Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que

Hubby and I were there about a week ago and we absolutely loved everything about it! I am disabled (use a walker so it is hard for me to get around). The staff was wonderful and they had a handicap bathroom was really great! We will definitely return!

Decided to go to @Famousdaveswpg after golf. Sadly we left without eating. Terrible customer service. We enter and no host at the front. We had to wait for good 5 minutes until someone assist us. Didn't bother explaining the menu. Didn't even asked what drinks we want. For xxgood 15 minutes we didn't get any service at all. We've waited for so long, the guy who seated us just keeps passing by and no one's taking our order so we decided to leave.

This visit was a mixed bag. The service was great, and the food came out in a timely manner but the food quality was mixed. The brisket was bone dry, as were my rib ends. As if they were leftovers from the night before. This was at lunch time so I don't know if this is common place for lunch. We had to send back wings as well as they were stale. Mac and cheese tasted like overcooked kraft dinner and was inedible. Fries were ok, corn was ok, corn bread muffin was the only thing that was moist and tasty. Sausage tasted like costco bulk sausage. I'm curious to try it again at dinner time as the flavours are there, the meat was just criminally dry.

The service is great! One of the best brisket and ribs I had in Winnipeg. Totally worth it and will come back again.

I requested a quote back in March for my upcoming wedding in July. I had contacted Meghan on multiple occasions with the promise of a quote and received no said quote.
Needless to say I have now gone with Danny's whole hog as they gave me a quote the same day I reached out.
I contemplated writing this review as we love going to dinner at famous daves but I feel the owner should know he is losing business over lack of communication.
I remember one manager from a few years back now i havnt seen her since everything reopened after covid. I can't remember her name she had dark brown hair and tattoos. She was an amazing person to deal with any problems we had she was kind and caring. Always checking in on every table making sure her guests had everything they needed.

Ordered two burgers with fries and an order of boneless wings. Simple request right? QUITE POSSIBLY THE WORST FOOD WE HAVE EVER HAD. The burgers were cold and greasy. The fries NEVER CAME. And the boneless wings were burnt and resembled little bits of coal that had been sitting under a heat lamp for days. My husband and I got physically ill after this “meal”. This restaurant used to be awesome and a family favourite…. But no more. Not sure what has changed in the past couple years but I urge you all to go elsewhere. Save your money and you stomach.

Took my dad here for his birthday. First bad sign: they only looked at our vaccine QR codes, didn't scan them to confirm, nor did they check ID. Then our server took our order and told us of a large table that could possibly delay our order. Considering the rest of the restaurant was empty, we figured it would only take a little while longer than usual. We ended up waiting an hour before our food arrived, which was the only time we saw our server after she took our order. She did the obligatory meal check after she dropped off the food, but then she decided to give us our bill and brought the debit machine while my mother was still eating. That left a bad taste in my mouth and I couldn't wait to get out of there as I was so annoyed.

Then as we were getting up to leave, I sea and hear our server offer the table beside us a comped meal because it was one person's birthday, and the rest of the table got a discount on their meal because of the wait. Considering the fact that they got there after us, and got their meals right after we did, it got me angry to the point where I just wanted to leave before I started yelling and making a scene.

As for the food, the ribs were tough and warm (not hot), and the chicken and brisket was dried out. The sides were ok though, nothing amazing. A disappointing night pretty much from start to finish. I doubt I'll ever come back here again willingly.

Don't eat their brisket cheerier than a leather belt. Took over a hour to get your meal only thing was good was their fires. Server was giving us the bill and take out box before we were finished your food

Both service and food were so so I would say 2.5 stars out of 5 but I'll give you 3 in hopes of improving

We ordered from take out yesterday Saturday Nov 27 it was $132.00. The beef brisket is uneaten because it was so tough, cut so thick it was like chewing rubber. We purchased an extra lbs of the brisket because it has been a favourite of everybody. We don’t live near Winnipeg so it’s not something we can easily take back. But it sure ruined our family meal. Everything else was ok except for the brisket. When it was reheated it was places in the oven for 15 mins covered in the tin foil tray it came with. Very disappointed famous Daves.

