Zoo had offered discount Tuesdays at the cost of $10 for adults. However in that year the admission fee was raised to $12 per adult & offered free forvchildren's admission during the days of the Christmas Break in years 2015,2016,2017, and 2018.

The exhibit was opened in June 2010 as the lion pavilion, with a pair of African lions becoming the exhibits first residents. In April 2012, the African lions were replaced with Asian lions in the Pavilion of Lions exhibit, making the Assiniboine Park Zoo the very first facility in NA to house a pair of Asiatic lions. In 2013, a new 26,000 sq ft expansion of the enclosure for Sibwrian Tigers was constructed and opened. The new enclosure would assist the breeding program.

Zoo hosts summertime day camp for children of all ages as well as guided school and group tours.

Boo at the Zoo. Really disappointing changes this year. We have gone for years and loved all of it. Previously the event felt like a classic Halloween experience. This year we were forced to follow a controlled pathway- we did not like that - it was less interactive-rides we’re not as good- fewer shows- fewer characters - stations that required reading rather than experiences-and some occultish stuff that didn’t need to be there ie references to witchcraft and an Ouija board - little music playing. Overall really disappointing from previous years. Graveyard was more authentic previously. All the changes were disappointing. Felt like there were significant budget cuts to be honest. Really disappointed with the changes.

Love it! Kinda expensive but worth it if you go there early in the morning. All the animals are more active and you can capture some fantastic photos any time of day! Great for families and even for a cozy date night.

Good friends took us to the zoo to see the snowy owls. Snapped some shots of different animals. Went in with biased feelings to the idea of 'caged' animals. It is educational at best. I liked it!

I looooove the zoo, always a good time and to see if change over the years to improve the habitats are great changes

Super!
A very beautiful place.
Lots of animals and nice atmosphere.
It is better to choose a not very hot day to visit the zoo, then most of the animals will not be hiding from the sun and you can enjoy it.
On site you can eat ice cream and have a snack in the cafe.
There is also a souvenir shop.
Great place for the whole family.

Saw a lot of cute and diverse animals, and I enjoyed the walk. However, the horse ride wasn't available, there was a dead screen at the theatre, there were no events happening during our visit on the long weekend and public holiday, and many "homes" did not house any creatures but there were no signs. Also, the large reindeer was pacing back and forth, which seemed abnormal.

Overall a great outing for the kids
Some areas could use some tending too like cleaning up around the habitats

Saw the polar bears for the first time. Most animals were out. Spent 3 hours there. Grand daughter 15 months also enjoyed the dinosaurs.

Its Ok but very over priced for what it is! Everyone Is complaining there is reccession and there should be somthing done about it!

especially in summer when all animals are not active!

A lovely little quiet place that has access to the river. If you are craving nature and solitude this is perfect.

Went with my cousins to the park on a Friday. It has been awhile since we went here. Lots of kids due to a field trip so it was pretty busy. It was a really hot day and almost all of the animals in the zoo are hiding so we didn’t see much of them. Although, we got lucky enough to see the polar bears outside playing and wrestling around. It was still a good visit over all. We enjoyed the day there!

Toucan was really neat to see.
I'm guessing polar bears would be a lot more active in colder months?
23 August 2023 14:38
Large zoo with lots of diverse animal types and a very cool section of animatronic Dinosaurs.
Reasonable price for the size of the zoo

Beautiful zoo. Lots of different animals to see. Trams available to take you around. Lots of food options available around the zoo.

Assiniboine Park Zoo offers a mixed experience. Located within the picturesque Assiniboine Park, it provides a beautiful natural setting. The staff members are friendly and always ready to assist, ensuring a pleasant visit. However, I noticed that some enclosures are in need of renovation, which slightly affects the overall atmosphere. On the positive side, the zoo showcases an impressive variety of animals, accompanied by educational exhibits that engage visitors. On the downside, the food options within the zoo are limited and can be a bit overpriced. Despite its drawbacks, Assiniboine Park Zoo remains a decent destination for families to enjoy and learn about wildlife.

The Journey to Churchill Exhibit is the main attraction. I went on an extremely hot day in June which made enjoying the exhibits really difficult as there was little to no shade cover for most of the viewing areas.
11 August 2023 1:52
Nice experience. There are so many snow animals and even seven polar bears in the arctic section. That is the most precious experience i have ever had.

Great experience, bring your own food tho since the eating ammendites are extremely over priced

We wanted to see polar bears and the dinosaurs. And that is pretty much all we saw.

The exhibits/pens/whatever they are called were either empty (we really looked from lots of angles) or had 1 animal, who was trying to hide from people.

Very disappointing.

There looked to be a cement pond in each pen, but NO water. We lucked out that 2 polar bears were playing in the water so we did get to see them, and that was fun, but the docent assigned to the area didn’t know anything, not even how tall they are.

We went on a pretty warm day so some of the animals were hard to spot. But there was enough to entertain the whole family. We went with kids from 1 to 17 years and everyone had a good time
06 August 2023 13:32
Loved it so much! Way better than when I was young. They change things up often enough that it's always fresh!
03 August 2023 23:48
The polar bears were more than worth the visit. Very spacious zoo, so wonderful for most of the animals, a long way for visitors to walk. As feared, many animals were not to be seen because we were only there at noon and they hid in the summer. The focus is on animals here in the north.
What I really miss are informative, well-structured information boards. It would be even better to learn something surprising so that adults can also take something with them.
Don't forget that this is a local zoo. We are from Vienna, one of the top annual zoos in the world and here you can just see the difference. There are simply no large animals such as elephants, giraffes, pandas or a larger variety such as insect houses, aquariums, South America houses.
But all in all we really enjoyed the afternoon there.

The zoo is a great way to spend the morning, and the Tundra grill and co-located indoor playground is a perfect spot to stop for lunch! The dino park was fun too. Membership is offered, and there are different options based on number of people.
25 July 2023 8:04
I believe they close too early and do not recommend coming in when the day is hot, animals hide, we visit in May for the 1st time. Senior discount very little, tickets expensive $20.00
22 July 2023 7:00
The zoo was so much fun! The staff were all very friendly and helpful to find the things you wanted to see. It seems like they also take good care of the pathways by keeping them pretty clean, considering how large the zoo is. I witnessed one of the workers with the donkeys, and it was clear they had a deep love for the animals they were so friendly to the animals like they were their own pets. Will be back!

I enjoy taking my daughter to the zoo, we've had memberships for a few years now. I just renewed and was disappointed that they no longer have the "10$ admission" voucher when you buy a membership. It's now 25% for a guest (16$), and I only got one even though I purchased two memberships.
I would also like to make a suggestion in case anyone with decision making power from the park actually reads this - it would be really nice if the washrooms were more kid friendly. Smaller, child size toilets and lowered sinks would make life so much easier for the thousands of kids and their adults, who visit the park.
15 July 2023 16:17
Don't have seen much, most of them are empty, wasting times and money paid too much for nathing.
09 July 2023 12:50
I've always loved this zoo. I'm a fan of the setting of many of the enclosures in that many offer cover for animals. It can make them harder to see but I know it also gives the animals comfort. I was able to speak to a couple of keepers and they were very knowledgeable about the animals and the family was able to learn a lot.

Price wise it feels like it has gone up a lot but I believe it is still competitive priced and with the big renovations (polar bear exhibit) it makes sense.

Inside the zoo there are food vendors which are again a little pricey but the food is good and you are able to bring your own snacks.

Big recommend. We try to visit at least twice a year.
