A Taste Of France

First time here, was quite surprised that we would find great pastries at a random place for us. We were on a drive, as our original destination closed for the day, and found this gem of Transcona. Highly recommended. The employee was also pleasant to talk to.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Truly a taste of France! Absolutely everything is amazing here. I want to buy everything Every time I'm in there and I don't even have a photo because we can never wait to get home to take one!

I just moved into the area. This place is a block down my street! I love the baked goods which are savoury and fresh! My grandsons loved the baguettes. I loved the quiche and cruffins, yum The coffee is a total bonus, just my style if you like it medium to strong flavours It’s my new “go to” place now…you won’t be disappointed

Such an excellent little bakery in transcona.love that it is close to home and they have a nice variety of fancy desserts as well as sandwiches and breads.today was my second visit and i’m still super impressed.will definitely be making this a regular place to stop in for a treat.their ham and swiss sandwiches are to die for and the 2 employees i’ve interacted with were both wonderful.

Went there Saturday and it was the highlight of my week! The place was open and clean, and there was a surprising variety of sweet and savoury treats and beautiful breads. Everything looked fresh and it had a very welcoming atmosphere.

We are lucky to get a spot at a table outside as it was very busy!

I tried an onion quiche and the eclair they had on special - my girlfriend had an almond croissant. You would have to (and should!) try for yourself as I can't accurately explain how great it all was but the difference with the food here was that each item felt like someone spent all day making that and only that. Not too sweet, extremely well balanced in terms of flavour and texture and easy on the eyes as well.

There is clearly a lot of pride in this establishment and a lot of love in the food! 10/10

What I like about this bakery is that the pastries are neither salty nor sweet, you can feel the taste of the product itself.everything is very beautiful and tasty

So far I've enjoyed everything I've tried at A Taste of France. The stand outs for me are the pistachio cruffin, the golden snickers bar, the lemon meringue croissant, and the mixed berry + pistachio eclaire. Well worth the money.

If you're looking for bread, the sourdough is quite good. Soft and flavorful. It has a nice even crumb and does not give in to the trend of having giant holes leaving each slice look like a piece of Swiss cheese.

Usually go to La Belle Baguette for almond croissants but the one here is super delish and a much more closer option for me! New owners are doing great!

This bakery is the best in the city, we tried the bread, croissants and a variety of sweets! Manny is an incredible baker and brings the tastes of France to Winnipeg!

We were very excited to try our this bakery from the other side of the city as our favourite bakery S squared patisserie closed down last year. As half of the website is in French and some digging here and there in reviews we were all very hopeful about their product quality.
The staff was really friendly and they offer great selections, prices are pretty decent as well. However half of the products are too sweet for us. We bought:
Paris Brest - sweet but the nutty flavor saves it
Mixed Berry/Cherry Choco croissant - ok as Im not the one tasting it
Lemon Meringue croissant - we all agreed that this is a pretty weird combo, the sour lemon paste/cream and overly sweet meringue dont pair really well with croissant
Mixed berry and Pistachio eclairs - the pistachio cream both inside and on top are just too sweet even when you take the bite with the sour berries on top
Pistachio Cruffins - never tried cruffins before and while I appreciate the concept, again, the sweetness of the pistachio cream ruined it
Plain Croissant - the true bakery test but no it was quite dissapointing. The layers are there but its just too dry and not buttery enough to our expectation.
Mille Feuille - actually quite nice but again, too sweet.
Would like to try out their bread but we probably wont be coming back again as it does not worth the far drive.
Overall its a nice little bakery for family within the area, just not for us.d.

Great bakery! Lots of different things to choose from. Often sells out of popular items fast, so ya gotta go early.

Cinnamon rolls are fantastic, but it would be nice to have some with a cream cheese icing.

I’ve been a fan of Sweet C since the original owner opened up shop, but the new owner has absolutely taken it to the next level! I’m from out of town, but when we are in the city, we’re sure to make a stop. The croissants and “cruffins” are amazing (I love the lemon meringue croissant). Last night we tried the apple strudel and I’m already planning out when we can get another one! This place is bad for my waistline and my wallet:)

Love this place! Lived in Transcona for so many years and finally checked out first time last week.highly recommended! The bread is fantastic (reminds me of European bread taste, perfect if you're homesick lol), the pastry is delicious My new Shop Local gem.
