Finally sharing my experience after letting the dust settle on an extremely frustrating situation with this business. Very much a fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice situation.

First, our previous dog was cut quite badly during a grooming. Understandably, this can occur from time to time, but it was such that we had to bandage one leg from moving so it could heal. We were told they had a vet look at him and deemed him okay. We had taken this dog there several times before with no issue and were rightfully disappointed that this happened.

We decided to continue to take our second dog to Happy Tails as it is conveniently located and between this and another animal spa, we preferred this one. However, our last experience with Happy Tails could not have been more inconvenient if they tried. Not that the timing is their fault but the lack of education of their groomers 100000% is.

Our dog ended up having a grooming the day after our first child was born. A family member was kind enough to drop him off. He gets walked around the Seine River frequently and was in desperate need of some TLC. I get a call while still recovering in hospital that our dog has FLEAS and needs to be picked up immediately and taken to the vet. Which was interesting because he had recently seen the vet for updated shots and got a clean bill of health. He's on monthly tick/flea medication as well so we were shocked to receive a call like this. I immediately call our vet, the tech is also shocked as she hears this and puts us on hold to speak to the vet. The vet then answers and tells us there's next to no chance our dog has fleas given his health regimen. But having a newborn we can't bring him home if our home has fleas. So $100 vet bill later, the dog has small BURS from his WALKS like any dog could have and ZERO fleas.

I will say, both of these instances we were not charged.

However, I am angry at the clear lack of training these groomers have that they can't distinguish a flea from a bur. I am angry that this happened at the worst possible time after a traumatic personal experience with birth. I am angry I paid $100 to see a vet for no reason. I will not be returning to be fooled a third time, and can not and will not ever recommend Happy Tails.

My Jules came home so cute and fluffy today. She sheds a LOT so I really needed help getting her fur under control.

She can be anxious so I really appreciate they take such good care of her. They even provided a report card so I know how she reacted to her nails trimmed, ears being cleaned, etc.

She also has long nail quicks from before I adopted her. With Happy Tails I've managed to get her on a good nail trim schedule of every 4 to 5 weeks and they get them so much shorter than the vet office does (without hurting her as well).

Happy Tails Pet Resort took great care of our dog! Her haircut is the best we’ve had done and she had a great time staying at the daycare afterwards. The staff is super knowledgeable and caring for the dogs. Would definitely recommend!

I really can’t say enough good things about Happy Tails. I have a slightly anxious dog who has been going for 3 years and a new puppy who has been going the past few months. They both get groomed there every 8 weeks and attend daycare a few times a month when I have to go into work or won’t be home with them. I’ve never once had to worry about them and can see the dedication and care they are treated with (I had a negative experience where my dog got injured at a different daycare due to not separating small/large dogs). To top it off, their customer service is amazing! I posed a question about something (and was ok with the outcome) but I was contacted immediately and they really went above and beyond my expectations! I recommend them to anyone I speak to! Hudson and Harley love you guys!

Have been told my puppy is too rough for daycare at 3 months old, was warned on her behaviour that if it persists she would be banned. Took a break from Happy tails and went to 3 other doggy daycares over the last 6 months, to which I've been told she's great and hasn't been a problem at all.

Returned to happy tails this past week, and was warned on 2 out of 3 days that she was behaving poorly and would be banned.
Upon picking her up on her 3rd day, she had a cut on her ear that I wasn't informed about. Other daycares that I bring her too do training as well and have nothing but good things to say about her.

In my opinion, Happy tails books and receives as many dogs as possible to make a good profit as a business should, but does not take necessary steps to insure proper supervision and care.

Will not be returning. Have spoken to other daycares, and unfortunately they've heard similar stories.

Horrible management. They asked for a power hr, we did 4, moved slowly into a full day. Met all the requirements on the website that are nedded for a 6 day stay n they kept saying he isn't doing well enough just because he's a nervous dog. They were supposed to have the owner call us they failed to do that n the manager was being very rude and unhelpful even though from day 1 we stated we nedded the luxury room for 6 days. Kept pushing it back when it wasnt nedded. Maby its good for the dogs in the back but be cautious of the 1 guy working up front very poor service.

