We came for lunch today and everything we ordered was 10/10. All dishes were full of original flavors. Cheesecake was out of this world. I will definitely come back. Amazing customer service

Had a wonderful night starting with the fritters and sour dough. Then followed that with the cauliflower salad and topped it off with the braised lamb shank. Went well with a Desert Island IPA from Sookram's.

Visited with my wife, and enjoyed the kitchen seats. It was absolutely a different experience to watch the chefs work. My wife and I barely talked, we were enthralled.

We had the chef's choice, which was a tasting menu for $55 per person, but easily enough to eat. I highly recommend this - for the number of dishes you get to try, for the time you get to watch the kitchen.

My wife had a glass of wine, it was a Bordeaux. It was lovely. I had a zero proof Tricycle Thief. Its flavours were nice at first, but I didn't consider the amount of ice in the glass, and it was soon watery.

We were told the chefs would engage if we talked to them but they were so busy, and it was loud. Neither my wife nor I felt comfortable disturbing them, and neither of them initiated.

Overall the food was good. We began with a Tuna Crudo which was unique. The tuna was tasty, and the strawberry granita stood out. I felt the Beef and Beet tartare did not look appetizing, though it tasted fine. The Reuben Gyozas were delightful and creative. The corn and Nori fritters were a miss, the corn was overdone leading to a chewy taste. The sourdough had just the right amount of crunch; absolutely delish. I highly recommend the Gunpowder Roast Carrots - the pumpkin seeds were a key part of the dish. We loved the Halloumi Waldorf Salad. The highlight of the evening was by far the Braised Lamb. The Brussels sprouts were exquisite, and the lamb melted in your mouth. Our final dish was Seared Scallops & Lo Bak Go. We were told this was the chef's signature dish. It was nice, but the Lamb was far superior.

Overall for $55 pp it's tough to complain, but I want to share feedback as I have had the opportunity to visit some high end restaurants. Nola is on its way but there's work to do. Dessert was not included, it was offered as an extra, but could have been substituted for one of the dishes. We were disappointed not to get to try the gnocchi. Also we felt there was an excess amount of salt used. I felt the staff's clothing was off. They were definitely aiming for a level of "granola. " But I think the kitchen staff should have at least matching aprons, if not "uniforms. " The wait staff were, in some cases, inappropriately dressed.

Overall a wonderful experience. Worthy of another visit.

Pretty sure our meals got mixed up along the service but all was good. Ordered pretty much the entire menu between our table of 4. I got home and still felt hungry at end of the night. Maybe it's just me?

Came here with my partner for dinner and Sat at the chefs bar and had a front row seat to the kitchen. We were served by the head chef herself, and was able to chat with her and ask her questions about the menu. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the drinks on point. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Our server, Bea, was fantastic! She very friendly and helpful! She answered our numerous questions, gave us recommendations and was able to meet our dietary requests.

Your accountant might be disappointed in you for going, but you'll be ecstatic. Chef's food is fantastic, all of the cocktails are great. Don't plan to drive home, you pirate, you; Yarr walkin'. Get a reservation if you're trying to woo your date; they're a busy establishment.

One of the best restaurants I have been in Canada. The dishes are really creative and the fusion works surprisingly well. We are very amazed by how different ingredients pairs so well together - prawn tortellini with a fish sauce based purée and the corn fritter with nori. The sourdough was also really good. In comparison the karaage fried chicken was just okay, still tasted good but didn’t do the “wow” like the other dishes.
The dessert was exceptional - never thought parsnip would have worked so well in a cheesecake.
Our server was very friendly and explained all the dishes to us as they arrived. The only thing we noticed is that it was a little hard to get a hold of our server, probably because the night was very busy.
All in all we were very happy with our experience at Nola and would come back to Winnipeg just for the food here.

Very cool, relaxed place with cool, relaxed staff. Was sat at the chefs bar, the two gentlemen were charming and fun as well as extremely organized. It was a busy night and they were on top of things at all times. Was dining alone and the server suggested three plates in smaller sizes. I chose the beet and beef tartare-> excellent. The cooks chose the next two. All three were above expectations. The cocktail to start was equally excellent as well as the wine.
3 smaller courses, cocktail and a glass of wine was just over $70. A steal!
No room for dessert but the ones I saw looked great as well.

