Chop Steakhouse & Bar

Easily one of my favorite spots in Winnipeg, I make sure to come every time I’m in town the food is consistently amazing and so is the service but I highly recommend asking for Veronica or Dani as I have never had better service than from them.

This is a place that values customer service. My husband and I went to Chop in Winnipeg for our anniversary using a gift card. When the gift card wasn't working, the General Manager Mike went above and beyond to help us with the issue. In an age where customer service seems to be a thing of the past, that was not so at Chop! We were so impressed, we will definitely will be returning, as the food was delicious, and such great customer service!

Don't get the escargot mushrooms, sour taste and nothing you'd expect in other restaurants.

Other then that everything was great! The prime rib is as good as it can get. And the goatcheese dip was delicious with the garlic and and onion in it.

This was our first visit to Chop. It was a great experience and the food was delicious! Dave and Sydney were very friendly and offered up great service. They were very knowledgeable regarding the menu and food preparation, turns out capers are not fish and taste great!

We went Friday night during happy hour and the happy hour menu is great. Sabrina our server is very friendly and accommodating. Nice to talk to. Excellent service, good food and great atmosphere.

Flank Steak was pretty tasty. But the peppercorn sauce was very salty. Seems kind of ironic when salt is the predominant flavour of your peppercorn sauce

The relaxed atmosphere and service is always 100%. The welcome we get from Sabrina and how she remembers our favorites is exceptional. The food is always so delicious.

Nice place with standard, average menu. Don't expect to see interesting meals or servings. Same old piece of steak or ribs with fries and simple salat.
Food: as I mentioned menu is very average, without interesting meals.you can find 99% of this meals in almost any steakhouse. Steak comes with French fries and some kind of arugula. We tried 3 different types of steaks. Very average.nobody got this feeling " wow this is a really awesome steak! ".
Beer & Wine: acceptable variety of tap beer and nice range of wine. Beer prices probably $0.50 higher than average in the city.
Service: waitress was nice, polite and knowledgeable. Waiting time for a meals wasn't fast but still acceptable. Beverages came right the way. Waitress forgot about no ice beverage but it was fixed very fast.waitress came couple times to check, but wasn't annoying.
Design: probably the best part of this steakhouse and the reason why i gave them 4 stars instead of 3.design is outstanding with tall ceilings, huge doors, tall mirrors in the bathrooms and all kind of fancy stuff.
Cleanness: Place is clean. Tables are clean and not sticky, chairs are comfortable and clean. Plates, cutlery, glasses all clean. Washroom is clean and no bad smell.
Overall nice place with standard steakhouse menu and above average design.

Very nice staff, food was expensive, but very good. Drinks are a little expensive, but overall, very good experience, would definitely be going there again.

We went here for our anniversary. Ainsley made the experience very special with her friendly and efficient care as she served us. Great meal! Had the chili shrimp.yummmm. The prochinni steak was amazing. Thank you for helping us celebrate our special day.

If you knew the reason why I was there, lol. Anyway, the drink specials were superb. Staff was friendly. Have been before and will be back again.

I was here years ago and the food was very good. This latest trip was a disappointment.

The steak was rubbery and the "seasonal vegetables" were just a piece of plain pumpkin and some very tough green beans. I admit I've never worked in a restaurant, but I wouldn't serve plain pumpkin with a $30 dinner.

It’s sad to go to a nice restaurant and have to say the best thing I ate here were the fries. Tried some appetizers which were average. The steak bites varied greatly in size, which is probably why the big pieces were raw inside. For dinner had some kind of fancy- sounding salad which was soggy and overwhelmed with a very lemony sour dressing. Ordered it with chicken which was a very small tasteless portion. No one else in my party was impressed with their dinner either. Tasted the burger, which was both in consistency & flavour like mush. On the bright side the service is very nice.

Great service and the food is really good. We always get their steaks (even over skip). Best garlic mashed potatoes in the city.

Came here for a birthday dinner and was blown away by the service Emily provided. She was personable, professional and made the experience unique. Server to server she was exceptional. Will be back!

Wish I could rate it 100 stars! Best Prime Rib I have EVER had! The steak alone, was fantastic, but, the horseradish makes it! Wonderfully, Absolutely Awesome service from our server Kai, never missed a beat, made sure we were enjoying our meal and staying hydrated!

First time trying this restaurant today, and it did not disappoint at all! The food is phenomenal, service of the staff is top-notch in my opinion.

Our experience at Chop for my boyfriend and I’s anniversary was amazing! Our server, Maddie, went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. She made us laugh and got us a delicious array of deserts and a free appetizer. I definitely recommend Chop to anyone. Worth every penny. Definitely coming back!

