Houses service Canada Winnipeg office where new immigrants register for their SIN. Its also home to almost all the network service provider as you'll see their stand in the mall to get a sim card as you settle in the city.

Portage place is a mall with stores. The people that occupy the area around and sometimes are in the mall are indeed a bit sketchy. Besides that.its a mall

There are not many stores open. There are a few places to eat. I didn't feel safe, there are many homeless people in the place, the structure of the mall looks dirty and neglected.

I dont recommend this mall. Whenever I go, I have to be on guard. I have had close calls with molestation and mugging. For reference, I am a male. There needs to be better consistent security at all times of the day.

I would give portage place 5 stars except for the fact that the patronizing demographic in the mall is very sketchy and I’m never sure if I should have my cellphone dialed and connected to a friend in case I need help in a hurry and they can dial 911. Other than that love most of the shops and the multiple levels and attached convenient skywalks. It’s too bad that most people didn’t get to experience the mall in its heyday when IMAX and the theatre were in use and the fountains and atmosphere was so much more vibrant. Today it’s just a pale reflection of what it was as more and more people choose to avoid the area in favor of other malls like Polo Park or St Vital centre where the selection is better and so is personal safety is usually better as well. Portage Place after dark can be very terrifying to the uninitiated. The food court has a great selection of food though.

Filthy, lots of burglars all the time, it feels unsafe and the security personnel cannot act (policies restrict them for some reason). Not a place to visit with your family. Half the businesses inside are abandoned or empty.

Canada Post, Shoppers, Dollarama, BellsMTS, Service Canada.alot of things can be achieved here.

Not a pleasant place to be. It gets 1 star, because the Oriental gift store, despite the merch being a bit dated, is actually pretty nice. If you value your safety, literally go anywhere else!

Slightly run down, I dont even think the fountain works anymore. I wish they could get rid of the riff-raff and get some more stores, however everytime I go there another store closes it's doors. It doesn't help that most people only work downtown part time. Right now they re filming a Christmas movie there so if you are missing Christmas, you should go.

Decent if you want a place to walk around. But not to many shops I would say are "destination" shops unfortunately.

Portage Place is a mixed-use shopping center located in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Covering 439,600 sq.ft, it is located on the north side of Portage Avenue, between Vaughan and Carlton Streets and opened in September 1987

Dirty, Filthy…. All kinds of bad words that you can find could be used to define this place.
Also watch out before you getting stabbed!

Very rundown. Filthy and smelly toilets. All sorts of wacky people standing in the worst places possible. The shoppers drug mart had insanely high prices.literally every deodorant sticks were above 10$? !? !

There was a nice old guy playing the piano by the broken clock.

Its OK. Avoid the back entrance. Lots of illegal transactions tale place just outside the doors. Not many stores left. Nowhere to sit. No benches. Avoid the bathrooms

Not the greatest place to shop worried you can be rob or beaten restaurants not enough cant sit more than thirty minutes security will kick you out

Such a shame. Once upon a time… before my time, this mall had good stores in it. It’s so dead now. No reason to go there.

It was convenient when I went to the U or W to come here for supplies and a few things. I haven’t stepped foot in this mall since I graduated the U of W. It’s just a shame that the vision for this mall was to be a mini Eaton centre, and instead it’s a dying mall.

I was expecting more of shopping stores but there was only ardene, where nobody really helped! Apart from that shoppers drug mart and dollarama at this place has good variety.

Sad what happened to portage place. All stores empty. I remember watching IMAX on third floor 2007

Nothing special about portage place. Polo park mall or st vital mall is where it's all.

They have skinwalkers running out of here after hours. The mall is supposed to stay open for the underground walkway but it does not. Security will steal lost phones and have them resold by the mobile kiosks inside the mall. Mall is unsafe, inside and out. Security is useless and so is the administrative team.

The bus shack in front of it: hazardous. Inside the mall: fix those escalators. So many vacant spots. Looking forward to some major renovations, whenever that’ll be. If it weren’t for Prairie Theatre Exchange, I think the mall would be closed down unless some new business blows that place wide open with sales and profitability.
