My boyfriend has gone here for computer purchases/repairs for a couple of years and has always had a wonderful experience. The staff members are professional, knowledgeable and patient, they are very good at helping you choose computer parts for your rig that will suit what you're looking for - especially if you are not tech-savvy.

Still the only place to go, so its hard to leave a bad review, all the other stores have come and gone by the wayside over the years but memex still continues to be the best place to go.no competition needed to be treated well. Pricing? Well pricing for PC parts is pretty standard across the board, but you're better going here than any big box store.people who know computers know not to go to big box stores for pc's and pc parts.

I had one of my best experiences buying computer components at Memory Express. I explained to Mohamed in sales for what I think I would like for a computer. He gave me options and professional advice. He is so friendly and patient. I was on my way home and after thinking about what Mohamed had said to me, I came back because I decided to take his advice and purchased exactly what he recomended in the first place. The people working at Memory Express are VERY professional. It is also nice to see the employees in the store having fun. I am sincerely happy I went to Memory Express!

Christmas 2019 I purchased a custom computer system from your store. A little while ago it began to fail intermittently. Eventually it failed completely. Since there was some warrantee time left I took it in. Upon verifying that indeed the system had failed it was taken in for service. The next day it was ready. Not only had the bad RAM been replaced but the SSD and HD had been checked, the CPU had been tested, the bios had been upgraded on the motherboard and the system vacuumed. Great service.

Website says it will price match any authorized Canadian retailer's price. But it all depends on the person you talked to. Might as well change your price beat information that you wont match anything that affiliates with Bestbuy's website. I wanted to shop here coz it's local but I guess I'm buying it at bestbuy.ca with free shipping. Even the Manager is rude when explaining it to me. As if he knows everything. He said he will price match amazon.ca as long as its ship and sold by amazon. He doesn't know that those are 3rd party sellers as well that pays amazon fulfillment. Either your website's price match needs to change or retrain your staffs on how to handle price match.

Called multiple times asked when I would have my graphics card as I was on a list. Call again today to be told they cancelled it and called me already. Checked my call logs on the day they"called" and not a single call. Anything to do with graphics cards and this place is sketchy.

Very complicated feeling about current level of the customer service.

Assembling gaming PC for my kid and wanted to buy all parts in one place. Since my kid has a memoryexpress giftcard, I decided to purchase everything here.

However, I have ran into some problems:
1. The physical store does not have all the parts I need and I have no choice but to go online
2. The web-site does not accept memoryexpress own giftcards
3. The phone call to Calgary is useless because their system says that "there is no representative available" and drops my call.

All these are happening before the purchase! What should I expect after my payment?

Finally, I was connected to someone over the phone. The giftcard number should be entered on the purchase notes.

Updating my original score because of my most recent experience (July 2021) and do preface by saying that I still genuinely enjoy Memory Express, but that this most recent experience was really souring. I was told by the Winnipeg location that I could not place an order through their store in January of this year for a gpu. Instead, they told me that I would be required to go on the back order list using the website and I would be notified when they'd be available for purchase.

So I did just that. Now, halfway through the year I call back and wanted to know the status and was told they couldn't find my order on my account. When I told them I followed what they instructed, they said they don't have records of online orders and cannot check for me. Instead, I was told that there are 6000 people also on back order (again, not one of them due to being redirected to the online store) and that the best I could do is come into the store and ask if anything was in stock as everything is completely random. That last part was especially strange, as I asked if there was a specific time of day or point in the week that I should focus on and was told no, everything is random.

I understand the shortage going on, that's why I waited close to 7 months before checking in. I have been a customer who has (and still wants to) spent thousands through Memory Express and the fact I got this instead has left a bad taste in my mouth. Had much higher trust in Memory Express to do right by something like this.

Bought my first computer (PC Parts) from here earlier and the service was great! They had a ton of selection in store and the friendly rep answered all my questions. Also more then half of the items I purchased were on sale with all prices very comparable to buying right from the manufacturers. The shop also had a lot of computers and accessories on display to mabey see exactly what your buying.

I was there today, Dylan helped me out I told him I wasn't buying anything today but he still helped me figure out what kind of Graphics card I should get for my first PC.he was very helpful and I would recommend this place just because of how nice the staff is and the selection!

It’s my first time going to memory express and it was very unpleasant for me. I went around noon today and was happy that there was no lines. Mohamed was the one assisting me and it started off pretty alright. I gave him a list of the things that I need to get and he told me the hard drive that I wanted was out of stock. No biggie, I told him okay let me text my friend quickly and ask him which alternative I should get. While I was texting, Mohamed told me that “I have a lot of work to do”, asking me that I should hurry it up. I was shocked by what he said and told him I was not happy with what he said. He then said that I wasn’t respecting him because I was standing there texting. Which I told him I was going to earlier. Just WOW. Not impressed.

I bought a Cooler master hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler. As I was just about to put it on my motherboard I noticed a bunch of the metal on the heat sink are bend. There was a few on the other side bent as well. They did not tell me it was opened before, I was expecting it to be unopened. I'm glad I didn't get them to look at the PC I built, I have no trust in the now. I don't have a vehicle so if I want to return it, I would have to take a bus and I don't want to because of all the covid cases atm. Will not be buying from them again. They even put the stickers back on the box where you open it to make it seem like it wasn't open before. Just think of other items they have being sold as new, but we're actually opened before and are damaged. I can't return it as well since their return policy says no damaged items can be returned.

Really the only place in town that carries a decent selection of parts. Staff is friendly and parking is available. Prices are reasonable but they do price match most things.

