Dwarf no Cachette Café & Gift

Food was sooooo good. My son and me went for Onigiri it was huge and delicious. Favorite was the tempura shrimp. Thanks for the great experience.

Tried some ramen and karaage and a bit disappointed. Still good but I was expecting more as the reviews I read were great. Will return to give it another go! I love the location though!

Generous portion sizes, excellent food (The Karaage Chicken Okonomiyaki Hiroshima in particular!), and overall great place to sit down and have an authentic Japanese meal.

Will definitely be going back!

I asked a co-worker John, what's your favorite restraunt, he told me about the Dwarf no Cachette.

I went tonight. Its a happening spot. Awesome atomsphere, cool patrons. Really great service.
Food started with 10/10 perfect chicken katsu. Wow the fry was right! Crispy and a generous serving
Partner ordered sabu noodles, good dish.

I however didn't know my way around the menu, and ordered the curry beef with rice. Ahhhh.it was not what i expected. It was made with ground beef, and i imagine it was in a hot kitchen pot for a long time. It was mushy in a bad way. The presentation wasn't helping, if it was in a bowl it would look much better. I love thai curry and esp east indian curry. Japanese style curry tasted to me like star anise. My partner however did note the curry flavor. I expected beef slices with a curry sauce, my bad.

I cannot fault the restraunt however, the wonderful server seemed to understand the issue (i didn't complain but i didn't eat it) and she took it off the bill. Super cool, i would go back and try more dishes, next time i will read the reviews about whats good, and not order a random dish with no picture lol.

We went during burger week, they have one vegan burger; "The Jupiter Burger ". Very nice. The buns don't have any flavour but it's kind of a nice balance with the sauce they put on it.

The food was really good. Lots of vegetarian choices. Nice atmosphere. The portions were nice and the service was awesome

Food was good. Their friend chicken dishes are all very good. Some are very plane, with just chicken, rice, and green onion, so read the menu carefully or order a side of veggies and sauces as desired.

The food was super delicious with generous portions and was very filling, my partner and I went there for out 1 year anniversary and it was super great:) the gift shop was also super cute and nice to visit after eating! The only thing I was sad about was us forgetting our takeout containers/leftovers on the counter cuz it was so tasty and we wanted to finish it plus it costed alot

Absolute gem of Winnipeg. Quite a varied menu of Japanese dishes anywhere from ramen, don buri, curry rice, yakisoba and the gamut of appetizers. The food portions were on the more plentiful side. The service was so pleasant and the cute decor really enhanced the experience.

Underrated gem in this city! The cold soba was comparable to soba I had earlier this year in Kyoto, Japan. Yum!

One of the few Japanese restaurants in the city that's not serving just sushi. In fact, I don't think they serve sushi at all.

Been ordering take out here for years and food has always been consistent. We decided dine in for the first time in a while. The food was even better fresh and the service was great.

The interior is very cute and eclectic. They had a store upstairs selling cute Japanese accessories and knickknacks. Not sure if they still have that though.

They have a fairly large menu with lots of option. I recommend the Donburis and Okonomiyakis. The portion is pretty big for the price.

I visited this restaurant by a recommendation for Japanese Izakaya food. There were about 10 of us and was pleasantly surprised that they had room when we showed up at around 6-7pm. I made sure to call beforehand though just in case.

It's a cute and quirky little restaurant featuring gnomes and dwarf decor arrangements. It was cozy inside and on the top floor, there was a local gift shop. The shop sold cute little knick-knacks from handmade jewelry, pins, to anime buttons and stickers.

[SERVICE]
The service was pretty good for having to deal with all 10 of us and we didn't have to wait too long to get seated. The only downfall was that one of the drinks we ordered didn't quite match up to the description of the menu on their website we ordered from. Some of the food items or specials on the website were not on the menu either but were still available to order.

[FOOD]
What we were intentionally drawn with by choosing to eat at this restaurant were the playful drinks. The Zelda themed drinks were fun and we would have no idea about these drinks if not for checking the website.

