Canad Inns Destination Centre Garden City

We stayed here last weekend. The hotel just kind of gives off a weird vibe. Alcohol and cannabis stores attached to it. Our hallway reaked of weed from about 8: 00 pm on through the night. I put a towel at the bottom of the door to try to keep the smell out.

The staff was friendly and kind.

We got the "deluxe room". (it was the cheapest available at the time) the room was clean, but it's got a weird walled off room with a tv and one chair. So it makes the room feel extra small. It also is literally feet away from the hot tub in the pool area, so it was VERY loud all evening long. Then the pool lights came on at 7: 30 AM and blaired through our window so I hopped up to try to cover the crack in the curtains.

The housekeeping banged quite loudly and said "housekeeping" at 7: 00 AM. I was surprised at the early wake up.

After I asked them to come back later, as we were still sleeping, they went on their way, however they seemed to have a radio our something on their trolly because after that I just heard music all morning as they cleaned the rooms around us.

Thankfully it was just my husband and I, our 4 kids were at home with my mother in law. Had we had the kids I would have been more upset by the noise and lights.

All in all it wasn't the worst hotel experience I have ever had, but for $160 I would never recommend it.

Just a run down hotel where they are trying to save money on the small things. The staff were friendly. There is nowhere to sit in the lobby which is odd there’s 2 people currently sitting on the floor. I think this might be the first hotel that people are sitting on the floor waiting for their cabs.

When I walked into the room the perfume scent was over powering. After a small investigation I discovered it was the bed sheets and pillows. It was so strong I took 6 pillows to the front desk. The guy said ‘I’m allergic to perfume l’ and wouldn’t smell them. But said he could smell how potent they were and would see about changing them. I received 3 pillows in return there was 4 of us. When I requested another that showed up about 11pm and was told it’s the only one left. Crazy.

We book this hotel every new year with our kids for the pool and restaurant. The restaurant was closed for no reason I could see.

We will not be returning here.

We recently had a minor disaster at home, and ended up having to spend a time in local hotels, while insurance company and restoration company worked on our home.
One of the places we stayed at was the Canad Inns Garden City.
I must say, I am absolutely thrilled to have had time spent there. The stay was amazing.
The attached pub, Tavern United, was fun, good food, great service, large selection of on tap beer, which is important to us.
The rooms were very well appointed, although the tubs are definitely my personal favourite. Large, jetted, roomy, sooo much comfort.
The beds were clean, roomy, and, most importantly, super comfortable! I would recommend staying here to anyone in need of a room.
The Guest Services Manager, Melanie, is definitely a huge part of the reason I would, and will, recommend this hotel. She is an asset to any establishment, and her attention and interest is very appreciated.
We will be returning, whether for pleasure or business.

Diana is a very competent receptionist. She is very costomer orieted. She knows how to solve issues. The manager should definitely promote her and make in charge of this place.

Diana, is such a great greeter at front desk. She is really friendly and outgoing. I'm so grateful you have her as an employee at the hotel. Will definitely be back.

I'm delighted to share my experience at the hotel. The room accommodations were indeed pleasing, and I found the breakfast to be both fast and decent. However, it's worth noting that the hotel's exterior could use a bit of updating. Despite that, I had a decent stay overall and would definitely consider staying there again. Happy travels!

Nice hotel! Friendly service, they even called my room to see if everything was to my liking! A Tavern attached to the building and a giant pool area with a slide. Definitely recommend staying here!

The hotel is in a nice area in Winnipeg, there are different malls close to it. The hotel itself ia really nice, it has a pool and the rooms are spacious and very clean. The personnel very kind and friendly.

The service we received here was great, they were able to accommodate an early check in for us and we had a beautiful room with a fire place, although it had no window to look out of, it made up for that in other aspects of the room. The hotel was very clean.

First room close to swimming pool smelled moldy/musty. The front staff changed us to the second floor closer to the elevator and less mucky. The beds were comfy and room were clean. The carpet and bathroom needs a complete reno. Overall the staff was accommodating and helpful. Didn’t try the restaurant or the slot games lounge which is attached to the hotel. Location right off Phylis and near two shopping centers, fast food, everything is walkable even if you don’t have a car. Free parking, wheel chair accessible. Best part was the splash water slide hot tub swimming area for the kids.

