I would give negative stars if possible to Polar Windows, Accurate Dorwin, and any other entity associated with Group8, and the new numbered company that has now purchased them! We dealt with Polar Windows for over 2 years trying to get windows and doors installed. Granted the pandemic affected things in terms of supply; however they had many other excuses at the ready to explain delays and issues from a relocation where somehow the office had no way to contact the manufacturing department for a period of time to a VP change, etc. We have at least one window that fogs over on the outside if it's humid or foggy. They finally admitted it was an issue with the way the unit was built and they would remedy with a rebuild of the sealed unit. That never happened. Their customer service was so bad that at one point their customer service rep raised her voice with us on the phone because their salesman failed to recognize that the mullions of one of our windows were structural so they built the window inadequately and had to rebuild it. We had had so many negative experiences with them at that point, we refused to pay anything toward that window until it was rebuilt. Somehow we were expected to address that with their salesman. Now, a seal has gone on one window after 1 year and the new company has bought the group of companies including Polar, but not the liabilities. So, no warranty work will be covered. They will come and "attempt to" do the repair if we pay time and materials. How is that even legally possible? My advice: Run from anything associated with the former Polar Windows! I chose to replace 20 of our windows over 18 months ago with this company as I have seen their windows installed in a family members home over 30yrs ago and they are holding up great still. Obviously the quality control has declined as 7 of our windows had flaws in the window coating between the panes of glass. They did not argue to order replacements which was nice. Shortly after all of this was set into motion I found out about the receivership and was told most of my replacements were made and just waiting on a couple more. I have yet to hear back from the company with a timeline. For paying top dollar for these windows I am disappointed with the customer service on the poor attempt to making all of this right. If there is a positive it's that I am happy with how the windows are working in the cold as I have seen many triple pane window varieties in new houses that don't compare to how these work. Very disappointed with overall experience. Most of my replacement windows were already made and I still can't get them.

My journey for warranty repairs on my windows started 3 years ago and I’ve gotten nowhere with polar. When their location off gateway was still open I tried twice to get their help with replacing broken hardware. The first time I went they said I needed to remove the hardware myself and bring it in. The second time I went with the hardware but no one was on the floor or at reception. I called while inside but the person who picked up said they were dealing with a plumbing issue and to come back. The next time I returned the building was completely empty. That’s when I started to call and leave messages but they were never returned. I messaged on Facebook as well with no answer. Finally I decided after 3 years of this that I would go to another window supplier to ask for help. To my surprise there was a polar truck parked out there. I asked if they were still in business to be told no then they said they were “restructuring” I asked if I should be driving to the parts warehouse to ask about the hardware and they said the warehouse closed. They are no longer producing and they don’t have any extra hardware.

Just so no one else wastes their time. Just go to another window supplier for repair of your windows. Polar will no longer be honouring their life time warranty.

Had to come remeasure windows 4-5 times. Put half down for despot never was told or in writing that it was non-refundable. Heard nothing for months I phone was told later order was missing, then found was told to be installed 3 months later still nothing! Never heard nothing from head office! RIPOFF!

Update just got a surprise call from Winnipeg that they were coming to install windows after year half or so, they did a actual great job installing. Look really great! So now I up the stars. It’s hard to believe but it’s finally done! The new owners must want us to help them get business back.

Polar does not even deserve a 1 star review. Used them in the past and no problems. Try using them now and was told a sales man would call me back. No call back I have been calling for a month straight and no call backs and no one to answer the phone. Guess they don’t need the business and won’t be surprised if they go under. Thanks polar!

Worst trades experience ever. Zero stars more appropriate but you have to add one to post. After measurements, deposit ($4000) and order we never heard from them again. When contacted closer to our installation date (that would be us reaching out, not Polar), we were told the windows were "damaged in transit" and have still not heard back over six months later. Fortunately we were able to reverse the deposit charges through credit provider. Still have not heard from Polar. Not sure if they are just that bad, don't care or were trying to pull a scam on our deposit. Apparently Matt doesn't put the customer or service in customer service rep.

Update Feb 2023 - after never hearing from Polar for nearly one year, which includes numerous left messages by us, they reached out randomly to say we are ready for your installation and this is the balance owed. Said no thanks, we had given up on you. They respond with a threat of legal action! I don't leave reviews to put people out of business but at this rate do I really trust you to install and be around for the warranty years?

