Justin's No Frills

Pleasantly surprised. We've lived in Winnipeg for 8 years and never gone here. I kinda expected it to be pure yellow inside (all No Name) but actually it felt more like Sobeys! Not as fancy, of course, but similar size and similar amount of brands/stock. Had a lot more variety than I expected. And far less chaotic than Superstore. I'll certainly shop here more often now. I went with a list of things varying from ice cream and fresh fruit & veggies to coffee pods and filters. They had everything I wanted except the Sugar-free Chapman's ice cream.

Basic, cheap grocery store. Nothing out of the ordinary and selection is sufficient for the cheaper prices.

It’s a nice little place to satisfy your grocery needs. It’s still growing its popularity. Usually not so busy like its parent company Superstore.

Good discount supermarket where you can get a basic array of Superstore PC products without the hassle of actually going to Superstore. The store is clean and tidy with plenty of convenient parking.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to do my grocery shopping. The place is well-lit, aisles are wide, it is well organized and well stocked. Great selection on frozen items including appetizers and fruits and vegetables.

Prices are competitive and often lower than my regular grocery store. As in any situation, you need to know your prices and make choices accordingly.

Staff are friendly and available to assist as needed.

I have been impressed with the way they strive to keep the entrance way and parking lot free of litter and random shopping carts.

Great grocery store, fine selection don't like paying for a cart and pushing through snow as I am a senior and handicapped, prices are really not much cheaper than any other grocery outlet and you have to pack your own groceries.

Great location. Lots of parking. Close to other shopping options. Friendly staff. Clean. Price labels easy to read and understand. Sale prices clearly marked. It was easy to find staff for help. Aisles well spaced with and easy to find (product) floor layout.

Today's (Aug 5/22) - produce dept.found disappointing: advertised items (peaches) were not displayed (still in the back storage), slots with mixed items (nectarines and lemons), many items in an advanced state of depreciation (e.g nectarines.leeches etc)

Used to be a great place to shop, the produce quality WAS top notch on par with Safeway or Sobeys. But since the new owner took over the place has gone totally downhill. I left the store yesterday with about 8 - 10 items unpurchased because of the horrible quality. Rotten grapes, mushy tomatoes, moldy onions. I brought it to the attention of the cashier but she couldn’t have cared less. Would love to support a local store but not when it’s gone downhill so badly.

This store is always clean and very bright. I find it's a hit and miss at times when getting product. Sometimes the shelves are stocked well and produce is fresh, other times the shelves are a little empty and produce looks awful. Staff is usually nice and smiling and helpful when you can find someone.

Asked for help to get items off top shelf, people were paged but no one ever came to help. Guess they didn't want to sell items if they are not in easy reach. I waited 15 mins I thought that was a reasonable amount of time

Great place for picking up your staple foods but if you're looking for a great steak I would recommend elsewhere

Produce seems to be never fresh, and the SKUs (item selection) seems oddly minimal. Also made a comparison in prices to that of the superstore on st Anne’s and bison drive, this no frills is also “no savings” cuz they have negligible if any differences in cost. It’s not even worth coming here unless your stuck in a pinch

About 10 months ago I posted regarding what a nice place this is.boy has that changed! Upon going to check out, noticed no one in your self check (which you want people to use, no?) and then find out we can't take our cart through.
After paying for our groceries, we were busked at by the lady at the front begging for money for Parkinsons and Autism. Upon saying no thanks, she immediately gives her speel again, and my wife tells her we said no thanks.she was then rude to us, telling us not to be rude. I go shopping for groceries, not to be aggressively busked at for donations! Tell your people at the front NOT TO BE SO AGGRESSIVE, and people won't be rude.you don't need to talk to EVERY person leaving! Very unprofessional not only for No Frills, but the Parkinsons/Autism Society (?). Clean up your act!

Need to buy better bags for produce. If they don’t break when you’re filling them, they break when you lift them out of the cart. Also with no bakery, I have to go somewhere else for bread and baked goods

Went into the store today Nov/29 2021 to shop, I was unfortunately Instantly racially profiled and followed by the security guard my entire trip in a VERY unprofessional and obviously manner! To make things worse I've been on hold for over 45 MINUTES WITHOUT being able to speak to a SINGLE person! Absolutely unacceptable and absolutely terrible customer service to not even be able to reach a single representative after now almost a hour on hold by this point. I would like to be contacted and have this situation explained and corrected, as it stands I would steer as far away from this store as possible, especially if you don't want to be judged based on the race you where born or appearance!

