Asoyama Sushi

It was okay sushi, a bit more expensive than other sushi places by maybe $2 more a roll or so. I would recommend the Atlantic roll, I ordered the spinach roll but the Gomaae sauce was already inside instead of on the side which I was not a huge fan of.

Nice atmosphere. Price is ok, servers are friendly and courteous. I loved the takoyaki and bento platters

I was given a nice spot, and was ready to buy three rolls, I was served water and was ghosted after that! Nobody ever came back for 15 minutes! Can't believe flying in from Arizona to this fine Country, and receives nothing from this place, which should of accounted for neg stars due to the travel!

We have ordered their party trays through skip many times which is always amazing. We have constantly supported this restaurant even through the pandemic. For once we decided to dine in for a change as my 4 year old daughter was asking for sushi. She was keeping herself entertained and was then told by the server not to make any noises, as playing with chopsticks was too noisy for the restaurant; however there was no one even around us or sitting near us. She felt humiliated and we were made to feel uncomfortable. We didn’t feel welcomed with our kids. We decided to leave but not before we told him that you can’t tell a toddler not do stuff like that. He apologized but still never dining here again. Worst feeling ever

The private rooms are really great at this sushi location- a really fun and unique experience. However, the food itself is lacking a bit. The ramen is not good - 2/5, soup is watery and lacks flavor, also the egg was hard boiled. The bento box and sushi were pretty good but was nothing amazing 4/5.

Very poor quality fish and mounds of spicy mayo used most likely to disguise the quality of the fish used. Presentation was lacking.

We ordered $80 worth of sushi which was brought to us way to quickly.made us think if it was premade. When we tasted it it didnt taste fresh. Quality does not reflect the price. I wouldn't recommend it.

Food was fair but service was abysmal. The girl who was our server took forever to take our order, never checked in on us, didn’t come to refill our waters, and didn’t bring part of our order (the restaurant was not busy at all). The other server was running around, checking in on his customers and was much more efficient. Our experience with this server has really tainted us from going back.

The worst sushi I have ever had. I ordered lots of different rolls and sashimi and nothing was good and the tuna was definitely rotten! Won’t order from there again.

Love the atmosphere went here on a date and the pee made course meal was amazing it all came out at the right times and was enough food for two people! The service was amazing and so were the prices!

Average prices, large menu. Tuna tasted overly fishy… yam and tempura roll were alright. Average at best. The tempura was soft and chewy on top of the roll. Not crunchy like it should be. Same with the yam tempura inside the roll. Would not return.

The waitress is awful and rude. When I ate ramen with my friend at 1 pm on 05/05/2022, she came to collect dishes several times. We haven’t finished our meal, why did you want us to go? We noticed that the girl didn’t go to other tables to do same thing. Because we have Asian face? God. Bad experience. Never go there.

Came here with my husband for a dinner, the environment is good, the food is also good, delicious. It's worth a try, but unfortunately there are no oysters that day, I want to try it later

Me and my bf come here every week for the oysters and sashimi. This is the #1 sushi go to for us as the staff are so kind and the food makes us comeback for more

Absolutely LOVE this place. Such friendly staff. Their yakisoba is so delicious and they are always so fast and efficient at getting orders done.

The bento boxes are great value! Fresh fish, pretty decent quality, but definitely pretty pricey and not necessarily the best value. Still, very solid sushi!

Bad service our whole family walks in wearing face shields the same ones swimming instructors wear at pools. They sit us all down at a table and then tell us we have to be wearing cloth masks. Why walk us through the whole restaurant and sit us down first then? Then the owner says it’s fine we can eat there as long as we don’t use the washroom. We’ve never had anyone discriminate between a face shield and a cloth mask in the last two years.

Ive been coming here for dine in for the last 6 years. Service is always phenomenal, the rolls are always made delicious. The most consistent sushi restaurant I've been to. Pro Tip: Their forest roll is to die for and so is their house sake.

Amazing food, great staff and wonderful atmosphere! We had the Spicy miso Ramen and the Dynamite combo, SO GOOD. We will be returning for the amazing food!

Foods good and staff are nice, but whats the point of calling ahead to place a takeout order if when you get there they completely forgot your order
Waited in the parking lot for 15 minutes till my order was supposed to be ready, went in and had to repeat my order and wait another 10 minutes for them to make my food. At least it was only 10min tho since it was 3pm.

It’s in our top 3 sushi places in Winnipeg. Always great service, quick preparation time even during rush hours, never mess up orders, fair pricing. Love the sushi pizza, although lately it lost it taste, like if sauce is forgotten or not enough salt. Otherwise it’s great. Love the mango sushi too

Great outdoor patio location and good sushi. Had to ask for ginger which uusually provided with. Nice private booths if desired.

Good location. Very beautiful view around the restaurant of pond and outside view. Parking is available right outside the restaurant and around but in some days you might have to park across. I like the setup basically, very well planned like separate area for dine in and sitting arrangements and interior is very matching too. Green inside and outside which is refreshing. One other good thing is for pickup orders they need to get in the restaurant. Customer service is not bad. People like this location and food I guess.

