Zenbu

Asked for extra Wasabi, curious to know how much I would have got if I did not ask for extra. Also just 3x5ml Soy sauce for 16 pieces? You can do better!

We love Zenbu! From take out to eating in with the family, we love the food, we love the staff and it always keeps us coming back!

The staff was friendly and very attentive, and it wasn't busy mind you. The sashimi was fantastic (the most important part), the takoyaki was good, but I would recommend staying away from anything with rice in it as it was sour/stale and the price of a bottle of beer would make you want to faint. Well honestly everything was rather meeeh for the prices and we didn't try any rolls since they where all very white washed (potato chips and crab sticks in everything). This is the second place we have tried in town and won't be coming back It's worth it to drive back into Calgary then to be disappointed by over priced beer and meeh food.

Great staff. Friendly. Food arrived quickly and it was hot. Three of us are for $75 including tip. I recommend this place.

I've ordered from Zenbu for delivery a few times through their website.

Its a mostly painless process, the let you know up front that delivery takes about 45 minutes unless its during their busy time (Friday to Sunday from 4-7)

They have a nice selection to choose from, the variety is good and its nice they have some Korean dishes too!

Delivery comes fairly fast and everything that should be hot is.

Food is nicely packaged, the portions are what you would expect when ordering sushi.

My last experience was really poor which is why I bumped the rating down by two stars.

I ordered at 4: 00 on a Tuesday for a delivery window between 5 and 5: 30.5: 30 comes around and no delivery has arrived, I figured I would wait and maybe they were busy - I've never had any issues before.

5: 45 arrives and I call them to ask about my order status, the lady I spoke to was very nice and let me know that the driver left "awhile ago" and it should arrive soon.

6: 00 I go for a short walk, figuring its been over a half an hour after my delivery window maybe it was misdelivered to one of my neighbors? I didn't find anything and my neighbors say that haven't seen anything - I returned home with no food and nothing was waiting for me when I got back.

At 6: 20 I'm confused, Zenbu is close it should have arrived long by now so I call back. Same person answered the phone and they seem confused - the driver has already returned and picked up more orders it should have been delivered. She offered to call the driver and get back to me.

6: 30 ish Zenbu calls me back - the driver is claiming that he delivered my order. I point out I haven't received it which is why I was calling, none of my neighbors had gotten it delivered to them by accident. She says the driver is really close to me she will get the driver to come back and show me where it is as it was delivered. She asks me to wait outside for the driver.

I wait outside and 6: 50 rolls around. The driver FINALLY shows up - his first words out of his car? Is to complain that I called the restaurant and asking what was going on, complains about traffic and "trains", I needed to be more patient, and *I* was being very unreasonable.

This is almost and hour and a half AFTER the latest time my order was supposed to be delivered.

The driver hands me my order from the back seat of his car and leaves, no apology or acknowledgement of the situation.

I don't know if the driver forgot my order, wanted to eat it himself or something else happened.

I wish I had called and complained but at that point I was too hungry to keep waiting and it was such a poor experience I basically gave up.

The food I got was cold, soggy and just really disappointing - most of it ended up in the garbage because it had obviously sat out for a long time and I didn't want to risk eating raw fish or super soggy tempura.

I'm going to stick to dine in or pick up

Love the sushi here, and that it isn't too far from my neighborhood. It looks so nice inside and they are so nice. I enjoy the tempura and vegetable based rolls especially

Very attentive staff, helped us choose some rolls. Delicious, fresh, and correct temperatures, the food came out quickly once we ordered. Clean restaurant, we liked the music too!
We ordered 3 rolls, 3 pieces nigiri, crab stick tempura and some edemame for 2 hungry people and were well satisfied. My favorite was the spicy salmon with potato crisp (first plate on the left of the photo).

One of my favorite sushi places! Always fast and friendly service. The quality of the food is amazing too!

The nigiri is always fresh and the rolls have incredible flavor. Often travel from Calgary to come here!

I took my niece to eat there tonight and I’ve never had more rude customer service from the wait staff. I’ve been to so many amazing restaurants worldwide and this - unreal. Food was good, service terrible. I was not ready to leave and had only sat down for 30 minutes when they brought the machine to my table to pay. It’s just beyond rude. We had two plates to finish. I never asked for the bill. It’s clear you wanted us to leave. I’ll never forget this treatment and never eat there again.

We had four dishes of sushi and they were all very well made and delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. I’d highly recommend Zenbu.

The restaurant itself is very clean and the food is fast but it was all ruined by the sick staff. It was all coughing, blowing nose and snorting back mucus/phlegm. He wasn't even wearing a mask. If the staff is sick please close for the day or send them home. This should be common sense by now. I completely lost my appetite and will never go back.

