Any trip like this depends in part on luck—the bears and the lights either are there or they aren’t. For us they were there. We saw seven bears, some quite close, on the first day; four or five the next; and four or five on the last day. (We were in the last session in 2023.). We had a very nice northern lights viewing the first night, the other nights were cloudy.

The guides—Jes, Marco, and Boomer—were wonderful! Friendly, very well-informed about polar bears and other things arctic, and quite good at guiding 14 guests through the region around the lodge. Ben and Nicole did a great job of hosting us at the lodge, and their staff of chefs and housekeepers were friendly and efficient. The quality of the lodging and the quality of the food were top-notch. The lodge (we were at the Seal River Lodge) was beautiful, plus it was very clean and very comfortable.

I can’t really speak to what the lodging at the Blueberry Inn will be like for future guests since it was clearly not entirely finished when we stayed there.

The tundra buggy tour was quite nice. We saw more bears and even spotted a mink.

Churchill Wild was amazing! The lodging, the food, the staff.all excellent! Our lodge was very comfortable and filled the need for having good times with our group and quiet time to rest. The staff was very personable and accommodating every step of the way. Our guide in Churchill, Stephanie was fabulous! The food was chef made and many dishes were local to the area.you could tell a lot was put into planning/preparing the meals. 3 hot ones a day! The hikes to look for polar bears were great though one should know its a little tougher walking with all of the necessary cold weather gear on. The guides Terry, Norm, and Marko were very knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting information on the area and the wildlife. They are up against the somewhat unpredictable reality of nature and the wild but put forth great effort in seeking out the bears for the group. Seeing the polar bears right there in front of you in the wild in their habitat is so exciting and like a dream.
At nights, we got to enjoy amazing northern lights!
Eagan who drove our tundra buggy did a great job and was excellent at finding the active bears! Our buggy was a fun day and was chartered only for our small group of 15 thanks to Churchill Wild!
The days were full and the nights were restful.truly the trip of a lifetime for sure but one we hope to do again! - Reese & Mike from Virginia

Stayed at the Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge:

You won't find a better northern outdoor experience than with Churchill Wild.

As a Canon USA endorsed photographer I am very particular about the images I photograph for my portfolio, I only want the best. Churchill Wild gives you the best and coupled with the amazing hospitality and premiere venue you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this site for film crews and guests alike if you are interested in photographing "bucket list" animals that would be very difficult to see anywhere else.

If you are interested in booking - please note the best times of the season to find the animal you are interested in seeing, I recommend reaching out to the CW staff as they are very helpful, knowledgable, and honest.

Birds, Bears and Beluguas was an amazing trip in August 2018. We saw so many polar bears up close, loved swimming in the wild with the gorgeous Beluga whales and the wonderful hikes
across beautiful terrain (I love fireweed!). The guides were amazing and the lodge very cute and rustic. Highly recommend this trip to see the polar bears over Svalbard. It really was a trip of a lifetime. Thank you so much to the brilliant team at Churchill Wild.

Our trip up to the Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge this fall was a stellar experience!

This lodge, located near the Hudson Bay coast and an hour’s flight from Churchill, offers all the comforts of home, which is amazing considering its remote location, but the five star dining and the friendly and accommodating staff, who try very hard to make your time there as enjoyable as possible, played a major role in contributing to a fantastic experience.

We appreciated the introductory/meet & greet dinner, hosted by Mike and Sue from Churchill Wild, conducted at the Grand Hotel across from the Winnipeg Airport terminal on the evening prior to our early morning departure, providing us with both the opportunity to meet the other guests on our trip, as well as to learn more information about what to expect on our adventure.

We felt looked after from the moment we checked in at the Grand until the moment our flight returned us home.

Our guides were attentive and personable, regaling us with interesting information regarding the area and the wildlife, and ensured our comfort and enjoyment on every excursion, which were never without delicious snacks and beverages.

We were able to see dozens and dozens of polar bears during our flights between Churchill and the lodge, as well as an exciting encounter with one on the ground on one of our excursions, which we were able to pursue to a closer distance by methodically approaching him on foot as a group, thanks to our experienced guides Emri and Adam!

Other highlights would include two beautiful hikes, a kettle campfire one evening (thanks Adam!) and star gazing through a telescope with a fantastic view of the moon and Saturn (thanks Graham!), two evening presentations by our guides; one on polar bears, and another on wolves, enjoying northern lights, and wildlife visiting the lodge area, such as a recurring black bear and lots of owls.

Our truly amazing chef, Joshua, made every meal a delightful experience, and every evening we enjoyed a time of recapping the day together with the other guests during happy hour, which was accompanied by yet more delicious appetizer treats, while also enjoying the lodge lounge area with comfy couches, fireplace, reading material, and lots of windows looking out onto Hudson Bay. The beds were super comfortable too, and the entire place was kept pristine clean. Thank you Tayla, Jaclyn and Chloe for a fabulous lodge experience!

Our final afternoon was spent back in Churchill enjoying a wonderful tour led by Jennifer, and which we found very both educational and interesting. The coastal geography around Churchill is truly beautiful and a surprise treat included watching quite a few beluga whales on one of our stops.

Thank you Churchill Wild for the experience and memories of a lifetime!

My wife and I, and a group of friends recently stayed at Seal River Lodge and Tundra Camp. Our experience was amazing and couldn't have been better! Being in the Canadian Arctic is remarkable, made the more so through a perfect blend of polar bear encounters, overland hikes, zodiac excursion on Hudson Bay to view the Beluga whales, viewing the supernatural northern lights and camping on the Tundra.

The Churchill Wild staff - guides, lodge and camp personnel - made our trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience. They were knowledgeable, hospitable and engaging. The Seal River Lodge was very comfortable and thoughtfully designed to take best advantage of the remarkable scenery and wildlife. The food was delicious and rivals what you'd find in a fine big-city restaurant.

Thank you Mike and Jeanne and the whole Churchill Wild team for making our trip so wonderful!