We ordered this evening and thought there would be a long wait because of the bad weather but it was surprisingly fast delivery. The food was hot and fresh and oh so delicious! Famous Dave’s never lets us down on offering a protein rich meal. Yum!

Food was good but portion sizes leave a lot to be desired. Price was way too high for the small sound of food I got. The size of the sides was a joke as well.

Ordered pick up. Gosh. Burnt ends dry. Wings below average. Chopped pork sandwich disappointing. Cole slaw was good. All in all we expected more for 60 $. Maybe because I cook pork butt in instant pot that’s so juicy and tasty I was hoping for a better than I can cook restaurant experience. Haven’t been inside a restaurant since March 2020 so: (maybe we should have ordered ribs.iDK. I do find pick up meals in general don’t live up to eating a fresh meal in a restaurant. Sorry Dave. I wanted to love this Saturday night treat.

A bit undercooked and over priced. I have had famous Dave's before in Minneapolis, however, the one here in Winnipeg is not the same. Portion sizes are smaller, the price is higher, and the quality while ok, is not stellar. The staff are friendly and professional enough though.

Ribs were delicious, sides were kinda meh.if you look at the photo they dont even fill up the already small containers. Thats a teaspoon in the beans container btw. Lol guess they hurting from covid or running out of food.

Worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Their fries are wedges eww and very small portions and luke warm burgers and tasteless will never step foot in about Famous Daves

We went to celebrate our anniversary and my wife's parents anniversary. First time eating at a restaurant in a long time. It was not a good choice. None of us could chew through the brisket and chicken was very dry. Small portions overall. Will not be returning.

Good place. Great service albeit a bit slow. The brisket was good but not the best i had. The desert was delicious.

The food was only okay considering the higher cost per plate. Flavors were very good! However, our food was cold. Could be because we were a larger group. It gets very loud with everyone talking. I will give another try as a date night place to see if any changes.

We never had a bad experience ordering from here. It's the only place we order BBQ from when we're in the mood for some take out BBQ.

Our waitress was one of the worst waitresses I’ve ever encountered. She was friendly AT ALL in the beginning until I got upset about why it took 30 mins to get our Pepsi’s and 47 minutes to get our food. We never did get our appetizers. She tried to bring it to us AFTER our food finally arrived. Just a foot note there was only 3 other tables at the time that we were there. My son who had an upset stomach had to ask our waitress THREE times where the bathroom was. My daughters food was cold. NEVER gonna go back there again!

Love the take out option they have! Quick and easy! Food was packed properly and was still fresh and hot when we got home! Food is always good!

Ordered ribs for my Birthday Supper, Ribs shouldn't be stringy and fall of the bone, This was Dry, tough and Chewy everything I wouldn't want in ribs. So I tried the Chicken, Great sauces, but again dry and stringy, overcooked bigtime. I wonder what kind of awards would like this. I can't recommend.

The food was amazing. I liked how all the meat was soft and that there is different flavors bbq sauce. I've been there twice and got to try many different types of meats. Everything was cooked to perfection.

Very good, once again! But, the place forgot to put in the table setting items, the ones I ordered from Skip.

Update: Management was quick to respond and appreciated my feedback. I wasn't expecting anything but they happily replaced my meal for me! Thank you!

Usually Dave's is really good. I've only really like sitting in but thanks to covid everything has to be taken out. Last night's take out was pretty disappointing. I always get the same half dry/half sauce ribs with 2 sides. Apparently this little strip of pineapple is considered a side and it was put in the same container as the bbq chips making them all so soggy they couldn't be eaten. My dry rub ribs were also so burnt that I couldn't eat them either. It was like biting into a really big crouton.so for my share of an 80 dollar meal, I could only eat the half rack of sauce ribs.

Order the famous feast.im a regular customer of bule haze bbq in beausejour mb so I have high standards for bbq.bule haze is 10/10 pit Master is the best.famous Dave's 6/10.

Horrible.

