Waiting upwards of 20 minutes at table to be asked if we’d like a drink or given menus. Place empty staff completely inattentive last couple visits over different staff yet. Appears to be management issues.

Great Indian cuisine, but service can be slow at times. Flavors are authentic and the ambiance is pleasant, making it worth the wait.

I love the food at Clay Oven. Service was great. Try the Navratan Korma, the Aloo Gobi, Chana Masala, and butter chicken or chicken tikki masala. Garlic nan bread is a must. Try the Samosa plate as an appetizer. Wine Wednesday get 25% off wine (current as of May 2019). My wife and I order this when we go and have enough leftovers for supper the next day.

Great food but the servers were a little off on timing of meal. The atmosphere was nice but the room is very open so it was a bit noisy.
I will definitely be back for the food.

Great vegetarian food options with excellent service. Ambience is very welcoming and food quality and taste is amazing. I personally loved their dal makhani.

This restaurant among the best visited in City Winnipeg. Very good food, gives you the same taste experienced in restaurants in India. And then it offers you the possibility to book a private area for about thirty people with a view of the baseball field. They have a deck that looks out to the baseball field. I recommend whoever would like to try Punjabi/Indian food and enjoy a baseball game at the same time. Friendly staff!

Food were tasty, our server was helpful and friendly, nice ambiance, no over powering aroma from the kitchen, and we were able to check also through the window the baseball game at Shaw Park. Their starters such as the shrimp and veggie balls are so tasty and quite filling. Parking is free.

I had the pleasure of dining at Clay Oven on the evening of July 18,2023, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The restaurant's unique concept of being located near a baseball diamond, Shaw Park, adds a charming touch to the ambiance. Throughout the establishment, you can enjoy prominent views of the diamond, creating a lively atmosphere. Additionally, they have an outdoor patio that allows you to soak in the vibrant energy of the games being played. The overall design of the venue is modern and well kept, providing a visually pleasing environment. One of the highlights is the convenient parking, as they offer a free-to-use parking lot, making it hassle free to visit.

Maintaining cleanliness is essential, and I was pleased to find that the bathrooms at Clay Oven were well kept and clean. It's always reassuring when a restaurant pays attention to such details.

For the appetizer, I ordered the Vegetarian Samosa Platter. It was a delightful choice. The platter included a wonderful chickpea curry accompanied by two samosas. The taste of the dish was excellent, with the chickpea curry adding a burst of flavour. The only minor complaint I had was that the samosas were stacked, which caused the bottom one to get slightly crushed. However, apart from this small issue, the presentation was great, and the samosas were served piping hot.

For my main course, I opted for the Butter Chicken Thali Platter. This dish provided a perfect introduction to Indian cuisine, as it came with a wide array of sides. The presentation was truly commendable, with the highlight dish placed in the center of the platter and the accompanying sides thoughtfully arranged around it. The taste of the butter chicken was nothing short of incredible, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with my dining experience at Clay Oven, and I can confidently say that I will be returning in the future. The combination of the captivating venue, delicious food, and attention to detail made it a memorable evening. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or simply looking for a delightful dining experience, I highly recommend Clay Oven.

I give this place another try hoping that it’s better but unfortunately the biriany is salty and too saucy.

I have no problem with the food here, it is usually pretty good - when you get the food you ordered. The last 3 times we ordered from here there were problems. The first time they gave us the wrong order and we didn't know until we got home (an hour away). The next two times they simply forgot to make our order - one for a group of 30. Both times they just passed the buck to someone else rather than take responsibility. They also continuously told me it would be ready soon or in just 5 minutes (it took over 45 minutes).

The service was terrible, the waitress brought out the wrong food and never came back. The drink i ordered came out when we were ready to leave. There was a staff member walking around the restaurant picking his nose the entire time I was there and he didn’t wash his hands once.

