Lakehouse

As a frequent diner I’m always left wondering what they’re going to change next. I’ll have something really good and then go back for it and it’s either taken off the menu or not prepared in the same way.
Very disappointed in the veggie burger as they used to be delicious and now it’s just a mushy store bought patty.

Waitress was very nice if not a tad disorganized.

Will be back still but only because this is the only place opened in the winter.

Great to be able to sit outside and enjoy our coffees on a gorgeous day in wasagaming. Fire was an added bonus.

The restaurant was clearly under staffed so there was a fair bit of waiting but our food was good and the service was friendly.

We love the food at the Lakehouse. Lots of variety and great portions. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The Lakehouse restaurant is our favorite place to go when in Clear Lake.

We were repeating customers as the food historically has been good, hot and delicious. Today we ordered takeout. Unfortunately front of house was not available at the front for a small wait (I get it they are busy) Once they were they told us it was not ready (they checked with the kitchen) this was okay. After waiting past the stated 10-15 mins I had to ask a server to check again (though was told it would be brought out when it was ready). Food was brought out but sadly was already cooling off and fries were no longer crispy. So food had been sitting for awhile before being brought out. Unfortunate cause the food up til today has always been great (it still tasted great, the service sucked though).

Tldr: service sucks, can't speak for rooms as we just ate at restaurant.

My family of 8 ate here in august. The food is great.the service is another story. I made a reservation due to having a large party and day of they couldn't find my reservation. Thankfully they were still able to seat us but the confusion at the beginning of our visit was a bad sign.

Our food took forever to come. We didn't see our server for 45 minutes after ordering. They finally came to tell us there was a delay and our drinks would be on us. We did appreciate that kindness but it was a little late. We also weren't asked if we wanted to order any more drinks.

When the meals were finally all brought out they were two at a time. So we couldn't eat at the same time. The fries were cold.

We also didn't like that we weren't allowed to see our bills. The totals were just read off a tablet by the server so we were unable to verify them for accuracy.

The food was again, great (other than cold fries) but we will not be returning.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Restraint Lakehouse in Wassagaming, Manitoba, and it was truly a wonderful experience. We enjoyed a delicious meal consisting of a salad, fish, and pasta for the kids, and I must say, everything was exceptional.

The food at Restraint Lakehouse was not only great in taste but also beautifully presented. Each dish was carefully crafted with flavors that delighted our taste buds. The salad was fresh and vibrant, while the fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The pasta for the kids was also a hit, and they thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

Aside from the delicious food, the location of Restraint Lakehouse was absolutely stunning. Surrounded by the serene beauty of Wassagaming, we were treated to breathtaking views of the lake. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience, with its cozy and inviting atmosphere. It truly felt like a peaceful retreat.

The staff at Restraint Lakehouse were incredibly helpful and attentive. They went above and beyond to ensure that we had an enjoyable dining experience. From recommending dishes to providing excellent service throughout our visit, their hospitality was outstanding.

I must also mention the restrooms at Restraint Lakehouse, as they were worth noting. The restrooms were not only clean but also cozy and well designed. It's always a pleasant surprise to find restrooms that are well-maintained and provide a comfortable experience.

Overall, our visit to Restraint Lakehouse was a delightful one. The combination of delicious food, beautiful surroundings, helpful staff, and well-designed restrooms made it a memorable experience. We went for lunch after a long day and we ordered chicken burger with poutine on side just for one person, the restaurant was busy the time we get seated, thats understandable but they took forever just to take order and the sory to say but the food was not eatable.thats all we got to say

Stoped in today for drinks. Had 2 amazing Cesar’s. The presentation was amazing never had a cesar served like that and was probably the best one I’ve ever had!

A beautiful room on the upper levels! Modern and clean and it had all the needed amenities. Fast wifi, I am staying again later this summer and I cannot wait!

Today me and my brother went here to try out some food, we waited 10 minutes to get seated even after the waitress saw us waiting they completely ignored the fact that we are waiting to be seated, later on we switched our table just to feel comfortable, the waitress was so rude she literally said”is there something wrong with your table why you are switching” I have never experienced such worse customer service before, I am there to pay for service not to be disrespected and after that comment I didn’t say nothing but left the restaurant, I would not suggest anyone to go there and definitely would not recommend to anyone

You can hear the music playing from the restaurant all night long if you stay in the suites above it. Ordered room service the first night as the restaurant was fully booked, server went to the wrong room with our food, and never called. We went to check in 1.5hours later and our room temperature food was soggy from obviously sitting for so long. Super thin walls, super disappointing stay and experience - won’t be back.

