Rooms and adult pool area were lack luster and less than expected for the price. Kids pool was great but spend too much time in there and it’s tough.

Average room.there were no spare 120v power outlets.you have to unplug something if ya want to change your phone or laptop.see pic of shower head.little dirty

Just passed through, didn't stay at the resort, but it's a lovely place and great location.
06 July 2023 14:56
Lack of cleanliness to our room. Stains on bed sheets and pillowcases airconditioning wasn't working either. Wasn't blowing cold air out.
01 June 2023 5:13
I stayed again in February 2023 and it was much better. They were more attentive. A younger more vibrant desk staff. The front desk girl when I checked in looked like she was some beautiful movie star or model and didn't belong in Gimli. Ha ha ha! Rooms were a little better than before. Mostly, I would say the staff seemed better. Bar and restaurant were both a ghost town. They could probably do something to liven that up a bit. The other pubs were busy. I'll be back this summer.

I reserved a suite. When I came it was viewing the street and not the water. When I went to the room there was a one bedroom area that was just ok. Furniture was poor. Bed was made poorly. The living room slash kitchen was a 12x12 room with a couch pushed up against one wall and the tv and small table pushed up against the other. The middle was totally open. It was like a small dance floor. Super odd. I went down to the front desk and said if I’m going to view the city and not use that one room just give me something lower that views the water. They didn’t have anything. I though ok then fine. I’ll take anything on a normal room. Sure. So they gave me one that viewed the street on the third floor. I got to the room and it looked like it was slept in and they just pulled the sheets up. I thought that can’t be the case and I’m just being picky but as I walked around the room I noticed quite a few things. I was paying a “special rate” of $190 for the room. I had just spent four nights at the fairmont in Winnipeg for $139 a night. They weren’t even close to comparable. I concluded that they’re taking advantage of tourists. Gouging maybe. Too strong a word? I took a bunch of pictures and went down to the front desk. I told the girl (who was sweet) that the hotel just really isn’t for me and that I would head back to the city. The location is great and really if you have to stay somewhere I’d try to Airbnb or something cheaper and cleaner probably. Other than the girl was sweet.

Very nice suite room, wasn't alot to do though when I went but that's okay. The restaurant was.meh to say the least. The customer service desk was very very nice and curteous

Was supposed to book at Lakeview at Hecla but ended up here instead. I thought it would not be as good but I was wrong! Staff were friendly, rooms were clean and spacious! Got the 2 bedroom suite with a balcony facing the marina. Kids had a great time and enjoyed the pool. Location of the hotel is perfect too. Would definitely be back!

Haven't stayed here in years but from what I remember, rooms are very nice the hotel is very peaceful and clean. Great place to stay and best in Gimli by far. Also good restaurant and bar and there is a good Robins there as well.
11 December 2021 15:41
The restaurant was very good and offered good evening dinner specials. The rooms on the second floor were not acceptable. The rooms are getting very tired and were not clean. They had a very musty smell as well. The bottom of the toilet looked it had urine stains around the floor and also long hair on the floor. I asked to change rooms and the reception person was not happy saying it was not their policy to do this during covid. After some insisting he agreed to another room which was not much better still the musty smell and toilet was not clean and around the toilet their looked to be black mould in the grout on the tile.
They did put in a room deodorizer which helped a bit but did not remove the smell entirely. Would not stay here again.

We stayed one night.we wanted to let the kids swim and then go for breakfast.
Pool was closed.restaurant was full.
Waited in line for twenty minutes and left when they forgot about us and let other people in ahead of us.
We won’t stay there again.if anyone does. Do Not Eat at Europa across the street.