Brought my dog here 3x. The first experience was ok. The staff were really giving me proper updates and reports then the 2nd and 3rd day care experience was giving me a reason of a doubt on why my dog is so hungry and wants to pee so bad once we arrive home. The food zip bags provided to them was not even empty and I've always been told to separate it next time. They have those special bags that has labels if I want to purchase one. In my mind I was like, c'mon! Is that really hard for the staff to determine the amount of food that they should give my dog? Which I even mentioned to them in the beginning that one bag is 4 cups in total, 2 cups for break fast and 2 cups for lunch. I don't know what to say anymore! When you see a bunch of kids running this day care you would think that the proper care are not being done accordingly.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SMALL DOG HERE! We had such an awful experience twice now. We boarded our dog in two occasions. We gave the benefit of the doubt and chalked the first time up to a learning experience, but now know it’s just a poorly run dog facility. Both times the instructions given were not followed: we requested a brushing (which was an extra charge that we were fine paying) and a bath. Our dog was not brushed or bathed - barely an apology given!

Apparently our dog was also having a lot of anxiety and they did not call all the numbers given. They tried one number via text, not even a phone call. (We learned later that the number they tried wasn’t even our phone number. We noticed they had it wrong when we dropped him off, so gave them the right number to correct it. It was never corrected in their system). They then called the emergency contact and complained to them! Unbelievably disappointed and the owner Nadine does not know how to run a business. She told us that we didn’t just didn’t “enjoy the service. ” What service? ! No communication with the owners about anxiety issues with our dog, they had the wrong phone number in file, owner was combative and not sorry for what happened. She just made excuses, blamed her staff saying “I wasn’t there, so I don’t know” and “sorry we didn’t like the service. ” A good owner takes responsibility, finds out what happened before calling the customer and DOES NOT BLAME THE DOG AND HER STAFF. We will not be back and will tell all our dog owner friends to stay away.

In the end, it doesn’t matter what the owner says, she will likely reply to this with excuses as I see she has done with other reviews that pointed out issues with her business. The negative reviews are accurate - run by people who like dogs, but are inadequately trained to run a business and logistics that are required, including people skills to speak to customers with respect.

Not recommended if your dog is energetic! If I could give 0 stars, I would. Our dog attends 3 different daycares and this is the only one he has a problem at. We’ve also heard from other owners that use this daycare and they seem to have the same problem. We are looking for a place to board our pup and this place seemed like an option. They tried our dog for 30 minutes then called us to pick him up. We’ve got a couple other options in mind but just wished we didn’t waste our time with this place: (

Not good for energetic puppies.

We brought our 5 month puppy in for the introductory Rookie Days, where there are typically fewer dogs, to help get him used to other dogs while allowing us to return to our work office. We informed them that he had high energy and limited interaction with other dogs up until that point, and were told that was ok.

His rookie day passed okay. He had moments of overstimulation and would try to play with dogs that were not interested, but was never separated from the group. In photos posted online, he seemed a little timid, which we attributed to his nervousness. His report card indicated he was overstimulated and didn't respect other dogs' space, which was understandable given the information we had shared with them. Their suggestion was to bring him in for 90 minute Power Hour sessions for $20, which would work great for us to introduce him to other dogs, but not for our need to return to the office.

We brought him back for a follow up week, and it was unfortunately a terrible experience. After 3 hours, they called us to tell us we needed to pick him up, pulling us away from a holiday party we were coordinating and throwing. He had to be separated multiple times, for similar reasons to the first visit. Once again, they suggested the power hours. This is unfortunate because the 14 hour days are $35, which causes power hours to feel overpriced and an easy solution to dogs that need more attention. When we brought him home, he was extremely timid for the next 4 hours and was uncomfortable approaching his crate.

We had heard great things about Happy Tails, and it possibly is for grown dogs. However, they don't seem equipped to look after puppies. After reading some other reviews, it seems others have shared this experience. We will have to look for a puppy friendly place instead.

This place is absolutely terrible.when your dogs are bad they take lemon juice and spray it in your dogs mouth and all they do is sit outside and vape they don't even play with the dogs.