Onigiri Combo (Takoyaki) - 3 choices of onigiri which I chose 1.tuna mayo, 2.karage, 3.shrimp tempura and it came with a miso soup and 6 pieces of regular takoyaki. The onigiris were HUGE and I ended up only being able to finish one and taking the rest home to go. The takoyaki came out with floating pieces of the bonito flakes waving in the air, as expected. The miso soup was very rich in flavor and I don't think I ever had sesame in miso soup before.

Milkshake Shingen-mochi with Black Sugar Syrup - This drink is very delicious and sweet with the black sugar syrup and chewy mochis.

Master Sword - Cold sake, Calpico, and club soda mix with a master sword iced jelly. The master sword jelly gets floppy pretty quickly when left out too long, so it's best to take the pics quick and then stir the drink with the master sword.

Hearty Elixir - Peach Redbull and red coloring. It's a tangy and pretty refreshing drink for the summer.

Blue Jelly Sake Soda - I found the blue jelly was fun to stir around in my drink, but the blue jelly itself tasted pretty bland and not that great with the sake. It's nice for photos only.

Apple Popping Boba Sake - This was an alright tasting drink and it only made it better with the popping bobas! The light hitting the bobas made the drink look radioactive and was fun to take pics of.

I would go here again just to try their other dishes. Everything looked and sounded so good, we all had trouble choosing what to get!

Yakisoba noodles were tasteless with very few vegetables & no sesame seed. Long wait for food and high prices, not worth it!

Had a wax paper in my ramen. Told the server, he took the bowl and came back 5 mins later acting like they made a new bowl for me. But he actually came back with SAME SOUP (cold), SAME BOWL. They just removed the wax paper and gave it back to me. When I confronted the server, he just shook his head and said sorry and walked way.he didn't even bother to take it back or anything.

Wanted a bit of a casual cozy intimate dinner with family and to try something new. I've heard nothing but great things about this place from local Japanese food enthusiast in the community. It was a must try!

Portions were huge! Felt like a dwarf by comparison to the delicious amounts we received. Plenty to share! The ramen was amazing, delicious pork belly that just melt in your mouth. My Lord. SUGOI! I've been eyeing their menu for 2 years and never got around to it. I wanted to have the Black Emperor Jelkshake as a treat for myself after my daughter was born. Didn't get around to it in the 2021 year, but when I finally did - wow, that sesame. Sweet, smooth, such a delight! Worth the wait!

Don't like parking on the street? They've got parking in the back! My family seemed to enjoy the food. So many wonderful options! They do have a high chair for those who have little ones like I do. She enjoyed the corquette and a bit of my yakisoba. My cousin and I were the slightest bit disappointed with not having the stuff we saw on instagram since they were old specials. As weebs, we wanted our tastebuds to delve in the world of what our favorite Japanese animated characters had through food. Overall, the food wasn't disappointing at all! However, we would like encourage the restaurant to have special days when you can dish out meals you see from Studio Ghibli, One Piece, Sailor Moon, and Naruto - just to name a few for the large anime loving community we have here in Winnipeg! Omurice, please! Haha or make a Tiktok highlighting the food you already have on the menu that our beloved characters enjoy on screen.

I ordered bubble tea and sailormoon drink through uber, and i didnt receive it!
Waste of money!

I like it and feel safe that the servers wear mask. But the place needs a face lift. The dining area and the washrooms are outdated.

The ramen was good but lukewarm and a bit too salty for my taste. The staff were pleasant but service was slow.

I just tried the Udon and chicken rice ball with some deserts for the first time. The food arrived on time. However, the food quality was so bad, I cant eat both Udon and rice ball since it too salty. I love Udon and know that its flavor usually a bit salty but this is just too salty, its like the broth was making pure soy sauce. My milk shake taste somewhat okay. Just order because I was so busy and cant cook myself today but I ended up starving since i cant eat the food and my break was ended. Definitely dont recommend and wont come back anymore

Disappointed because I ordered from them through DoorDash and it took an hour to let me know they had cancelled my order, by which point most other places of the same type had closed. Not sure what the issue was.