Love no frills! It's basically a discount super store and this location is very well maintained with nice staff. I'd avoid buying meat from here unless you want to use it same day!

Do not buy the meat, produce or Bakery items, they cover best before dates with newer dates and higher prices - so gross. And when you bring the problem to management they disregard you, blame your understanding on your age, and when asked who you can bring the situation to thats higher up all the answer is is "a woman named Fran" and then would NOT give the info on how to contact said Fran person. Not okay.

If im being honest I've only been in here.once so that's all I'm basing this review on. The gentleman that helped me was very knowledgeable about locations of items and was all around a pleasant person to interact with. He also ended up being my cashier. I'll be returning in the future.

Good prices for groceries but skip the produce, meat and bakery sections. Produce selections is very limited and more often than not there is visibly rotten items on the shelves. Bakery items are brought in and not worth buying. Meat selection is also limited and the beef is low quality.

It has been noticed that when the store manager (there is a picture of him hanging in the lobby smiling and holding two bananas) sees a customer with a brown or a darker complexion checking out their groceries, he will stop what he is doing and go speak to one of the cashiers at the front. After that, the cashier will go and stand beside the customer and watch them scan their groceries. At the same time, the cashier does not pay attention to the other customers (who don't have brown complexions) scan their items. With what is going on with the country north of our boarder it is horrible to witness this behaviour in Canada.

This is a well run machine! Hours are great Staff is knowledgable their Covid protocols have been better in the past but I’m sure that will change as we progress here

I really enjoyed the no frills experience. Warehouse style shopping with excellent prices. You get the Lawblaws Superstore feel but even more warehousey and better prices. I'll hit this place again for sure.

Absolutely terrible store. Wouldn't even give them a star if I had to. Anything you NEED - bet on it they won't have it. From meat products to formula, theyre never up to stock and never have it in the back, nevermind the staff even checking for you. Save yourself the time and spend the extra 5 minutes and 50 cents and shop elsewhere.

In overwhelming darkness, each human seeks a need for something extra. The concept of extra pertains to the concept of quality, and quality came in the form of Extra Foods. But in our lifespans, the darkness, the hubris that lies within each of us, becomes our truest form, and in our lust for power, we abandoned that very quality known as 'extra', scrubbed it from our personal lexicons, and replaced it with the generic 'No Frills' banner. As humans, we all come with frills, yet within hubris' grasp, we believe ourselves to have no frills in our promise of grocery discounts. It is a shame we have collectively abandoned that concept of 'extra', for it better described our innate human desires for high-quality foodstuffs. Humans didn't want perfection; they just wanted something more. Now, humankind, in all its hubris, believes itself to be perfect, free of frills. The reverberations of this decision will negatively impact our socioeconomic concepts of No Name products for years, decades to come.

I do all my shopping there now. The selection isn't as good as other large grocery stores but pricing is a lot better. You should try it.

Very organized and clean. Great prices too. Way better than Extra Foods. I can even get my yogurt here at a lower price. Big score for me. However, the produce needs more care. Found so items on the shelf that was strarting to go bad. Have a lot of products but not enough space for them all.

My go to be grocery store. Not as big as superstore and not as crowded and I love that. I also hate bagging my own grocerys and sometimes the cashier helps me out lol.

When this store was an Extra Foods, it was easily my favourite store. It was a manageable size store with good produce, bakery, deli and meat selections with prices close to as low as Superstore. (Superstore is too big for my liking.)

Now it's as cheap as Superstore, but you get what you pay for. Worse selection than before on a number of things and lacklustre meat and bakery sections. Now instead of spending 90% of my grocery budget here, I only spend maybe 25% of it (it's still my closest store), with the remainder going to other, non-Loblaws stores.

Loblaws - you should have listened to what the community thought on this one. Too bad.the loss of a great store.

Excellent selection for a budget grocery store. I was a little worried when a budget store opened in such a middle class neighborhood but so far not too bad.

Couple points taken off for certain items being consistently out of stock (not on sale or cheap items either) and I bought stale submarine buns on a Sunday that were moldy by Tuesday.

Excellent place for shopping groceries, very good for saving money with really good prices and the store is well clean and organized and of course the staff is very friendly.

Not a fan. No frills, more like no sales. Things aren't much cheaper compared to Superstore or even some items from Sobeys/Safeway. The store layout lacks any sense. Things feel very scattered and random.
