Dreamland Diner

My family enjoyed our time at this restaurant! We all had wonderful milkshakes, we highly recommend chocolate/banana, peach or rootbeer! Service was great. Food came out hot. Our tables were clean. Clean washrooms. High chair for our little one. Fair prices and yummy food. Excited to go back!

First time coming here. Nice place. Friendly staff. Food was good, milkshakes.absolutely amazing.

It's a neat concept but very disappointing. We waited a long time for a table despite seeing tables available. Also, waited to order, and took a long time for our order to arrive and both meals were cold (we ordered burgers and fries, not ice cream). The desserts sounded good but couldn't be bothered to wait any longer or spend any more money there. The staff was apologetic and the place was busy. Management/owners need to work on staffing. I don't live close by so it's not worth the drive for poor service and cold food.

The first visit was amazing. Food was great, milkshakes were excellent. So we decided to return last night and it was not at all a good experience. The food was bad. The burger meat was dry. Tomatoes were soggy. The grilled cheese sandwich was burnt on the outside. The milkshakes were not good. They were watery. Two servers asked how the food was and I shared the above and I was met with excuses as to why I was wrong about the food. Why even ask what was wrong if you don't want an answer? Probably won't return. I brought my mom here who was in from out of town saying how great it was and it was such a let down. Extra star because of the first visit.

Kaylee was so patient and sweet when my friend and I were ordering. It was our first time so we had a lot to look at and they were lovely answering questions for us and giving suggestions! When we got our food it was delicious and hot and flavourful while staying simple. The marshmallow shake was amazing! We will be back!

I wish I could say the food was good, but we couldn’t even get service. We went today at 3: 45pm. There were a bunch of staff standing by the ice cream, nobody acknowledged us. Tables were dirty. We stood at the front waiting to be acknowledged as we weren’t sure if we sat ourselves or not. No acknowledgment we finally searched for a semi-clean table and sat down. Waited, nothing, we finally got up and left without even getting a hello. There were at least 6 staff standing around, I don’t understand how everything was dirty and we couldn’t get service. We left with a very disappointed 6 year old.

One of the few remaining good old fashioned restaurants remaining in this country. Nice to see some delicious food from a business that's not a franchise. People should support this place!

Good location. Sufficient parking spots available by the restaurant and on the street. I guess they recently opened coz I went to this place before with different business name. Customer service is good. Stuff was good. Washrooms are In the basement if you are curious. 50 or 60s theme. Price is reasonable but only problem is that you have to have exact cash or use debit or credit card.

Cool vibe, nice staff, terrible overpriced frozen food. Waited a VERY long time for soggy cold boiled hotdogs and cold frozen fries. The “poutine” uses shredded marble cheese not cheese curds! Any Canadian restaurant should know better. Seriously everything was just frozen grocery store food warmed up. If they don’t want to make real food than just do ice cream. No restaurant ever lasts in this location, and despite the fun atmosphere I expect this one will not be any different. I really wanted to like this place.

Really wanted to like this place, but outside of the atmosphere there isn't much to write home about. There are better burgers and ice cream incredibly close by.

Will give them a try again in the future, but will have to be quite a bit different.

A fun place to go in the St. James area! Our party was greeted with smiling staff, who were very helpful navigating the menu. The atmosphere was exciting, transporting the guest right back to the 50's. In terms of food, the Dream Dogs were creative. Notably, the pickle dog. Not only did the hot dog have pickles, but it also had deep fried pickles and honey dill smothered on top. I was pleasantly surprised. The prices of the items were a little on the high side but considering inflation, it made sense. Will definitely be returning.

Took my son for lunch. Got there early, waited outside in line. Grabbed the first table we saw (thankfully) and then realized we had to wait in another line to order food. No one is monitoring the door, so the place was packed full of people and it wasn't great having people shoulder to shoulder or standing beside your table during your entire lunch. The food was underwhelming. The one staff member was very nice, but mentioned to me she was the only one there besides cooks and I could feel her frustration. As we were about 3/4 done our lunch, a random lady came to our table and asked us if we were leaving. I said yes when really I should have said in a few minutes because we were still eating. Anyway, before I could get the remainder of food or jackets she was trying to sit at our table with her crew. I ate the rest of my food in my car. It was such a disappointment. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, but gave two stars for 50s decor and nice cashier.

