Don’t bother with this place, 3rd time I’ve given them a chance on takeout and again the order was missing items and the meat was poor quality. Those who have been fortunate enough to try real bbq down south wouldn’t feed this to their dog.

With how the owner responds to reviews I’d rather starve than eat here.

Great décor. Service was a slow. Portion sizes were great. Steady line up of people. Will definitely be going back.

Visited this weekend. Their meat is not the best. Dont waste time coming from winnipeg. Rudest owners ever. Waitresses have snobby attitudes. And yes after reading their other reviews I also will be attacked for expressing my opinion.

Food is tasty, prices are reasonable, staff are kind and courteous. It is a bit loud (tin walls/high ceilings).

Nothing in Winnipeg comes close to this BBQ place for great food. Decor is a confusing mix of 50s diner and country western. A few tweaks with the interior and this place would have it all. We were surprised how good the food was.

Our first time going to Bigg Smoak this evening and boy were we delighted! Our wonderful server, Melanie, was such a delight. While she was busy with other duties, she was still available when we needed assistance and was just so much fun to have as our waitress.
The food! Oh my goodness. Burnt ends were delicious! Sauce was good, meat was good. Nice little kick to the sauce. Overall, delicious!
My husband had the Z man and said there was a lot of it, but he enjoyed it greatly. He also had a poutine with it and said it was one of the better ones that he's had. I had the Bigg Bird and there is just something special about a juicy chicken sandwich which has been encased in delightful batter. Accompanied that with some taters tots because I had to.
All in all, service was excellent, food delicious, flies (we chose to eat outside) entertaining. One wasp. He was annoying lol.
Will be back for sure!

Great place to have in steinbach, delicious food. The only sad part is the waiting time.you better call ahead and order and then pick up your meal. But that means they are busy and that's good. Great team guys keep up the good work

My husband had been waiting to go to Bigg Smoak for a couple of years and we finally decided to make the trip to Steinbach. It’s an hour drive from Winnipeg. They open at 11 and we were there for an early lunch. We ordered burnt ends, loaded potato skins and our friends went for the rib and brisket platters. The service was good and the food was prompt…and bigg portions. We were so full we didn’t have a chance to sample any desserts. Check it out if you find yourself in Steinbach.

The food is okay, but not good enough to overlook the subpar service. Between being put on hold in the middle of ordering and then receiving just 8 fries with our burger, it won't be a repeat for us.
Update: We didn't learn our lesson! This time around, one of our salads had lumps of vegetables frozen together. We also learned that "burgers & handhelds" doesn't mean anything- the 'Woolwich' we ordered was a pile of meat and vegetables on the plate, no bun, bread or gluten free alternative. Finally, the server didn't come once for any refills.
In their reply to this review they mention "finger snapping" at the waitress, yet that never happened? Make of that what you will.

Had the reuben sandwich which was their special today. Hands down the best reuben I've ever had. The corned beef was the juiciest and most tender I've ever had, and the sauerkraut was as good it gets. Just don't wear your good clothes, because you most likely won't leave without a stain. These sandwiches are stacked so full you won't be able to keep it together.

Review of our Dining experience Saturday Nov. 26th at 7 PM.
There was 3 of us. The two ladies I was with both ordered various beef and pork briskets along with one of them including ribs. I ordered wings which were average just like anywhere else. The two ladies dinners were cold when they served them. We informed the server and she brought back 2 new orders that were luke warm. Who wants luke warm brisket. Also one of the salads were requested to have no croutons, and it arrived with. The server brought back another salad with no dressing at all. Dressing had to be requested. The ribs that were served were full of fat. Very poor quality. This has been the 8th time we were at this restaurant in the past year. I did not even want to go to this restaurant again, but the wifes Friend was in town and she wanted to try it. NEVER, EVER GOING BACK HERE! The server was very good tho, not her fault. The kitchen staff are at fault here, along with quality control of outgoing product. We will stick to Santa Lucia as we should have known better. As there are not many options for better dining in Steinbach, Bigg Smoak needs to step up here.