Great food! Loved sharing all the different dishes. Favourites are gunpowder carrots and the cauliflower dish.
12 May 2023 23:44
If I lived in Winnipeg, Nola would be my favourite restaurant in town. Such an amazing menu, with so many vegan options. Everything is delicious! And the service is great!

The servers were super friendly, and very informative and very professional. The food and the drinks were absolutely amazing. My new favourite restaurant in Winnipeg!

It was a great experience. The servers were all knowledge. We sat at the bar top by the kitchen Very friendly staff. A warm and inviting atmosphere.

Such an underwhelming experience at Nola. I had such high hopes after reading the reviews and looking at the intriguing flavor combos in their menu. The 2 stars are for our great server and the open kitchen concept.

The ambience is moody but it’s crowded and way too loud. Maybe not the place for a relaxing date night.maybe a good vibe for a night out with friends.

We were a table of 3 and ordered 6 items to share—Reuben gyozas, Pickerel, Sourdough bread and butter, Haloumi salad, Potato Gnocchi, Karaage chicken.

The gyozas were surprisingly okay-good but I was expecting so much more if you’re gonna put 6 pieces of gyoza on a plate and charge $15. The pickerel itself was dry but we liked the sunchoke puree and fried? Parsnip garnish. The sourdough was good but again, I was expecting so much more for a 2 pieces of halved slices and butter for $7. We liked the Haloumi salad with candied walnuts, grapes,? Radish, greens and apples—a touch too sweet but still enjoyable and refreshing. Potato gnocchi and chicken karaage were let downs.the gnocchi had some kind of curry taste to it (turmeric?) even though it doesnt say that in the menu. The karaage was overseasoned and dry.it was also literally 60-70% slaw with 5 slices of chicken on top.

Now having gone, I don’t understand the reviews.

Finally ventured into this spot. WOW! Amazing and delicious are few words we can start describing this outlet. Amazing service team and backed up with amazingly awesome kitchen team followed by one magnificent bar staff.

Can't wait to go back again.

The food and most drinks were absolutely delicious. The Dash Dot was a creamy sour cocktail that was perfect to start. The French 75 is like a classy mimosa.

We tried all but 4 dishes and almost every one was as perfect as the last. The scallops come in 3s which is annoying because all tables are 2 or 4 people I know why but at a place where everything felt perfect, adding an extra, regardless of price, is annoying.

Service was lacking. It felt our server was new so maybe not completely her fault but getting our wine out when expected or timed was tricky. She also seemed to interrupt at awkward times and everything was "awesome". I hope she grows because there is potential.
25 December 2022 13:42
Nola is certainly worth checking out! The ambiance is elegant, cozy, and inviting. The service is exceptional and so personal.

My only feedback is that I was in a group of 3, and as the menu is described as “family style”, the 3 of us shared all the dishes. I don’t recommend this as the serving sizes are small. I would have left more satisfied with each dish had I split with only one other person. Therefore, I don’t recommend sharing the dishes between more than two people.

Overall, Nola is a quaint and welcoming space with plenty to offer. Great experience.
18 December 2022 0:23
I love Nola! Everything we ordered we're sooo good! The dishes are all meant sharing. I recommend 2 dishes per person. Their cocktails were also really good!
13 December 2022 7:31
What a great experience at Nola tonight! We were fortunate to sit at the chef’s bar. Quite an experience to see the kitchen at the work and to have the chance to chat with the head chef and staff.
Service was attentive Food was SUPERB! Experience was bar none.

Would highly recommend. Girls night, date night, get together with friends.
Was busier at 9 pm than our reservation time at 7 pm.