I ordered the two meat combo and the brisket wasn't juicy, didn't have a smokey flavor I expected, it had to constantly be dipped in BBQ sauce provided to make it palatable.

Also the rib tips were DRY, like the dryest rib tips I have EVER eaten at a restaurant and it was really chewy, zero tenderness. And I wasn't surprised after I asked the waitress when they were made and she said in the morning my God. Store bought ribs are more tender, how is that possible?

Very dissapointing experience, I thought I was paying top dollar for the American BBQ Experience but this has to be the biggest insult to BBQ.

We enjoyed our visit.our server meghan was very nice and polite.however we sat in a booth and had lots of cold air blowing on us.when our food came it was fast and tasted great however it was luke warm and as we were eating it it cooled down to ice cold really fast probably due to the fact that it wasn't hot qhen we got it and the cold draft did not help.for the amount of money we paid we probably wouldn't come back based on this

The best ribs in Winnipeg. Period. Everything else is meh. But those ribs are worth the drive, so good.
Edit: had lunch at famous Dave’s and really likes the French fries. They were crunchy and addictive. We got the ribs since they are a favorite. They were really fatty but still the best and only ribs we would buy. At a restaurant. The Mac and cheese was improved and actually good. The service was basic, use to be amazing. Overall excellent food, the side were actually good this visit.

Went for dinner and the service was wonderful.the ribs were a touch too salty for us, but overall it was a great experience.servers took care of us, safely and we felt that the restaurant was clean and upkept well with sanitizing, etc.

Ordered a feast, barbecue was dry and meat was very hard to eat. Only allowed 4 dipping sauce for 90 dollar s worth of barbecue. So they sell you dry meat and they limit you to 4 dipping sauce to try to deal with dry meat issue.

First time being here. Unfortunately due to pandemic restrictions, I was not able to sit and enjoy. I did however love the pulled chicken sandwich along with their chips and the BBQ sauce. Will be back as I'm already craving it again.

It was meh, the 'famous fries' are just any other fry. They used to be little wedges but guess not anymore. (gotta save money amiriteguiz?) I got wings and asked if I could have most if not all flats, can't stand drumlettes.says he'll ask the cooks about it. I get 3 flats 9 drums and they were tiny too. Waste of 15 bucks in my case. (12.99 plus the 15% gratuity they tacked on my bill, like I was some white trash expected to not tip.) the burger was meh. Got the ultimate, beef didn't taste like it was seasoned but the chopped pork was atleast smokey. Just tasted like meat and BBQ sauce with kraft singles for cheese. The place was loud audibly and visually. Everywhere there's just STUFF. Atleast I was distracted enough while I waited for the rest of the table to finish.

As I sit here eating a passable lunch, let me explain.
This is the second time we have tried this establishment.there will not be a third.
Our food arrived cold.like sitting out for an hour cold.and after we complained, it came back in three minutes.microwaved.
Is this what passes for a decent meal?
I think not.

Honestly, rather disappointing. The service was passable, but the food was really nothing to write home about. Ordered the beef brisket. It was dry and lacking much flavour, though not bad. I had fries with it; don't know what they put in the ketchup bottle, but it tastes disgusting. The cornbread bun is always good though. Fundamentally though, it's not worth what you pay. Especially when they never even offer to refill your pop. And further still, when you order Coke, and they bring you Pepsi without telling you they don't have Coke. Genuinely don't see the point of going there.

In Las Vegas. We just had Famous Dave s Bar B que for the second time this week.service was excellent. Food was perfection.we are waddling outta here now to go walk off some of this delicious meal.

My wife and i went to famous Dave's a few weeks back and I must say truly an amazing experience!
The food (well portioned I might add) the St Louis style spare ribs were tasty fall of the bone goodness which can rival any other rib
style restaurant in the city. The service is also top notch. In the future we plan going here again possibly having a room for a family gathering dinner.