If you are looking for a unique atmosphere, great food, great service then look no further. I had a small plate platter, spicy ramen and of course Japanese beer (Asahi). 11 out of 10, so good! Will go again as soon as I can.

Just got back from grabbing a take out order. Ordered 2 bento boxes. Tempura bento and yakisoba bento. The salad dressing had a great sweet and vinegar fresh taste. The tempura was great. The sushi was a great taste and a good size generous portions. The yakisoba chicken was well worth the drive. Will be back to try more sushi. Great staff. Very freindly!

Great Japanese restaurant. Portions are generous, the quality is good. The room dividers made my experience very comfortable when considering Covid concerns. The private rooms are available at fee which I would love to try one days.

Great food as always. Finally came in person after almost 2 years of take-out ordering from here. Sat in one of the tatami rooms, with a reasonable mandatory 15% tip.
Upon entering, I noticed there's tempura crumbs on the seats and the table was not clean, that tells me making reservation 2 days prior does not mean they will be prepared for you, but that's ok, I asked for napkins to brush it off.
The part I'd say is unfortunate is that, the bell in the room might have not been functional as the server never came with our bill (tried opening the door to catch someone's attention but had no luck). After forever waiting for the bill, we went to the front of the restaurant to pay so we can finally leave, 2 workers by the debit machine, with no other customers, told us that our server will be right with us after I had expressed that we've been waiting for the bill and no one respond to the bell. As if no one else knew how to use the machine, which is definitely not true as I just saw them helping a take out customer with the same machine, and our server got helped by one of them with the machine when she finally came, that goes another 5 mins with 4 people blocking the entire entrance.
Things happen, and 5 mins isn't a whole lot, just disappointed that workers here refuse to step in even when it's as simple as taking the payments.
This is not the first time I've came to dine in or to use the Tatami rooms, but I would say this is by far the worst experience I've ever had here since 2012. Used to be a 4.5 star imo.

Food is great, some of the new staff are rude and argue with you about their mistakes.its our go to sushi place however they have new waitresses. One whole meal was forgotten, asked for cooked fish in the roll, got it completely raw and when we pointed it out to the waiter argued with us for a while until we just asked for the manager. One of the waiters doesn't writes orders.we asked him, few times to double check.we were given dessert before the whole meal.food is very good but they should really train them better.

Went tonight for dinner. We had the party platter for 4 and it was delicious. Rice is fresh, great variety of rolls. Seaweed salad was ok. Excellent customer service and prices are very reasonable. Our waitress was very attentive and food came out in less than 10 min after ordering. Will definitely come back.

The service was excellent. Our server checked in to make sure we understood menu options and was very helpful in our selection. The dishes were amazing, particularly tempura shrimp and vegetables which were perfectly light and crisp. We love the consistency at Asoyama and look forward to going back.

I used to enjoy eating at Asoyama Sushi, especially when they had a location on Regent. Recently, however, my cousin and I decided to visit the location on Kenaston, and my experience was not what it once was. For starters, the chicken teriyaki maki roll was watery and drenched in a salty sauce that tasted nothing like teriyaki. When I asked the server for a set of chopsticks, she kind of just tossed it on our table. The thing I was not impressed with the most was the piece of steel wool in my sushi roll. I get that mistakes happen, but something like that could have been avoided. I know that this restaurant is highly known for it’s quality food and service, and it would be a shame if they don’t maintain those titles.

Staff is professional and the restaurant is nice.
However, the food here is pricey compared to what you could get elsewhere. If you’re not too picky on how your food is served, I’d recommend other locations.

It's a little expensive but really good. The Ramen is great. I'm not picky about sushi, I love it all, but I would put this up there with my favorites in the area. Atmosphere feels exotic (haven't been to japan to confirm authenticity). Staff is very friendly. Would recommend.

The Best Value for Japanese food, PERIOD. If you don't like Japanese food, don't come here. If you like Japanese food and you think Japanese food is VERY EXPENSIVE, you will love here, especially for its $7.99 LUNCH SPECIAL. Also its Japanese Decor inside make our Japanese eating experience excellent. Give this restaurant a try, you will not regret it.

Food was fast and delicious! We tried to use the chopsticks but practice with them is limited! They have a vinagery type of soy sauce that comes with the dumplings and it was soo good! Service was so helpful and prompt! Friendly and quaint spot. From the outside of the building you would not know how truly nice it is inside. Tables are set up with little fabric partitions between each one and little rooms on the outside of the large rooms. I would eat here again! Thank you for such a pleasant experience. I Love Sushi. My partner like it, but the chopsticks and how to eat it was a good sport for me.
We will go there again.

Optional traditional seating, lots of options. Sushi rolls looked great and tasted better. Service was very friendly, they were busy so provided free appetizer while we waited.