This the second time sizzler is worst then ever its not even hot or stemming nice part about is that sizzler plate is so cold that a small kid can touch it. I won’t recommend anyone to come here. You can see the photo of sizzler that we had here. Service is getting worst and worst day by day and I paid $17 plus tax for this cold sizzler. Doesn’t make sense to me at all after spending approx $20 for this.

Visited last night with my family, place isn’t clean there was onion peel in the elevator. Food was of low quality, rice with curry were under cooked. Food came with flies too and the restaurant floor was also dirty. Servers were rude, almost behaving as if we were there for some free food.

Placed order for 3 items, got served 2 on time then waited for 30 minutes for the last one, but had to walk out without having third item.

Had the vegetarian Thali, vegetable pakoras, and Vegetable samosas and it was all delicious! The Thali is a huge portion.

The dining experience was smooth. The food here tastes good, at least better than some other restaurants in Winnipeg.

Kinda liked the place. Good food and ambience but two disappointments, expensive food but small servings and they don’t know what chicken rara is. They served chicken kadhai and called it chicken Rara.

Great Indian food. I had a one of their Lamb plate, and it was absolutely delicious.

The only recommended I can make is have an option of not hot. My sister had somewhat hard time as it was somewhat to hot (spicy) for her.

The service was timely and great, it was quite and allowed a good conversation.

It used to be a good place to dine but NOT anymore. Starting the minute you enter the elevator to the tables, the whole place is quite shabby and has an awful stench. We were seated by the windows close to patio and there were some sort of bugs of flies which were biting and causing irritations. Coming the food, we order Hakka and initially it was tasting good only till we realized that the peppers in the food were stale and smelled weird. Overall, not a pleasant experience and would for sure think twice if I ever have to go back here.

Went for dinner today on Father’s Day and it wasn’t that busy we got right in, so that was nice. But we quickly realized that on the hottest day in Winnipeg, the air conditioning isn’t working. We decided to stay anyways because my son is a vegan and they have lots of good choices, and we do love their food but I feel air conditioning is very important and they should’ve tried right away to fix it, also the waitress said it had been down for a couple of days?
We were all very hot and uncomfortable so ate our food fast and left. I will say that our waitress wasn’t the greatest either, maybe she was hot too, but she was very unfocused and had to be asked for everything.
Second Clay Oven in Winnipeg that I’m not happy with so maybe the answer is TAKEOUT!

Horrible service!
We go there very often with families and friends. Never had this kind of an experience.
We went for dinner at 8: 40 pm and server came to the table and without a hi or hello, no introduction, didnt had any smile on face, didnt even asked a single thing nicely.
Only thing she said is what would you like to have?
I said we will start with the appetizer and she said promptly that kitchen is closing soon we have to order food now with the appetizer and she can bring it all together.
I said to her ok no problem then, we will order food straight, and as i ordered the food, i said we will all start with 4 naan and then we will
Reorder if required.

I stil saif how do i know how much i can eat and how much to order and she estimated 6 nanns qould be enough for us. How can a server tell us how much can qe eat or not?

Great Indian food and amazing ambience. Tip: if you like really spice food, let them know to make it extra spicy. Tried the chef's deluxe biryani, it was amazing!
Was in a prawn mood so tried the lemon chilli prawns. The prawns were very soft and good but the dish itself wasn't exceptionally good, I'd suggest take kebabs instead for appetizers.

If you don't/can't have gluten, Indian food is the best way to go. My boyfriend has a gluten allergy and his eyes lit up on seeing the menu because there was practically nothing that had gluten. And even in the roti/naan (bread) options there was a gluten free bread. Did not try it this time. Will definitely update this on giving it a shot.

Visited for the time and very much disappointed. Rude and arrogant service and refused to give a table because they had one with “too many seats” and it was just two of us. Like what the hell. Never visiting again!

I really used to thought that there would be no other place like this in winnipeg until i got chance to have dinner from here. Yesterday i ordered food for my whole family and i paid 193 dollars to them, i picked food from them, after coming to home when i opened bags, i just got the third portion of my food. I just got boiled rice, mango shakes and plain naans. They just ruined my whole Diwali and made me embarrass infront of whole family and other people who came for dinner. Last night I had worst experience of my life so far.