Actually deserve Zero stars. Ordered 2 sets of doors in April 2022. Substantial deposit paid, doors promised in Aug. 2022. Never heard anything further from sales rep, customer service or the company all summer. We started calling in early Aug.expecting to get an install date. No response from anyone at the company. Took until mid Sept.and dozens of phone calls to get a ‘revised’ delivery date of Dec. 2022. December one set of doors arrived and partially installed. 3 months later still no interior trim or final sealing of doorway. Still no sign of second door.weeks of phone calls to every contact person we have information on. No response. They still hold a substantial deposit for the second door. This company will take your deposit and you will never hear from them again! Will never do business here again.

After being loyal Polar customers for years, we will NEVER order from them again.
April 2022: Ordered our windows, paid the deposit and agreed to the 6-8 week time-frame.
3 months later: We contacted Polar for an update. We were told that they forgot to order our windows.
5 months later: No word from Polar, again. The "sales rep" had no idea when our windows would be in. Followed-up with management twice, no answer to calls or emails.
6 months later: Followed-up again. The system showed October 3rd. That date came and went.
Finally heard from Polar, set up a November installation date, took the day off work so I could be there. They called the day before to cancel the installation.
7 months later: Our windows are still not installed.
They offered us $300 off the bill for the inconvenience. $6200 for three small windows and going on 7 months of waiting. Absolute joke.
My dad ordered 6 windows through Armwood at the end of September. They were installed last week.

We are in business with Polar Windows for quite a few years, because we couldn't afford to replace all the windows and doors at the same time. Every time they did an amazing job. This year we had replaced the front door and the job is no different then the years before. Even it is a tough year because the Covid 19 pandemic they did again a wonderfull job. We have a very nice and sturdy front door. I will recommand Polar Windows to everybody.

The CEO, Stephen Segal has reached out to us and we are going to move forward and reach an agreement. We had a nice discussion and I feel confident that we will reach a suitable compromise.

We are truly shocked, and saddened that he has chosen this path.

He had told us that he would not do anything because the window was from the 90s not the 80s.we have the paperwork to back this statement.
He had also led us through this with very little communication since April.
Then when his person Brad measured the windows, he had mismeasured them.
The windows came, but wouldn't fit. This was not the fault of ours.
That is due to their error.
We then waited for another approximately 3 weeks and no one got back to us on this.
We reached out to Mr Segal about this, and he then refused to honor his word.
For almost 3 years we have been going through this.
For almost 3 years we have been calling and asking for answers.
We awaited for almost 2 years when they finally told us that they couldn't find the paperwork.
Yet we had been told by their person who had come out the first time, that it is theirs and it should be covered by warranty.
Then Mr. SegaL threatened us with lawyers and court if I didn't remove our first review to let people know what had happened.
We had called and emailed him before this had occurred.
After he threatened us, we reached out again.
He didn't want the bad publicity, from what we had understood, and wanted us as repeat customers. Thus, we think that that is why he had offered to install new windows, and we would cover the cost of installation. Just as their Polar Windows guarantee states!
How are we not Polar Windows customers when our windows were installed by them in the 90s?
The people who measured, as well as the installers stated this too!
We are very disheartened.
We had thought that he was a trustworthy person.
We have more than enough paperwork to support this.
You should be ashamed Mr Segal.
You may be cleaning up things with others pertaining to getting good reviews, (which wasn't that obvious previously), but you aren't doing so with us.

We have an older home and had an 8 x 5 foot window inserted into a retaining wall which required a support beam for stability. The whole experience was seamless. A wide range of appropriate windows was offered after an in-house consultation. The window is of a high quality, Canadian made and insulates well against the cold outside. The installers were excellent and obviously knowledgeable. Everyone responded to calls and texts in a timely and courteous fashion. I did not shop around for a second quote as theirs was in the expected range. I will definitely use Polar Windows again for any future projects and have no hesitation in recommending them.

Amazing! Amazing! What can I say! This is my second house Polar did my windows. I moved out of the city and phoned and getting quotes. Polar had my quote under 2 days the rest took almost a month or find a company to make my basic size window or still trying the size needed. Greg was amazing with ideas for the windows such as for my dogs love looking out windows my ideal was to put screens on the bottom of the windows but thinking the dogs would rip the screen and easier to get robbed. His idea was fantastic it solved both issues and not sacrificing the air flow that I wanted but I can go on all day. Sorry they did a great good. The two installers were super efficient thorough on detail and super clean. Bonus they told me the windows probably won’t be here until Jan to spring got Dec 2 just got lucky.