We always go here and enjoy our meal - awesome food & atmosphere - but this time our steaks were undercooked & some veggies overdone like almost black. They offered us a discount so we appreciated that. We will be back.

Had the burger week burger here. Different taste. Good medley of flavours. Had the truffle fries but I could not taste the truffle, seemed like basic fries. Little disappointed in the fries.

Came here to try their burger of the week. When making the order it was specifically taken by the chef from the kitchen. I was impressed right away. When it was finished, it was brought out by the chef again and the presentation I thought was impeccable. The aroma itself was making me salivate. When I was finally able to taste the burger it had such a sweet subtle sweetness of pumpkin. There was just the right amount of meat and the textures were just right as you're eating. Hard to explain, but it's the best burger I've had and lived up to my expectations for burger week 2021. After having this burger, I can fully appreciate why it demands this price point. Great job Chops!

My mum and I went here for an early dinner on a Saturday. We were seated in the restaurant in one of the tall backed comfortable booths. Very pleasant serving staff from entering to exiting. So much to choose from on the menu, we settled on the Prime Rib done medium rare, one with the loaded baked potato, one with mashed and a side of the sauteed mushrooms. I had the mashed potatoes, so silky and buttery. Nicely roasted red peppers and zucchini. Temperature on the meat was absolutely perfect. Fabulous experience. We are already planning an evening out next month with friends and have decided on a repeat visit.

The food was absolutely outstanding! Highly recommend the smoked Ribeye. Kyle was our server, very attentive, phenomenal service from Kyle.

We were in tonight and had a small mix-up with a steak. It was instantly corrected by the server and the manager with ZERO fuss! The evening was awesome. Very attentive server and the food was in point! I'll be going back again. Thanks to all at Chop.

The food was good, as it should be for the price. Service during the pandemic although understandably difficult, could have been better. The issue was we had a 9 pm reservation and after we were seated by 9: 15 we were informed we had to be out of the restaurant by 10. They don't have a menu and you have to do everything one your smart phone through there website witch is fine however it requires you to share your location with them and while looking at the menu they have pop up advertisements, that is pretty frustrating when your being rushed to order your apitizers drinks and main coarse all at once. Also the first few choices we had for appetizers were all unavailable. They flicked on the lights to max brightness while we were being served our main coarse. They did give us a free dessert to go wich was nice I guess. $230 for a rushed meal for 2 on Valentine's Day weekend.

Excellent resturant. Would have gave 5 stars however sitting in the booths thr cold draft from doors being opens is a downer.

Service, food and drinks were great; Filet Mignon was perfect, the mashed potatoes were not chunky BUT should have been better mashed (and seasoned). Would try it again!

I ordered the smoked rib steak. I'm disappointed to say that I don't believe it's actually smoked. It tasted like a seasoning blend they added to "fake" smoke it. That said, it was still lovely. My first steak came out slightly overcooked which wasn't a problem. However, the were two veins of tough connective gristle running through it. Not wanting to complain, I mentioned it to our server, Jessica. She mentioned it to the manager. I have to say, these people went above and beyond. The manager not only replaced my steak but comped it without me even asking. She wanted our experience to be memorable and it certainly was. The second steak was mouth watering. I will definitely be back. I have never felt so cared for by a wait staff.

It was okay. Smoked steak was incredible but not very hot. Side dishes were little lack luster. But the steak was amazing.

Yet another wonderful experience! My husband and I have been to this location 5 times, and whether we are in the lounge or dining room, we know it will be great!

Go for happy hour. The steak bites are amazing. Big portions for the price and very very good. Love this place. Skip the fast food and go eat there for the same price.
I have also had the burgers there and also delicious. The staff was friendly today.

I was here with a group from work. I have never been in a chop resuraunt so I honestly did not know what to expect. Unfortunately I do not remember our servers name, but she was very good. She was knowledgable on the menu items and just a very nice lady. I wish I remembered her name because I would tell you to sit in her section if you go here.
One of the others ordered a bunch off appetizers, crab cakes, onion rings and wings. Thought these were a bit of an odd choice being in a steakhouse and all, but they were all quite good. The onion rings were quite a surprise. Super crispy and great flavor.
I had the New York steak, and just fries and gravy as a side. The fries were ok, but nothing to write home about, but the steak on the other hand, first off it was like $45. Which for me seemed a bit steep, (yes, I am super cheap) but seeing as this is a higher end place, I went with it.
So the other thing I should mention is that I am one of the weird people of the world that likes the flavor of meat. Not the stuff that gets put on it, not the parts that get burnt when it is cooked. Just the taste of the meat. I like my steak blue rare. So yeah, it does not take long to cook. Most places, even steak houses seem to have issues getting this right. It is either still cold in the middle or more of a rare. I asked the waitress if they could do a blue rare properly, she confidently said no problem. And she was right. They nailed it. Nice color, great flavor. No major fat or grissel parts that make it chewy.
I don't remember how big the menu said the steak was, I was not overly worried about it at the time, but it has been a long time since I went to this type of restaurant and could not finish a meal. The steak was huge! Kind of threw the concept of 1/4 of your plate being meat and half of it being veggies. This steak took up half the plate. And I think there was a tomato or something there, but it was not important.
So overall, there was a group of 7 of us. A few drinks each, a bunch of appys and I think most of us barely made it through our meals because they were that big, the bill was just under $700. So $100 each for an amazing dinner. Well worth it I think. But don't bother with the fries. Get a baked potato instead

