I've been fortunate enough to photograph weddings at Fort Gibralter for over 10 years now, and I can confidently say that it's one of the most stunning venues in Winnipeg. The historic buildings and scenic grounds provide the perfect backdrop for any couple's special day, and the staff are dedicated to making sure that every detail is just right. I recently photographed Sariah and Colton's winter wedding at Fort Gibralter, and it was truly a magical event. If you're looking for a wedding venue that's full of history, character, and charm, I highly recommend Fort Gibralter.

Great place for baseball, cycling, or walking the dog or just yourself. Last visit preparation for the largest Festival du Voyageur were well under way. Feb. 26th to the 17th. Forgot to get a pic but it was quite the mess as they build walls ect.so it, s basically a construction site near the entrance. Next trip I may remember.

An iconic winnipeg landmark that's just amazing for culture and events. I photographed a wedding here and find it one of the most beautiful venues within the city if you're having a small to medium sized wedding. Definitely consider this place.

Really lovely venue for a wedding! Attended one tonight and loved it. Delicious food and great service.

We had our wedding at Fort Gibraltar a few weeks ago.

Connie and her team stopped at nothing to make our day absolutely perfect.

Food was amazing.
Venue was perfect.
The grounds make for amazing picture opportunities also.

Absolutely would recommend for weddings of 130 or less. Holds 140 but it would be a bit snug maybe.

Beautiful venue and very accommodating. Connie was great to work with and quick to respond to emails. Only thing to keep in mind is they host lots of other events so our diner rehearsal had to be 3 nights before the wedding but they did give us the closest date to the wedding they had available.

Having our wedding here was an absolute dream. Connie, the wedding coordinator, is amazing, helpful, and made all of our wishes come true. We had a cocktail style reception, so not a plated, seated dinner, and were a bit nervous about how that would work out. Connie was very reassuring and was available every step of the way to provide guidance. The venue was incredible, the food amazing, the service perfect. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Thanks so much for everything and for making one of the biggest days of our lives go off without a hitch.

The setting and the atmosphere of this place makes this a very amazing place to host a wedding social or any type of event and the owners and staff are highly professional and do an amazing job, sadly I am only able to give them 5 stars and Shawn and Connie do an amazing job to make your wedding day even more amazing

A historic fort that shows how difficult life was for the pioneers
It is now a dining and entertainment place

We went for Festival du Voyager. Fort Gibraltar is a beautiful outdoor park. Parking at the fort for large event is limited so plan accordingly.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Collin was a great and knowledgeable person who took the time to explain about the fort and the history.

The single best place to have your wedding! Connie and her team are incredible, they made our day so special, even with our last minute changes, they handled them with grace and patients. Beautiful venue, incredible food, and amazing staff, we couldn't have asked for anything better.

I was here for a first aid training class and not a wedding. But I thought it was super cute and could totally see a wedding here. The bathrooms were clean and it seemed like the building was well cared for

Finally made it to the Festival de voyageur this year. It's a wonderful place for families or friends of all ages. In summer the Fort is a good visit, and during festival there is music, tobaganning, crafts, visiting stands with people acting and playing out the roles of the early Feench settlers in Manitoba.

We had our wedding at Fort Gibraltar and we just loved it so much! The venue is beautiful with so many options for photos. Connie was super nice, informative and helped us out whenever we needed it. Had we known that we were going to have a small wedding (Covid restrictions aside) we probably would have booked at Fort Gibraltar in the first place! My now husband and I have always loved going to Fort Gibraltar for events like poutine cup, beer fest and such. Once things go back to "normal" we definitely can't wait to go back there.

Connie is super friendly. Accommodated our last minute wedding photoshoot, also helped us a great deal while we were doing the shoot. The place is beautiful, but more importantly the staff is very friendly and welcoming.

We love working with Connie! The venue is very all inclusive and offers indoor/outdoor ceremony spaces and is open year round!