I wanted to write a follow-up review to my previous one. After contacting the President to discuss the issues we'd faced Polar Windows rose above and beyond to not only get us the quote we were seeking but also get it within a very restricted time frame in order to meet financing requirements. I did not have high hopes when I called as the timeframe to get us the quote was so tight but Greg did a fantastic job and got me the numbers within a few hours. Communication was also excellent. My initial experience with Polar Windows wasn't great but after gaining some insight into the cause I don't think I can fault the company. The follow up and making it right was superb. Would recommend.

Was referred to this company by a family friend who is also an installer for them. Was contacted by Ian in sales to do a quote, explained to him I was shopping quotes with big reputable local companies, and was coming close to a decision. He preceded to tell me that regardless of my potential family friend discount that they would be the highest priced quote I would get, and I should just deal with the other companies (which can't be right). I was shopping other reputable companies such as HiTek & Cdn Choice not cheapo window providers. He said his schedule was booked for the week and couldn't accomodate me. When asked if I provided the dimensions of the windows if he could do a sight unseen quote- his response was "I'm behind on quotes and will take over 1 1/2 wks to get back to you". He was arrogant, dismissive, unhelpful & unwilling to accomodate me the second he learned he might actually have to work for it. Doesn't matter how good quality the windows are, if the customer service sucks- not worth my business.

UPDATE: November 24,2021

This company has never contacted us back with the continuing issues with this door. We have likely called them a dozen times this year with promises of a return call. CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS COMPANY IS NON EXISTENT.

DO NOT order doors from this company if it is a specialty item. They are not capable of providing a custom fit door. We paid more than $4500 for a double door 3 years ago. The delivery time was very long but we were happy for about 4 months after it was installed. Shortly after that, ice built up between the doors and it also warped enough that we were unable to open it in winter. We called service, they replaced one of the doors and the fit seemed too snug but they said it would wear in. It didn't. We have the same problem but in addition to winter issues, it is now difficult to open in summer as well. They looked at it in November, said they would order a new one and it is now June, nothing! I have called, emailed multiple times. There is no customer service, unless we express an interest in replacing other windows in our house. We have at least 5 more large windows to replace but I lack confidence in the company now.

UPDATE: July 11,2019
While I appreciate the response to our door issue, it will be 3 weeks tomorrow and nothing has yet been fixed. We would appreciate a timeline as to when this will be resolved.

UPDATE: August 24,2019
I am not impressed. There is still no change or repair to our door, no communication regarding when to expect the repair. I will not adjust this review for customer service that doesn't exist. Would someone please contact me with a date of repair?

Our front door was finally replaced late last fall. Within a month, the weather strip at the bottom of the door began to tear away, leaving it hanging along the floor. We phoned customer service a week ago. No response so far. The middle of the door still frosts up in winter but not quite as bad as the previous door. We were told that we make need to switch to a single door if this doesn't work out. We paid close to $6000 for this door and have had nothing but problems!

I had shared our experiences with Polar Windows that was ongoing for the past over 2 years.
It wasn't good.
Then the CEO Stephen Segal had agreed to honor their warrant and we had received a quote back in April of 2021, or so.
As of Sept 27,2021, Mr. Segal has chosen not to honor his word. Not due in any part to anything that we had done, nor said, nor written. He hasn't given us a legitimate reason as to his dishonorable decision to rescind his offer.
We are shocked and saddened by his path choice which affects us negatively.
Especially after all of this time has passed.
We will collect all of the past information and relay it to you all accurately, at a later date.

Would have been 5 stars, but a bit of trim fell off my house not long after window installation. Polar gave me the runaround for a while saying they would do it but never did.
In general, the condition of the exterior trim around the windows is not great. But the windows themselves are great.

Terrible customer service. Messages are rarely returned and difficulty getting anyone to answer the phone. I am very happy with the windows I have purchased, but, have had multiple issues with doors.
Addendum: buyer beware! Told by Polar customer service rep that glass in windows or doors do not have a lifetime warranty and want to charge 595.00 to replace glass in my door that shattered in the heat of the day. I have paper work that says differently. Zero stars.

Booked estimate several weeks in advance. Day of booking estimator doesn't show. After 1 hour I contact him and he says sorry he's running behind (never tried to contact us himself). Arrives and does estimate but our realtor has to stay 30 min extra (we don't have possession yet) to accommodate. 2 weeks later and I've not heard back or recieved the quote yet. We're replacing 56 windows in a 1913 home. Would never deal with Polar again. Totally unprofessional. Already received estimates from other businesses that obviously care much more about having us as clients.