Went for a late lunch, around 2: 00. Didn't seem that busy, but we waited a good 20 minutes to be seated, even though there were plenty of tables. Took an hour to get our food, which wasn't even that good. I had the tomato soup. When I asked for crackers, was told there was none. Overheard another gentleman ask the same question. The place is definitely overhyped.

February 2023. Temperature was around -11c and we spent an afternoon/evening in the area. Warmed up at The Lakehouse after a cross country ski.
The server was polite and knowledgeable and fine with us sharing an appetizer and the special burger of the day. They even brought us hot water to warm up. There are GF options and a focus on Manitoba made.
We also could overhear some staff talking kindly & positively about the customers they were serving.
We felt free to sit around outside too and there were some others enjoying the cozy hut outside with friends.
We've never been able to just walk in for a meal in the peak summer hours, so this was a real treat.
There's also a Cafe and some shopping.

The hotel is cozy and woodsy and cottagey and completely our taste and made for a few nice pictures as the backdrop.thats where the positive ends.we were there about 1/2 an hour before checkin and walked into the front entrance and were told we had to walk down the street to a sister hotel to check in.we walked down the street.noone was there.we called the number 3 times only to get voicemail.as we were walking away someone pulled up and asked if they could help.we were then told our room would be ready by 3 pm checkin time and we would receive a text with the room number and door code. 315 pm rolled around and 4 unanswered calls to the number given and we still had no checkin information.i finally walked around the hotel main floor and happened upon an obscure little desk around a corner where i could ask someone about our now late checkin.the same girl from the place down the street was standing there gossiping with a coworker and when she saw me was like “oh yeah ur checkin.we just had some extra things to put in ur room. ” (not sure what those extra things were). Not impressed at all.she offered no apology either.finally got checkin info and got into our room.it was clean (they could use less bleach cleaner as it was very overwhelming) and tidy for the most part but the photos on the wall were all in disarray and the sofa was dirty and the copper sink hadnt been cleaned/polished in lord knows how long.we asked for a kettle with our reservation - it was there.we ordered dinner the first night.a simple sandwich and soup/veggies (that were withered and dry and old) with dip (ranch dressing from a bottle) and 2 of the most overpriced canned beers weve ever had and $80 later with an unmentioned tacked on 18% gratuity and that was the last thing we ate there.not impressed.the prices were completely ridiculous.boutique hotel or not, absurd.bedtime came and we could hear our neighbour snoring as if he was in our bathroom - the walls r very thin.wanted coffee the next morning so went down and were told that they didnt open until 9 am when every sign and card and pamphlet and online note said 8 am. 9 am is their winter coffee shop opening hour apparently - would have been nice to see a sign saying so.and the friendliest ppl we encountered when inquiring about coffee was the construction crew who opened the door and rounded up someone for us to ask about coffee.the coffee wasnt great either.the rooms could use a standard kettle and a small microwave or a communal microwave near the lobby and more than a couple of nespresso pods as guests shouldnt have to ask for more coffee pods after the 2 or 4 smal supply theyve used r done.nor should they have to put their used towels out their room door in a plastic bag, text someone to let them know they r there, and wait for clean towels to appear in a bag outside their door.aside from a place to sleep, im not sure what amenities we were paying for as the rooms r not cleaned/restocked during ur stay while ur out and about.the odd staff member is friendly - the rest could take a lesson.they offered phone numbers to text or call for concierge type things or for the management office for checkin etc but noone ever answers the calls.i never spoke to anyone on the phone.disappointed.will not be back

i have read all of the reviews and agree with all of the negative points that the other guests mentioned.on the surface the hotel is nice but disappointment lurks on anything further.

The host (guy with tattoo on arm) was so rude. First, all we said just to ask for a table for two nicely, he didn’t make eye contact when talking to us and gave us the feeling that he’s about to roll his eyes even, told us to follow him without holding the door for us, walked straight to a random table, drop off the menu and walked away without saying anything. Wow! Definitely not going back there anymore!

Beautiful atmosphere, food was delicious, I had the brisket sandwich and wife had the truffle Mac and cheese, highly recommend. Servers and hosts all work very well together. Drinks are amazing, Pineapple Express is a must have!

Giving the service a 3 the meal a 2. If not for the fries on the plate I would have left hungry. The waiter did not ask how are meal was I think he knew it was awful. The brisket was so tough I could not eat it. I was with family from Alberta so did not complain. Although I don't think they could have made me another one as the meat was needing another 6-8 hours. The waiter didn't have to work very hard for the 15% tip. A tip is for good service not just because you showed up to the table.

