Pine Grove Cabins

We have been going there for the last 15-20 yrs for a week or 2 every year with our children, awesome people, place and fishing. Very friendly and children think the owner Gary looks like Santa Claus. He always goes out of his way to help and usually launches our boat when we go up in our RV, conversations are always nice and welcomed. Looking forward as usual to next time we head up there.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. We drove 5 hours from Winnipeg with a car full of 3 days worth of supplies to be told to turn back around and go home because we didn't have a reservation. I had called a week previous to reserve a cabin as my sister was going and made arrangements with the owner to have us come also. Both myself and my sister called to make our reservation for the same two nights we wanted and there was perfect communication between myself and the owner. When we got there I was told there was zero information about our phone confirmation and that people call and book all the time and dont show up. They gave our cabin away due to "not calling to confirm" which they claimed I needed to do. Not a single guest I talked to did that including my sister and what is the point of making a reservation if you need to call again to make sure it's actually there. They not only basically told us we were F'd, they arrogantly took no responsibility for anything, gave us no assistance finding another place to stay, and treated us like it was our fault. After 4 hours of calling around we were just about to make another 5 hour drive home and we got a call from the most excellent people at Cook's campground. They offered us a campsite, lent us a tent and pads to sleep on and went out of their way to help us so we didn't need to forgo our holiday. We ended up with a gorgeous site right on the lake. Even though we had to sleep on the ground we were grateful and they made sure we were as comfortable as possible and we were able to make our 3 days even better then it would have been. The owners of pine grove have no place running a business. I hardly ever write reviews and give people much understanding but I've never had this bad of an experience with anyone ever in my life not to mention the attitude received upon arrival like we were completly at fault for their senility. Not sure how much clearer a person has to be making a reservation here. They claimed they don't take credit cards and write down all reservations without deposit and from what I understand, don't know how to etransfer. We would of happily paid everything up front before even going. Now if this wasn't enough, they had empty cabins that night and the next day and didn't reach out to tell us. I know this as my sister still stayed there and told us they were empty. They had a place for us both nights after all and still didn't call. We chose to stay in the tent rather than give these people any money. Stay elsewhere. Fantastic fishing and great people, just not here.

What an absolute joke of a "business". My fiancé and I booked a cabin here a week or so in advance. My fiancé called and booked right after his sister had just spoken with the male owner to confirm there was a vacant cabin. When he called the male owner even said "oh ya I just talked to your sister". He confirmed he had an available cabin for the 2 nights we were looking for and said the cabin was ours. We drove 5 hours with 3 days worth of supplies expecting to settle in and enjoy a few days of relaxation and fishing with family. However when we got there we were told that they had no record of our reservation. They took zero accountability for what was clearly their error and then tried to gaslight us and tell us it was our fault because we didn't call back to confirm! We were never told that we needed to call back to confirm and our family who also booked there and got their cabin did not have to call to confirm. They were extremely rude during our entire interaction with them and did absolutely nothing to rectify what was clearly their error and were content to leave us stranded or force us to drive 5 hours home for nothing. Luckily we were able to find a campsite after several hours of calling around and hearing nothing but "no vacancy". The owners at Cooks campground went above and beyond to make sure we had somewhere to sleep for the night. Going so far as to loan us their own tent so we didn't have to sleep in our car. Big thank you to Cooks campground. I would suggest booking with them over these people. And to top it off, while we were having dinner and breakfast outside with our family who was staying at Pinegrove we could clearly see that there were several cabins not occupied. They had the means to find us somewhere to stay on their property and chose not to and lied to us. I would never recommend this place to anyone. These people were an absolute disgrace. If I could give them zero or negative stars I would in a heartbeat.

The owners completely ruined our vacation. My boyfriend and I booked a cabin and my brother and his fiance booked a separate cabin because of covid. We arrived before my brother did and settled in. When my brother and his fiance got there after driving 5 hours with 3 days worth of food and supplies they were told there cabin was givin away because they did not call to confirm there reservation which they were not told to do when they called to make the reservation. My boyfriend and I never called to confirm a cabin and we got in so how does that make any sense. They were also told there was no record of there reservation written down and there was nothing they could do for them. I even called to see if there was a cabin available before my brother called to make a reservation and they said yes. My brother called right after I did and 100% made a reservation and the owner said he had no recollection of that. So not only did they screw up my brothers reservation they didn't take any accountability for it. To make things worse the 2 nights me and my bf were there we noticed that 3 cabins were empty the entire time that my brother and his fiance could have stayed in. Also I was sitting outside and noticed the owner tending to the cabins with clean linens etc. When she made it to our cabin she didn't tend to it at all or even ask me if we needed anything which we did. Was completely upsetting after seeing her tending to all the other cabins. Completely unprofessional. Would not recommend staying here at all. We also noticed all the cabins had picnic tables and bbq's accept for us. Couldn't wait to leave the place.