Had Polar come out to an out of town job the sales person, Ian, could have easy got a sale after the long drive as we thought we needed to replace our windows. Honesty is still alive! He explained that our windows are in great shape just needed a new seal on one. We will recommend this honest Manitoba business to anyone that asks - thank you for the honesty!

We received EXCELLENT customer service and professional installation with our extraordinary windows! Our 100+ year old home was in desperate need of new windows and Polar delivered on their promise of show room quality. We have had a lot of work done by many contractors over the years and Polar Windows provided a high quality experience from beginning to end. High attention to detail, friendly and timely communication and cleanliness were demonstrated by all involved in our 3 story - 21 window project. I could trust and relax knowing Polar was treating my home as they would theirs - highly recommend them.

Got our living room window installed today. The installation was supossed to be on June, so they are a month early! Corey and Chris did the installation and they were done just over an hour. The guys were so meticulous and friendly. They even brought our old window to the backyard when I requested. And they vaccumed and cleaned the space inside the house and outside, even though they didn't have to outside cos we are doing some yardwork. The window looks perfect! We have an awesome view! Amazing job, Corey and Chris! Thank you, guys!

We also want to thank our agent, Ian Band for touring us at polar windows, for the fast and smooth service, and for simply being a great guy!

Will definitely recommend you guys and polar windows! Thank you so so much!

Best Windows and Doors in the industry all the windows and doors in my home are polar and I could not be happier with them! With polar Windows you get what you pay for and you're paying for quality, professionalism and workmanship with polar Windows you get all three attributes in abundance. Polar Windows customer service is top-notch!

I would definitely buy Polar Windows again but because the product is such high quality I'll never have to buy them again!

I spent a small fortune replacing all my windows with Polar Windows about 9 years ago. Now that I have a small problem with a broken latch on one window, I, believing that there was a life time warranty, phoned for a technician to fix it. Well now they want $125.service fee.for a $10.00 fix! Don't believe in their warranty. There is always a catch. This is just BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE.

We have had several windows installed by Polar Windows and are very satisfied with these windows. The overall service was great, no more ice buildup on the Polar windows and outside noise is insignificant. All good with this company.

I can't say enough positive things regarding this company and their service. From the start. Danny came to my home to measure and discuss the 'why' on choosing these windows and doors. I know they have a great reputation but understanding the benefits of what they do and how they do it.helped. Danny helped me choose what may have worked better in this home. Helped me choose beautiful doors (I don't make decisions very well). It was easy and I felt confident in the choices we made together. Doing any kind of renovation during a pandemic is tough. My dad lives with me and was a high risk senior.he was not comfortable in the heart of our code red to have people in our home. They understood that and allowed us to open up construction when we were comfortable. Our crew was nothing short of amazing. Very clean, respectful and would call every morning to let us know they were on the way. Quick but efficient and left the home daily cleaner than when they arrived. I will always speak very highly of Polar Windows. They helped us turn a dark and dreary home with moldy windows. Windows that didnt open.doors that were broken to something that makes my soul happy. Its bright, airy and I can actually be proud of what I see when I drive up.not to mention the fresh air that I love so much. Thank you!

We own a 1902 character home in Brandon and have dealt with Dave McLean for many years to replace all the windows and external doors with Polar Windows and Doors. The service has been fantastic and so is the product. I highly recommend both Dave and Polar Windows to provide exactly what you want.

We had four windows manufactured and installed by your company this summer.
Besides looking very attractive, they perform very well.
As we are finally out of the recent deep freeze, I cannot adequately share with you how well these new widows kept the cold out.

Let's be clear from the start. This review of my recent (window install from "Polar Window") will be positive! Yes do read on here.
Over ten years ago we had a Polar install of a new high end front door. It still looks like it was installed yesterday!

So, when I decided it was time to install windows throughout my house which was built in 1972, I was hoping "Polar" would end up being my choice and that the end result would be as good as the door install ten or so years earlier.

It wasn't! IT WAS BETTER! I am totally blown away with the quality of the product (Windows) put in and of the install crew especially with Lead Mike and his other hands, Brandon and Tyler. These guys work like they are one person! Seriously! Very little chit chat and all business with their attention to detail and professional install. Seven regular windows were installed and cleanup completed in around 6.5 hours the first day. The crew returned the next day to give full attention to the large three pane front window install. It was completed in four hours with excellent clean up once again.