This is a great location and overall a great restaurant and hotel in the midst of our beautiful town, but until the incredibly rude host/manager Carlos is gone, the service will continue to disappoint. Half the people I know have been treated terribly by him and he has been extremely disrespectful to my wife on multiple occasions. It is a shame a person like this continues to ruin patrons experiences on a daily basis.

Staff stated they were busy which is why they weren't getting to tables but many were empty. Two staff handled one table, one to clear and the other to take payment. The one clearing stood there and waited for the other staff to be done while four tables were all waiting for waters. Waited half an hour to get drinks after learning they only have cocktails and a small selection of beer. Server only brought one drink out and when we asked for the other she brought the wrong one. Throughout the evening the staff basically ignored us and other tables. One staff looked really busy actually talking with tables and serving food, seemed to be enjoying herself while the other two seemed miserable. Saw the manager once and he didn't seem to care when a table complained when a drink came out for them when they were already paying and stated it was ordered almost 45 minutes prior.
For am establishment that owns so much of the park they clearly need to work on their service delivery.

Went for food with a larger group the other day! Restaurant was busy but they have a good wait system where they will call you when the table is ready. The service was mediocre, which we expected from the reviews. The fries were sooo good and the sandwich was pretty decent too! (chicken and brie!) Honestly after reading the reviews, I was pleasantly surprised with the food.

The cocktails were creative and delicious, and we lucked out with an engaged waiter! Food was average, and the coffee from inside was downright disappointing.

Drinks were great, charcuterie board beautiful, but brisket sandwich was horrible.never ever order this on a first date or a second or just ever.

Pros -
Perfect location for us going back and forth to the beach with a 9 month old. Easy contactless check in.
All staff we had contact with were pleasant.
Nice bathroom.
Cons -
Place seems disorganized and we got the feeling there wasn't anyone 'running the show'.
Garbage left outside other people's doors or in common areas all day.
Building/common areas looking run down.
Waited over an hour for 2 burgers/fries from the restaurant as they said they would call when our order was ready to be picked up but never did. Our food was clearly sitting there for a while because it was lukewarm when we opened it.
Walls between rooms are paper thin. Luckily we stayed on the top floor so thankfully no noise coming from above like other reviews.
Nespresso machine nice to have but would prefer to have the option of making our own coffee with a kettle for the French press or a basic coffee machine. Not exactly sure why there is a French press provided in the room as there is no way of boiling water. (Maybe we had to ask the concierge for this?).

Likely would not stay again for price.

We stayed at lakehouse for a night Thu-Fri.room was great. 4 stars because there's no microwave.so if you're bringing to-go.gonna eat that cold lol. We had early dinner at their resto.food is good and the service was excellent! We were served by a young gentleman (forgot his name). Anyway that was June 23 2022 around 6pm.he's so nice!

Nice experience, near to the lake cruise, but can be very busy and about an hour waiting time in summer.
Good thing, they take your phone number and call you when it's your number in queue so that you don't have to stand unproductively like other restaurants in the row asks for.

The server was incredibly rude when bringing food to the table. When trying to figure out whose plate was whose my daughter said “here” when he announced her item, however he didn’t hear so I pointed to her when he repeated it. He then turned to my child and told her to “use your words”. I was was completely in shock. Food was ok but I wouldn’t never eat here again.

Just came for a drink and it took 40 mins before anyone showed up, waited forever for the bill. Patio was dirty as well. Would not recommend

On August 15th 2022, myself and a group of people came in from Brandon for a day trip. It was a very rainy day, we intended on eating outside but everything was soaked so we had to see if any restaurant would allow for half of our people to eat their own lunches and the other half would order food from said restaurant. Going into this, we understood that it would be difficult to find a place to allow this. (shout out to the boardwalk for allowing us in) What was unexpected was the snark that I was met with when I asked if we could. The guy who I was talking to exclaimed very rudely that “it was not a cafeteria” a simple, “no sorry” would have sufficed. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly though! We promptly left. A bit of kindness goes along way.

Service was pretty bad and the eggs were overcooked. Also, the lining of my coffee cup seemed to flake off.
I had high hopes so ill probably try it again, but it was pretty disappointing.

Manager was very rude and not organised at all. Food was average and over priced.
Had a very poor experience and will not be going back. Clearly the do not care about their customers.

No More Ice Cream: (

This place started out with lots of potential but over the years it’s went downhill. Lots of the decorations are getting worn down. Staff is rude and off putting, prices are high, and the entrance is crammed full of overpriced things you can buy.

It’s sad to see but this place is not what it started out as. Too bad.

