Amai Sushi

It was very tasty over all but found the donut dry could use sauce. Found the sushi pizza dry as well could use some sauce and less whatever that orange crunchy thing is on top. The calamari roll was my favorite.

Ordered kids bento box, got an adult box instead. Ordered croquette, didn't get them. Ensure your order is right

This place is a wonderful addition to Transcona! The food here is absolutely incredible. If you haven't been, you definitely have too! Soooo good!

We are extremely strict about where and what we're eating. But the place is so beautiful, clean and has great atmosphere. Music was played. Food was so delicious. Portions are on big size compared to other places. So far is the best place to eat vegan options for us. The only thing I would recommend owner is educate the waiters about what vegan means but even the order was taking great and the services was amazing. Highly recommend

We love sushi and Amai Sushi is delicious! I recommend the takoyaki and high ball. Everything we ordered was at or above expectation. This is not your bland grocery store sushi! The salmon was so tasty!

We like to come with a group, order a lot and everyone gets a taste of each dish. This shop is small and cozy. There were several delivery pick ups the second time we were there, so look them up on Skip-the-dishes if you want to order in instead of sit down. We'll definitely be repeat customers.

Nice cozy ambience with very friendly staff, its our first time trying out Amai Sushi so the focus of this meal was to determine if this sushi place is worth a second visit and that is by judging the quality of the sushi rice and fish. So we went ahead and ordered out staples: first off the miso soup was good which is always a good indicator of what to expect in a sushi place IMO, the tea was just ok but Im picky with my genmaicha so….

As for the nigiris, rice to fish ratio was on point, fatty tuna and fatty salmon are superb and a must try! Red snapper was good, unagi was just ok (too sweet) aburi salmon is very good as well. I don’t recommend the Salmon Fire Donut, I would rather opt to go for the Aburi Salmon instead.

The Tempura was good, light and crispy with good tempura sauce. Takoyaki was ok, a bit tiny with a nugget of octopus. Yakisoba was ok, lacking that smoky taste I was craving for. Overall Amai Sushi is a welcomed addition to the sushi scene in Winnipeg and definitely warrants a must try and a second visit (to try some of the rolls and donburis) fish quality is definitely good, the only thing holding me back to give it 5 stars is that I feel it is a bit too expensive.

Very good food quality and the workers were great. Will go there again and again. The only thing is that it is a bit pricy compared to other sushi restaurants. Also the restaurant is very clean and modern looking!

Absolutely delicious rolls, ordered take out and everything was well presented and the food was wrapped in tinfoil to keep warm which is appreciated!

We really appreciated their willingness to accommodate my picky kids’ food preferences in their sushi menu. They even came back to us several times to confirm little details and my kids were able to enjoy their first sushi restaurant dining experience:)

Excellent sushi, especially the rolls. A welcome addition to the East Village (formerly Transcona). Cozy, no fuss atmosphere. Owners and staff are extremely kind and friendly.

The beef bulgogi take out was so good. Fresh, crunchy vegs, peppery taste and large portion. Great rice on side. Neat packaging. No leaks or drips.

California roll & smoked salmon roll which were both great! The salmon has a strong smoked taste which might be a bit to strong for some but I really enjoyed it. Also had gyoza which were delicious and very crispy! Will be back

We were quite excited to go here because it’s a new sushi place, close to us, and we heard good things about this place. We went when it wasn’t that busy, but stood at the entrance waiting to be served for a few minutes. It wasn’t that long, but it was slightly annoying that they saw us but didn’t take us to a table right away.

When we finally got our menu, we waited about 20 minutes (we counted because we were waiting for so long) and nobody still took our order. Another group came in and sat near us so one of us said that if the server comes to give them menus and doesn’t take our order, we’ll leave. Sadly, we left. It’s ridiculous that it took that long for our order to be taken especially when it wasn’t even busy. It’s fine if food takes long, but taking our orders? I understand they’re new, but the lack of attentiveness and care for waiting customers is disappointing. We were especially excited because we heard good things about this place. I guess we’ll stick with our regulars.

Food was amazing and super fresh. The restaurant interior is chill with comfortable chairs and friendly staff!
