USED to be the best place to eat. Now it's double the price and half the portions. Sad.

I ordered a 12” hot dog for my son today and the cashier was very pleasant. When my number was called, I asked the server (older lady) for 5 small packages of ketchup and 1 package of mustard. She asked, “5 packages of ketchup? ” I said, “Yes, my son loves ketchup and he’s autistic. ” She then said, “well, that’s ridiculous! ” Side note: as you realize, there is only 8 ml’s of ketchup in the small package. How many ml’s do customers put on their hot dog from the ketchup bottle? When I left, I was very upset with the servers tone of voice and comment as she showed no compassion. If you have nothing nice to say, do not say anything at all! Kindness goes a long way! She needs to learn customer service skills and know that each person is different with different needs. We love supporting local businesses and don’t treat ourselves very often. It is easy to make a hot dog at the cabin but wanted to support Lanky’s for their famous food in Grand Marais!

Atmosphere was great. Service was a little slow but friendly. But the the milkshake was hardly shook. The cheese cake twister had no cheese cake just some dust. Over all it was just meh.

Ordered a twister and a small slush for me and my sister and they were the same size. Last week they were bigger but the small one costs the same? Not happy

I worked here in the years prior to a change of ownership.
Coming back over 10 years later, it is very different and has changed much for the worse.

The previous owner, like his dad prior, took a lot of pride in the quality of the food he served. The fresh hamburger patties were made of high quality Manitoba beef from a butcher in Selkirk. The hot dogs were sourced from Winnipeg Old Country. I personally spent hours upon hours in back cutting huge Peak of the Market Manitoba grown russet potatoes into fries, which were cooked in a 3 stage process. The ice cream was all high quality Chapman's. We had to take poutine off the menu one summer because we couldn't get good enough quality real curds for an acceptable price. The chili was the boss's special recipe.

It's clear that all of the food is now just sourced from Sysco and that the primary goal is time and cost saving, not quality. Even so, the service was still quite slow. The staff don't seem very motivated - they're just kids so the blame lies with management. My coworkers and I were sweating at the end of a dinner rush because we took pride in what we did and we loved our boss.

On the positive side, the sister businesses have really livened up the strip at Grand Marais. The new paint and overall appearance is quite good (though personally I miss the old mascot).

Enjoyed a delicious lunch at Lanky’s Hotdog in Grand Marais. Beautiful Sunday for a drive and to have a hotdog on the cute patio. The foot long hotdog was excellent-cooked perfectly and served on a great bun. Large Fries were tasty and more than enough for two. Very reasonable prices. Super nice employees. Highly recommend!

Fried perogies and mozza sticks were delish but all three burgers were undercooked, one nearly raw inside.

Stopped in just for ice cream (fortunately) at about 8: 30 pm Saturday night and they were closing despite posted hours of 10: 00 pm. We got our order just fine, but there were customers showing up that were told the kitchen was closed, so no food, not even ice cream.

Please update your hours, if you do not plan to stick to the ones posted.

Have grown up going to the beach my entire life and Lanky's was always the place to go for perogies or a massive hotdog challange.if your up for it. Great food and staff!

Milkshakes are amazing as well!