Tourist trap, room was beautiful and clean. Wifi was reasonable and the shower was great. No microwave, so either cold food or something extremely expensive from one of the local restaurants. If you are visiting someone in the area this could be great but for the price I was disappointed. If you're planning a trip to the park, this is clean and modern.

The Tex Mex Eggs benedict were too spicy for a breakfast menu! It was nice at first but you'll get a lingering firy mouth, not to exclude a possible reflux attack.

We came to grab some drinks and most of the staff were very friendly, except for the one male worker… he was extremely rude and threw us off a bit. The drinks were also too exotic and not very good.

Went out for breakfast at the Lakehouse restaurant. We were charged for an item we did not order or receive. The server refused to look into it when we asked her about the charges, and the restaurant would not give a printed receipt. The email receipt received later confirmed the error, and there was nobody available to take our telephone call. We will not be going back.

Very disappointing, we waited 50 minutes and still no food. We got up to leave and were given the excuse that their were other customers in front of us who needed to get their food first. Very condescending.

If I could give this review zero stars I would. Absolutely horrible customer service. If you’re looking to eat somewhere in Clear Lake I highly recommend 1929 or T. R. McKoys. Do yourself a favour and skip the Lakehouse.

My group of three attempted to eat at the Lakehouse last night and this morning. Neither attempt was successful. Last night we showed up for dinner a few hours before they closed. We had called multiple times over the previous days to try and make a reservation and no one ever answered the phone.

When we asked to be seated on the patio an Asian looking male abruptly told us that they were not seating any more people for dinner and turned around and walked away. There were multiple open tables on the patio at this time.

We decided to try again this morning for breakfast. We arrived shortly before 10: 00am and were advised by a female staff that breakfast was over at 11: 00 am but we could have the next table, we waited for about 15 minutes and a table cleared. We walked up to the front and the same male from the night before was at the hostess station. We asked him if we were good to grab the table that had opened up and, without looking up from whatever he was looking at, very rudely told us breakfast was done.

I have never been treated in such a horrible way at a restaurant, or really any business, before. I have had great experiences at the Lakehouse in the past and was excited to bring my friends who were first time visitors to Clear Lake. I was actually embarrassed that I had recommended this place given our experience. Zero stars and I won’t be visiting in the future.

I do not recommend booking this venue for an event or wedding. We booked this venue last year and we’re very excited. However, trying to get anyone to return our emails or calls is impossible; we had emailed them about table and chairs so we could solidify decor and didn’t hear back for 12 days and only because I had to email to follow up. Then on the day that the cancellation fees kick in I hear from them telling me I never signed a contract that I needed to sign one with new stipulations that serve them better. I did sign a previous contract and had an electronic copy emailed that they have now restricted access to. When I do finally get ahold of the event coordinator, it’s as though I’m inconveniencing her. I went from being very excited about our wedding to completely dreading it and losing out on $1500 from them not honouring the original contract. Save yourself a headache and book your wedding somewhere else.

The Lakehouse has lost any chance of our business with this extremely disappointing experience! While vacationing in Wasagaming we dropped in (on Sunday July 11th) to make a reservation for dinner in their inside dining room for Friday July 16th. The person in charge of reservations was not available and we were given an email address to contact to make the reservation. Email was sent that evening. By Tuesday afternoon July 13th no reply to the email was received. We dropped in again to the Lakehouse to inquire about the possible reservation. A man in the lounge/restaurant area told us that the restaurant was fully booked and had been for some time (due to limited seating available). When asked why our email had not been answered he indicated that they were too busy to answer emails! We would have understood that no reservation was available, a quick email reply was all that was needed. We will be certain to share this poor experience with all the people like us who are regular visitors to Wasagaming. Such a disappointment as the Lakehouse presents such a positive customer service message on social media!

The food took a very long time to come. A different group of customers got their food before us even though we arrived way ahead of them.

When the food arrived, it was very underwhelming. The presentation was good but the taste was just way below my expectations. It was either very salty or very bland and it was also pretty expensive. I'm sure it tasted great for other people but it didn't suit our pallets at all.

The workers were nice though, but they seemed a little inexperienced. They forget a task when they get distracted with a different task so we were left there waiting.

We were only there for a day so we were limited with time but we wasted almost 2 hours at the restaurant. We chose this restaurant because of the reviews, but I'm not sure if I'll be coming back.

The staff was too occupied running the restaurant to tend to any of our needs. Every surrounding restaurant was closed at times where Google listed them as open. I had to go somewhere else because none of the menu items were available at Lakehouse's restaurant and they never answered the phone for online orders anyways.

Our first time here did not dissapoint. This is a very comfortable place to stay. The personnel here are very friendly and accomodating.
