Fort Garry Hotel

Very elegant hotel. Attentive staff are friendly. The room was immaculate but small. If you haven’t stayed here you should.

A great niche hotel. If you are looking for an experience, this is a good choice. If you are looking for value for your money, or a quiet room, or amenities equal to your bill, then there are a number of other hotels in downtown Winnipeg that can accommodate you.
But for atmosphere and a touch of history - nothing beats the old Fort Garry Hotel.

This place is amazing! The lobby is gorgeous equipped with a automatic revolving glass door, beautiful hotel with an old historic feel. It's like you stepped back into the early 1900s.
The Oval restaurant was delicious, we ordered the sea food tower and a bottle of wine, a bit pricey but it hit the spot. Room was very clean with feathered pillows and down comforter. Rooms had pump soaps, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner in the room making it worry free on what you forgot to pack. Centrally located and within easy walking distance from Union Station, or The Forks Market. All in all, 5-stars! Would love to go back

Beautiful historic hotel in downtown Winnipeg. It kind of reminds me of a smaller version of The Plaza. The lobby is beautiful and very ornate. The oval room restaurant is a beautiful spot just off the lobby. It has a great bar and menu. I didn’t do the spa while I was here but wish I had.

We had an emergency with our dog and ended up having to drive in from Winnipeg from out of province and needed a last minute hotel at 3: 00am. The Fort Garry was full but the customer service rep searched the area and found and booked another hotel for us. We very much appreciated him going out of his way to help us. Will definitely boom with the Fort Garry next time we are in Winnipeg.

We saw a Candlelight Concert there and it was so lovely. The room was beautiful and had excellent sound for that type of concert. I would highly suggest.

What have you done to that beautiful old lounge. Silver is hideous. Also the restaurant in the Provencher Room is a good idea but I walked out because it echos in there. Too few tables and it needs some dividers or something. Lastly, who pays 25.00 for a bowl of porridge. High end or not thats ridiculous.

It's literally impossible to get ahold of actual hotel staff when trying to get room information. I keep getting transferred to a call center where no one actually knows what the hotel offers until they bring up the same webpage that I can see. Absolutely ridiculous level of service. Since being directed to this call center I'm now getting spam emails and phone calls from hotels I've never contacted. This is unacceptable.

Those afraid of ghosts may want to skip the Fort Garry Hotel- the infamous Room 202 is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman, but those brave enough won’t want to skip a visit to this landmark. A National Historic Site located in downtown Winnipeg, this famous hotel is one of Canada’s grand railway hotels, and built in 1913, it was the tallest structure in town upon completion. The architecture is reminiscent to other chateau style hotels in Canada, like the Fairmont Chateau next on the list, and is a unique and beautiful addition to the industrial core of Winnipeg.

Very good meal. The pickerel fish and chips are fantastic. Kind of expensive for the portion size but a great atmosphere.

The Fort Garry Hotel is situated in prime location in close proximity to many Winnipeg attractions. The building is historical and absolutely gorgeous. I can attest to delicious food, a dazzling atmosphere and wonderful music at the restaurant. Additionally, my brother and his wife had some issues with another hotel for their anniversary and The Fort Garry hotel went above and beyond to accommodate them on short notice. I feel like Cathy especially, and the rest of the staff made their day so special. Their room is beautiful and clean with a great view. And you can’t beat a staff who cares the way they do at Fort Garry. Looking forward to booking again very very soon.

I stayed at the Fort Garry Hotel for my 30th birthday weekend staycation/celebration between April 23-25,2021. The Fort Garry is a luxurious and historic hotel in downtown Winnipeg and I had such a great experience here.

I booked a King room with city view and they had a special essential worker rate which I took advantage of. The mattress and pillows were memory foam and SO comfortable and plush. I loved the mix of original touches (doorknobs, moldings on the walls, iron bed frame) and modern additions in the room. The shampoo and conditioner provided in the bathroom were lovely. The room had a great view overlooking downtown!

The hotel was fancy and so gorgeous! The lobby and mezzanine levels were stunning with all the detailed architecture and vintage red couches in the lobby. The architecture on the exterior of the hotel was amazing and just so much detail. I enjoyed eating breakfast at the Provencher Lounge, located on the main level in the most beautiful ballroom with such ornate details everywhere (make sure to look up to the ceiling). I enjoyed using the fitness centre (the pool and hot tubs are still closed due to COVID) and visiting Ten Spa on the tenth floor for a lovely massage and relaxing in the steam room and experiential showers. The Forks is within close walking distance, with shops, restaurants, and walking paths.

The front and lounge staff were always so friendly and helpful.

If you're looking for a wonderful place for a staycation in Winnipeg, definitely check out the Fort Garry.

Staff willing to reasonably compromise under nonsensical Covid-19 mandates. Had a minor issue with a credit card but was able to cooperate with staff and overcome it. Excellent service.

Beautiful hotel, excellent service, and friendly staff. Thanks to Adrienne's prompt service for our meals upon arrival, our time-crunched stay during COVID was all we could have hoped for!

Everyone is so accommodating at this hotel. The front desk, concierge and everyone included goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and special. The beds are very comfortable. Special kudos to Derek at the front desk for his amazing customer service skills. Definitely get a city view it's so worth it. The hotel is so cozy and warm feeling. This will be my new go to hotel in Winnipeg.

I'm from Winnipeg but I love staycations so I'm familiar with lots of hotels in the downtown area. Every time I have stayed at the Fort Gary they have exceeded my expectations. Most recently I stayed here on Valentine's weekend and we were again, very impressed. The person who checked us in was very friendly and efficient. Then a woman named Kathy made us feel very welcome. She was so kind and very nice to talk to. We then had massages at 10 spa. 95% of the staff there were absolutely wonderful and helpful. And the massages were fabulous. Definitely recommend the Fort Gary as the number one hotel in Winnipeg. Well done staff and we will see you again soon!

My favourite hotel in The Peg. Always fantastic service, even though there were renovations going on, I had complimentary services during this time, underground parking and it was completely quiet on my floor. The character of the hotel makes it so special, and the beds are ridiculously comfortable plus all the high end toiletries top it all off. I stay there regularly and have not been disappointed.
