Mercadito Latino

Delicious! This quaint little mom and pop shop should be busier than it is. We have frequented Mercadito Latino a number of times and have never been disappointed. The stars of the show are the Sopa de Tortilla, Tamal de Elote, and the Yuca Frita. You also cannot go wrong with any of their Pupusas, little pockets of cheesy yumyums.

This is a great little spot. I love papusas and was not disappointed. Service was not quick, but does it really always have to be? Two of us had papusas and one had tortilla soup, and we all left very happy.

If you haven't had papusas, they are these great grilled, stuffed tortillas. You can have choice of meat, beans and/or cheese inside. Served with curtido (like coleslaw) and salsa. So yummy.

I almost didn't post this. I wanted to keep it a secret. I loved the place. At first I wasn't impressed. But the food was amazing. It's quiet and comfortable. The server was very polite. I'm definitely going back. PS. If you like/colect spice sauce, you will find some good options to buy.

Food was good, but very small portions. Our server, I believe the owner, was not very welcoming. Didn't crack a smile, was hard to get questions answered, dismissed my inquiry about a beer (not licenced (No real atmosphere (music perhaps?).
Not my first choice for el Salvador food.

You gotta show up on time if not they get mad at you for showing early to pick up your food!

I love this family owned restaurant, my family goes here all the time, it's absolutely delightful! The food, papousas are amazing!

I've never had Salvadorian food before but when I asked on a forum for allergen friendly restaurants in Winnipeg, this place was suggested. The yuca frita con chicharron was incredible, and all recognizable ingredients. I had it boiled, just to be safe. It was also AIP compliant! My spouse had the pupusas. Very happy. Restaurant was nice and quiet, no loud music. Owner very friendly.

Good authentic food. Limited drink selection, almost all high sugar pop. Only diet coke in non sugar dept. Could use some light latin music, atmosphere was quite & boring. You can hear other patrons talking in detail from across room. Store is a little sad, has very limited items.

Great spot, the guy running the restaurant is a very nice man. Make sure to say Gracias.

Excellent customer service and delicious food. The chicken tamal was very tasty and nothing beats real tacos.

This place has great food and friendly service. The food is top quality and tasty. The part of town it's in is a little sketchy, but it's well worth the trip. The tortilla soup is stellar, hands down the best in town.

The food is absolutely phenomenal. Their soup was ranked as possibly the best thing to grace the city of Winnipeg, the pupusas were top notch and the avocado enchiladas were a refreshing dish, and the tamal de elote *chef’s kiss*. Prices are amazing- for reference we got like 3 dishes each for roughly $30. They’ve updated their menu to be a little more compact and photos to show what options are available (which I liked as everything looked so good). Didn’t get a chance to take pictures of the amazing food but that’s just a testament to how good it was. Service was really good, went when it wasn’t busy but they really took care of us. Note: They don’t take credit so bring alternative means of payment. Also very vegan/vegetarian friendly menu in case anyone is interested.

Absolutely delicious. Friendly staff, great size portions for sharing! We will be back! We also preordered for a specific time which is a bonus.

Portion size for the pupusas was great, can’t wait to try the rest of the menu out sometime soon!

I 100% love their soup, Enchiladas and burrito the most. Iv had most of their menu and I love it all. I bring friends and family here any time they want somthing new.

Fantastic latino restraunt/shop. The pupusas are great, if you Havnt tried a Pupusa than defiantly give it a go!