Have never seen such a thin cut of beef in my life, nevermind a prime rib. Impossible to cook to order as it was very well done the moment it hit the grill.

Meals here were amazing, obviously a bit pricy being a high end restaurant. The restaurant itself is one of 5 connected to the Sandman hotel near the Winnipeg Airport, we're thankful that the connections between the restaurant and the hotel are all inside as there was a blizzard outside (which was one of the reasons why our flight was cancelled). The place was dimmly lit which added a nice and private atmosphere. Given that we were eating at about 11 at night the place wasnt packed (maybe 3-5 groups). The restaurant is split into two sections, a bar (which was more busy) and the restaurant. Given the two sides were so close together, surprisingly the noise from the bar wasn't noticeable from the restaurant. The place was furnished in a way that added a bit of color and modern like feel to the restaurant, it was interesting that the washrooms were also designed to match (one such oddity was a fireplace about 4 feet up the wall). We ordered a full rack of ribs, beef burger and French onion soup to share. For dessert we went with the sampler trio which came with a blueberry cheesecake, chocolate creme dessert, and creme brulee. Everything was delicious and visually pleasing. The server was very friendly and didn't ask for a tip (scratching out the space on the receipt) we gave a tip anyways. The meals were served not long after we ordered and the server came along once in a while to ensure everything was good. The meal portions were very generous, and we left full and very pleased. Would definitely eat here again, but only on special occasions. Highly recommended going here for a celebratory night out.

Great meal. The smoked rib eye steak was great, with an excellent sauce on the side as a nice add. Service was great too, our waiter was top notch, and even got an extra strawberry for us after we paid the bill. Price was reasonable too. Though not cheap, you get good value.

Filet was excellent, ceaser salad was excellent, service was great. Nice ambience, great place to have dinner.

Appetizer: Lobster and Shallot Dip, was tasty though the chips were a tad burnt
Main: Steak with prawns & mashed potatoes
Only part I really enjoyed was the potatoes. Onion fries were odd (but my partner liked them), tomato was ok, prawns were good, steak was disappointingly small though good.
Pricewise a tad more expensive than Joey Kenaston, and the mixed drinks were surprisingly good (Pink Lemonade and Sparkling Bellini). Overall nothing amazing but the drinks and atmosphere (the decor-wow!) but still a good night out. Service was perfect.

Went there with my partner and too bad he wasn’t aware about the food he ordered that it’s pork which he can’t eat, The Manager went to our table and they apologized for what happen and they took care of the meal that he ordered and offered him a comeback card and we didn’t expected it at all we will definitely coming back they surely know how to treat the guest right and food was excellent too

First. The waiter who seemed very nice brought us coffee. Cold. Huh? I asked for hot coffee. He promised to make me a fresh pot in 5 minutes. We put in our orders. 15 minutes later he brought the coffee. It was ok. The food came immediately. I had ordered their signature burger. I hadn't had one in weeks. It looked great. Not that great. Gave me a stomach ache. My wife had a stomachs ache after. We paid nearly $70 for lunch including tip. We passed by A&W later and they had a burger advertised for 3.79. I knew it would have been better. But the decor was very nice at Chop.
Prediction. Closed.

A nice place to go for a date night. They had appetizers and craft beer on sale the night we went. Good staff and cozy surroundings.

A little pricey but worth every penny. Food and service that good are hard to come by in the peg but they nailed it on both counts!

Chop is a truly well run establishment. Everyone who works there knows their job, and they make sure you have a great experience. The food is perfectly prepared, served hot, with an attractive flavorful presentation. We have eaten there three times in our 10 days in Canada, and the manager never fails to come by and make sure everything is perfect, and if there's anything you need the managers do not mind helping you. I wish that we had such a restaurant in my hometown of Tucson, Arizona.

A total 180 from the keg.the Chop is young, exciting, and inviting; and the food is among the best there is, but is reasonably priced.

Good food, good service, good selection of food and drinks. If you are in the neighborhood, stop in, you won't be disappointed.
