Well worth the trip. Lots of old machinery and buildings interesting history of the Mennonite migration to Canada.

The village is so rich with history and story's, they also have a pillar from the Berlin wall. It is so beautiful and interesting. The food is absolutely amazing.

Museum of the life of the Mennonites (a faith that absolutely rejects violence) who immigrated here. It is an open air museum. Actually, they were supposed to show you how they ground grain, sawed wood, etc, but that didn't happen. But I still liked very well preserved things from life back then.

We went there on Canada Day. Had a good time in a very hot day. There was lots of activities for kids and great historical sites to visit. The only down side is that we had to wait for a long time to buy food, but I guess because it was Canada Day and it was just so crowded.

Went here a couple months ago with a friend we had an amazing time definitely will be coming back again

What a gem! How have we heard so little about this? Everything about this place was fantastic. The food, the volunteers, the pioneer buildings, the petting zoo, the museum, the soddy. We'll definitely be returning.
EDIT: the original review above was from last year Canada Day. We returned again this year for Canada Day, this time with extended family, and enjoyed it all over again. I'm not sure what it is like on a normal day but it was lovely today. Bonus, there are loads of places to fill up water bottles with nice water. And we discovered nice bathrooms this year. Last year we only used the old bathrooms. Clean but not so nice. But there are brand new beautiful bathrooms. I don't know how we missed them last year!

Great visit to the MHV! Plenty to explore and learn about. Lots of fun on Canada Day too. Great place for a family day out.

One of my favourite sites to visit!
If you are planning a trip to Manitoba, are prepared to drive to a suburb, want to feel and experience early to mid 1900s living, and enjoy vintage automobiles and animals, this is the perfect spot to go because many of the structures and items have been kept in outstanding shape. Plus, the quilts they created are awesome!
Additionally, as a Christian and first generation immigrant myself, understanding more about the first generation Mennonite immigrants from Europe and Soviet Russia was fascinating.
However, due to the lack of public transit from Winnipeg to this location, it can be challenging for some of you, particularly travellers, to visit. Nevertheless, I still highly recommend you to stop by here if you get the chance!

Went to treat hubby to the Sunday lunch buffet at The Livery.everything was so great, from food to exhibits. What brave and persevering, faithful people the early Mennonites were!