We try something different from the menu every time we go, never been disappointed, the prices are good and the place is clean

Food is ok but the service is not worth it. The server quite literally threw containers of butter at me when I asked for it a second time. She admitted to doing it when I asked her about it because I had snapped at her. Whilst I didn't think I had, I apologized anyway. Still definitely not worth the trip.

The bbq was ok, good for limited venues in Manitoba. I had the platter with brisket, pulled pork and the ribs. It was good I like baby backs better than st Louis style. I wasn't a fan of the beans but the coleslaw was good. I will try again to see.

When we arrived the hostess was more interested in whispering to another waitress than seating us. I found this to be very rude and immature. And management needs to address this. It's not the way a restaurant should be run.

We visited the place for lunch, and we loved the food and the service, however we were stunned when we witnessed a fight between a customer and the staff! The manager should have been wiser

If you're understaffed, hire more staff?:)
If you're having trouble hiring, pay a livable wage! The menu items keep increasing are the wages going up too? Or just yours?

The food was amazing, and the sides were crazy huge, Not like those sorry little prison portions most places give out. Prices are very good, waitress was extremely attentive and kind, always had a refill ready before my previous cup ran out. Highly recommend

Was gonna show up at 7 but got delayed and got there 8 figuring oh their open till 9 perfect can have a nice family dinner. Who know it would be the end of my kids world to find out she couldn’t t go Soo please update your hours

And tbh if owner reads this the 2 stars was a literal thumb slip I meant 3 as for the short staffed stuff sorry for the troubles everyone’s having issues now a days totally get it it’s why I didn’t review my other experience cuz ain’t the staffs fault that the worker market is having issues and only talked about something minor that just wanted you to notice and correct save others

Holy hell the food was amazing. I couldn't decide what to get so we all got something different and sampled it all. You want some good smoked food make the trip. I was surprised the price was cheap for the quality and portion size. I'd eat here daily if I could

The food was really good, the service was good. Waitress a little over friendly, to many innuendos if you know what I mean. (When you know you know)

In from Winnipeg, best bbq, awesome food, great service, lots of parking, lots of outdoor seating, worth the trip. Really great menu.

Best BBQ place in steinbach try the bigg poutine (you'll thank me later). Also you guys should get back on skip

Delicious food, I have had a few burgers here, both very flavorful with great sauces and toppings. Their fries have always been really tasty as well.
That being said, it feels pricier than it needs to be, though perhaps that is the cost of the fancier meats and styles of meat that are served here.

A must try if you are in steinbach for dinner or if you are a fan of barbecue and don't mind a little bit of a drive from the city. The food was great. Beans and cornbread were fantastic (everyone focuses on the meat but in my opinion the sides make the meal).

It was pretty busy so we had to wait a bit when we got there. We showed up early but I guess everyone had the same idea. We thought it was thinking out as we were about to leave but it must have been just a bit of a backlog bussing and cleaning tables because the lobby was full.

The waitress didn't tell us this until we asked but the little cup of butter is honey butter for your cornbread.

Messed up our order big time! Even though they repeated what we said when we called. Had to order from another place to feed our quests because we didn’t get enough food. The food we did get was really good though even though it was all cold! Our appetizer kit that we ordered had all kinds of random stuff in it that wasn’t even suppose to be in there and half of it was missing! I was very disappointed but at least the wings were good!

We are not new to Bigg Smoak and until now would have rated them right up there with the very best. Consistency is always important in the food service industry especially when it comes to take out. Yesterday we ordered the chicken tenders meal with a side of chicken fingers. My wife and I are generally able to share one meal with the addition of the side. On this occasion the chicken was extremely spicy and we don't like spicy foods. Either they changed the recipe or put the spice in twice. We each ate half a strip and couldn't manage any more. What a waste! Add to that, I had asked for gravy on the side which they forgot and there was no coleslaw. Being a 35 minute drive from Ste. Anne I wasn't going back. Needless to say, we won't order that again.