I have been taking our large mix breed to daycare a couple days a month for just over a year (St. Anne’s) to keep her socialized. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about appropriate behavior and helped me feel more relaxed about leaving Star on a casual basis. Star is always excited to go to Happy Tails. Thank you, Celeste and team for making daycare fun again! Star’s nails get trimmed monthly and have never looked better!

Our first experience taking our dog Louis for a trial stay. Amazing staff. Very professional, clear instructions. Well done! We have been approved and Louis can stay while we vacation knowing he is well taken care of.

Have been taking our dog there since he was a puppy and it's been a generally good experience. Except the last time, and it will be the last. They trim nails using a Dremel. Has been fine.

This last time, we heard a loud crash and our dog crying out in pain. We were told he was fine by someone who didn't leave the front to check. Get our dog back and he's noticeably upset.

We later find a patch of hair on his back that's been twisted and mangled, and clearly the Dremel had been, most likely accidentally, put in his hair.

All employees we spoke to about this were varying degrees of dismissive or rude.

If you make a mistake, own it and don't claim a cairn terrier's hair is matted. Unacceptable service.

We had an amazing experience at the Samborski location.
We took our 16month pup for a sleep over while visiting Winnipeg. Upon our drop off, our pup was very reactive and timid of the staff and the unfamiliar space, which isn’t uncommon behaviour for her, and we were warned that she might not be able to stay due to safety reasons. However, the manager and staff took their time with approaching our pup and ultimately were able to calm her.
Honey had a great time at Happy Tails, loved playing with the other dogs and became comfortable with the staff very quickly.
The staff showed excellent knowledge when handling a large reactive dog, and didn’t resort to muzzling or isolating her. They provided updates when asked, were always friendly, professional, and honest!
Thanks for the great service!

I still so mad.it’s been for several days. I won’t let my dog come here anymore. I have questions “why am I paying around $40 for my dog and let her spend whole day at this day care? And what is your job duty? ” I wanna my dog have a good time and social with the other dogs. First my dog she doesn’t bite the other dog, just sometimes she has too much energy. So she needs to play in the daycare, not in the cage. Second, she is a jumper, I know it’s not every dog let her, but the worker could use some way to avoid her jump, I don’t thinks she can jump whole afternoon or whole day. The dog is not a kid who can understand human words. If u don’t have ability to control the situation, that your job, your problem. You cannot ask every dog have the good behavior like you expected. By the way, last year, my dog was infected with canine cough after having dog blooming here, we didn’t mention that because I knew it might happened in dog daycare, and it’s a good place for dog play. But this time, you guys blame her just because she is too active and put her into the cage, I cannot accept it. This situation happened to my friend’s dog as well, they put him into the cage because he disturbed the other dog while that dog was eating. But how does a dog know he cannot disturbed the other’s meal? He was a puppy, just want to play! If you only want quiet and obedient dogs, please post this on your website and let people know! Thank you very much! I will keep post if you delete it again! Everyday!

We didn't have a great experience at happy tails. Many times we were told our dog was over stimulated and barking. Their first solution was to muzzle in order to calm the behaviour. We were told by a staff member that our dog was "not good at daycare" when we picked her up. They are unable to handle energetic dogs and blame the dog themselves. Previous daycares had nothing but good things to say about our dog and her behaviour.

I got my Puppy Dog GROOMED. She's a Shepherd Husky mix n her coat needed brushing. They did an Excellent job of GROOMIMG her. She did well @ daycare. A little shy.

Had my dog Millie groomed at Happy Tails last week. They did a great job deshedding her. They also trimmed her nails, where the last groomer did not manage to. She was happy when I picked her up and I was told she was a total sweet heart while there.

Facility was very clean. Staff was very courteous.
We should have done more research prior to leaving our dog for daycare.
Did not realize that he would be placed with up to 40 other dogs, all inside and for the 4 hours he was there, no outside time to do his business and no rest time by himself. Different.
Will work for us for short period of daycare but would not consider for overnight. Kennels too small for extended stay.
28 December 2021 3:25
The people that work at Happy Tails are very knowledgeable about dogs, and I feel my dog is in good hands when he drops in for power hour, or goes for a spa day.
22 December 2021 1:09
We went for the free 90 minute session today. My doggo was anxious, but they took great care, provided great feedback and a plan on how we can get her more comfortable. They even took time to chat about leashes!