Good Food, friendly staff. We ordered channa bhatura portion of channa was really less to eat two bhaturas with. It was only half of the sectional plate bowl.

Staff and service was very gud but restaurant owner’s behaviour was very bad. He was staring every customer in bad way which I didn’t like.

I visit this place yesterday. Food was good but the person named Rajinder is really rude. The way he stared and spoke was ridiculous.

I went there recently for a birthday party. There service is really great. They gave us some food as complimentary and we had such a good time there. It’s a great place for family, friends and groups. Definitely recommend it to everyone and I love to visit here oftentimes

Little late for this review but being 101% honest. Customer service doesn’t exist at this place, I’m so much disgusted on how I was treated at this place. Went to the restaurant around 2ish and that’s mid day and literally no one was there, also there was some celebrity table there and other than that there was no other person in the restaurant. Ordered food and soda, well soda was flat and literally tasteless. Also we ordered two full meals and received one tissue paper to work with, knowing Indian food needs pile of tissues. Anyways, food was below average and the service was well mehhh. I had to walk from my table to where reception is to grab some tissues and it was pretty much ‘no one cares’ attitude at that place. Oh wait forgot to mention amount of flies and mosquitoes hang with you when you eating your food.

I will never ever go to this place again and I advise same to my family and friends.

I do not want to give even *. I ordered mango mint drint.it was cheap mango juice nothing else.me and my family just wanted to seat out side they told us it would be $5 per person.food was very hot and waited for more then 1.5 hr.

Went there since we love the Clay Oven on Kenaston so much, we decided to give this place a try. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to have a meal overlooking the ball park. Sad to say only thing that was good about this place was the view of Shaw Park.

We ordered the Vegetarian Samosa platter, 2 Garlic Mozza Naan, Navratan Korma, and Goat Curry.

There were 7 tables in total including us on the patio (with an event being set up inside), and one server working the entire patio by herself. Server was friendly, but understandably she was swamped, due to this, service was very slow.

When the appetizer arrived, we took one bite and noticed it was not hot or warm at all, so after waiting for the server to come tend to the next table (about 10 mins later), we pointed it out and she said she would replace it. When she brought it back, it was hotter, and we ate it with no issues.

After waiting at least 20 mins for our entrees, the Korma and Goat Curry arrived with the Naan. We each dished it out over a bed of rice, and started to eat it with the naan. About 5-6 bites into her food, my girlfriend said "Uh. There's a hair in this". She didn't want to touch it, so I pulled it out, and it was a long black hair lodged in the mixture of rice and Korma/Curry (we weren't sure where it came from). At this point, we lost all of our appetite and waited for the server to come by (which took another good 10 minutes).

We told her what we found, and we told her we were done eating because we were grossed out. She said she will talk to the kitchen to make us a new one so we can take it home. We said we don't want it, as at this point we were just done with the whole experience. After sitting there without the server coming by again, we went out to the front desk to settle up and leave. (To be honest I was only expecting to be charged for the Samosa platter.) At this point our server brought a takeout bag of Korma. I told her I didn't want it, and I would like to see my bill.

The bill had the full order charged, without anything taken off. I pointed out that only thing we finished was the samosas, and that I told them I didn't want the Korma or the Curry as I wasn't confident that the problem would be fixed. She went to talk to the manager, and the manager came to the front seemingly upset at us for some reason that we didn't want to pay for dishes we didn't finish due to their mistake.

At the end she still charged us for the 2 orders of Naan (which we only ate 2 out of 8 pieces before finding the hair), plus the samosa platter (which I was happy to pay for). I didn't want to further argue, so we paid and left.

If I were the manager, I would be embarrassed (not angry at the customer) that there were multiple issues, and at least not charge any portion of the meal that was not eaten fully, and not make it seem like there's something wrong with the customers being grossed out by finding long curly hairs in their food and not wanting to pay for it.