Bad area. Funky smelling room. Bath drain didn't work. Fridge didn't work. TV was small and old. Hallway carpets looked rough. Pool area not the cleanest. Also Supposed to receive a gift upon booking online, which we did not. Got the email confirming it. Emailed twice after stay about not getting it and did not even get a reply. Would NOT recommend staying! Especially any with a family.

Update** After speaking with the manager we were offered a complimentary stay and it was so so much better. The room was nice the staff were very helpful and kind. They have definitely updated a few things (the keys for the rooms) since we were last there.
The only issue we had was the pool was too cold.
After that experience we would stay there again.

This was a terrible experience!
The only positive thing I have to say is the Aaltos restaurant was very kind and gave us breakfast past breakfast time.
We found a dirty sock in our room, my husband took it to the front desk and they told him to throw it out because there was no lost and found. Nothing about the fact that our room wasn’t cleaned properly.
On our second night the fire alarm was pulled at 3 in the morning, I know this wasn’t the hotels fault but it was handled very poorly. The fire department seemed very annoyed with the way the staff handled it as well. And it was not fun for us with our 6 month old baby.
On our third day we ordered food from the pub online, our credit card was charged and when I went to pick it up the door to the pub from inside the hotel was locked so I went outside to go in the front door and it turns out the pub was closed. I also got locked out of the door I came out of and had to walk all the way around to the front of the hotel in -30 degree weather without a jacket.
Our room key stopped working 3 times, had it reset twice and then gave up.
We aren’t checking out until tomorrow morning but I would not be surprised if something else went wrong.

The location is quite a drive from my place in Transcona. We were there for a birthday party (hall rental). Great service and good food. Friendly staff.

I stayed at canad inn Garden City in Winnipeg MB on may 27/28 for my son’s birthday party. The motor of the ventilation system for the pool area was not working and my kids got very sick, our eyes were watering kids were coughing and had to go outside for air, one of the boys threw up.
I let the front desk know that we could no longer be in the area and something was VERY WRONG AND PEOPLE WERE SICK the staff ignored to problem and kept the pool open until closing time. (They checked the problem then next morning not even the night of) We were unable to go into the area again and we’re very disappointed as the pool was the only reason we booked. (For my son’s birthday)
The hotel offered a refund the next morning but never followed through as I booked through a company through Expedia and the hotel couldn’t find and didn’t bother to find my reservation in order to refund. Long story short, Canad Inn does not take care of their patrons even when we got sick from staying there.
They have not reached out once even after requesting and leaving voicemails for the GENERAL MANAGER. Also they knew we had to file a fraud claim, as well as Canad Inn kept my credit card on file for incidentals open for 3 weeks after the booking took place and was paid in full! Horrible service and place to stay! Gross customer service!

When we checked in we got a surprise that we were upgraded to a suite at no extra charge because the hotel was super booked up. The front staff was amazing. The pool however had such a chlorine smell like it almost burnt your eyes when you walked into the pool area. The room was clean however you can start seeing the dating of the building in the bathroom. Rust was starting to form on the ceiling. The tub-surround was yellow. Could use some upgrades before the hotel goes downhill. All and all a great stay. We had event down the road and would possibly stay at this hotel again.

Trying to arrange a wedding reception, they don't seem interested.

After having the Wedding here, I have to say the We could not have chosen a better Venue! The room, decor and attention to detail was perfect! The food was nothing short of INCREDIBLE! Everything was done perfectly and so full of flavor, our guests are still raving! Sheri, the event host and Banquet Manager was there from setup to clean up and was very accommodating. Imee worked hard to put the event together in a compressed timeline! I say this event was perfect and I have them to thank for it all!

Everything was fine with the exception of a MILLION children. What’s up with that? Seems to be a common theme here. I mean I’m all for families but why are there kids playing hockey in the hallway? Literally weaving between my boyfriend and I while we’re trying to find our room? Screaming outside the doors? Mostly parents fault but clearly they think this is acceptable for some reason…keep the families on the lower floors and stick everyone else upstairs if this is the case because most childless people are exactly that for a REASON, lol
If you’re not a family of 7 i would suggest requesting a room ANYWHERE but the bottom 2 floors

The older lady working in the front desk is very rude, not welcoming. If you're not happy with your job, leave.