Keep up the great work.
Will definitely be back!
12 December 2022 2:22
I work nearby and have gone on my lunch break a few times. This place is by far the best restaurant I have been to in Winnipeg! The food is always amazing. I try to order something different each time I go and nothing disappoints. Can’t wait to go for dinner here sometime!
21 May 2022 2:14
The concept and organization of the dishes are great and tasty but I do agree about other reviews about how salty and expensive it is for what you get. Great atmosphere and a potential date spot!
11 May 2022 15:55
Amazing menu. Inventive, exciting, and very cohesive. Great vegan options. Got an excellent wine pairing option!
01 May 2022 12:20
We had five dishes from Nola. The meatballs, halloumi salad and beef tartar were all wonderful but the gnocci was very salty and the karaage wasn't good. We had one drink each and were never asked if we'd like another or how the food was tasting. Service was subpar for a high end restaurant and the debit machine started tip percents at 20 which I found high for only okay service. Enotecca is still better for tapas.
30 April 2022 13:34
Amazing food. Everything was really delicious. A treat in every bite. A bit on the pricier side, but typical of fine dining. Room was nice. A dark and moody atmosphere. (We went late, around 9pm - was still very busy on a Saturday night even though it was kind of stormy out!) Great for date night.
23 April 2022 9:25
Veg fest course was all delicious, with a special mention to the brussel sprouts salad and the tamarind cauliflower, simply spectacular.
21 April 2022 15:21
Very good experience, food was really tasty and it reminded me of the cool one-off restaurants you find in Toronto.
20 April 2022 12:56
Excellent food, but very expensive. A very unique variety of dishes with fresh and unique tastes. Our group ordered a wide assortment of different dishes, and there was nothing that we didn’t enjoy. The service was also very good, and also fast. We let them know what time we had to leave by, and they ensured that we were out right on time!
16 April 2022 13:44
Nola is a fantastic restaurant, adding to our amazing food scene here in Winnipeg. It is a vibrant space featuring well thought out small plates. The highlights were the Beef + Beet Tartare with crispy wontons, the Sourdough and carmelized onion butter, the Gunpowder Roast Carrots, and the Miso Cheesecake. I'm already looking forward to next time.

Lets start this way.
1. Ambiance & Experience 5 stars.
2. Food Quality & Taste 3.75 stars.
3. Food Value 2 stars.
There is a little surprise marketing going on when the waiter comes to your table and that is a description on how to order at this restaurant. You will be recommended to order dishes as a group and share. This is very social and/or date night positive. However in most other venues that score this point - you are presented with a platter. Not here - lets take the $29 beef risotto - if the beef in that dish would be in one piece you could eat it in one mouthful. Normally a group dine menu would equal one order per person and possibly a starter or two for a group of 4.
I mentioned a date night.my Wife n I discussed this a little.let say this was your first night out - and you do not know each other, than you would want the food to be secure. Most of the items here are edgy.
So we spent $100 (no alcohol) for the 2 of us and then we went to Wendy's afterward to get some protein.
Let me sum this up with a star that this place holds and that is the crowd that was gathered here when we were patrons. Friendly people inside, you could catch their eye at a table and get a smile, everyone dressed well. It is like a movie sorta deal where you watch the traffic go by right by the window, the people walk past windows - whether they are coming or just leaving. The kitchen is in full view and everything is bang on from the visual aspect.
So overall - not sorry we tried it, but likely will not return until the menu items reflect the pricing. I sincerely hope this happens and we can go back. $100 doesn't affect us but if you are young and making every cent count - it is going to be costly adventure.
25 March 2022 16:31
The food was very interesting we tried a lot of different menu items bit nothing really stood out. It would be a nice date night place but definitely not my first pick.
23 March 2022 1:51
I wish I could give ten stars! Nola is an EXPERIENCE! From the stellar service to the out of this world menu, this was a night to remember! Everything was delicious and we raved the entire way home about our night out. Chef Emily has outdone herself and if you're not booking a reservation here right now, you're missing out!
10 March 2022 11:25
Emily Butcher is a treasure for Winnipeg. Watched her on Top Chef Canada season 9. She draws from her Winnipeg and her Asian background and is best evidenced in her seared scallops and Lo Bak Go. Lo Bak Go is a daikon (white radish) Chinese specialty usually with micro dried shrimp and Chinese sausage. Emily has put her twist on it with Winnipeg smoked goldeye to give it that familiar taste and texture but yet different. It pays homage really well to who she is.

Give this place a try, she is a rising star.

