For me, I found the place too noisy and busy. The tables were small. It was difficult managing the game and drinks.
It smelled strongly of “people”.

The service was awesome! They were helpful and kind.
The selection of board games was amazing!

Whether it’s with friends, a date, or family. This is always an amazing location to have fun with friends!

Delightfully pleasing both for the food and the friendly service. I'll try to make this a game night with my friends.

For my birthday, I went to Across the Board Café with a couple friends. I enjoyed the food, drinks and the games. The only issues were the prices of the food/drink and the level of service. The waiter was quite nice, but he didn't come by the table too often. We had to call him over a few times, which sometimes it was difficult to get his attention. But overall good experience.

The food was alright. They had trouble getting it all out at the same time for our group of ten. There is a good selection of gluten free options. The game selection was excellent including multiples of classic games and someone on staff helping out with recommendations.

We nt as a group of 8. If you love games, this is the place to go. Liquor and food service available. Very helpful staff. Will go back next time in Winnipeg.

Value: A little pricey. I understand the need for a cover charge with this business model; I just feel there should be spending threshold.

Went in today with my co-workers. The ambience and the atmosphere was great. The game master was patient and well versed with the games. The staff was very polite and welcoming as well. Would definitely come again!

Went for lunch with my daughter. Waited 45 minutes for a simple wrap. The staff in the kitchen had long unkempt hair hanging down in front. Long enough to get in the food and topped it off with a winter torque. I thought you had to at least have your hair back when you work in a kitchen. We left without getting our meal. We were so disapointef

I would've spent my entire day here if I could! The concept of the restaurant is GENIUS, I love the competitive and bonding nature of playing board games and the experience was nothing less than memorable, with more than 1600 games, its impossible not to find something you like. The food was great too, I had a chicken wrap with potato wedges. The Wrap was delicious, it didn't feel dry at all, it was packed, plus it didn't fall out. The potato wedges were a little bland, but the HONEY DILL stole the show and made me forget about the wedges entirely. I had a drink called the Shirley Temple and I couldn't finish it any faster! I would definitely recommend investing!

Me and my friends had an AMAZING experience here! Staff was friendly and helpful. We played so many games and had a lot of fun. I’d give the food 4 stars and the experience, ambiance 5 stars.

Great overall experience. Chantelle was an impeccable server keeping the service operational. A plentiful selection of board games. I played the Mars colony economy-based board game for the first time with friends and played a live chess game with new people during the second visit. Fun memories and delivered Qg4# (checkmate). I ordered the Board Game Club sandwich that came with the tomato soup. It was delicious. A vibrant and friendly environment with laughter during the Trivia Night events. Great place for families to hang out.

The staff were amazing. They kept checking in on us, they reccomend food and games, they were over all very sweet and helpful throughout. Finding parking around the location was a bit difficult, and they required a reservation on the weekend, which is understandable but did damper the experience. If we return we will make sure to update the review at that time.

It is a really nice place to hang out. You wont get bored. Definitely a place where group of people can enjoy each other's company by playing games. The service is really good too.

Awesome place to visit with friends. $10 per person and you can play any game you could think of. They have an expert 'Michael' that will teach you how to play a game if you want. Open a bit later than some coffee shops! Good drinks!

Got a table for 10 (max COVID table size) right at opening. Food was delicious. Staff were friendly, communicative and attentive. Ambiance was perfect. I appreciated the sound-absorbing panels. And they have games for days - weeks! Will visit there again for sure.

Went recently with some friends and I have to say this place is awesome. We aren't avid board gamers or anything BUT still had a blast. I usually go here and play a couple games before purchasing at home.

This was such a great place. Hundreds of games can be played - but we just went for brunch. The staff was so gracious with us and our grandchildren. The food was great. Soup, salads, grilled cheese for the kids. Nice clean tables and good separation. Well go back for sure.