Just wanted to do a BIG shout out to ZENBU sushi restaurant! My boyfriend and I went there the other weekend while we were in town and they were SO GOOD. Lots of the menu can be made gluten free. You HAVE to state what you want made gluten free so that they know to make the right modifications. They even have gf soy sauce. I would definitely call this place celiac safe as they were very careful. Some of the BEST Sushi I've ever had! We will definitely be going back and I recommend you try it out. My favorite restaurant in Airdie by far!

Zenbu definitely has amazing food and service! The food was superb, fantastic sushi/sashimi as well as their rice dishes. But the staff were absolutely excellent and made the experience that much better!
10/10 would recommend to try!

On vacation in Alberta and was going to go to Original Joes for supper but they didn’t allow minors so we took a chance on Zenbu next door. Delicious! Super fast service (he stood near our table and cleared immediately). Will come back here for the Sushi Pizza

Awesome sushi and excellent service. Decor was well done. Special Sushi Rolls portions are huge! We ordered dragon rolls, unagi rolls, and California rolls. Each plate comes with pink ginger and whipped wasabi.

Nigiri was a bit pricey per piece, but extremely good. We ordered two shake, six toro, and two unagi.

We also had small hot sake. Perfect to split between two people over a meal.

Green tea was good.

We'll definitely go again.

Our favorite fresh sushi place in Airdrie. Taste great every time! Food is good dining in and take out.

Discovered this place fairly recently and it is our new sushi place. I believe the owner is the chef too. His food looks like art, but tastes like heaven. PS: the Deep Fried Tiger roll is my favourite.

Usually it's hard to find good sushi in Airdrie. We must of hit a gem. Sushi here was excellent, decent prices all around. The atmosphere and vibe of this place feels good, kid friendly, and pleasing.

First, the sushi roll, good quality rice that was used. Warm, big rice kernel, good bounce and not at all soggy. The filling to rice ratio was perfect, probably one of the best I've tasted in a long time. The salmon sashimi was a thicker cut, melts in your mouth, worth the money and cheaper per slice than most places. The udon, kids favorite, full of flavour. The broth, good balance of dashi, strong flavour of seafood.

I thought I heard the owners were speaking Japanese but my wife pointed out they are Korean. She knows this because of all the Korean drama she's been watching.lol.

Overall, very good sushi and excellent service!

Our tempura was amazing and my dynamite rolls. However our chicken teriyaki and beef was flavorless and was more quantity then quality it was 90% rice and shredded cabbage very disappointed. The chicken was chewy and dry the beef want as bad. Definitely would not order again.

Delicious food, fast and friendly service, reasonable pricing. This is the first place we've found in Airdrie with decent sushi. We'll definitely go back!

We called earlier in the day and they said they were open until 7: 30pm. We called at 7: 12pm for
Takeout and were told they are not taking anymore orders as they had enough today.

We've been craving sushi but haven't been able to frequent our usual AYCE sushi restaurant since lockdown started. We decided to get takeout from Zenbu after reading their positive reviews and were not disappointed. All of the sushi was delicious, everything was made with care and presented beautifully. The staff were extremely friendly when I came to pick up my order and even helped me carry it out.
I have nothing but positive things to say about Zenbu!

Unfortunately I was craving sushi when you guys were closed and made the mistake to order from Mio.well I think enough said there, I will never again order from anyone other than Zenbu!

Very very good food, and wrongful varieties of dishes. Also noteworthy is great value for your money, and fast service. A real treat. Must visit.

I love this place so much The food is so good and fresh and the staff are really nice but they're quick which I like. One time they accidentally messed up my order and they were so nice about it and prompt with correcting that I really appreciate the customer service here and the yummy fresh fish that you put in to the sushi.

Ordered sushi on their website. Said to pick up 30 mins after ordering. Showed up and the places is closed. Called them and the answering machine says they are open as well.

My fave sushi restaurant in Airdrie! I order here at least once a week and must have the creamy scallop roll! They also make an amazing spicy sauce (the best spicy salmon roll). The staff is friendly and accommodating. I can’t wait for covid to be a thing of the past so we can dine in again!

This restaurant is our Japanese “go -to” for airdrie takeout. They offer 10% off takeout orders and it saves us money and I believe the restaurant is better off as well. There are always easy to communicate with over the phone for orders. The food is beautifully plated and they actually give you enough ginger (for the ginger lover here). I love the consistency of their food and appreciate some of the uniqueness that goes into the dishes. Thanks, Zenbu for staying by our side during these tough times!

The food is always great but its impossible to get through on the phones, the line is busy or they hang up on you! We used to love ordering from here but refuse to even try anymore.

Been going to this place for a while, probably been over 20 times & never had a bad experience. Strongly recommend!

Hepatitis last year, kitchen sewer backflow in summer, her daughter is studying in asia, is this place food safe?