I feel it's still a bit unknown but don't let that hold you back, it is absolutely amazing. Reminded me very much of Segovia. They recommend you go with 4 people so you can share more dishes.we ordered 9 dishes and each one was uniquely flavored and better then the last. Decently priced for a more upscale restaurant and cocktails are amazing too.

A lovely evening and overall dining experience. Incredible food and drinks that were unique and presented beautifully. The service was welcoming and so friendly. Loved the ambience of the restaurant and location was ideal.
18 February 2022 22:27
Had a great evening at Nola. Our server Tyler was friendly and attentive, but it was very clear that the restaurant is run with great teamwork. We had many other lovely staff members fill our waters, bring food and clear plates. They worked well together to give us a great experience and we really noticed their effort.

The food was great. The corn fritters were one of my favorite dishes, both unique and yet familiar and comforting flavours all in one dish. I would also recommend the beef and beet tartare. I've tried nearly all of the beef tartares in the city and it has been one of my favorites.

It's so exciting to see such a promising new restaurant open in the city during the difficult reality of the pandemic. Thanks to the team at Nola for a lovely experience.
15 February 2022 21:16
The food is delicious but this is my second visit and they really need better service and better front of the house service. Since Shan left there is no one who can give wine advice, which is disappointing for the food caliber of the restaurant. Both times our table has not been ready- even when planning a surprise 40th, which was immensely disappointing. The chef really needs to get some better servers to keep return customers. Food is great but overall experience is tainted by the poor service.
14 February 2022 19:49
Ventured to the Tache area for my birthday to try something new. Was thoroughly impressed with the food. I would put Nola in the top 5 for favourite restaurants in Winnipeg. Food, location, vibe, décor all outstanding. Great spot and highly recommend you check out.
06 February 2022 16:09
Saturday night at Nola was superb. Easily one of the best culinary experiences in Canada. We sat at the “chef’s table” and Chef Emily and crew put on a show. Seeing all the plates come-off the line made me want one of each. However, we enjoyed five: Corn + Nori Fritters, Gunpowder Roast Carrots, Roast Broccoli & Beans, Roast Mushrooms + Kuku Sabzi and Seared Scallops + Lo Bak Go. I’ve definitely got to go again soon. The tartare, gnocchi, Karaage fried chicken and the braised beef plates – all looked amazing. The Gin Martini was slow and satisfying; followed by the perfect wine recommendation – Gewurztraminer! Thanks for the perfect reservation Richard... And thanks Chef Emily. Way to go!

My experience at this restaurant was a direct 180 from my friends' experiences at the same time. They got their food in a timely manner and were able to share all their dishes, and they seemed to enjoy what they got. My experience? I have food concerns/allergies, so I was not able to "share a plate" so I ordered one item to eat on my own. While I sat there, they all got plate after plate of food to share and I sat there quietly, patiently waiting for my single dish. Part way through the meal, I was able to have a piece of toast, which was the first food I had that day. After waiting 2 and a half hours, my food arrived. While my friends ooo'ed and awe'd over the dessert dishes, I was trying to eat my entrée. It tasted fine, but I was upset, embarrassed and anxious and could not bring myself to finish my meal. So, their experience: wonderful and tasty. My experience: Hungry, left out, embarrassed, and at the end rushed to attempt to eat a supper while everyone else was on dessert. Two and a half hours, $35+ all for a piece of toast, a couple of forkfuls of risotto and six small pieces of beef. I shall not be returning.

Wow this is a gastronomic experience. Everything we had was amazing but the Reuben Gyoza is out of this world.

Exceptional dinner! My wife doesn't eat dairy and they were very accommodating with a number of menu items that she could have - each one was very flavourful. Fantastic service. Highly recommend.
11 January 2022 5:47
Service was excellent and they did a great job handling the tables food restrictions. Great wine selection too!
31 December 2021 7:31
Amazing vegan menu. Was absolutely phenomenal and particularly the gunpowder carrots were amazing. Vegan desserts and Chef Emily Butcher is so kind and friendly.
16 December 2021 15:05
Easily the best restaurant in Winnipeg. I brought my family there for my in-law’s 50th anniversary. We ordered one of everything on the menu and we were all blown away by everything.

Lovely lunch experience last week. Great service, wonderful food served promptly and excellent atmosphere. I can't wait to come back for dinner.