Parking is a risky business. It's easier to bus if you can. The only downside to this place is if you order gluten free (the food quality tastes great, but it costs $3 to have two slices of bread. Very expensive). Otherwise this place is great! Lots of games and good customer service

Forgot to bring our group 2 of the 4 milkshakes we ordered.
Asked for a burger with no mushrooms on it.
Burger came loaded with mushrooms under the cheese that had to be dug out.
We asked for the milkshakes that were missed and did finally get them.
Service was okay at best.

For the price you pay for the experience I would expect to have your order brought out as it was requested.

This was my second time going and we specifically went to play games because the last time was so much fun. The game expert was able to recommend games that we enjoyed and give us a quick rundown on how to play. This time around we didn't have the same rundown but still fun. Just hard to pick up a game and learn to play it on the fly.

Upgraded to five stars because I'm so pleased with their COVID precautions to keep guests and staff safe. There's a hell of a lot of places that have ended up on my boycott list because of how they've dealt with his pandemic, but I'm very glad I can keep patronizing Across the Board.

Good food (kind pricy but good quality), tons of games to pick from. The game masters are great at helping you find games you'll like based on your preferences and teaching you how to play new ones.

It gets really crowded and loud.

I was looking for a certain game that no other game store in the city had. Across the board came in clutch and I received not only the game I wanted, but the best customer service experience I've ever had. I will definitely be coming back. We were fortunate to enjoy a family dinner with our adult children in the summer of 2020. Fantastic food, fantastic staff and a wonderful place to meet and enjoy an evening together. We hope to return to Winnipeg to see them again.

One of the most unique places in the city when it comes to enviornment.
Located in the heart of downtown with large clear glass windows where you can see cars going by while surrounded by tons & tons of various different board games that you can try. This place is a endless stream of fun & games along with snack food you can also purchase while playing.

Just placed an order for curb-side pick-up. The order was ready quickly, everything was communicated clearly, and along with the boardgame I had ordered, they had thrown in thank you note AND a free cardgame. We will certainly be enjoying both, and appreciate their efforts to continue offering a wonderful service for Winnipeg game-lovers:)

The staff there are very hospitable and love sharing what their favorite games are and making your experience as smooth and fun as possible.

Awesome place to hang out with friends and try out new board games. Food is a little on the pricier side, and nothing great, so I'd try to come here with a full stomach if I were you.

I’ve been here several times and I always love it! Lots of board games, and the staff are super helpful and can teach you to play games you’re unfamiliar with. They also have great food and drinks. They even have a small section where you can buy games to take home! Definitely going to be coming back here lots

Great concept, and usually a great time. Drink service could be way more attentive based on multiple visits, and food quality is alright at best. Would like to see a better chef come in for better appetizers and finger food. Game experts are always helpful and have great suggestions. Good for group outings!

Great menu and selection of board games, the servers and barista did everything to please us, it was really a good time.

Must come with a reservation or be forced to sit at the bar near the coat rack. There are alot.of games, the vibe is high energy and fun and there is food. Good concept for a night out with friends or family

Really fun experience. Went for the family D & D event. $15 a piece got you drinks, popcorn, nachos and salsa and veggies with dip along with a dungeon master to take you on your adventure for 3 hours. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who knows how to play D & D or not.

Really great selection of games. Most we chose were pretty tattered though which is to be expected with the general public I suppose. Food is okay, but service was good. Pretty basic atmosphere and you'll see all kinds of people, young and old, date night, group of friends etc. I go out early, like 6pm so it's never super packed.

Their vegetarian menu isnt great. They were willing to make a few substitutions but with the shortened lunch menu we weren't left with too many options. Vegan options were lacking compared to the dinner menu

Great place - the food is fantastic (was there for lunch 2 days) 1st day had the beef dip and the 2nd day had the burger. If I would have stayed longer in Winnipeg this would have been my daily go to for lunch!

This place is amazing! I love how many options there are for every group size! There are classics (like Catan and Cards Against Humanity) and some more niche ones (like the Firefly TV show boardgame). The staff is always ready to recommend some new ones, and with hundreds of choices, there is something for everyone. They even have braille versions of some card games like Love Letter.

A unique dining experience with tasty dishes to boot. The variety of games to play take you back to your childhood or if to the future. A fun night out.

