Oakwood Cafe

Cute little restaurant that had some yummy food. It was pretty busy when we went but got seated not too long after we arrived.

Service was good and friendly. Food is very homemade vibes and we loved it. My favourite was probably the French toast! It’s a cute restaurant within the South Osborne community!

I tried to use a gift card for take out - I stood there like a dummy while the one server couldn’t figure out how to run the card - the machine apparently wouldn’t work even though the server was able to tell me the amount on the card
- after 15 minutes server still couldn’t figure it out so I left - terrible customer service and if you’re going to sell gift cards darn well make sure the they can actually be used! Terribly disappointed in the Oakwood

*There was no solution offered and the poor server was at a loss for what to do. This is what I meant by poor customer service - this is from a business standpoint - yes technology fails and clearly it has in the past as the server acknowledged this has happened - the OWNER then needs to have an ACTIVE solution when this does happen so that the staff are not left hanging and so the customer can use a gift card.

The food is fine but the service is terrible. We were in full view of the staff in the back and they just talk and mess around while everyone waits to be seated and served. When we got our drinks, one of our party was served a way less full glass of wine for some reason. When we got our food they didn't give us cutlery and we had to ask for some, and the waitress was taking too long so we had to walk up to the staff area ask ask for some. Then when the waitress laid it out for us she was doing it without using the handle of the cutlery, she was handling the top part that goes in your mouth.

I never complain about things like this as I have worked server jobs and know it can be difficult, but it's SO bad there. I was actually embarrassed for suggesting we go there. Never going back.

For those that dislike sour cream, the menu does not state that the chili cheese fries comes with a large dollop of sour cream on it. Also my to go order did not come with cutlery so be sure to ask for that.

Great place for food. Owner is amazing, service and food are always top notch. Keep up the awesome job, definitely recommend checking out this great spot!

Love this place! Don’t know why we haven’t gone more often. I had the Cauliflower Pakora Burger with Fries and it was DELICIOUS! Smashing it before eating is a must, it’s huge and messy but worth it. We all LOVED our meals and we can’t wait to go back and try more menu items. Oh and the cake… homemade that day and YUM! HIGHly recommend getting dessert.

I have a problem supporting a business who can't pay their employees a liveable wage without government assistance.

I had a group outing the food was served in a adequate manner the portions were abundant. I had the beef brisket and mash it was delicious. I recommend the oakwood Cafe for the anytime breakfast and the wonderful dinners.

I wasn't able to prepare Thanksgiving dinner this year so I reached out to Wendy at Oakwood Cafe. We picked up turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, veg, cranberry sauce and apple pie. It came with specific instructions on how to reheat each dish and everything was delicious! Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

Oakwood Cafe is a Winnipeg staple for any breakfast.

Saturdays and Sundays can be busy, but the wait is worth it.

Dinners have a great local flair with a lot of imagination and creativity in the dishes.

Tried the cowboy bowl and traditional eggs benedict. The cowboy bowl was good with not too large of a portion. The eggs benedict however was not bad but not the greatest in flavor.

Such filling portions and meals. There's a variety of options for your taste preference. I had the Reuben sandwich and a side of the BaBa's Poutine. Both were incredible.

There was a short wait to be seated but the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Really great spot for a date, a family meal, or brunch with friends.

#1 choice for me = the chicken chorizo waffle on the breakfast menu SO FREAKING GOOD! I get it all the time!

Staff is very friendly. The presentation of the food is wonderful and the meal sizes are very good for the price. The food quality is amazing and every bite tastes just as good as the first one. All the flavours on the dish work together extremely well. Highly recommend.

Great food. The servers are friendly. We did have to wait a while to put in our order, but they were packed, so we understand. Will definitely go back soon!

Great place for breakfast/brunch! A few unique dishes as well as the normal fare and great prices for the quality you get.
I haven't tried their lunch or dinners yet, but if someone mentions "brunch" - this is one of the first places that springs to my mind.

I have to say I was very impressed with the service and food. The last time I was there was probably 4 years ago, for breakfast, and the food was just ok. The menu has changed a lot. All the food was very delicious. I'll recommend it and be back!

Great breakfast place. We haven’t had lunch yet but will be back to try. Eggs cooked to perfection, good coffee and breakfast potatoes were tasty. Prices reasonable.

So I had the Chicken Waffle Poutine, and it was out of this world amazingly delicious. Waffles, fried chicken, southern style white gravy, French fries, and possibly the thing that set it apart from any other poutine I’ve ever had, the maple syrup! You HAVE to try this!

Great selection of cozy breakfast foods. I love taking out of town guests here. Plus they do reservations on the weekend which is really nice!

Love, love, love this place. The service, food, and atmosphere is always great and I always buy the local hot sauce that they sell too. I highly recommend trying the Chicken Chorizo Waffles!

Neighbourhood treasure. If you read the menu and think you will like something you will. Great food, super nice folks running it.

What a great lunch! Beet Latkes and eggs plus potato cubes. These latkes are delicious. We topped off our birthday lunch with coconut lemon cheesecake! Oh why are there no pictures!

We met a friend here for breakfast. Our friend had the bacon and peach pancakes which sounds different but he said it was delicious. Salty and sweet together. I had the tortilla with scrambled eggs, avocado and salsa. It also comes with a side of potatoes. This was so good! Even though the sever was busy, she kept up with the coffee and asked if we needed any thing further. Prices are good. Portions are generous. We didn’t need a reservation as we were there very early but as time progressed the restaurant filled up and people were waiting for a table.

Nice little place, diner feel. Cool menu items. Friendly server, although appeared a bit short staffed. Food was yummy. Will go back to try breakfast!