There were a number of menu options. Since the restaurant was named after its stone grill, we decided to give it a try. The stone grill was definitely a neat way to cook food, although I have yet to figure out how the stone is kept hot enough for the duration of time that we had been cooking.

Real tasty foods, good service and was open on new years eve. I went with my mom and Grandpa and we all found something tasty! Great variety.

We decided to visit Zenbu after shopping around Cross Iron Mills, since it wasn't too far of a drive. The restaurant wasn't all too busy around lunch time so we were seated quickly and orders came quickly as well. Our server was great and personable, very refreshing! The decor ambiance of the restaurant is not too bad and the dining area was clean. We ordered 2 orders of takoyaki, dynamite roll, spicy tuna roll, California roll, and their Dragon roll. All the rolls and appetizers we ordered were good, but nothing special. They also have Korean food in their menu (ie. Bibimbap, Korean ramen, etc.), but we opted to just try out their sushi. I think it's a decent place to get sushi in Airdrie if you live there, but I'm not too sure I would visit all the way from Calgary to eat there again.

We’ve loved coming to Zenbu for years, but today we had such a great experience there with our toddler. The staff was so accommodating and went above and beyond playing peek a boo and making her laugh from across the restaurant. Their sushi is superb, and so is their service!

If you have eaten at Zenbu between June 15-29 You May have been exposed to Hepatitis A.

As this is the second such exposure in Airdrie in a short time. A person could choose to get immunization within the first 14 days after exposure. I asked the 811 nurse how this gets spread and why it takes so long to get the word out?

She said that it is basically from a food preparer NOT washing their hands and preparing food. It’s “Oral fecal exposure” She said it’s often innocent ignorance!?

How are kitchen staff and food preparers NOT AWARE that they need to wash hands prior to making people’s food?
Those signs in the bathroom are not to remind customers to wash!

I ate there on the 21st & will be requesting a blood test ASAP?

Otherwise I’d be driving myself crazy watching symptoms for the next fifty days.

Update: My review, first of all about your customer service, it’s very poor, you need to train your employees be more professional and friendly, and second I didn’t like quality of your food, and after all of it, now I might get Hepatitis A. It’s awful!

Just passing through Airdrie, had to stop for gas and decided to stop for a bite to eat, probably the best sushi we've ever had and awesome portion sizes!
(Yam rolls, vegetable rolls, avacado maki, tofu teriyaki)
We live about 1.5hrs away but this will definitely be a stopping place on our way through!

Really cozy atmosphere. The food is delicious. Loved it the tiger roll. They have an all you can eat buffets Wednesday’s from 5 to 8 pm

Excellent dining experience! Zenbu isn't much to look at from the outside but don't let that fool you. Inside decor was classy but not overdone. We dined there on a Saturday, but early, and it was nearly empty at first, but picked up as we ate with lots phoning in reservations. Authentic Japanese food with excellent service. They also boast a nice selection of wines, both Japanese and European. We had the seared tuna appetizer, and I had the beef teriyaki, which comes with soup and rice. You probably can request a knife and fork, but I liked it that they had chopsticks laid out and didn't assume because we weren't Japanese that we couldn't manage, and I liked that. Hot tea is amazing but avoid the iced tea as it vomes in a can. Prices very reasonable. A must go-to if you're in town.

By far the best sushi place in Airdrie. Top quality sushi with amazing plates and sides as well. The miso soup and edamame are must have sides with green tea as well. There is not a better Japanese experience anywhere near Airdrie.

Excellent sushi and miso. Went out on a limb and tried a new appy; crazy wasabi prawns. Took one bite and it felt like drinking a spoon of oil. Broke it apart to see the prawn was tiny and not anymore edible. Will still go again for the rest but that is one dish to steer clear of.

This is my go to place for a romantic and relaxing evening with my loved one and family. Service is always accurate and friendly and I am always pleased with my food, especially when I realise how modestly priced it is for food that seems such a delicacy around Airdrie. Miso soup is the best in town 100%

First time there with family.
The price is great I order 2 tempura dishes, 2 dishes of rolls, 1 dish special roll and chicken teriyaki all for $66 now that is a really good price for three people.
The food is so good, well worth the price I paid.
They have all you can eat rolls and maki, on Wednesday for 23.95. I am definitely going back for sure and eating all you can eat.
Restaurant is clean, service is good, and place is busy.

Went there at 8: 38pm and was told that the kitchen was already closed. They didn't serve even when I said that I'd just have it to go if they were closing soon.

Loved our rolls we chose, including one our server suggested wasn't popular. Surprised by the Kiwi Kiwi choice. Great California rolls.

They loose a star for booting us out 32 mins prior to close time. We were the last table of the night celebrating a birthday - They turned off the lights and the music and didn't bother talking to us about needing to close early, etc. Very rude way to handle that.