I've never had issues and had great meals at the Kenaston location. I will not be returning to Clay Oven at Shaw Park, and will advise my friends and family to do the same.

I havent had a lot of indian foods but i like the mix grilled chicken and grilled salmon here. I give them 4 because the balcony was not so clean although the indoor dining section was in very good condition

5 star accommodations every visit! The food is always served hot and fresh to order. If they happen to bring out the wrong dish the service staff is keen to ensure you have what you want. Most times we'll before you even know there was an issue. Everything is delivered with an exciting plate presentation.

The worst quality food again. The same sweet taste for hot or extra hot food. The reason they gave me is that they have pre-made gravy and they cant make any changes in the taste of gravy. This is the worst. They are freezing their gravy and pull out a day before so they can do prep. So they cant do anything at all. I ordered Paneer Labab Dar both the times and i got my ordered veg with same colour and same sweet taste. They just dont understand the meaning of hot or extra hot food. Another worst experience was that i ordered food for my mother-in-law that is supposed to be without onion and garlic. So the server said the Samosas come with onion/garlic. So i said can i get the Papri Chat instead? She said yes. And she brought us Samosas and Papri Chat and told me that i didnt said No for Samosas. So can someone please tell them that INSTEAD itself means cancel the Samosas and please bring us Papri Chat. I will never go back to Clay Oven again and wont recommend anyone to go there. I am better off with Ivory and Cilantro's Restaurant instead.

Very nice place, food is hygenic and tastes truly Indian.
The services given at table needs improvements, and all items should be served hot, not prepared earlier or lying at chef counter and we are just waiting for it.else all good, would definitely visit again.

Could have given -5 if it was allowed.asked for a paneer sizzler and got big slices of paneer which is not even paneer tikka properly.no mint sauce was provided. Called back to ask for the chutney they said they forgot it and they can only apologise. I asked for calling the owner/manager they said he is not available and will give me a call back. Its been two days and not even a single text. I work as a store manger for a big US pizza company and we never treat our customers like this. Shame
The rotis were rubber too.

Flavour of the food is always spot-on the in restaurant service is satisfactory and the timelines for pickup orders are pretty accurate. Would have a 5-star review but out of the years I have been going there I have had one or two less-than-ideal experiences

Very unprofessional staff and poor food quality.we had family dinner and found worst experience in the winnipeg.

We usually go for family dinner each month and this month we tried here and totally disappointed.

Very disappointing. We visited there a month ago. The girl on the reception was very unprofessional and rude. The quantity of food was way too less according to price. They didnt even bother to ask again if we needed something or not. The taste was just okay. After finishing our dinner, we were still discussing something and the girl came and asked us to pass on the dishes and started cleaning our table as if she was asking us to leave indirectly. The whole experience was horrible. Will never ever go back again. Not even worth for 1 star.

I ordered BUTTER CHICKEN today, the taste was like a tomato purrie and it was soo sweet.even we didn’t eat it as it wasn’t look like a butter chicken it was just a sauce with no ingredients. It was a wastage of $24 today.baddd

Never had a bad meal at any of their locations, even delivered they are always fresh and hot. My favorites are the chicken korma and mozzarella naan, all meals are priced really fairly and I usually have leftovers for 1-2 meals.

Prices are a little high for the quantity you get but the quality of food is top notch, would highly recommend for quality east indian food

Went there early this week (Monday), and got so sick, threw up 11 times, (family doctor / uncle) confirmed it's food poisoning.
Second time I go there and someone gets food poisoning. Never going to that location ever again.

Booked a table for 8 on a Friday. Upon arrival, my Jewish guests refused to enter a place with the name 'Oven' in the title. Not sure why. We got take out and it was pretty good. Made it up to them by putting on my DVD of Fiddler on the Roof with dinner. Good times.oy vey!