Staff was nice and helpful. Hotel is dated, old furniture with peeling paint, just weak upkeep in general. Bedding was very clean and well made, but old. The overall feeling is that of a roadside motel.
But the most unsightly aspect is the hall carpets. Full of old stains, is doesn't seem like it gets steam cleaned at any point, just vacuumed.
Overall it doesn't do justice to the $220/night price tag. You can get cleaner, better kept, not-falling-apart hotels for less than that. All they have in their favor is the location, and they take that for granted.
22 October 2021 15:15
Not the greatest experience. Seems like they jacked up the prices, maybe due to Covid or the Mb Trip rebate program being offered, I feel they may have raised the price by the amount of the rebate, which is $100 on a qualifying one night stay. I paid $257 after tax for a King suite with an overly loud A/C unit and dated furnishings, a small pool area with an indoor & outdoor pool and one small hot tub, which IMO was too small for a large resort. On a positive note, the food in the restaurant was very tasty and reasonably priced. When I complained about the loud A/C unit which kept me up at night, I was offered 2 free breakfast vouchers.which was better than nothing I suppose.
21 October 2021 3:22
Nice, clean and close to beach. But price is high. Need some renovations. Our bath tub was jammed and we couldn’t took bath just before check out.
16 October 2021 3:22
The hotel room is a little outdated Definitely not a luxury suite. It was clean and had Everything you needed, e.g. Wifi, cable, microwave, hairdryer, coffee station and fridge, for the price of 200 per night and the time of year I wouldn't stay it upholds the higher standards, the restaurant attached to the resort is quite good, and the staff were friendly overall. The location was excellent. Right on the beach. I would return if it was cheaper.
09 October 2021 17:15
Our family of three loved our stay in our suite. The balcony view was of the town and we loved watching the hustle and bustle. Thank-you to all the staff, especially the GM Michael Lazer for taking care of all of our needs. We appreciated the COVID protocols in place. Our stay will be a yearly stop.

Room was nice, spacious and clean. Service at the restaurant and lounge was great. Steaks were cut a bit thin for their menu size. Flavour was great though.
02 October 2021 0:48
Hotel was very shabby, chipped paint, sink and carpet so threadbare you could almost see subfloor. Very old tvs required three remotes to watch TV. No food or drink arable after 9pm anywhere hotel.

Giving two stars for location and view!
The whole place was outdated, not worth the money spent on run down room. Checked out the pools which I was learning on using as the facilities looked dirty!
The window and doors were gross as well as the bathrooms.
Beds were soft but air conditioner was loud and hallways and elevator was stifling hot!
A maze of hallways to get you out to the street or beach.
Would not recommend staying here.
20 September 2021 8:00
Absolutely gross. So so dirty, you would think because of covid, cleaning would be amped up. NOPE. Floor dirty, walls, dirty.bathroom, dirty.chair dirty. In room binder of amenities, dirty. Pool area, dirty. The shower didn't drain. The lobby looked decent. The pool had so much chlorine that my eyes were burning watching my kids.
1 star cause they free dvds you can borrow from the front desk and the Robin's donuts is conveniently located off the lobby.
I didn't enter the exercise room so no idea and the restaurant was dirty but the food and service were good.
Gimli is definitely a beautiful place, outside the hotel.

Arrived August 22, stayed 3 nights as part of a staycation deal that provides a reduced rate if staying during the week as opposed to a weekday. We stayed in a suite that included a bedroom and an adjoining living area.

What was good:
Great location, close to restaurants, the beach and various shops.

Staff provided suggestions on where to eat that were helpful.

What was not so good:
There are signs saying that it is newly renovated however I am not sure which parts have received this treatment. We were visiting with two other families and all 3 rooms were dated and definitely nowhere near the luxury seen in some of the pictures you see online. Don't be fooled by pictures posted in the blog linked on their webpage. The fridge was definitely old and hadn't been defrosted in awhile making it so that the freezer was barely usable. The tiles in the bathroom around the toilet were cracked and would move every time they were walked on or the toilet was sat on. The plug in the bathtub was broken making it hard to both plug and unplug the drain in the bath. The room had musty smell and those in our family with allergies noticed having difficulty breathing.

They advertise free in room coffee, there is a reason it is free. Save your time and just get coffee at Robin's Donuts which is accessable via the lobby. Even better, get coffee from Flatland Roasters and some muffins from Sugar Me Cookie only a short walk away from the hotel.

They advertise free movies. These are DVDs not Blu-Ray, which would not be the worst thing except that the DVD players are hooked up to the tv via RCA cables instead of HDMI so the picture quality is terrible.

They have a pool (both indoor and outdoor) and hot tub. The pools and the hot tub were closed for an entire day, and just the hot tub was closed for an additional day. I realize that sometimes these things are out of their hands, but having it happen twice in the 4 days we were there point to either poor pool maintenance or the need for a new pool. Also what is in their hands, is to make the guest happy by offering something else. No effort was made to provide us with any type of compensation for this other than during checkout we were offered a 15% off voucher for the hotel restaurant. We politely declined.

Yes they have views of the lake, however based on the layout I would say most rooms either face the main or side streets with only one side directly facing the lake. From this side you are also treated to a view of the parking lot, and loading dock area where you also get a good view of the staff on their smoke breaks.