A shout out at this time also goes out to others working at "Polar Windows! " First off my "estimator, " Gerhardt was top notch from the first time we met. His professional estimate and outstanding answers to tough questions convinced me that I was going with "Polar" again. In the lead up to my install I was on the phone a few times for follow-up with Garhardt and each and every time I got his informative replies the same day.

As well, communication with the office staff of Melissa, Krista and Cheryl the Installation/Service Manager was exemplary, throughout all stages of this buy/install process. Each communication was easy, polite and note worthy with information forth coming each time.

There is one more thing I would like to say that I liked most about this company. It is that they build the final product on site at their warehouse on Kimberly here in Winnipeg. So they ARE NOT BRINGING TO YOUR HOUSE A PRODUCT MAKE BY ANOTHER COMPANY! Quality all the way was what I was hoping for and quality from start to finish is what I have written about here.

I hope this is of help to all who read this review.

We had three windows installed in our house this year. We usually do three to four windows every couple of years, never an issue in the past. This year, this install was subpar. When i called to discuss they said nothing they could do about it, "part of the process". Told me to go to local lumber yard to buy paint to cover the damage. Usually doing Reno's things are supposed to look better when complete.

I replaced all my windows on my house with Polar Windows. I went with them based on there reputation and quality even though the price tag was a little higher then the other quotes I received. I had 1 window replaced several years ago and the remainder done a year ago. My sales agent was Rick Klassen and he was great (I found out he has since retired). They replaced them in January and did a exceptional job considering the temperature outside. The crew that installed them was extremely profession, did a great job, and cleaned up every room as if they were not there. I would highly recommend them based on the quality installation alone. Over a year now and we are very happy with the added comfort in our home throughout the cold winter and warm summer. They did a real nice job on the trim inside, no visible seams at all. I have since referred my dad and he purchased a new door that he is waiting to be installed. Definitely worth the price and the lead time for some quality custom windows!

Polar Windows went out of their way to contact me when they saw on the news how another company went out of business and left us with a (paid) unfulfilled contract weeks before our house went on sale. It was undoubtedly the most heart sinking moment being left by this other company so exposed and helpless so close to our listing date.

Having zero obligation or cause to help us, they have, and continue to go above and beyond. I cannot express enough how grateful we are for their kindness and professionalism - they fixed a problem that wasn't theirs to fix, and all i can do in return is highly recommend their services for their sense of urgency and devotion to setting right a wrong.

Had some installation problems but they took care of the problem. I'm glad I bought my windows with them, great products and great company

Worst experience for windows. Took them over a year to finish to job. After multiple calls, emails and visits, chasing them down, they finally finished the job. I probably did more work chasing them down, than they did installing. To this day, small finishes still not done, ie black storm doors, white caps, not even going to bother.

Thank you. The midwinter window install went off without a hitch. Our home stayed warm. The installers were so conscientious, polite and good to have around the house.

The windows are AMAZING.

Shortly after posting the following negative review I received a phone call from the company president, on a Sunday afternoon. We had an honest conversation about my experience with the result that they sent a replacement part early the next week and provided a tracking number from Canada Post. The package arrived promptly and it was an easy installation for me to remove the damaged latch and put in the replacement. Thanks for the help Steven.

Great windows, lousy warranty service. We had 12 windows installed as part of a sunroom addition in 2014. They are very good and obviously the key element of the room. 6 of them are side opening and they seal very tight to keep out drafts. Ten weeks ago one of the locking levers broke (lifetime guaranteed) and I requested service on line. Got a quick email back and after a couple of back and forths they agreed to send up the part and I would install. That was fine with me as I live 600 km from Winnipeg. 10 weeks later, no parts, still can’t latch the window. Have called Melissa the service coordinator numerous times but she will not return calls or emails, when I get in touch with her she “will check and get back to me ” but never does. I called the switchboard and said I wanted to talk to her manager, and they put me through to Melissa anyway. Called again this morning again and asked to speak with the manager but did not get any reply. Astounding that a company that gets a premium price would risk not honouring a warranty over an inexpensive latch. Polar windows if you care about your reputation monitor your service reps performance.

We installed our windows 2 years ago and still very happy. Everyone from Matt in sales to the installation team were very professional. Product is great.

We installed 1 of their doors and it often won't unlock due to the 3 point latching system not releasing. We've had their tech's out multiple times but the problem keeps returning.
