities I will admit but POOR service and choice of employee along with customer service. DONT GO HERE! Also, the employees sit on dating sites all day to hook up with members. Such a disgrace. Most unprofessional places I’ve ever been to
This is a great facility - I signed up here instead of GoodLife because they have an awesome weight lifting area and their equipment is top notch. Took one their Foundations classes this morning the athletics coach (certified) was approachable, encouraging and helpful, and she provided an excellent introduction into proper form for weightlifting. Membership prices are competitive and affordable.