Incredible 50’s diner with amazing vibe, food, atmosphere and of course the ice cream and milkshakes. Kids had a blast and loved all the cool props, colourful 50’s theme and dancing to the music.
Even though it was so busy, the staff were incredible, minimal wait time, food was served in a timely manner, overall very organized and well run.
We had a fantastic experience with our kids and we will definitely be back! Definitely recommend it!

Went for dinner with grandkids and their parents. Decor is amazing and well done but food a big no. You stand up counter order from a wall menu that is only visible from about 3 tables. No burgers available which was disappointing. Hot dogs were cold dogs, perogies looked good and everyone agreed they had a weird taste, kids Mac was KD, condiments are self serve and awkward to manage. The chicken fingers and poutine were declared delicious. Ice cream products were not sampled. It was a zoo in there. It’s fun to go somewhere new but we won’t be back as the food was sub par and expensive for something of this low quality. Staff are doing their best but the menu and food is awful.

Amazing experience! We bombarded them with a large party and all the staff went above and beyond to make it a great experience. The food was DELICIOUS and the people were even better. 10/10.5 stars. Great experience there today!

Food is not good. Smoky hotdog is not even so-so. Very disappointed. Shakes are okay but you can get a better one somewhere.

Went for a little date night and got the chicken tenders, poutine and perogies. Food wasn't bad but also not stand out but we enjoyed it and got what we expected! Service quality was fine to us! Great atmosphere. Didn't try the desserts but looked amazing! Seems like a nice family outing!

Absolutely LOVE the old 50's diner vibe! It's a great place for a good ol' fashion milkshake made with REAL ingredients! Definitely our new go to Ice Cream spot!

Great Idea for a restaurant but The Main Course idea of the Restaurant is Hot Dogs but after a short wait The Hotdogs and Fries were cold but the Onionrings were warmer but still not Hot! The Milkshake and Malt were Really Good but came separate from the Food! For what we got, it was a bit Pricey, but would have been acceptable if the food was hot instead of room temp other than the onion rings that were warmer then the fries and Hotdogs but not hot like it should have been!

Update: Went again today and had the Funnel Cake fries which were pretty good! The hot dog was fine - no better or worse than elsewhere and the milkshake was good. Also, just wanted to add that the staff are great here - and one in particular was really considerate to our daughter who was not wanting to put on her jacket upon leaving - even offering an ice-cream so she wouldn't cry! That alone is pushing my review from a 4 to a 5.

The good:
> The atmosphere is great - they did a good job of recreating the 50s diner nostalgia.
> The food arrived pretty quickly.
> Music/dance room for kids is a fun idea - our daughter loved it.

Things that could improve:
> Some of the food was 'meh' for the price - the pierogi weren't very good and too expensive for what was received.
> I'm pretty sure the fries were of the frozen variety - but were at least decent.
> Music was a little loud but that's subjective.
>They need some menu refinement. There needs to be something, or a few things, that make this place a must-visit diner. Atmosphere alone won't win the day.

Overall, it was a nice place to go as a family and we'll go back again to try their ice-cream.

Great looking diner. Food wasn't that good but expensive. The best One was the Milkshake. Lady at the order desk was stressed. Tables been dirty and we have to ask twice untill somebody showed up to clean them. Music way to loud.

Really unfortunate to see some impatient reviews here. Had a fantastic experience here, great milkshake, great vibes, great service!

The only reason I'm giving 1 star is cause of the service. The girls there were super friendly and fun. The food was garbage. It's warmed up food. Pogo corn dogs and microwaved Costco hotdogs. This is not a diner. It is a ice cream shop. That has microwaves. Four of us went and four of us felt sick after. I would not recommend this place. Way cooler and better ice cream shops out there.

It’s great for desserts and for a nice place to go for a small treat, they need a bigger food menu.they only serve hotdogs and fries and then a whole lot of treats

Was so looking forward to this place. Couldn't wait to have a juicy hamburger. Well guess what! NO HAMBURERS! What 50's Diner or any diner has no hamburgers on their menu? So I had to settle for a Costco hotdog and Mccain fries. Because that's what it was! Food was terrible! $85 for 4 people. I just want to punch myself in the face right now!