Took an hour and a half to get a perogy poutine with ‘no onions’ it Came. Came out with onions. And waitress said “they put it on there anyways. Is that okay” well kitchen is closing so I guess so. No apology. Nothing. First. And definitely the last time here.

I bought an extension of Catan over Christmas and realize the person I bought it for already had it. I realized I had misplaced the receipt. I called and the guy (who is very nice, whoever that nice guy is who always picks up the phone) told me it was no problem, of course I could return it, he remembered me buying this game a week ago. So I took it in. This woman who was very UN-nice told me I needed a receipt. I told her what I just told you; I explained that I had called in advance to make sure I could return the game without a receipt; I could show her my VISA bill; the game was still in the original packaging; she could just look it up on her computer. She just kept repeating in irritation, "You need your recipt. " I finally said, "so are you not going to return the game? " She didn't answer; she did return the money. And said, "Next time, you need a receipt. " At this point I lost it. "Look, why would there be a next time? I was clearly aware of the circumstances. I lost my receipt. 'Losing' implies that I didn't mean to lose it. In fact, I scoured the house for over an hour. Why are you being this way? " This experience made me never want to go back there. Instead of buying their Gloomhaven (and three other new games I recently bought), I used Amazon.

Two stars, because of that really nice guy! That's the nicest guy in the world. Just make sure you talk to that super nice guy.

The food was fantastic, and they have some great vegan options (please add a vegan dessert besides sorbet for the colder months). All staff was pleasant, helpful and enthusiastic. We loved the game selection and the help with the rules. Will definitely be back!

I love their perogy poutine, it was a pleasant surprise to see it was little perogies with cheese and gravy.

Across the Board has a huge selection of games to satisfy all interests and skill levels. They serve good food and offer a wide selection of snacks, sharable plates, mains and desserts to suit all hunger levels. Lots of vegetarian options! The staff here are helpful and friendly staff. They will suggest games and explain how to play them. They also offer a selection of games for purchase. The space itself is bright, airy and open. Great for families, friends and as a date night.

The food and experience were great but we were not aware of the gaming fee. We were shocked when we got our bill and we were charged $6 each. I understand if it was an insurance for the board games though I just wish it was posted somewhere in the café or on the website. But overall, great experience.

Food was great and super cheap. More games then you could ever imagine playing. Service wasn't spectacular, although the man going round teaching games was very personable.

Make reservations a head of time. Food is yummy, staff knowledgeable on games and food. Gender neutral bathroom with individually locking stalls is great. The events and tournaments are a blast. Parking is not impossible considering the location and the price is reasonable for all you get. Toyko Bowl was fantastic imo. The carrot cake, was more like a walnut cake; good but not the carrot cake I was expecting.

A great, lively environment! The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the selection of games are the biggest I've ever seen, and the food is fantastic for the price! It can be a little hard to find parking though.

My experience was very enjoyable. Fast service. Great tasting food. Very large expansion of games. Like that you have the ability to purchase some of the same board games on site. The design was very simple and modern.

This is seriously one of the best places we went to when visiting Winnipeg. The staff were very very friendly and helpful: even suggesting games that better fit what we were looking for. It is a super casual atmosphere and the food is amazingly delicious. Great selection of games that is well organized so you can find something to play.

Positive points: The pkace is super nice, all employees are very nice, good coffee.

Negative points: The bin of the paper towels in the bathroom was breaded, I tried two different beers and it looked like they had been served since 3 days ago, horrible beer in this place

The food is generally pretty tasty and there is a large selection of games. The only complaint I have is that they often seem short staffed. You should be ready to learn short games on your own or play a favourite while you wait for assistance. You may have to wait a while for refills/orders as well. Still - this is a great place to snack and test out some new games.

Really, really cool idea for a cafe. It's nice to hangout with friends, and the food is really good. They have a wide variety of games and everyone is very friendly.

Food was average. Food menu options are limited. 6 bucks a person for playing games seemed a bit expensive for lunch crowd. But maybe there are others who go there primarily for the games and love their games selection.