A great place to get computer related accessories, hardware and software. Unfortunately due to Covid you can't browse the store, which is always a great experience. You have to line up and wait for a salesperson to help you and he will get what you need. All the staff is so knowledgeable, its a pleasure dealing with them. I would recommend this place highly and I'm sure you will never leave empty handed!

UPDATE!: TLDR: pretty suspect claim of my Motherboard being faulty after claiming they updated my bios when they didn't at all.
You can read my original review below, but I discovered that I was entirely wrong. After explaining in detail how they tried to update my bios in every possible way to get my new 5600x to run on it, they claimed that the processor wouldn't operate even after updating. They offered to let me return my brand new extremely rare (at the time of purchase) 5600x. I kept my 5600x and thought I would have to RMA my board through the oem. I decided to give amd's bootkit program a shot, and after amd sent me a loaner cpu to update my bios, I discovered that Memory Express never updated my BIOS at all! My suspicion is that they just wanted to get an open box 5600X that they could "repurpose" for someone in house.

I can honestly say that this local ME has never failed to impress. Any rep I've ever dealt with there has been friendly and genuinely helpful. This time they went above and beyond when they offered to get the motherboard, which I bought elsewhere, updated to the current BIOS to support my new 5600X.

Buy nearly all my PC parts from here. Almost always excellent service. Today the first person I dealt with was pretty rude, but the second guy was good. It's really nice that they will check the cpu, ram, mobo for free too. Better than driving 2 hours home just to find out a component was doa.

Had awful customer service today (January 27th, 2021).

Recently purchased a gaming PC setup through winnipeg location. Have spent roughly $2000 on my PC through this store. Initially bought a motherboard ASUS TUF Z390 - plus gaming, an I5-9500 processor and G Skill Ripjaw 32gb ram.

****They quick mounted it all together there (cpu and ram installed to motherboard) ****

I get home and put it into my pc. Load fresh windows setup, and my everything works, except my LAN connection wont connect, shows a connection but keeps saying it is "failing to obtain an IP address" for connection. After hours and hours of trying to troubleshoot I am determined it is caused by a motherboard issue. I call into memory express and am told that due to Covid restrictions they are not accepting returns, exchanges or providing warranty, and that my only option is to purchase another motherboard and return the faulty motherboard when the store reopens.

Not a big deal, I do just that. Purchase the same one. Mount it all again myself with CPU and Ram. Plug it all back in, without updating anything software wise, my LAN connection is now working correctly.

So I bring it in today for a return now that the store is reopened. And was treated like I am an idiot who has never touched a computer before. The guy I talked to inspected the motherboard found 1 bent pin on the CPU mount, and claimed that that is the reason they LAN connection will not work. Says due to having a bent pin, they can not return it. I mention that it was mounted in store by them, to which I was told it is "Impossible that the damage is from them" and their installers "never make mistakes". To which he is 100% sure the LAN connection issue is caused by the bent pin. But the computer was A) Mounted in store and B) was still installed from them when the LAN connection issue was happening.

So how could anything I of done possibly of bent the pins.while it was still in my computer?

So another coworker overhears the conversation and also tells me the same thing, that they have guys that "know what theyre doing, so that issues like this doesnt happen. So people that dont know what theyre doing dont cause these concerns". Again implying that I dont know what I am doing, even though all I did was remove the CPU to install to my new motherboard. Then the other employee inspects it again and now claims there is some capacitor on the board that he thinks is damaged and now he "for sure can't take it back due to that".

At this point this guy is just looking for a reason to get rid of me because theres "no way that it is their fault".

After arguing and arguing with these two employees, I am told the best they can do is send it in to ASUS and have them inspect it, and that it could take anywhere from 2-12 weeks to even hear a reply, and likely the might just send me a remanufacture motherboard to replace it. Which, I obviously do not need, as i already purchased a new one as the store had to told me to do.

So now I have already been without this money I had to shell out to replace it, but now I am being told I might be months before I hear anything back. This is quite ridiculous.

Now I am likely going to be my $220 (plus tax) that I paid for this, and thats not even the part I am most upset about at this point. I am honestly more upset about how this was handled at this point. And if this is not corrected, I will not be buying anything else from memory express for any future builds and will be highly recommending to avoid this store to any of my friends.

These guys are excellent and they have an amazing selection of parts. If you're building a PC, or a serious gaming machine, or a htpc, this is the place to buy your hardware. They're knowledgeable, local here in Winnipeg, and they have competitive prices.

Didn't find any myself realized it was behind the cashier so I ask if I can check it out the cashier pick one random didn't ask me what I wanted 32? 64? 128? Nope. He just scans it and show me the price and said "want it? " Well not after that attitude. After I said no he rolled his eyes and walked away

Bought a new computer for over 1000 bucks, assembled it myself to save some money. Salesperson told me I didn't need to buy windows if i had it on my other PC, once built pc would not stay on and was overheating. Took it back and now have to pay repairs on a system i bought 2 days ago and will have to wait at least 2 weeks. Dont recommend.

Great place for all your computer needs.

Prices are great and comparable to other stores such as Amazon. Wish the location wasnt all the way in St. James but it's worth the trip to save money and have knowledge staff.

If you need to pick up something small like cables dont go to Best Buy go here! They give you great products and wont over charge you like Best Buy would.

Friendly staff. It was super, super busy but I saw each and every employee stop what they were doing to help second at some point or another. With the exception of the fact the lone to check out was going down the exact aisle I needed to shop in, the store is also laid out well. Each aisle is logically themed and contains what you'd expect to see together.

This is the place to get all your computer needs in the city. Staff are friendly and attentive. I had to return the laptop I purchased as it just wasn't for me and there was no hassles. Tons of stock, good prices, fun store to walk and play. Open up a second location in the south end please!