All of the above would be overlooked, but the website makes it seem like you are getting all the amenities. The use of the word "resort" is also suspect. In the end, it is a hotel like any other (though it didn't even have a continental breakfast), with a good location. Not worth the price.

Writing this for my mother.

Paid for an expected vacation suite. When I arrived, the room was much smaller than advertised - there was no balcony, it was very small and absolutely not worth the money. After talking with the front desk, I learned that you must be extremely specific when booking. If you don't specify the room you want, to the latter, then you'll get put in a room that's the bare minimum. No one told me this when I was booking.

Normally we stay 2 to 3 times per year, and thus were surprised at the state of the room. My daughter left early, because four people in that room felt like sardines in a can. However, I did receive some of my money back, which was good.
05 September 2021 1:25
Terrible dirty and outdated rooms. Pools also more like only for kids. Way too overpriced for such a gross old place
09 August 2021 2:39
I think the overall condition of the hotel is well below average. Our room felt quite dated and run down. We got a 1 bedroom suite and had old banged-up furniture and appliances in the room, cracks in the walls, a bit of a musty smell, and an old and loud air conditioner. In addition, the indoor pool was rather small and the pool area was shabby and uninviting. The outdoor pool seemed to be unheated, as it was ice cold and practically unusable.

Overall, it was definitely not the quality I would expect after spending $210/night on a weekday. I wasn't expecting 5-star, but I've had much nicer, more modern, and better kept-up hotel stays at discount brands like Days Inn and Comfort Inn, at much lower prices.

On the plus side, the location is excellent - right on the beach. The food at the Seagull restaurant was great with good service. Our room has a balcony with partial view of the lake, which was also nice.
06 August 2021 20:11
Great location. Near the beach. We had a great stay. Hope they could do some upgrades in the rooms. Room looks old.
17 July 2021 10:43
We've been at this Lakeview several times, going back some 16 years ago. This time we got a suite room, with kitchenette, microwave and dishwasher. An update for the hotel is long due. Understood, under COVID it is not a good moment for renovation or remodeling, although you can tell it was required before the pandemic.
Other than that, the service was excellent. There was no room service at all (pandemic), but the ladies at the front desk provided anything required to make our stay better.
13 June 2021 6:25
We were really happy with the service, layout, amenities, and the price was good for the time of our visit. Being located in the heart of downtown Gimli was a plus.
12 June 2021 12:38
The views of Lake Winnipeg from our window are great. The hotel clerk who checked us in was professional, but staff overall seem a bit off and unpleasant. The rooms aren’t clean Or dusted properly, the dressers and bathroom fixtures are outdated and grungy. Everything feels stale. Apparently there are some better rooms in a different part of the hotel which look modern and overlook the beach and waterfront. Go Figure.

After staying a week and half. We had asked about receiving a discount they had posted, Buy 2 nights get one free. They declined to give any discount even though we still had another 2 nights to stay. Said had to book the deal when we made reservation. One of the gentleman staff days, was pretty friendly, but evening front desk young lady was never friendly. You had to clean your own rooms due to covid which did not know. But understandable. So asked after a week if we could switch rooms. That was a no, even though they weren't booked up.honestly we just decided to end our trip early.
24 November 2020 15:46
This was a very enjoyable visit. We got in quite late and the front counter staff were super friendly and efficient. We were in town for a funeral and the Lakeview was definitely a highlight of the weekend.
09 November 2020 7:12
The room was very small over priced and dated, not impressed at all. The hall carpets were filthy and needed replacing. Ordered the pan-fried pickerel fillets and they were loaded with bones and were absolutely tasteless and greasy, the rice pilaf also had no taste whatsoever. Very disappointed and underwhelmed. Would not recommend staying there.
31 October 2020 7:10
Seagulls was great for breakfast.nice server! The hotel is showing its age but great location. A bit more attention to detail would be good for flooring. Comfy bed! Free parking
18 October 2020 21:52
I haven't stayed overnight in the hotel but yesterday I went in to check out the arcade that my kids used to love. It had been turned into a gym so I flagged down an employee to kindly ask if it had been moved. He kept walking and went "Its a gym! " in an angry tone. I tried to ask if he knew where the machines ended up but he just kept walking. Not the most pleasant experience and I ended up leaving. I'm hoping this isn't how the other staff are.
15 October 2020 7:39
The employees are nice and very helpful, the bathrooms for the less expensive option were terrible. They didn't have any hand soap, only face moisturiser and body wash. The showers are like a slip and slide of death, I had to skip cause I was afraid I was gunna slip. The shower, at least the one we had, made weird noise if you moved the tiniest bit so it wasn't the least bit comforting. The overall room was okay, the beds were slightly stained with something red and the room smelled strongly of cigarettes. If you want to go to this hotel, splurge a bit and get the more expensive room. It has a small kitchen along with a large bed and higher quality bathroom with a bath matt!