Can’t wait to continue returning for power hours and then full days!

My dog is a very important member of the family, they treat her like that and I have full trust and confidence in their abilities.

Thank you Happy Tails!

They take such great care of our pups, both for day visits and long-term stays. Recommend them 100%. I love seeing my dog have so much fun in the Facebook pictures they upload each day.

My pup absolutely loves this place. He always comes home tired and played out. Staff is wonderful, they give a report of how his day was.
28 February 2020 19:54
This place has it all. Spa services that I was able to get my dog into on last minute's notice, daycare where my energetic impossible to drain dog actually came home tired and friendly staff. They gave my dog a report card for the spa and the daycare to show how she did and they are open 24 hrs. I will be going back everytime I'm in Winnipeg with Goji!
24 February 2020 5:26
Took my 13 week old puppy for his first day at Happy Tails. I can vouch that he had a blast. Passed out on the way home and was out for the rest of the night! I also enjoyed seeing pictures posted on their facebook page - you can tell by the photos he had the best day with all his new Fur-friends! Staff were helpful and friendly! Place was clean and organized. Highly recommend. Looking forward to taking our dog back again soon!

Our golden retriever, Finn LOVES going to Happy Tails! The team is absolutely incredible. He has been going there since he was fully vaccinated as a puppy. You walk in, they know you! Finn gets so excited when we say we are going to daycare and I know that he is being well socialized in a fantastic environment. There are a LOT of dogs that go there, and the staff knows each one by name! We had him groomed there recently and he looked great. Oh, and if you don't know this, if you get your dog groomed there, you get a free day of day camp! WHAT! The best part is when Finn comes home, he crashes! With the very cold days, this is a great perk! I would highly recommend Highly Recommend you explore them as safe place for your beloved puppies. Oh, one more thing.they celebrate their birthdays!
16 February 2020 5:17
Our dog is always very excited when we get into the parking lot to be there and he is completely played out by the time we pick him up. Staff is always friendly. Place is very clean. Highly recommended.
18 January 2020 15:14
This place is fantastic. Great service and our dog loves it there. They do not over book and there is plenty of space for the fur babies. Also, their grooming is up front and visible which means they are not trying to hide anything. Highly recommend.

Amazing place, my dog loves going here weekly! Really convenient to have them 24 hours which has saved me a few times when I had to work late

This was our first experience leaving our kitten with anyone. We were gone on a 10 day vacation and our little boy still loved us when we picked him up!
I would give 5 stars if our little furball could speak and share his thoughts! Lol
Thanks Happy Tails!

I have been taking my Harley to Happy tails since he was a puppy and 5 stars is not nearly enough! If I could give 1000 stars I would. Harley goes to daycare multiple times a week, and is always excited to go, and tired when he comes home. Apon entry, I am always greeted with a friendly hello, and lots of pets for my dog. I have read many of the negative reviews and all of them have the same under relying message. People being upset with the staff being strict with the rules to ensure the safety of their staff and your pets. I respect that and totally understand! I always appreciate their honest feedback, to help my dog. They are very experienced, and I 100% recommend this daycare to anyone and everyone if you want the best for your fur babies! Look no where else! All the staff are so friendly and treat my baby like he is their own.
05 October 2019 20:17
Roxie has the best time here! Very happy that they are 24 hours a day since we have to drop her off around 6 am and pick her up after work so she doesnt have to be alone all day! She comes home very tired but wakes up really happy because she knows shes going to daycare! Thank you guys

We are always happy with the service provided by the staff at Happy Tails. Our boys Ray and Diesel visit occasionally for daycare when they need to blow off steam. But we are here on a bi-weekly basis for nails trims and always leave happy. Pugs are known to be stubborn when it comes to having their nails cut and the staff here are patient and treat our babies very well. I also love that they sell local products as well.

I’ve been taking my goldens here for over a year now and the staff, facility are wonderful. I love the 24 hour care especially if we have to drop off our pups to go away. I know they are being well cared for.