Clay Oven at Shaw park lost its charm a long time ago. My family had just moved here and our dad was visiting us and I wanted to take them all out to a nice place with Indian food. Well, when we called ahead of time, they said their last order was at 9: 45. We reached at 8: 30 and the person at the front door was extremely rude and the first thing he says is “we don’t have time to serve you all. ” When we told him we had called, he said “that doesn’t matter, you all can only order in the next 15 minutes. ” After going back and forth, he finally seated us. And after that, 3 families came in around 9: 15-9: 20 but he was smiling and happily seating them. It was extremely infuriating because he disrespected the s**t out of my dad. Terrible service. All their food seems to be cooked in tomato ketchup lately.

Last night I went with my family to celebrate my wife's birthday, but I have to say our occasion was spoiled by such has long waiting time, We ordered our food at 8: 45 and got it severed by 9: 30, moreover food was not at all tasty, even though we asked for hot spicy, it was not it mild spicy. Over and above breads were burned we didn't even eat those, over all when somebody spent such large amount ($120) and that too on special occasion they are suppose to get a quality service. Definitely not going back there.

Waited almost 50 mins, just for an order of 2 regular items. Requested for spicy food but it was bland. Nan bread was over burnt.

It was our worst experience with this restaurant. They should change there from clay oven to chickpeas restaurant. We ordered 2 snacks and 2 main coarse and all had same chickpea vegetable in it.

The food is awesome there plus the price is very decent except the service. We asked for water couple times, the waitress didn’t take the extra dirty plates off our table so we had very limited space while we are having the food.

We took a co-worker to Clay Oven for her birthday. There were 14 of us. The staff were amazing and the food was delicious!

Manager sourubh was really rude and our order was also not taken Right.he was literally staring at us while we were finishing up our food.we felt really uncomfortable and his attitude spoiled my friends birthday party. Never come here for your birthday party.

If I get the chance to give a star i will give them BIG ZERO. I and my friends visit to clay oven at shaw park. We have a cake which is peanut free and he refuse to enter the cake because he told me that if the cake is from certain shop, then you can bring it in, otherwise they don't allow us to enter the cake. I think that's pretty rude of them. Cleanliness of the store is also worse.

Enjoyable, we had takeout dinner for 6 and all dishes were very good. We got a lot of rice with our order which was on time.

First timer here, food was amazing! Timing was a bit slow, but they also had a larger group. Pleasant experience, beautiful decore and view or the forks bridge.

For the most part the flavours and tastes here are great. On this particular day the food was good however the rice smelled stale/old like it was going bad but the waitress was kind enough to get us a fresh batch.

This is the worst place I have ever been to. Made a reservation for my family and I a week before and upon going there on the day of my reservation I found that there was birthday party going on. The workers are very unprofessional and management of course only cares about the money and disregarding the reservations made. Don't recommend going to this place it is a complete garbage.

I love Clay Oven for East Indian cuisine! The restaurant itself is very beautiful and you get a nice view of downtown Winnipeg. My favourite items from their menu are the samosas, chicken thali platter & mozzarella naan. The menu items are decently priced and I always leave feeling happy and full.:)

Staff who was at counter was very rude.
I felt very bad & insulted the way I was confronted by the said staff! Even his senior colleague who was witness to this incident, she did not come forward to apologise on behalf of her junior misbehaving staff.

An amazing place with an amazing quality of food. Usually packed but regardless, the service is on point. A bit on the expensive side given the classy look of the restaurant.
All in all, worth the experience. Really enjoyed both the food and the service.

Ordered the Navratam Korma. Taste was fine but the online picture had chunks of paneer when mine came with it mashed in the sauce and completely unnoticeable. Definitely would not have ordered it had I known as it basically seemed like frozen veggies in sauce. The kofta I ordered was 80% sauce with very few of the dumplings.which were mostly breading. Again tasted okay, but way overpriced and not as expected. Nice that rice was included.

I wouldn't go again.