Arrived at the restaurant and was asked if i was okay to sit at the bar top. I said sure. When trying to order a Pepsi they asked for my id. I responded it's in my car but I'm not planning on drinking any alcohol. They told me I had to go get it anyway or they would lose there job. I retrieved my id from the car and tried to show the bartender she told me she didn't like my attitude (because I had rushed out to the car to get my id and rushed back to my seat she assumed I was upset) and if I continued I can leave. She then asked if i had ordered a water. I said no a Pepsi but actually I might order something stronger now. She told me that I'm wasting her time and I proceeded to say you are only wasting your own time making me run to the car and fetch my id then won't even check it. She cut me off halfway thru yelling in my face shut up! Your wasting my time. I have not yet been offered a menu and may not be eating at this restaurant as my stomach has been off put by this awful experience

Ordered full rack of baby back ribs and St. Louis ribs with sides, costed $65 plus tip. Ribs are little dry but okay. Full rack is pretty big and you will be full. Sides are ordinary frozen products. Mac and cheese is terrible, I would not order again. You can get ribs only for a reduced price. Lots of paper towel and wet napkins are supplied on each table, which is good. Servers are nice and kind. The interior is made all of wood and nice. The washroom was moderately clean. I would not bring out of town guests here, but if I am close to this restaurant, I might come back again.

Poor service, the server didn't ask us if there was any first timers at the restaurant, we had family from Vancouver, wanted to take them somewhere different, so they weren't able to experience the intro about the different sauces (which are really good). We asked server for straws and she gave us 6 (we were a party of 14). My bill was 314 including tip. Just seemed like she wasn't trying, knowing that there is already a 15% tip if party of more than 9ppl. My family was not impressed, not going there anymore.

Nice restaraunt but showed up and certain foods are only offered during happy hour (2-6pm) what working person can make it to this end of the city before 6pm to order any of that.and the food isn't on the menu regularly so why is there a card on the table showing it? If you don't offer these products then don't advertise them.just finished eating and the corn was brown.been here before honestly not impressed and I didn't have a drink for lost of the meal busy night but one cup of coke shouldn't take 20 minutes

After getting a little sample of their “chopped pork” at the Winnipeg Wonderful Show in January, I had to go for a full meal. It was incredible! I definitely recommend their burnt ends and their chopped pork (I had it with grilled pineapple and mac&cheese MMMM!) my boyfriend has their baby back ribs and loved them! (says a lot - he’s hard to please) My service was absolutely perfect, the staff was friendly. Food was hot & fast. I will definitely be back with my boyfriend to try the feast for two!

I ordered ribs, and they were very fatty.
The labels on the bottles of the sauces were worn off. As I poured sauce on my ribs, the lid fell off the bottle what a mess.the waiter brought new ribs out for me no problem. But then the new portion of the ribs way smaller than the first amount? I said I would pay for the glass of wine and deep fried pickles but not the ribs. For all this trouble, if I was the manager I would never let the customer pay for anything.

Went with my family to celebrate my son’s birthday (he loves this place) — service was friendly and efficient, food was good, alcoholic drinks were served promptly, non-alcoholic drinks were refilled in a timely manner. The only gripe was 2 of the 5 mains ordered had minor mistakes and it took a few kind suggestions to get my wife’s corrected (I was starving by then and didn’t want to wait for a new order).
Minor issues aside, it was a good experience.

I wish be able to give 100 stars. Amazing place. Clean restaurant, nice food, fast to serve a the staff is very friendly. I highly recommended it.

3rd Attempt.still unimpressed. Restaurant was not busy. We visited after the lunch hour. Ordered off the lunch menu. Waited a bit, food arrived completely cold and horrible presentation.lack luster. Single plate with one piece of dried out white bread, no seasoning, butter, just pork slapped on it with bbq sauce smothered all over it. Caesar salad drenched in dressing and soggy. My partners burger was ice cold and the fries where soggy. Sent the food back. Within 3 minutes the exact food came backed.warmed by microwave. We still waited on cutlery while the food got cold again. We complained and the manager came out and gave us 15% off the bill, should have comp the whole thing. We won't be back. Like most American chains, they are unable to duplicate their success here. Won't be back.

Really good food, friendly staff, ample parking. The famous feast is pretty good value for the large amount of food.
