Food was great, service was quick and fast. To be honest it was a whirlewind of service. Everything came so quick i didnt know what happened. Over all i was very pleased with my time here

Kum Koon will always be the best dim sum in the country. The owner cares and has been working on Quality Control for most of his life. This is the place for brunch for those who are in the know in winnipeg.

This place was recommended to us by a local several years ago when we visited Winnipeg. We were so impressed that we have returned here every time we visit. Excellent food, reasonable prices, great service. Highly recommend!

Ate the 9 course-style meal here recently ($400 per table with 12% auto-gratuity). Food was underwhelming, but what bothered us the most was the service. We required a couple of high chairs and booster seats and were directed to grab them ourselves from where they were stored. 5 dishes were brought out simultaneously in addition to the 3 dishes already on the table. We ourselves had to move dishes off the table to place next to our own plates just to make room for more dishes, but it still wasn't enough room and they ended up placing a dish right on top of the other dishes. They also started clearing our bowls and plates while we still had food left on them. We felt extremely rushed, with minimal to poor service, and left after having spent less than 2 hours there. They clearly wanted to rush us out so they could have more servers available for the wedding going on. Incredibly displeased with the overall experience and very disappointed with the lack of customer care from an old Winnipeg establishment.

Just ordered and our food had LOTS of egg shells. And the egg foo young had runny gooey eggs. And our chicken balls were greasy and lacking chicken, just dough balls. Deep fried dough balls. Overall not pleased and not recommended. Never again.

Went here with a family of 4 plus our 18 month old. The manager was extremely helpful to get us Gluten Free items for Dim Sum even though it's a Chinese restaurant. The manager went and ordered, and delivered us specific Dim Sum options. The service was fantastic!

Kum Koon is always my go-to if I crave for Chinese dim sum. The quality of food is great, just like what I always eat back in Hong Kong. It preserves the culture of food carts in Chinese restaurants and the hot steamed dood will definitely make you smile.

Very overpriced for the amount of food. For example, scallops for $25 consists of very few scallops and mostly just vegetables. Very small portions and while the food is decent, the prices are a rip off. Won’t be back!

By far the worst restaurant in Winnipeg when it comes to service. I came here with my family. Visible minority of course they sit us in the section with no lights on in the corner. Server was rude when he decided to notice us. And to add insult to injury our food took over a hour to come. I left hungry and very mad. If your not white or Asian don’t bother. Probably the most upsetting experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. They just don’t care, and I’ll never come back or recommend their restaurant to anybody. Sam Po is way better and they treat you with respect.

Great restaurant with really tasty traditional Chinese dishes. Fantastic delicious Dim Sum in town, Great celebrations of Chinese New Year. Owner Mr Young is very pleasant and welcoming. Just looking forward to go for a favourite food and brunch. Highly recommend to visit.

Food is always good and fresh. Wish more pineapple buns were available on weekends. The one fish tank is lovely but the other one behind the register? Fish are crammed in there with no vegitation, not enough room. It is an eye sore and is unnecessary.

The only complaint I have is that the girls distributing the food are not organized perhaps this is the problem with management as far as the distribution goes.

Dim sum the right way. Price is not the lowest in town but not over priced. Keep your parking stub, they will take the price of parking in their lot of your meal.

Nice being served room temp food. And I've never had to add salt to my Chinese food in my life. Till I had their chow mein, fried rice, dry ribs, crispy chicken, and BREADED none-existent shrimp. Don't understand why this place is so popular. Food doesn't taste like anything, location is sketchy, and their service is way below average.

I really love the dim sum here. Its served off of carts everyday for lunch. You can still order from the menu. Its hot and ready
You can literally eat and be gone in 15 mins. No lie. But lounging around seems ok here with a bowl of tea.

Our favorite dim sum place in Winnipeg. If you come on weekend. Prepare to wait for seating even they are a big restaurant. Their 8 course meal for special occasion is good also, various price range.

This Winnipeg dim sum powerhouse has been serving up delicious dim sum and tea since at least the early 90s.

They have all the traditional favourite dumplings as well as a few new school novelties on the weekend.

It's a great place to try dim sum for the first time, or to invite your newbie friends, since you can ask the servers to hand you whatever catches your eye.

Prices are always reasonable for the quality. I suggest ordering some veggies for balance. Can be a challenge for vegetarians but not impossible.

A great dim sum experience. An abundance of carts, each with anything from delicious dumplings to desert buns to noodles and all the traditional fare - including some for the more seasoned or adventurous (tripe and chickens feet are not for everyone, but from what I've gathered are perfectly at home in dim sum).

Kum Koon is ABSOLUTELY a five star. IF your looking for its type of environment. It's an active, lively, loud and busy dim sum dining experience - great for seven of your coworkers, not so much for a second date sort of thing. If your looking for something quieter and more personalized, Kum Koon might not be the offering for you (there are several other smaller a la carte offerings in the immediate area that would be MUCH better suited for your needs).

Pro Tip - No matter HOW full you are or where you are in the dining experience - get at least one order of ginger beef when you see it. I find it delightful and there is NEVER enough to go around. It's spicy and flavorful without being not overly hot, crispy but not tough - and is probably my favorite thing on the menu.

Great place for late night Chinese food. For an authentic Chinese dish, the pea tips and Chinese mushrooms is very good and tasty. I was expecting only black mushrooms, though it turned out to be an assortment of Chinese mushrooms. The black mushrooms were quire large, and might have been a little easier to pick up and eat with chop sticks if they had been halved or quartered. The cod with celery was wonderfully tender and tasty. The steamed scallops were also delightfully succulent and included waterchesnuts, pea pods and bamboo shoots. Overall good value for the high quality and pleasant surroundings.

Terrible service. I was basically ignored. Wasn't offered any thing to drink no water. Only one din sum cart.

Great place to go for lunch! Super fast and tasty. Parking is reimbursed on your bill. Very spacious and nice setting.

I recommend going at lunch with a good appetite and with at least 4 people because there's a lot of stuff to try and you're gonna wanna try a lot of it.try the standard fare.shrimp dumplings and pork dumplings.their steamed BBQ pork buns have just the right consistency in their dough, light fluffy and doesn't stick to the roof of your mouth.get there before noon on the weekends if you want to be seated right away.it's a big restaurant but it fills up quick after noon.

I came to Kum Koon Garden with high expectations and they were all met. One of my fellow residents at our U of M residence is from Hong Kong and his parents ran a Chinese restaurant. He’s lived here for a few years and after trying most restaurants in the city, this was his educated recommendation. The dining is enriching and the seating arrangement promotes dialogue. Food is all fantastic with tame options such as lemon chicken being offered along with jelly fish and tripe. In Winnipeg, Kum Koon Garden is one of the best Chinese restaurants you can go to.
By the way, the Dim Sum is also great!

If I was able to put 0 stars I would. Kum Koon garden is honestly one of the slowest, worst service you can get in Winnipeg. We've waited just over an hour for one serving of Chow Mein. Another 30 minutes for the soup. The food is sub par compared to other Chinese restaurant. As I was eating, the waitresses also bumped me, without warning, spilling the food over me. Honestly, worst service is Canada.

I am not sure why, but the dim sum restaurants in the Peg are right up there with the best in Vancouver or San Francisco.this little prairie town is a foodies dream

Beautiful venue, great selections, authentic experience (trolleys). On the pricier side, but the food was excellent. Also large parking lot!