Came during Festival Du Voyageur, learned about old medicine practices and various crafts, even got to do our own paper marbling!

Very cool experience during the summer. The exhibit workers are great, interesting piece of Manitoba history.

So cool to be attending a wedding inside a fort! The ceremony was held outside and the reception, inside. Axe throwing after the ceremony, was one of the fun things offered, as well as a bonfire and making S'mores later in the evening. The meal was great. All these parts made for a special event.
The only downside is, although the main building does have a ramp for accessibility, the washrooms are in the basement.

We had our son and new daughter-in-laws- wedding at Fort Gibralter in July and everything was perfect! The venue is amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better day! Thank you so much to Connie and her staff for everything they did for us! The attention to detail was so appreciated and the day was flawless! Cheers to you!

This place is full of history especially during the Fur trade era. The way the people of that time lived and worked to make ends meet. I learned a lot from this visit and would like to tell everyone that this experience is worthwhile taking. The interpreters, who are very knowledgeable of the history of the times, will walk you through an exciting journey. There is much to see, you will love it!

Fort Gibraltar is beautifully located in a splendid park on Red River. The fort and its buildings are in good shape and bring history alive again. There were no tours available when I visited.

So cool.we arrived late but the staff ensured we got the full experience. They were really nice and knew a lot.
25 August 2019 11:15
I haven't actually went in for the tour, it is a very small fort, but at the same time, I ride past it very frequently and kick myself for not taking the time. It looks to be era correct, and I like that.

Pretty awesome historic venue for a wedding. Unexpected axe throwing made my night other than the awesome company. Food was exquisite. Good service
11 August 2019 15:12
There are costumed people who tour you around. The only thing would be the distance from the parking lot to the facilities.
15 July 2019 3:01
The participants at the fort really enjoy their roles and provide visitors with a good glimpse of the past.
14 July 2019 21:31
Really nice venue for events, including food tastings and weddings. It is outdoors so make sure you dress appropriately. The main cabin in the middle is oddly spacious and beautiful inside
06 May 2019 2:29
Great historical site, best time to visit is during Festival du Voyager, in my opinion. The fort has period actors, snow sculptures, and many other activities to take in throughout the festival.

Iconic Winnipeg location. Aside from its pivotal role in Festival, also a great event space always supporting local vendors and businesses.
28 April 2019 20:19
It was ok typical festival rather disappointing considering it was there 50th year nothing really has changed
27 April 2019 16:59
At festival du voyager I visited the fort and talked to some interesting people working there learned about the trading and the Hudson's Bay Company.
24 April 2019 6:49
Very informative, it was interesting to see the blacksmiths forging using the tools of the time
13 April 2019 7:44
Amazing place to dig into the region's history. Well recommended, especially if you live in Manitoba!
10 April 2019 8:19
My husband come here annually for Festivaledu Voyageur. It's great! They stage a battle every year right in the Fort in full costume, including muskets!

I go here every February for some reason. It's incredibly cold but I still go. But it's the est sugar shack in town. It has the only authentic sugar shack in town. Only 5 days in February though. They are also the best place for drinking fortified wine named after a wannabe moose out of an ice shot glass to boot. Well I'm not sure what else to say about the place. It's pretty gosh darn amazing though. But like I said, only like 5 days in February.
31 March 2019 3:17
Went for Festivale du Voyageur. Had a great day. It isn't big and not a lot of vendors but the Brewmaster's lunch was amazing and the historical parts were well managed. There is a wide variety of music and plenty of beer available, hot drinks too.

Distinguish between the events at the old Fort structure and the Fort Gibraltar park surrounding. Things like weddings, parties and festivals are great in the old buildings. The venue is perfect for a private event. But on its own there is not much more than the stockade and the main house. Cool place for kids to visit and play around but not too much more in the way of history. For that drive up the road to Lower Fort Garry. Much superior.

The pluses to the surrounding old Fort area are the playing fields and the winter slides. Good (free) parking +