The indoor pool was nice and warm but the kids were loud and very annoying (That's to be expected though) they had towels and lounges chairs if you don't like getting wet in the water.

Overall, this place was okay but it was like a maze.
03 August 2020 5:46
Disappointed with the cleanliness of the rooms especially during this Covid time. The luxury suite king bed was uncomfortable and the pullout couch was terrible with a bar in the middle of the bed that pained you all night. The view was lovely but the balcony floor was crumbling & not even swept up. Not safe.
It is way over priced for a hotel in this condition. I would not stay there again if I could help it.
25 March 2020 18:48
The decor is very outdated and everything is really cheap looking. The king bed was comfortable but the pull outbed was awful. Our bathroom floor was dirty. The kids liked the pool but it was very basic. The hot tub was warm but not hot. Would not stay there again!
22 March 2020 7:21
Room was decently clean when walking in.was pretty disappointed to crawl into a bed full of sand though. (And considering it was 1am, I was not going to call the desk to complain or ask for new bedding. We were exhausted.) And no, we hadn’t gone to the beach it was fall, rainy and windy. It’s a place to stay and that’s all I have to really say. Pool area was also kind of gross. But that’s all hotel pools.
28 February 2020 22:20
Great place to stay overall with only one significant drawback.

Wifi runs at about 1mbps speed which is basically unusable. Dropped 3 stars for that because, well, it's 2020. There's no excuse for having terrible wifi in this online age.
06 January 2020 23:17
Good service.

Food looked amazing, they however put pan fried pickerel over steaming rice which makes the fish soggy and disgusting to eat.

If I wanted steamed fish I would order steam fish.

Destroyed two of our meals.

Overall pleasant experience.

The burger was terrific. Ruben was great.

The drinks and dessert fantastic. The bathroom and tables were clean.

Great view of the marina and harbour.
15 October 2019 22:24
I paid over $500 for 2 nights stay. I had no wifi or tv or a dishwasher that came with the room for 1 1/2 days. This was supposed to be a luxury suite. Disappointed.
02 October 2019 6:03
Super nice hotels but it depends if you stay in the new part of the hotel or the old part of the Hotel the newer rooms have a different entrance then the older roomsif you're looking for a new room make sure you book on your Thor the rooms are okay but they're a little bit dated all the rooms have balconies
29 September 2019 22:52
Our stay at Lakeview hotel in Gimli wasn’t the best. The website said we get a big full sized fridge, while we got a very small beverage sized one. Most of the free movies you could borrow don’t work and are all scratched up and considering we didn’t have wifi or tv for two days we would have appreciated a refund or atleast an apology from the management. The pillows are awfully hard and the foldable bed is so hard you can literally feel the springs and the bedding and mattress for it looked like it wasn’t cleaned and it was already slept on! All our dishes were still in the dishwasher and the dishwasher didn’t clean very well, the toilet paper was already used when we arrived, only half was remaining and we found a few used dirty tissues in the washroom drawers. The balcony was however very dirty with spiderwebs and looked like it wasn’t cleaned for a while and there was some kind of brown sticky substance on the nightstands and honestly the sauna was not very hot by the pool. During our first night our neighbors were arguing and sounded like they were running around almost all night and even ended up breaking the glass and playing around with the fire extinguisher by our room and let me tell you, it was quite frightening to hear that in the middle of the night! Even after we reported it and security said they would deal with it, they continued arguing and being loud till morning. Everything was also very expensive at the stores on the first floor. Gimli was a very beautiful and interesting sight to see but this hotel wasn’t the greatest experience and I wouldn’t recommended coming here if you plan on staying longer than a Couple days but we appreciate the small kitchen you could use on site instead of having to dine out because like I said, everything is very expensive. The gym in the building is nice but quite small and doesn’t have much equipment or machines. Considering this hotel isn’t exactly the cheapest stay in Gimli, I do wish they would have offered better service for the money we paid!

Good size rooms, clean, and in the middle of the township. A little pricey for being a bit dated - compared to photos I saw when booking but comfortable.
